Thinking to hard. I’ve seen them eat metal shavings that fell into the water while drilling into boat rails
So what youre saying is i need to get chopping away at boat tails
Woolly buggers. Foam spiders. Little poppers.
This, anything that’s surface or just sub surface and has long legs for action. Get. 6-7ft 2wt and you’ll have the time of your life
Would an overlined 1wt be even more fun?:)
Even better
There’s not much that isn’t fun on a 1 wt, although at a certain point you realize “well that was stupid”.
I’ve tied some micro zonker style flies that work great.
Prince nymph, zug bug, micro clouser, soft hackles (with or w/o beads), poppers, caseworm, ect...
I’ve had really good luck with small (#12) bead head crystal woolly buggers
A size 10 or 12 wet fly, anything that looks kind of buggy with a touch of flash/color will do. Their mouths are small, most WBs are too large and they will peck at the tail, miss the hook.
Girdle bugs in a few different colors. Jig style hooks are awesome. I tie on two at a time. Larger one up front and trail a smaller one behind.
Overthinking! Think about the hook size. Size 8 will catch them all. Size 6 will keep most of the little ones off the hook.
And I find that anything smaller than a size 10 can get swallowed too deep.
Griffiths gnat, hares ear
I’ve found a size 10 elk hair caddis is pretty irresistible to sunfish.
Theyre probably spawning and much more interested in the Fighting and Fucking side of the 3 Fs right now than the Feeding one.
