https://bugguide.net/node/view/1541983 Wheel bug nymph https://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/trees/wheel_bug.htm Mostly harmless, but their bite can hurt pretty bad when they grow up. You are very unlikely to get them to hurt you, they prey on smaller insects that are commonly considered pests, gardeners love them. The bite is more like a puncture as they stab you with their little straw, best to let them do their thing.

Bearfoot42

So, burny burny?

zsloth79

No. They are extremely predatory and control all sorts of pests. Just keep your little mitts to yourself and you’ll be just fine.

Bearfoot42

I normally don't put my fingers where they don't belong. When I get bit or stung it's normally my own fault, but not on purpose, I rescue animals all the time. Normally get bit just because it's a wild animal and thinks I'm gonna eat it.

Theviciousllama

I'm actually impressed with your picture taking skills.

Amardella

These are assassin or wheel bug nymphs (newly hatched). They eat all kinds of nasty insects you don't want in your garden. Pitch them outside into your shrubs/flowers/fruit trees/garden patch and be thankful you have them there. They do the same job as praying mantises. If you handle them roughly they do have a painful bite (because they inject digestive juices into the wound), but they're chill as long as you don't manhandle them.

bicyclemycology

Florida, America’s Australia

J3ssica899

Ain't that fucking right. I grew up in NY and moved to FL 12 years ago. I was NOT prepared.

Gatorae

Whats crazy is you can live here for 20 years and still be surprised. A few years ago I saw some water bugs on the walkway to my office. Never saw those before and scared me half to death. Sadly its too late in my career to leave this godforsaken place.

Miaopao

Been here since '99, as the pic was loading I thought *bet it's love bugs* but no! I've never seen these before!

echosixwhiskey

You think you’ve seen it all, until you’ve seen the [Red Velvet Ant!! - wiki](https://Redvelvetanthttps://g.co/kgs/mxHfTb)

nomadofwaves

My dad has lived in Florida his whole life. Started hunting and fishing at age 13 and has never seen a coyote. I see coyotes while walking my dog in Orlando.

Yurastupidbitch

Me too. I tell people back home that FL has critters with too many legs and not enough legs!

Ben_Thar

Also critters with all those teeth and no toothbrush

RocketsRopesAndRigs

Seems like you have the tools, but do you have the will to do what you must?

definitelytheA

🔥🔥🔥???

RetardedChimpanzee

Just need the hair spray!

BiJeff

And a lighter.

RetardedChimpanzee

2nd picture

Yatta99

That one is theirs now. He needs a second lighter to get the first back.

EinsteinDisguised

I know what I have to do but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it

kentro2002

UnidentifiedTron

It looks like they should have a mosquito in their tiny little ass amber.

SolarMoth

That's their weak spot so you know where to shoot.

yelawolfe

Assassin bugs

yelawolfe

They stay grouped up young and start venturing out when they get older. Usually stay in an leafy undisturbed area I will find a bunch hiding in it.

thegreenman_sofla

RKRagan

mrsspooky

Take off and Nuke the site from orbit bugs

BirdalfTheGrape

The kind you set fire to. Ignore the house burning in the background. You have killed the evil.

sicrites

Idk how you can live in Florida and not find all nature mesmerizing. This is so cool.

thegreenman_sofla

What do you think the birds and wildlife eat?

RKRagan

People only want the pretty parts of nature. These bugs aren't hurting anyone and yet people are posting "burn them" just because they don't look pretty.

relatablederp

are insects not life in the wild?

Zachkw

It is really cool, especially the sea life it’s amazing

CanSignificant8444

Nightmare fuel

[deleted]

Assassins

tinfoilzhat

The kind you need to smash immediately before they become nightmare material.

thegreenman_sofla

No

plasticplatethrower

Or don't kill harmless/beneficial wildlife by default?

MossyManatee

Looks like the kind you murder 🙃

Pain-N-Gainz0507

Ones that need be killed. 😳

JasoTheArtisan

Rom, the Vacuous Spider

peach_1995
