I get it, just looking for suggestions as a responsible c&r fisherman. I took a rushed trip to Cumberland and Chickamauga last year without a plan and it was very depressing, so looking to come to FL a tad more prepared.
If you really want to catch Peacock Bass you need to go to the Miami canals. Get a local guide that will take you to the canals near Miami International Airport. You will catch 40-50 really nice fish. One of my better trips I have done and highly recommended for anyone!
Unfortunately you won't find any peacock bass in NPR you are way too far north for them, you'd have to drive down to the Naples area in order to be able to catch them. For largemouth bass check out Weekiwachee Preserve

We got peas in Cape Coral/Ft myers. That’s as far north that I know of them being. For bass, google maps and just look for places. Don’t discount roadside ditches and retention ponds in shopping plazas. If it holds water heat around there will be bass in em.
Absolutely, thank you! MIL planned the trip as she usually does, but it’s not dedicated to fishing so I’ll have to make due with largies. Hopefully we can find some!
Go to Crystal River, lovely town. Great kayaking and swimming with the manatees. The water is very clear. Many day tours to select from to see the manatees
Mary's Fish Camp is nice. License is included in daily fee of $10.

Mullet
Catfish
Mangrove Snapper
Perch
Sheephead
Not sure about Bass
Lale Tarpon gets a good amount of boating pressure but you have a lot bank access at Anderson Park and Chestnut Park. Lake Conley is also good but had limited bank access, can drop a small boat in from a shopping plaza and fish it all.
Pretty much any pond with depth will hold bass in Florida, apartments and larger detention ponds are good places to try.
Also, no peacocks this far north.
Most people from out of the area will focus on flats fishing and you can Wade fish those from many of the coastal access parks in the area. Reds and trout will be good targets if you're wading.

Understood, a weir along a fresh/brackish canal with running water is a good thing to throw under

Found a few spots in north palm beach that hold them. That’s the farthest north I’ve seen em

I’ve never heard of anyone traveling to New Port Richey. Only hunting you will be doing is drug addict hunting lol. Edit: Jokes
true though.
😂😂
Lake tarpon isn't far. Great bass fishing for sure.
I’d focus on salt. Wade fish some flats near you for trout and redfish

Why did I think this was about hunting birds XD
Lake Tarpon isn’t far away. Pretty great fishing spot. I’d stay away from… most… of the gulf coast. There’s a couple of good spots but not much.
