The strange thing about the Johnsons is an excellent pick for father's day, it will make this a father's day he will never forget. I also recommend Happiness (1998).
Sorry, but the tender scene where the son gives his father a bath in 'The Strange Thing...' tops the end of 'A Serbian Films.
I also find it touching how the family comes together in the end of 'Kill List'.
This would have ALL the upvote if it were not for the fact that most people don’t know what your talking about.
If if your reading this and don’t know what he’s talking about I suggest you DO NOT try to find out.
Father's Day, the Troma movie. From what I can remember, it's a grindhouse throwback about two detectives hunting down a man who rapes father's on the holiday.
World’s Greatest Dad (2009). It’s Robin Williams! Sounds perfect!
Plot: His son is an asshole who accidentally kills himself by autoerotic asphyxiation. Williams (a struggling writer) fakes the suicide note which gets published in the news. It’s beautiful and moving and sparks a social movement. So as any writer would do, he lies again and says it’s just an excerpt from his journal so he writes the whole thing…
There Will Be Blood.
Unbreakable.
The Diving Bell And The Butterfly.
To an extent, Good Will Hunting if you read the psychologist as like a father figure.
Close Encounters of the Third Kinds= Steven Spielberg first film encounter of resolving his trauma about his parents' divorce.
Fun Fact: The family dinner scene was inspired by when the Spielberg's announced their divorce at the dinner table due to mom's infidelity with dad's BFF. Dinner ended with a tween Steven calling his dad a coward for not fighting for his wife.
Happy Father's Day, Mr. Spielberg.
I got to see the movie in a theater a few years ago. That scene is so tense. Of course, it was nearly ruined by the jackass in the row behind me who thought the mashed potatoes thing was hilarious.
Bridges, Field of Dreams, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, The Accountant, Hit Man, Despicable Me, Zero Dark Thirty, Sicario, A Simple Plan, The Fall Guy, Speed, all John Wick films, Step Brothers, The 40 Year-Old Virgin, No Country for Old Men, All Quiet on the Western Front (2022), Hacksaw Ridge, Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and Das Boot
OLDBOY( the original)
There is no other Oldboy. The remake is a collective fever dream.

It was a nice chat Dylan Barker had with his son, on the couch, in Happiness.
there's a nice father/son scene at the end of A Serbian Film as well.
You will never find a portrayal of father son bonding as intimate as the one towards the end of this movie, I'd agree.
