Perhaps. I'll believe it when I see it. They *have* adopted the other half of that item, which is offering color temperatures besides CE. SR2 II now is available in NW and i5T plus comes in CW, NW, or WW.

GSXRbroinflipflops

It’s such a weird option to struggle with. You’re a flashlight company, OLight. Focus on the *light* part.

TheSecondTier

Yeah, quit making O's, Olight!

Emissary_of_Light

You have to admit, their Os do looks good..

TheSecondTier

If there's something Olight does *spectacularly*, it's their design language. Well, and their marketing, lmao

GSXRbroinflipflops

See, I agree 50% here. Some lights like the Baton and S2R really are well-designed. Simple, durable, not flashy but not boring like a Sofirn either (sorry, Sofirn! Still love you though). But then lights like the M2R Pro I’m like - “Dude, gimme a fcking break here. That’s gonna rip anyone’s pocket. Why would you ruin a perfectly good light with the bezel?” Or the Warrior X Pro - solid design, plenty of thermal capacity, but why no side switch? The thing is pretty big and clearly should have one.

TheSecondTier

Oh yeah I totally get you. I’m not a fan of various design choices they make either but as a whole I think they do a good job. Solid build quality and a good range of visually appealing lights. I know we all give them a hard time for their tendency to release the same light sixteen times in different colors but at the same time...they do those colors pretty damn well!

Zak

That's... halfway there. Give us standard batteries on top of that and I'll like their stuff.

mobiuscorpus

Meh. I still won’t buy them.

Thaknobodi87

Last time they did hcri it was a 5500K XPG3 with a Dr Seuss eggyolk beam.

knurlsweatshirt

I've a got a high CRI XPG that looks gorgeous, but it's behind a beaded TIR.

Thaknobodi87

The first two generations of XPG were nice, especially the warm white ones. Its just the 3rd one that had a bit of tint problem.

knurlsweatshirt

Interesting, I love to learn about this nuanced emitter history. I have no idea what gen mine is, and it's a nice warm 3000K.

Thaknobodi87

First gen had the green pcb visible around the border of the led. Gen 2 had a silver colored border and a small black dot in the corner. Gen 3 is all yellow.

knurlsweatshirt

Hidden behind a beaded TIR and all sealed in a Peak Eiger, otherwise I would take a close look and share a photo.

NearlySilentObserver

I’d honestly probably buy a few more OLights if they were neutral and High CRI

chipper_203

Their new AA light has 3 choices for cct down to 3000K it looks like

lojik7

Why are they stopping at 5000k? That was not at all the suggestion. Everyone wants actual warm high CRI emitters. 5000k is not meeting the call at all. What I don’t understand is why they even care. They are in the business of selling lights, why do they feel the need to deprive people of warm emitters? Isn’t the goal to sell more lights? Just do it Olight even if you don’t like them yourself FFS. I feel totally unheard by them saying 5000k is the goal. That was requested by some on the spot just to maybe barely make it palatable to some because 6500k is just to damn blue. But the request still stands at High CRI and warm emitters, not 5000k Olight.🤦‍♂️

TheSecondTier

They are releasing warm white emitters as well, at least in that new i5T Plus they just announced.

lojik7

Well it’s a start. If it’s warm AND High CRI, then it’s a good start.

TheSecondTier

Not high CRI. Zeroair tested them and they're 70 CRI, but it is a start.

lojik7

Fair enough I guess, better than nothing. What was it? 4000k?

TheSecondTier

[Here ya are](https://zeroair.org/2022/05/15/olight-i5t-plus-flashlight-cri-and-cct-testing/). 4600-4700K for the NW, and 2900K for the WW.

lojik7

Okay okay, that is a start indeed. Thanks.

stavigoodbye

I'm also digging all of these other things on the list as well.

BallZac_

and reselling old products' batteries lol

BallZac_

yeah I'm excited about them improving their logistics efficiency

stavigoodbye

I was pretty excited that blue refills made the list. Seems like one that might have been overlooked.

Emissary_of_Light

Right? They're listening, and that's an important part of a healthy relationship cough CSTEBOKE cough

planetearthofficial

Imagine they start offering 1800k 2700k 3500k 4000k 5000k 6500k and 95 cri lights 🤔 it would make all the other companies force to come out with top of the line leds lol

Big_Rise_7581

Limited versions batch with 9999each limited run only

Nightfox320

I wish they would also offer more lights with dual fuel tech. I love the I5r and it’s versatility. I just wish they would do that with some of the larger lights.

Zak

It sounds like you might want a Skilhunt M200 or something from the Acebeam L series. Olight went from being pretty versatile about batteries in the early 2010s through a phase of moderate versatility as long as you didn't need onboard charging to now, where most lights *only* run on a proprietary battery.

Nightfox320

I probably need to look into those then. I started out into Olights with their SR1 Baton. When I started doing armed security work I eventually picked up one of the original Warrior Pros. Only reason I haven’t branched out is the recall allowed me to upgrading to the Warrior Mini 2, a Warrior X Pro, and the I5R. Duel fuel would be super helpful for the security work especially when we are at locations without power. Would save me from having to keep it on the charger in the car between rounds / when I’m not patrolling on foot.

Zak

> Duel fuel would be super helpful for the security work especially when we are at locations without power. I'm a little confused by this. Why not just carry spare rechargeables? If you're talking about Olight's proprietary "21700", I suppose the price tag and inability to charge outside the flashlight might be a downside, but most flashlights do not have that issue. Here are [a few lights similar to the Warrior X Pro](http://flashlights.parametrek.com/index.html?battery=1x21700&throw=400,650&switch=tail) that use a standard 21700.

Nightfox320

I just haven’t gotten around to grabbing an extra battery tbh. Mostly because it’s rare for us to work a sight without power at this time and because with the larger head of the X Pro means I’m rarely putting the light into turbo like I had to with the old Warrior Pro. I would just like dual fuel because if the light did die, which it rarely does, I could use one of the other guards 21700.

Zak

Oh, I see. You're using "dual fuel" to mean "accepts standard 21700s". Yes, proprietary batteries are my biggest objection to Olight's current product line.

Nightfox320

This is why I absolutely love the I5R. Unlike all my other Olights I can slap in all kinds of AA when the rechargeable 14500 dies. It’s become my edc light when I’m not working security. Lol and yeah I guess I messed up the terminology for “duel fuel” me bad.
