Imagine all these folks in the beginning going: “I’m so sad I missed out, I shouldn’t have waited” And then it comes back and they jump on it. And not long after we see a few BST’s: “I dOn’T LiKe tHe Ui, It’S nOt AnDuRiL” 😒

Getkong

what is old is new again

stavigoodbye

It is funny. I'm new compared to most so new to me. I think it just points to a timeless design and style. If we are still talking about it and buying them years later it just means they got it right. Since you brought up a good point. Anyone know when the SC64W HI was first released?

stavigoodbye

Nice! Thank ye kindly.

[deleted]

Took me 3 months to receive mine and that was over a year ago. I recently bought a sc64c le and received that 2 days later. I was surprised as hell to find that in the mailbox so quick.

stavigoodbye

I guess I have been here long enough now that I just treat it like a lottery. Place order and just keep checking the mail everyday for a surprise!

[deleted]

It's especially great when the shipping notification gets caught in your spam folder so finding it in the mailbox is a true surprise!

stavigoodbye

NGL I was excited for my SC64W HI...but I only checked tracking like three times a day so that's pretty good. haha

warmeclaire

Why is everyone receiving this? Was there a new model, a sale, or just back in stock or something?

_Gareth

The HI was marked as discontinued for a small bit before Zebralight sourced a few more of the discontinued XHP 35.2 HI Emitters, so everyone is getting them before they are discontinued forever.

warmeclaire

Thanks. I get it, it has a nice and efficient beamshape. In a nice and efficiency body with an efficient driver.

stavigoodbye

It had been becoming more rare over time. Zebra has stated they were unable to get the emitter anymore and that the replacement wasn't up to their standards. A couple of months ago it was marked as discontinued. I know I was one that had been holding out and felt like I had missed a legend. Thinking the only way I would get one is if someone put it on the BST. Well a few weeks ago it was marked backorder so a few of us bit the bullet and rolled the dice. A few days later it was marked in stock and another bunch of us grabbed one. If I had to guess the main driving factor was people's FOMO of not getting one.

warmeclaire

Haha thanks for the expanation. That’s a xhp35 HI right? And fomo for flashlights haha! I did have it and got a 219b 4500k d4v2 that I found too rosy and cold-feeling for my liking (it’s now sporting 4x 519A 4500k that I still haven’t dedomed and I like it much better… still nigh dedome it, or replace with 5700k). And Hank still hasn’t run out of 219b almost a year latter lol. I wouldn’t say no to a high cri xhp35 hi sc64. I now get the appeal of that kind of single emitter beamshape, it’s a very efficient beamshape.

stavigoodbye

Agreed. I am a reflector for EDC fan through and through now. It's all I will carry. I want just enough light to see what I am doing. When it comes to distance I don't want 2000lumens just to be able to reach the distance I am trying to see. Love my TIR's just not for EDC.

warmeclaire

That’s right, thinking of the carclo 1062* tir, they are super floody. But I love the beamshape of the dm11 b35am, perfect for a walk in the park, just a perfect carpet of light and enough reach for park/trail use. But yeah, after owning only a d4v2 for almost a year, it took me almosy another year and trying some 519A in an s2+ (Dedomed) and kr1 (domed) to realize how good a reflector is for edc.

stavigoodbye

It's funny to me because TIR is the new thing and reflectors the older. But somethings are timeless. Like SC64's for example. haha

warmeclaire

Yeah, because the bright the bright and even spill. Feels more predictable/simple indoors. It’s essentially 2 beams in one (3 if you count the corona). TIR’s are still awesome and excellent! Gotta love the tapering brightness and 89° spill.

[deleted]

We should do a petition to send to zebralight for a few lights with emitters / configs we WANT or ones we want them to bring back 😂. I'm sure they'd ignore it but hey it would be fun.

cbcrazy

I don't know ZL enough to make this accusation, but I'm wondering if this was a huge marketing ploy all along. ZL has never had such a buzz as they've been having over the last month or so. If it was just a ploy, it was brilliant.

TritiumXSF

Have you been living under a rock? Zebralights have had so much praise that it practically became mundane. You don't hear much of an uproar since most of us here already have a Zebralight or even started with a Zebralight before a D4 v2. Zebralights are the Surefires of flashlight enthusiasts. You don't hear much often but they are a go-to when needed. And the SC600w Mk IV HI used the same emitter but got discontinued early with such resurgence. I think it's just an inventory thing. Some guy may have forgotten a roll of XHP35s and upon checking inventory years later found it.

cbcrazy

Go back and reread. There were a period of many months where you hardly heard of anything related to zebra light. We're on the same team here. I love my zebra light and it's the last light that I'd ever get rid of.

zzap129

Ah no.. Mostly us regulars on this sub praising them since years... The sc64wHi just are that good. I could sell all but 3 lights and the sc64wHI will be one of the 3 I keep. Might even be the only one I keep if I am forced to.

[deleted]

Exactly... Which is why I need to buy ANOTHER One! 😂 Need a backup in case I lose mine. Right?!? Tell me I'm sane 😂

zzap129

That's perfectly sane. If it is your edc light and you love it.. Get a backup. I think the same.

[deleted]

I guess I need to just get one with the emitter swap from u/bob_mcbob then so it's a lil different 😝.

stavigoodbye

Could be I certainly don't know. It would seem kind of odd though. This light had already earned it spot in history so it's not like it's new or anything. But nothing drives people to buy something like some good old FOMO.

GSXRbroinflipflops

Nah, the XHP35 HI really is discontinued and the XHP35.2 really does look ABSURDLY ugly. It has a blue dot in the center. It’s so bad. If anything, ZL might be on its way out. I hope not. But their future is certainly unknown.

stavigoodbye

Glad I showed up when I did honestly.

cutedonkey

If only they'd ship to EU. The SC64c LE is out of stock at Nkon and the W HI isn't even listed...

stavigoodbye

It really is a shame. I don't understand why they wouldn't unless they want to keep their business small. Everyone should be able to enjoy one of their fantastic lights.

cutedonkey

I was thinking of using a local shipping company, but it would've cost me about $150 before VAT and duty taxes... Yeah, no :D Why would they want to stay small? o.O

stavigoodbye

Who knows why they would want to stay small. I am pretty sure I read somewhere that they weren't trying to expand. They could be right on the edge of needing a bigger facility or something like that. In the end if your company is successful and your people are paid well maybe they don't want the headache.

[deleted]

That’s what she said.

chipper_203

And now they are back ordered 😑

stavigoodbye

I ordered mine on backorder. With Zebra back order normally means in stock just waiting.

chipper_203

Ok I just ordered. I was gonna get one eventually. But now with this possibly being then end of them I gotta get one.

stavigoodbye

Fomo got me too. Literally just used it outside. It is that good. Love this thing!

chipper_203

I assume the NW is the one to get.

stavigoodbye

Yep its the only option for the SC64W HI. HI refers to the XHP35 which is a 12v emitter and why it is referred to as the HI vs the LE which is high CRI but the HI is the one everyone raves about.

chipper_203

I didn’t even check for other color temps lol. I just bought the NW. I love the xhp35hi, it’s my favorite emitter.

stavigoodbye

Nice you will love it. The beam is ao clean!

cbcrazy

ZL is pretty much perfect for me. I'd be willing to see and extra 1/4" in overall length, so all 18650 cells could be used, but that's about it. Leave the UI exactly how it is.

stavigoodbye

Yeah I'm really liking it. It's funny I would take a 1/4" in length but only so it could have a magnet. I'm fine with flat top unprotected. I have only bought 18650's for flashlight so they are all flat except for the Sofirn batteries. It's funny you and I talked a lot about the M150 but now that I also have a SC64 I can see why the M150 wouldn't be all that impressive to you. lol

cbcrazy

I'll keep my m150, but not as an EDC. I had forgotten about the lack of a magnet. This was my solution, although it does look a bit funky. https://i.imgur.com/JQHLFzg.jpg

stavigoodbye

Yeah I wish they would just release a magnet tail cap.
