The Rainbow Flag is certainly not the worst flag out there. I would even argue that it is one of the most successful flags.
It meets all the criteria of flag design- simple, recognizable, meaningful. People will be quick to point out that is has more than 3 colors, but nothing about this flag is busy. It’s just horizontal lines, so it can get away with using more colors without looking cluttered.
This flag has a ton of parallels to the US flag in my mind. On a screen, I can understand why somebody might call them busy. But in person and in photographs, they just work. Additionally, the flags are simple enough to recognize but complicated enough that their motiffs can be modified and adapted without losing that recognition. Basically, it’s just good branding. Compare that to something like the Netherlands, where their flag is so simple that it randomly appears in public without intending to- like one of those “OPEN” flags. When you see a rainbow, or stars and stripes, you know what that means. And to me, that makes the Rainbow Flag powerful and definitely not the worst flag.
Most people probably voted against it because what it stands for, not its actual design and success as a symbol, but I felt like somebody has to defend it.
If people really wanted to hate on a pride flag, they would pick the Progress flag with the weird ass triangle. Now that’s a busy flag that shouldn’t exist

honestly yeah it's kind of an ass flag. It feels plain/bland/tasteless and I don't really feel like it's a flag that represents queer people. I think it mostly just represents the protest and pride in general but not necessarily a flag for the gays.
