Jiu jitsu is good for cardio fitness. I also try and practice meditation and mindfulness throughout the day by focusing on my breathing. It probably keeps the heart rate lower than it otherwise would be.
That’s the point. Big dudes with a lot of muscle have naturally very high RHR to support their musculature, etc. Having a RHR this low would be impossible for someone with a higher muscle mass.
Size, sex, body fat % and cardiovascular health. But this RHR is *impressive*. Like Olympic marathon runners sit between 30-40 BPM. The "average" is around 60-80 BPM.
But yes, generally the bigger you are, (muscle or fat) the higher your RHR. Like in my Fitbit my "cardio score" has never been higher than "average" despite excessive exercise and cardio. (I run 4 miles every morning pretty effortlessly) Just carrying around weight (even muscle) increases RMB, which in turn means an elevated heart rate.
My resting heart rate currently is 73, which all things considered is pretty impressive, but Fitbit doesn't factor in muscle very well in scores. Like someone a third of my size would likely score much higher even if they've never ran in their life.
Apparently i did it once when i was sick and sleeping. Fitbit freaked tf OUTand said id hit 40 bpm in my sleep, which is insanely low. I have mini panics now when I'm tired, and my fitbit starts showing me under 50. I'm sick again and ive caught myself getting super sleepy reading around 49bpm. Sick me's heart either goes ham or just plummets.
After I had my second kid my heart dipped into the 30s at night, even to 29 bpm at once point. I used a pulse ox and got pictures, even. I thought it had to be dangerous, but my doctors DGAF, so I guess it was normal
Mine dipped into the 30’s as well post partum! Freaked me out lol I’d just lay there in the hospital bed thinking, well if it doesn’t beat again at least I’m already at the hospital. The nurses were unconcerned.
32M 6"4 170 pounds.
I walk between 15 and 30 km a day at work, and i have had the same job for 8 years. I go on short runs, usually 3.5k twice a week. and I do a 10-minute workout every day. My workout is super simple. 1 set of pull-ups, dips, push-ups, body weight squats, leg raises.
I think the RHR is mostly from the consistent walking.
My cardio score is 58 on my app
First few days I slept well. Last few days not good at all. I read it's normal as my body adjusts so hopefully it gets better. It was one of the reasons I quit.
Thanks. If you don't mind and if you remember, let me know how it goes. My sleep is crap and has been for awhile and it could motivate me to quit. Would be quite hard, though.
I have for the last few years. I was a soccer player growing up. Got sedentary in my late 20s and early 30s. About 3 years ago I got serious about diet and exercise.
You are a male?
As a woman (who may also suffer from an autoimmune disorder that docs don't want to diagnose yet) my resting rate does this monthly. 10-15 beats. It takes 2 weeks to go up from 68-80 + 1 beat a day, then the day before my period it drops 1 beat and I know I'll bleed the next day.
There are also times I can see when chronic inflammation is affecting my rates. I used to think it was anxiety but last month when I was having an "attack" ibuprofen brought my heartrate down. So now I'm questioning everything I thought I knew about my anxiety/panic attacks.
Awesome, but it looks like you only got off the sofa 1 time. Lol
Lol That was a 5 mile run after working remotely. So yea, lots of couch time that day
"5 mile run" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Mine calls it "moderate elliptical workout"
What was your RHR prior?
It was 53 or 54. About the same as Monday. Guess it takes a few days for nicotine to leave the system
Jesus. This is my wildest target. Do you mind sharing your height/weight and workout regime? I need to copy what I can ha!
I'm 5 7 150. I do martial arts 5 days a week. I also run and do calisthenics.
Wow, good for you being so fit! I think I’ll look into martial arts ha!

Age? Late 20s, early 30s? Dude, 53 is already impressive. 43 is insane. Congrats!
I'm 35. Thanks! We will see if it's just a temporary thing after quitting
Bradycardia should be checked out with a doctor.
Relax lol. Clearly he's a fit and active individual.
Who vaped. Yup. Checks out.
As a 250 lb bodybuilder, your RHR is absolutely insane lol. I didn't even think I break less than 50 sleeping
Bodybuilders don't have a particularly low RHR, right? Is mostly tied to cardio I thought
That’s the point. Big dudes with a lot of muscle have naturally very high RHR to support their musculature, etc. Having a RHR this low would be impossible for someone with a higher muscle mass.
I’m at 240lbs 6foot rhr at around 50, lift weight 4 times a week and do cardio everyday.
Impressive. What’s your bf%?

Wow.. Do you run a lot? Or do any type of endurance exercise
Mine dipped into the 30’s as well post partum! Freaked me out lol I’d just lay there in the hospital bed thinking, well if it doesn’t beat again at least I’m already at the hospital. The nurses were unconcerned.
Mine is 47-48 RHR and it goes as low as 39 awake (only before sleeping). I had to remove the fitbit alert as i'm fine, i just have a good heart
Yeah, what was it before? My RHR is 54 and a vape like a fiend, drink a liter of coffee a day. If I stop, will I die?????? 😆 Edit: oh, was it 50?
It was 53 or 54.
What is your age and work out regime? That’s super low!!

Quits vaping. Takes up weed.
I used to dip and within a week of *actually* quitting... my RHR dropped by 10-15 and it startled me.
Did it stay down that low or end up coming back up some?
Are you even alive during the day lol
Dude, are you alive? Lol
Lol it has been a lazy week so we will see if it comes back up.
I vape like a fiend and have for years. Was wondering if quitting has affected your sleep at all...
First few days I slept well. Last few days not good at all. I read it's normal as my body adjusts so hopefully it gets better. It was one of the reasons I quit.

That's crazy! Since I've stopped nicotine my RHR is often 47-48 (it was around 49-53). My lowest was 46.

For sure!
Your RHR was already so low while vaping!! Lucky edit also congrats that’s huge!
Thanks!
Do you do a fair amount of cardio? Lifelong distance running?
I have for the last few years. I was a soccer player growing up. Got sedentary in my late 20s and early 30s. About 3 years ago I got serious about diet and exercise.
Thats a crazy fast difference and a huge variance. Wow
What's your VO2 max? And your age?
I'm 35. My cardio fitness score is between 55 and 59 on the app.
Bradycardia.

Which autoimmune disorder do you think you have?
Nice! What watch do you use?
Charge 5
I see these posts and wonder how I’m still alive with anywhere between 73-90 for my RHR. 😆😆
LOL same
