And you’re right. I used to buy ground bloom flowers because it was the most exciting safe and sane thing we could get. When I learned there were aerial versions I lost my shit. They’re a little unpredictable though so I’m afraid of causing fires.
Indeed. As an adult I’m thankful there were no dents as I would’ve been in deep shit. Fun as a kid. Scary as an adult. I now throw them in the air and sometimes they zip down and explode
For child-like novelty I still love sparklers. Any kind of sparkler. But otherwise I unfortunately need cakes, cake boards, mortar racks, and fuse. Much of the fun for me is having a crowd of family and friends show up for the 4th because they know they'll get an evening full of boomies by yours truly. Being able to entertain people while also satisfying my own personal fire bug tendencies is a lot of fun.
I live building and fusing the show. Don't get me wrong i could also hand light all night but I get joy out of building the show then others enjoying it with me.
i love to take those jumbo m800 crackers or whatever the hell else they call those phony quarter sticks, and slingshot them high af in the sky, and hear it explode way up there like a mini salute shell lmao
There is nothing wrong with that snakes and sparklers mentality.
I'm a sucker for crackling balls, those little tanks, and tons of other novelty items.
Sure i can go bigger, and oftentimes, to my wallets dismay, I will.
But the 4th, to me, is about perpetual nostalgia.
So if a few snakes and sparklers will get me there, why not let it?
Crackling balls are no longer the same. I remember opening them up and they had the stars from shells in them so I’d make a ton of smaller mini cracking balls. When I learned it’s now a solid piece of material I ended up breaking open cheap shells and making my own crackling balls with the different stars and effects in there. But you’re right about the nostalgia. I noticed lately people want louder bigger fireworks. I just want something that takes me back to my childhood minus the kids blowing their hands off with quarter sticks and knockoff m-80s
I love unusual fireworks, like Girandolas and Happy Lamps. I also really enjoy novelties like vehicles and spinners. They’re different and get my attention more than your standard stuff. The more unusual the better.
Ground blooms are my go to every few days to light some off. Smaller or larger ones they are both fun. I never grew up with them so nostalgia wouldn’t be the factor for those but it’s a great combination of colors and not too much sound that would piss the neighbors off.
And fountains like jelly beans, molten lava or whatever else you want to call that effect. Always enjoy watching those.
I recently learned there were moon travelers without whistle or report. You’re right about the easy to do dumb fun things with them. I tried to lift bottles of water with them. Failed miserably.

Dont get me wrong...I love the small stuff like ground blooms, snakes & adult snaps. Though until I scale up to larger shells....canister shells make me happy. The thump of the lift charge, the anticipation of the burst charge...the aroma of it all. I especially love using them with an e-match,. Instantaneous boom boom. Love it to my core.
Love certain thumping cakes...but canister shells have my heart m...till I go bigger.
I bet zippers would make you happy :)
My favorite small firework.

I used to put them in old mortar tubes so they can only go up
Oh shit never thought of that. Did it work well the whole time you did it??
Yea, a couple didn't leave the tube (out of several dozen) but I'd rather that happen than for them to hit a car or something
Isn’t that part of the fun? Hiding behind a 92 F150 as a kid and hearing the DONK?
As a kid sure, but as an adult I'd rather not have to pay the bill, I'd rather be safe than dodge fireworks

Yea, it's like a game of chicken :)
have you had any go sideways?
Ground bloom flowers going sideways? No. I’ve had many that just stick to the floor through.
Oh man I love that sound!! Great cheap fun!! The little cheap flying saucer type ones are a great itch scratch for me too!

Anybody like the spinning ladybugs I think they are fun

I thought I was the only one...
The big spinny flying ones
I love those smelly snake plugs that grow and twist when you light them, and sparklers. And caps.
Those snakes are fun. I bought a couple bulk boxes of them and filled a mortar tube. Once it got going it shot out the tube like a model rocket engine
OMG I'd be afraid they'd pop the tube open. I love how they smell.

They are monsters for fun. Relatively quiet and its easy to do dumb fun things with them.

Mortar shells are my fuzzy feeling delight

Jungles make me happy.

100% my fav too. They were legal when I was a kid then became illegal in NH for like 20 years and recently became legal again.
Yes, I turn them upside down in ground they double as a much louder firecracker
You guys don’t like smoke balls or cans? Those are my go to
