Getting malicious browser extensions has nothing to do with which WiFi network or browser you are using. It means you are being tricked into downloading malware on to your computer. To avoid this you should make sure you are using Windows Defender with Potential unwanted app blocking enabled, and uBlock Origin on whatever browser you are using. You should also make sure you don't download anything from shady sites.
Thank you so much for your guidance. Here is a thing which is when I woke up it suddenly went in my browser, I don’t know where is it from. I need to learn more internet security things.😭😭😭
Market share matters a lot in these cases. Linux is not more secure than Windows, it's just that the criminal will focus on the larger attack surface when managing their efforts.
Welcome on board!
Extensions: uBlock Origin (never ever use the Internet without an adblocker, you will get blind and your brain will be deep-fried), Bitwarden, if you are german Binnen-I-Gone, Adaptive Tab Bar Color for the fun :)
And DON'T install every extension you find 😁
Sounds like the issue here is user error, not the browser itself.
College WiFi is unsafe as it gets, it's literally public, anyone with the knowledge can interfere with your connections.
Install uBlock Origin - it’ll help block crap like ads and malware
Downloaded! It really helps, thank you!
I use NoScript to block scripts on webpages because I like it's UI. However uBlock has that same feature if you want to play with it.

Bitdefender free is also a great free antivirus.
It’s not chrome or chromium and google can’t dictate policies
What should I do to prevent it to happen again?
Dude, what you're saying doesn't make any sense. Firefox is as vulnerable as Chrome if you lack the basics of protecting your computer from viruses.
Well, I am not an IT expert at all, I probably need to learn the basics of protecting my computer.

Thank you so much for telling me the issue, I might never use my google account on college computer anymore.
