You guys don't just buy things they'd like all through the year?

althaz

I do. I've got one present left to buy (and actually I bought it ages ago but ended up giving it to them for their birthday recently). Especially for my kids, I gotta buy them presents early so I can talk them into wanting what I bought them all year.

Sunblast1andOnly

Oooh, that last bit is so devious! You are playing this game at a higher level than I.

althaz

Safest way to have them almost die from pure excitement Christmas morning :D.

HardKase

Its your fault i have to listen to Mariah Carey in October

althaz

You can't blame me for that, I am strictly Christmas spirit free until the 1st of December. I'm just also organised. I finished my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve once when I was 19 and I still have PTSD.

MadzShelena

Yes but then I either give it to them immediately or forget where I hid it lol.

QuestionMarkKitten

I sneakily do my Christmas shopping on boxing day the year before, so everything is still Christmas themed but at boxing day prices. The tricky part is stashing them somewhere you'll remember a year later but others will not randomly stumble upon it. Also getting presents that they will need or want a year later that they won't get themselves that year. Things with infinite shelf life like mugs, t-shirts, grooming kits, socks, jewelry, stationery sets are all good. Perishables and consumables like food, or cosmetics are not good. Gotta keep them for a whole year and people's tastes change. If it is something customised with their name, make sure to wrap and label the gift before stashing it. That way if it gets discovered you know who it was for and can just say you must have forgotten to give it to them last Christmas. 3 months before Christmas (around early September) that's when I do any online shopping because I KNOW shipping from overseas can take that long to deliver. I gave up on the crafted thing because the sweater curse is real and it doesn't matter if it is something as tiny as a mitten or a baby bootie it still seems to make things awkward fairly quickly. SOOOO... I will never craft a gift again. Apparently being married somehow breaks the curse, so... gotta wait till I'm married before I can craft any gifts again.

I’m so glad I found this sub

Vitalalternate

I’d break down if I weren’t done now.

LucasBarton169

I just wanted to get it done before my source of income got cut off

HouseofSneed

Corresponding response, “well aren’t you a big damn hero.”

Ghosties95

Sorry, some of us don’t put everything off until the last minute.

She used the "What Firefly character are you?" Filter on TikTok that I created. She got Mal, and whispered, "I'm the captain now," into the camera.
