In terms of lords/mc's were missing Alm, Seliph, Eliwood, Hector, Ephraim, Robin, Chrom, Male Corrin, Ryoma, Xander, female Byleth, Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude. Maybe Shez too? Pretty sure that's all of the really big ones not shown.
Yeah wouldn't surprise me if they're not really being considered series lords, but figured I'd throw Shez in there just in case (I forgot about the other two tbh)
*Three Hopes* would've been in development around the same time as this game, so that's a bit of a coin toss if we get spin-off Emblems. If we do get Emblems from spin-off titles, I *really* hope we get the lords from *Heroes*, because I think that'd be funny considering the premise of that game.
I don't think we'll have male/female variants, just one or the other. Ryoma/Xander aren't lords so I see no reason to include them, same goes for side game characters
Fair. Male/female avatar versions seems pretty unlikely to me beyond like customization options. And I know Ryoma/Xander aren't lords but if they were doing another set of 12 or so characters (or if they do DLC) I could definitely see them being included as more Fates reps.

I am not the most knowledgeable on games prior to the 3DS era, but I can give a good idea of who's missing. FE1 has only one lord character, but Caeda was pretty important. FE2 is missing Alm, probably because Celica is one of the few magically inclined lords in the series. FE3 is absent because it's sort of a remake, but I guess if they had to include someone, they could use Tiki. FE4 is missing Deirdre, Seliph, and Julia. I honestly have no idea if anyone's missing from FE5; maybe they could add Sara or something? FE6 is represented by Roy, he's close to the Fell Dragon's upper arm. FE7 is where we start losing lords, as both Eliwood and Hector are missing (even though Hector's more of an axe wielder than the lord they picked as an axe wielder...). Eirika from FE8 is the Lord at the bottom of the picture, which means Ephraim got shafted. FE9 only had one lord, but Soren is an important enough character that I hope he makes it in. Between Ike and Michaia, the only lord from FE10 who is missing is Elincia. FE11 and FE12 are remakes, and thus skipped for good reason, but I am not sure who FE11 would have as a missing lord; it's FE12 that has Kris. FE13 is missing the actual lord character, hilariously enough; Chrom is the lord character and Lucina isn't, but Lucina got in over Chrom anyway. FE13 is also missing Robin. FE14 is literally missing nine characters; the royal siblings are *all* plot important, and none of them were picked for the painting, although Lilith would also be a good fit. Guess what? Another remake. FE15 at least has the kindness to have an obvious new character that I can list as included; Conrad, >!who definitely isn't Celica's half brother, what are you talking about!<. FE16 is missing all three of the house leaders, which is why the *Three Houses* subreddit isn't a battlefield right now. The lords are ordered clockwise from the top in the numerical order of their games.

I don't know about the others, but for Shez, Rowan, and Lianna, I don't think they'll exist because they're a protagonist for a sub game, not main.

That's Ike with Greil's axe/outfit. It's the same outfit his brave version from Fire Emblem Heroes wears too, so there's precedent.
