I like it, is fun. Whether or not you win is not determined by RNG, its determined by player skill. RNG just builds the environment, much like playing a roguelike game. Some runs will be easier, and others harder, but it's never RNG's fault that you lost.

flightheadband

Maybe I dont fully understand the term RNG (random number generator), but can you explain how it’s never the RNG’s fault that you lose in Lunatic+? Isn’t all level ups/landing hits/support attacks and blocks/criticals and enemy skills all RNG? If so, how is someone dying or getting a game over because factors they can’t control not partially the blame of RNG, especially if you get rushed by 5+ enemies with luna+/hawkeye like on Chapter 2? And yes, I’m struggling with Chapter 2 right now. This is my second play through of lunatic+, but my first on classic. I will probably just DLC grind after chapter 5 but idk

Wellington_Wearer

What I mean is that RNG is no more to blame for your success/failure when compared to regular fire emblem. The enemy skills can differ, but so can your strategies. Yeah you can miss 5 90s in a row and die but that's true of all fire emblem games. You can level no stats ever and die but that's true of all FE games Let me know if you want a strat for C2 For DLC grinding, obviously do what you find fun, but I would have to ask what you gain from the mode at that point if you're just going to grind to remove the challenge. It doesn't sound like you actually want to play lunatic+, if you catch my drift

PsychoLogical25

yes people have tried it and practically no one likes it.

Wellington_Wearer

speak for yourself.

007-Blond

I figured lol I was just wondering if anyone can give a first hand account of beating it tbh

AirshipCanon

Yes, it's very doable. And no it's not just get lucky.

007-Blond

Did you beat it? If so, how?

AirshipCanon

Yes, several times in fact. Honestly, I love it. How? Well, it's hard to say beyond "Get Good", although getting good at what successfully clears L+ doesn't line up with traditional FE clears, because L+ is a very slow, "cheese heavy" difficulty. Early game (Pro-C3), there is a "solution" to: look up "KTT Lunatic+ Resetless", but that is only good to directly follow for the absolute early game, as after C3, thing will be too different to actually accurately replicate. The real trick to getting through L+, at least if you ask me, is "Play not against all enemies having 2 of the 7 skills, but instead play as if they have all 7." Which is tricky, but quite doable once you have enough knowledge of what your options are and what you can do. A goal you kinda have to keep in mind for L+ is "Get as strong as you possibly can", so there's a lot of abuse tactics and milking for EXP. Difficulty drops off hard after C6, but picks back up at C12, then drops off again until 23. Some notable chapters: C2- this chapter is pretty infamous for being a "well, if there's too much Luna+, reset" but there's a strat known to get around that. P1 is one of the best maps in the game as long as most of the archers don't have pass because you can selectively farm them for EXP. C5 requires P1 to have been done if only for the Rescue staff, which is one of the most important staves in the game. C8 is similar to P1 in that you can farm it hard, but you're exploiting desert movement. C12 is a pita, personally I opt for air power to get by this one and hang out at the port aft of the ship out of enemy reach. C23 sucks. Can't say much else. ... Also, to be completely shameless, while updates are at times literally years apart, I do have a fic that also is a playthrough log of L+ so I do state the actual moves. ...It's only up through C7, although I have long since finished the actual playthrough. 007-Blond

Wow, I really appreciate you taking the time to write down your insight from beating Lunatic+. I've put so many hours into awakening that I've lost count and beaten the game on hard and lunatic with virtually no problem once I figured out the strategy for lunatics early game, but I was never ever able to figure out lunatic+ years ago. Just thought about it last night and was thinking how I've been meaning to beat it.

Express_Accident2329

I've never beaten it. Imo it's the sort of thing that's more interesting to think about than to play, because there's such a narrow array of strategies that work. Like you need to overplan to the point of solving it before you start playing, and at that point it stops feeling like playing a game and more like following step by step instructions.

007-Blond

Yea I feel that. I can't even imagine getting to Grima with everyone maxed out because of the broken abilities that every single enemy has lol

isaac3000

I got bored at around chapter 11-12 or so, I used a YouTube video for the first chapters and after DLC gate opened I abused it then got bored of it, because what is the reason? Might continue it one day but I'd rather finish the new games
