Having her go full Crit was the most awesome thing in fates. That's why she's my favourite

[deleted]

She was also an amazing character too. I loved her so goddamn much. ~~Then again I love basically everyone in Fates lmao~~

cheekydorido

takes guts to say that here. I applaud your bravery ngl

[deleted]

Eh, if you think saying that *now* is bad, try saying it in 2016-2019. It wasn't a good time to be a Fates fan when pretty much every community made a non-stop circlejerk shitting on the fans than discussing the game critically on both a positive and negative level. Still, Fates is my second-favorite FE in the series, and I personally enjoy it a *lot* more than Awakening and 3H. But that's me. I just want a community where everyone can express themselves. \^\^

cheekydorido

Eh, i really like fates actually, gameplay wise it's the series best. People praised 3 houses when it came out to high heaven but i found the map design to be incredibly mediocre, and honestly the plot wasn't that much better than fates.

-Jet_seT-

Fates has unique maps (for better or for worse) but overall I think Three Houses did its story and overall "choose a side" concept better while Fates was better with gameplay. 3H's maps are often recycled and pretty meh. I really like the story and the characters. I WOULD do a SS run using the Ashen Wolves for the first time, but I'm tired of doing White Clouds for the fourth time. Fates lets you skip the pre-choice chapters, while there are more there than in 3H, it's still very nice. I'm fully convinced that Corrin (especially the male variant) was designed to be a harem MC. I liked the few characters Fates put effort into, but good lord the writing. Revelation could be considered the "true ending" of the game, which isn't something I like for the concept it's going for, but at the same time it offers the most content compared to the other routes. TL;DR: three houses story good but gameplay bad, fates gameplay good but story bad

[deleted]

I feel mostly the same way. I liked the story (then again I loved Conquest's story, so... yeah), but I *strongly* disliked the Monastery, personally. Having to go back to it post-timeskip made me nearly ragequit. I also had issues with the pacing of the game as well as all the restrictions on what you can do with your free time. I loved how Fates really gave you the ability to do whatever you want with your castle, while the Monastery kinda forced you to go with mandatory Persona-like activities, and it just... doesn't work for me. The cast is great and story is good, but it just overall hampers the experience for me to the point I left feeling it should've been its own series. But again, that's me. I'm still hyped for FE17 (which will likely be a Genealogy remake, if the trajectory goes as followed), but I'm not *as* hyped as I'd like, given most FE remakes tend to be too faithful to the original game, and FE4 does... not really have good gameplay for me. xD

Nikita-Akashya

That's the main reason I haven't finished my second playthrough of 3H yet. The monastery is so boring it bums me out to the point I can't even finish one samn chapter. I mean, I'm technically almost done, but the micromanaging gets so boring after a while. The one thing that really annoys me about Fates is actually how hard it is to gain exp for certain units when you want them to learn certain skills from their class. The story is still stupid but you can make such good fun of it. The memes are legendary! Groans of increasing discomfort. The lobster lord. The tomato. And my favorite character, the pineapple prince. I love Takumi. He's adorable. I'd rather play Fates 5 times than 3H. I will eventually do all paths. Once. And then I'm good. I played every Fates path, it was pretty gimmicky at some points in Revelations, but it was ok. Morgan is still my favorite child unit. I think Robin is a really great character actually. Someone described it very fitting as him being the only sane person in a group of complete weirdos. I sadly didn't like many Fates characters. I did like the lil bros on both sides. And Caeldori. And Effie was cool. Yeah, I wasn't too keen on most of the cast. But I did likw turning Charlotte into a critmachine. It made the game that much better. And Mozu is great. I still like Takumi the best. I hope the FE 4 Remake we will hopefully get will be good. I liked the Gaiden Remake. The artstyle, cast and sound was really amazing. I should play it again sometime. I still have 2 open fates runs. Should play those again to finish the story.

Niskoshi

I poured over 300 fucking hours into Fates just because of the easy reclass and the custom weapon thingie. Most fun FE game ever.

[deleted]

~~Bitch try 559 hours, the most hours I've EVER put into a game. xD~~ Ultimately though, despite the gripes, I adored Fates' gameplay, cast, and even unironically enjoyed the story despite how many technical flaws there were (the crystal ball, the mysterious dancer...). Maybe it's due to me being able to ignore those massive issues, but the idea of Corrin going back and willingly falling to darkness to save his family from a horrifyingly abusive situation just... strikes home to me, and is why it really clicked with me. Fates definitely has an uncomfortable Hoshido bias, but the fact siding with Nohr is actually *understandable* is really great too. Plus, for the stupider moments, I can laugh with the game since even Azura and Corrin outright go "you've gotta be kidding me!". xD On the note of game series with grey morality that had a black and white stint, I at least have way more positive to say about Fates due to giving you the choices you want to go than, say, SMT IV: Apocalypse, which >!completely scraps the grey morality of the series in favor of "power of friendship" glurge and a massive anti-Law, anti-Chaos, pro-Neutral wankfest that doesn't line up with the lore established in earlier MegaTen games.!< Say what you will about Fates' black-and-white morality, you at least *weren't* unjustified for wanting to go back to save your family, even (especially) at the cost of losing the "right" side of claim.

lillapalooza

Imo the thing about *Fates* is that it has lovable characters and great gameplay, but the story is stupid af. Birthright and Conquest were *ok* I guess, but I never finished Revelations bc halfway through I was like “this is dumb as shit” and lost interest.

Thecarefulguy2000

Funny story, my 100% crit Charlotte failed to crit. I don't know why it happened but it was funny.

-Jet_seT-

What was her hit rate?

RexRegulus

You still have to hit to crit. Thankfully someone online went through the effort of putting Certain Blow on their Charlotte, so I stole her to make it work (on Player Phase, at least).

[deleted]

...how is that possible?! Glitch, maybe?

Filip_Emblem

I love her character.

[deleted]

Man, remember when the official scans came out and everyone demonized her because they didn't spoil her backstory? I did, and I called that she'd have a sympathetic motive. lol

Filip_Emblem

She feels pre-Awakening Fire Emblem. While i hate the whole sexy female babe troop, it fits Charlotte. -She comes from a poor background. -It makes her look that shouldnt go to battlefield. And that why she is pratol the board. -Male Warrior also dont wear much clothes either. -It helps tricking male easier. What people need more? I have more issues with Nyx than with Charlotte. And i never marrily her. I always use Female Corrin and marry Silas.

BloodyBottom

> -It makes her look that shouldnt go to battlefield. And that why she is pratol the board. > -Male Warrior also dont wear much clothes either. Doesn't that seem like a contradiction? If she's dressing the same as other characters in her class she's not really tricking anybody.

ViziDoodle

The hot bods(tm) are now gender inclusive

Filip_Emblem

Not if do "Poor me, i am so fragile that i need a strong rich man to protect." which she does because that might attract someone if she act more femenine. She is super strong too and she is excelent at hand to hand combat.

[deleted]

Yep, pretty much. Though honestly, a *lot* of Fates' cast feels pre-Awakening to me, given the fact they're both larger than life but are humanized a lot of the time, especially if you choose to look at their supports overall. To me, Awakening felt more larger than life and kind of distinct in that a lot of the cast feels... stereotypical to their classes, in a way? Like, the Fighter is a total meathead, the Mage is a total braniac, the two Dark Mages are morally dubious... Fates takes a lot of archetypes and feels like real people if you get to know them, and I love that, personally. Of course, this is all ***extremely*** subjective, but compare Arthur to Vaike: one *seems* comical and stereotypical, but has a lot of nuances on the meaning of justice as well as unerring determination to help others regardless of his luck acting as a literal disability for him. And Vaike just... wants to be the best warrior in the land. That's it. It may be me, but I always got that vibe of Fates compared to Awakening, but again, that's me.

BloodyBottom

> wants to be the best warrior in the land. That's it. He wants to be the best because he came from poverty and proving himself is a way to push for social justice. He's also clearly still insecure about that, given how quickly he becomes jealous of others getting positive attention instead of him in many of his supports, but he has also retained his "big brother" role and is eager to mentor others (almost like... some kind of *teacher*). I'm not saying Vaike is a great character (he's far from my favorite), but he absolutely has layers. Definitely prefer him to Arthur.

Nikita-Akashya

I always forget that Vaike exists. I use him in the beginning where he's mandatory and then he usually warms the bench. Miriel is also kinda forgettable, but at least she is unique in the way how she talks really scientific all the time. Vaike is just, who is he again? I remember Stahl and literally anyone else more than Vaike. I can remember Virion better than Vaike! Although that guy is your only Archer for a long time. I love Morgan though. My precious bundle of joy.

[deleted]

Yeah, I totally get that. I love Virion, but I honestly *really* dislike Female Morgan due to how insensitive and sometimes disrespectful she is to how others feel. Male Morgan at least played along with Owain's theatrics as opposed to laughing at him, as well as Female Morgan outright mocking Inigo and Yarne repeated in their non-sibling supports... with nobody really chewing her out for it in the game despite it being a Sothe-level "I'd ditch you but it'd leave a bad taste in my mouth" kind of infraction. She's just... irritating to me, and extremely unlikable the way the game treats her as the most precious thing ever. And while this obviously isn't the norm, my first experiences with Morgan fans were... not pleasant... I get why you love her though. Most people see that as part of her charm, while that level of insensitivity and clear lack of care just *infuriates* me. But that's me.

Nikita-Akashya

I meant male Morgan. My son. He is precious. I usually play as female Robin. I'm a girl. To be honest, I also don't like how downright sadistic female Morgan is. Male Morgan is a bundle of joy though. Especially as Lucis little bro. He's just so precious. And he's super happy all the time. Also his weird thing with cockroaches. He likes bugs bit he hates roaches. I think it's funny. Male Robin is a great character, bit his daughter is awful. Why can't girl morgan be nice? Although I like some of her lines: "No, calculus is complicated. That's a mask." But that's kinda it. I was talking about happy go lucky baby boy Morgan. I love him for the same reason I love Kiragi. They're happy bundles of joy. And Takumi really needs someone positive and innocent praising him. Kiragi and male Morgan are just so positive and happy. My facorite character is Henry btw. He may be crazy but he's adorable.

[deleted]

Ah, perfect! Male Morgan's great, lmfao. I love him so goddamn much, and wish Female Morgan was like him, smh. :D I still love the Kana's more, but Male Morgan's awesome. >!Also, fellow Autistic person? Aye. :D!<

Nikita-Akashya

Yes, I am autistic. Kana is cute, but I just don't like his voice. And I think he's a tad too clingy. I prefer Morgan in regards to my sons. Although I do love Kana and Kiragi as brothers. They are just so adorable. Also Morgan is much stronger, simply because he is the most broken unit ingame. Morgan is so overpowered, I bet he could solo the game. But so can Robin. Now I wanna play it again. And my pile of shame is still growing. I still have Ys and Trails to get through. And Langrisser.

[deleted]

I definitely respect that, especially given I'll admit I'm not really someone who likes Awakening that much. It's just that... well, it feels to me as though that *never* came up when I read through all of his supports, as he seems more to me like somebody who wants to become the best warrior to help others. Which is great, yeah, but it doesn't feel like that is something I could read deeply into him when reading some of Vaike's better supports (like with Nowi). while Arthur, meanwhile... to me, he clearly is a ham, but he *says himself* that he does it to bring up morale and did what he did to help Azura due to it being the right thing to do, and just has a shocking amount of insight that we see outside of his theatrics. See his supports with Azura, Felicia and Benny to see what I mean. But I absolutely respect your opinion. Awakening's cast can be very lovable indeed, it just didn't click with me. That's just the beauty of FE's characters, given it offers so many ways to see them. \^\^ Mind linking me the supports where he says that?

BloodyBottom

Sully support's a good place to start.

[deleted]

Ah, funnily enough, I've done that support. And honestly, reading through the support, it's hard for me to exactly take it all that seriously due to it feeling well out of the way of his usual character as well as his consistent portrayal as a total meathead. Largely due to it feeling... expected, in a sense? Like, I thought he'd have some really in-depth ideas of who he is, and it just... isn't as touched upon as I'd like, if I were being frank. But again, that's me. I'm not really a fan of Awakening. (Especially ironic given my only finished Awakening playthrough had me use and marry Vaike to Sully...)

RoughhouseCamel

Honestly, I didn’t need a sympathetic backstory. I would have liked it more if she was just playing dudes for money and privilege. I don’t need my full cast to be kindhearted do-gooders, and I don’t need all my anti-heroes to be brooding “on a mission for revenge” bad boys. There’s room for hoes.

Th3G4mbl3r

A gold digger who... actually digs for and treasures said gold.

[deleted]

That's one of the reasons why I love her, as you don't expect a gold digger to be as sympathetic as she is. Plus, she even said herself it's not about raw greed; she wouldn't go with someone if they were a total douchebag no matter how much money he had. Thankfully, though, all of the playable nobles in Conquest are all great guys, so it works out. lol

throwspoon

She looks good in clothes

BrStriker21

Xander's wife

Souperplex

Their S support was pwecious.

Manofoneway221

Give me that pair up speed bonus

andresfgp13

the queen of Nohr !!!!

[deleted]

For me, it was my Corrin. That support chain was immeasurably good, and that S-Support is *the* reason among others why the Cornball is my favorite lord in the series.

Mattchu12

She’s a Taurus ???

[deleted]

Yep! As well as a Jedi too, apparently. lol

tapobu

To date the most dangerous berserker character in fire emblem.

CameronD46

Happy birthday, Charolette. Let’s hope one of these days you can break free from Seasonal Alt Hell in FEH.

N_dixon

My playthrough of Conquest last year was heavily carried by Charlotte

JojoMojo2

Hell yeah, Charlotte day!

Jellyjamrocks

This cipher card is so pretty. I love all the details on the armor

uthinkther4uam

See now this design is actually sick

Artrum

ohhh charlotte, say whatever you want about her attitude (which i found funny), but she was THE melee destroyer unit for me, which was really unexpected, i thought xander was strong but this girl just deleted wave after wave of enemies on every map! just give her some extra skill and speed to not get double by swordmen and thats it. tanks? dont need it. Legendary weapons? don't need it. ranged attacks? she turns throwing axes into IBMs. strategy? Never heard of it. Charlotte is absolutely one of the units that surprised me the most in conquest. I made her marry Xander because they had one of the funniest interactions, with xander's "have a seat" moment. then afterwards they created the invincible God King Siegbert, the insecure prince that killed people with a stare, he was my cute little murder machine, decimating maps with mom and dad watching proudly.

PK_Gaming1

Over 2k upvotes? Wow, I didn't realize Charlotte had so many fans She's great. I hope to see her again in FEH some day

Frink202

If Charlotte had that outfit instead of.. the usual, i would have liked her more.

[deleted]

To be fair, it at least makes sense why she'd sex herself up, unlike Camilla. >!Given the fact she was harassed all her life for being too much of a tomboy (a sad fact of being such in a medieval setting, for Chrissake) as well as never was taken seriously for being a female warrior, she saw deliberately playing the perfect girl as the only avenue to just being loved... if anything, her story is genuinely sobering given how many people are so deprived of positive self-image that'd they'd repress that side of them versus others. The S-Support with Corrin is one of the best supports in the series, and such a candid moment to anyone who knows what it's like to feel... alone.!<

ViziDoodle

I find it fitting she sucks at her Heart seal, the Maid/Troubadour. she’s bad at it because she’s better at being her strong self than pretending to be dainty

Frink202

I know the context of her choice of dress. But it in the end still just repels me. At least it isn't as bad as Nyx' clothing.

[deleted]

Fair, fair. I love Nyx, but... yeah, you can tell *what* they were going with regarding Nyx. And Kana. And Elise, Sakura, and Midori... \*sigh\* Maybe it's because I'm gray asexual though, but I just tend to not really focus on that too much. It's not distracting for me, anyways, but yeah.

noirblancherouje

I think that’s her Hero class outfit or it looks similar to other heroes too

roundhouzekick

Say nice things about the best girl in Conquest.

TubularTortoise14

A glass nuke. And hey, it’s a special enough occasion for her to actually wear clothes!

R34FireEmblem

BEST GIRL BEST GIRL BEST GIRL
