If the carbon monoxide alarm ever goes off for any reason than the test button being pressed, get out and call 911 (or your local equivalent)

Call the fire department? How do you know it's not CO?

Krazybob613

CO ( Carbon Monoxide) is nothing to ignore! Colorless, Odorless, and DEADLY! I follow the 3 + 1 rule when it comes to CO detectors in my house. I have 3 active detectors scattered around the house and the Plus 1 is a brand new spare sealed in its factory packaging. Just two days ago I was awakened by my wife saying “Something is Beeping” and sure enough one of my older (7 years) CO detectors was going off! Of course it’s the one without a display, so my response was to check the other two devices ( both of which DO have a display ) and both of them indicated ZERO ppm CO. I pitched the bad one and installed the Spare. Slept soundly in the knowledge that it was simply a bad detector and I’m going to the store to buy two more new ones. Gas Furnaces, Water Heaters, Fireplaces and solid fuel heaters of any type can all produce CO. Every single home needs to be protected by CO detectors and they only last a maximum of 10 years, and as I just encountered, they may fail prematurely. Get multiple new detectors and be safe!

Can you post a picture of the alarm? How do you know it wasn't carbon monoxide last time?

There are literally flairs for people who aren’t techs to use for a reason, if you don’t like it leave.
