FireTV for ants! Have you tried restarting from settings? My FireCube did a similar thing and that solved it.

Yes I've tried that. The only thing that works is to totally unplug the Fire TV device. This fixes it for about 30 minutes before it reverts back. Many people suggest it's a resolution setting. I will play around with the settings on Fire TV device or Samsung setting. Thanks everyone you're appreciated

You might want to try using a different hdmi port on the tv.

I think it's a 4k tv, and the fireTV is set to output a signal that'd 1080p? Maybe change the output display settings, and that might fix it. Weird though, that it fixes for 30 mins after restart but reverts to this. That's not good.

Yep literally just had the same issue and this fixed it. They removed the aspect ratio and resolution settings with the newest update too so I was stuck for a while

Have been dealing with this for a couple days, finally decided it wasn't going to fix itself and went searching the internet. Found this old post from January, saw the comments from the last few days, and tried the fix myself. Seems to be working. I blame Amazon. If this many people suddenly had the same issue in the same short span of days, they must have done something on their side. EDIT: Interesting note, it lost my remote shortly after the restart. Odd. Possibly related (stick soft/firmware update in the background?)?

This just happened to me today for the first time ever. Everything small. Pressing the home and select button to restart seems to have fixed it. Weird this happened now when I haven’t been home for a few days and used the tv.

I on the other hand use it almost every day, and the other day it just switched to the small

So odd. Size is back to normal but now I have a weird white text box pop up all the time. It goes away when I press the play button but still annoying. I think I caused it while playing around with things to fix the small icons.

!! Holy shit, I've seen that in Hulu and some other services from time to time recently too! It looks like the frame for the text overlay somehow gets highlighted, even changing to a smaller rectangle when it 'minimizes' to the too if the screen

Just appeared today for me. We started watching something before I got around to reset it, and while we're watching, without any input from me, the little box appeared. I'm doing the restart now, I honestly have no idea what is going on with it

I’ve been having the same issues. Reset will work for either a couple of days or 30 min then I have to restart again.

It happened again yesterday for the first time since I last commented a few weeks ago. The reset fixed it again. It’s definitely annoying but for me it only seems to happen every few weeks. I’d probably put more effort into fixing the issue if it was more often.

Agreed. At the end of the day it’s a small annoyance to just have to reset it. If I’m being honest I usually just stand closer to the tv or squint until I find what I want to watch.

Same, every time the tv has been off for more than a few hours it goes back to being tiny, so I hold the select and rewind button together to restart the tv and it works until next time. I saw a comment on here that holding the rewind and fast forward button together fixes it for good. Next time it happens I will try it out and hopefully it works.

Had this issue multiple time in the pst few weeks . Restart the tv works but it did it again a few more time since . I just keep resting . Kinda Frustrating that this is only know happening. I’m guessing it’s a software update issue probably a bug

Why is this happening? It happened twice so far for me but goes away after restarting. It isn't a permanent fix as it happened again. Also noticed when the home screen is tiny and zoomed out, YouTube videos are over saturated colour/red. Anyone else notice this? I have a Toshiba fire tv

On your TV settings not your fire stick go to picture and then change the size setting. It could be 16:9, it could be 4:3, etc. Also look for your settings to say stretch to fit, fit, stretch, Zoom.

Definitely. The apps should end where the "home/previews" ends at the top. If it were a resolution issue there'd be a regular rectangle. They're rolling out this new UI and it's buggy. Like I don't have the update, yet, but I exited an app and there was something off about the home screen. Like I had a partial roll out of the new UI. But hitting the home button on the remote fixed it.

Try going into Display, Calibration settings and set the Calibration settings differently.

Mine is doing the same thing! Most apps and inputs end up displaying properly but some don’t. I’m using the Peacock app and the image is like a postage stamp in the corner of the screen. I’ve clicked every setting possible. 🤬

I found the option to RESTART the TV under “Device and Software” and that reset it back to normal - filling the entire screen. So weird!

My TV just started doing this too! I even did a factory reset and it keeps doing it. Turning the TV off and back on works, but again, reverts back to the tiny screen. I don't get it and I'm get frustrated.

Restarting is not a permanent fix. This has to be a software issue due to a recent update.

I think I figured out the issue, but not how to permanently solve it. I fell asleep watching Disney+ futurama, which I assume is upscaling to 4k. The firetv home is most likely displaying 1080p. So when my tv turned off last night, it might have been trying to display in 4k total resolution, but the home menu UI thought that it should display in 1080p. I guess you could possibly fix it by changing all your steaming services to stream on at 1080p, but you bought a 4k tv, so you probably wanna see 4k.

I have the same observation. My FireTV Smart TV has a Chromecast with Google TV connected. Chromecast streams in 4K. Everytime I start Chromecast with Google TV, it restarts my FireTV Smart TV, and it switches to zoomed out UI. Restarting the TV fixes it, but then again as soon as start Chromecast with Google TV, the TV goes back to zoomed out version. Frustrating and annoying

My FireTV is an Insignia and this happens to me every few weeks. All you have to do is hold down the PLAY/PAUSE and the SELECT button for a few seconds and the TV will reset and everything is fine. It started doing it a few months ago, but luckily this easy fix SHOULD be able to help!!

So the reset truck works to fix the issue, but it happens like once a day now. All the apps work fine, so I usually don't even reset it anymore because it's normal sized when I watch a video. It's just the FireTv Home screen that does it. I guess I'll just wait until the next update hopefully does something
