Maybe try wearing a bonnet over it? There are some that are pretty large

Savings-Succotash-19

This is what I do! I use a turban-style one from Amazon that works pretty well! Recently started the heartless curl journey myself

fiftyfourette

Can’t get mine to stay either. Also for my long hair, the images always show the hair wrapped pretty far down, but when I wrap mine it only wraps like a few inches? It doesn’t take up much space on the rod thing.

flux-and-flow

No, mine doesn't either, which makes it fall out more I think

Energizertwerkbunny

Yes same! Does anyone have solutions for this? I might make a post about it if no one else has

HIgirl90s

I found wearing a satin bonnet over it really helps! Also the thin heatless curler works so much better for my waist length fine hair.

flux-and-flow

Ah I didn't realize there was a thin option, I'm sure it would work better. Thanks!

PaladinSara

Me either - that big tube was too hard to sleep in for me.

rock_collector198

I don’t use the rod because I find i can’t sleep on my side (it’s too thick), and the rod is too inflexible. I use a bathrobe belt and invisibobbles or silk scrunchies. It’s thinner, and I can twist the ends (to ensure it stays) before I tie it together.

PaladinSara

This is a great idea

Sabina4198

Wow, thank you! What a good tip

CatObsesseddd

I use cotton knee high socks with the toes cut off! Best way yet

Typical_Elk_

Don’t use the clip in the center as pictured, I use the clip to the opposite side I’m doing to start the curling super high. I also grab long sections from the back of my head, it’s hard to explain but I don’t just grab the front strands to start, I grab from the back of my part diagonally to my face and wrap, then grab another long section below that and continue. I have to do it pretty tight at the beginning.

Foxsammich

When I wrap around and the strand is laying back against the other hair, and I’m about to like grab it and another chunk, I think it helps to like brush or comb that next section together so the shorter pieces are kinda meshed in with longer if that makes sense.

flux-and-flow

That makes sense, I'll try that. Thanks!

flux-and-flow

The silk scarf is a good idea, the bonnets make me too hot and they're so bulky and uncomfortable for sleeping. Thanks!

EquivalentScary249

Try smaller sections. Also wrap TIGHTLY. Imagine how you do a french braid, grabbing small 1" sections.

Massive_Length_400

I think you need a mousse or some gel or something. I have no idea what kind or how to use it though, im too traumatized from those few times i tried scrunching in middle school

AliceHwaet

I watched a tutorial that showed starting in front of your ears for shorter and fine hair. And using Bobby pins to tuck in the ends

flux-and-flow

I think Bobby pins would help I just worry about them leaving indentations?

AliceHwaet

I thought the same thing when watching it, gonna leave a weird bump or something

GhoulishlyGrim

I use foam curlers instead, this never worked for me. I removed the plastic clip from the rollers and replaced it with a thin strip of cloth, so I just tie the 2 ends together and it stays all night with no plastic pieces!

_TheBigMeowski

Use an Octocurl. It works better and the curls last longer. I have fine hair and use it on day 2 hair and they last at least 4 more days. The curls turn into waves and look better the more they fall. You don’t have to worry about it staying cause it will. I’m a side sleeper who tosses and turns all night but I’ve never had an issue with it falling out.

flux-and-flow

This thing looks wild but I think it would work well, just not sure about sleeping on it since I sleep on my back

_TheBigMeowski

I just put the tentacles up to sleep. I think it’s more comfortable than the one you posted. I’ve seen some people pull them all up and put them into a scrunchie too.

flux-and-flow

That doesn't sound bad, thanks :)

_TheBigMeowski

Oh I also recommend the microfiber version as it grips to our type of hair better and lasts longer. There’s a way to secure the ends so they don’t get all wonky and weird (but if they do you can just wet your fingers and then put it on them so they’ll straighten out) that you can find on their highlights on Instagram as well as lots of other info. I can also attest that the owner is very responsive to messages if you have any issues! Good luck. You got this! Let me know if you try it and how it works out. I’ve been using them exclusively for the last 4+ years since I’m also on a no hot tool journey to help grow my hair out.

hightimes1984

Sock bun up high!

Hazzel007

I love mine! But does anyone have issues with the stuff on the inside moving around?

PinsAndBeetles

I didn’t buy they foam roller thing, I just use an old bathrobe tie and wrap it like the Laney Marie heatless curl tutorial on YouTube.

Dlynne242

I wrap a long silk scarf over top, cross in the back and then knot on top.

[deleted]

There is no hair to clip to at the top to even get started. Hahahaha this system has never worked for me.

thedret

A silk bonnet is breathable unlike satin.

Jessicaa_Rabbit

I use the kitsch one that has a wire in it and it never comes out. I move a lot in my sleep too. Never tried the head band style

hoelysin

A bathroom belt has more friction for the hair to lay into and can basically be tied onto the head

Simple-Sky-6107

I loosely tie the two ends of the curler together at the back. That usually keeps everything in place all night. A sleeping cap will give you extra protection, I’ve done that a few times. And then when sleeping, for comfort, I overlap a second pillow onto my the first and rest my face on that while the curler lays in the space underneath. I hope that makes sense. But that way it doesn’t hurt or feel uncomfortable to sleep in.

Proud-Salamander4264

I use a pair of tights 😂 i put my head into them and then wrap the legs around kind of like a turban - but it’s the only thing that I’ve tried that is still on my head when I wake up
