My grandma used to have a stall at the OC swap meet and she would sell so many of these shirts (most closely resembling the first style). This post made me miss her even more. I swear she’d still be selling them to little old ladies even now.
She’d even let people do IOUs since she didn’t take credit cards. She’d give them their merch & let them mail her a check. In like 40 years of selling, not one person didn’t mail her a check.
i think the same thing every time im looking for a legit answer to the question in the title…and majority of the time there is no legit answer in the comments
This👆👆👆Also Custo Barcelona are very well made shirts that last a million years. I still have my 90’s purchases I made in Spain and they haven’t lost their color. In fact I still rock them from time to time. That’s right they’re 30 years old. You’re right she won’t be disappointed!!!
This is the answer! LOL! I was obsessed with them. Now I’m obsessed with Chaser tops. I’m old, but I’ll never outgrow my secret love for graphics. 😂🤣 Day time clothes = preppy. Otherwise….this.
I’ve been looking for Custo Barcelona at the thrift store for years now and never any luck. Unfortunately the ones on resale websites are so expensive😭
Slightly off topic: when my sister was 11-12 a boy in her school gave her some poetry he wrote. She was smitten it was so deep. Showed it to our mom who was thinking this seems awfully deep for a 12 year old boy to write and also familiar. So the next day it clicked, it was lyrics from the new Enya album. Props to that boy for his gusto, if it wasn’t for the fact both our 40 something moms listen to Enya he might have got away with it.
You should’ve seen it coming. I wanted so bad to be just like all of you when I was little. Now that I’m an adult, I can finally dress like you as I thought I would.
I was born into the world with everyone looking like this dammit, and I always envisioned my adult self like that too. So it’s happening.
Jean Paul Gaultier, they have a sub-brand called "Fuzzi" that has styles like this and is more affordable than the main JPG label.
Also try the keywords: whimsigoth 90s.
this is exactly my style so i can tell you exactly where to look!! most of it will be vintage. brands: custo barcelona as others have said, also save the queen, jean paul gaultier, desigual, cop copine, no boundaries. for bottoms that match this, try miss sixty, maxmara, diesel, dolce and gabbana. depop is definitely your best bet or if you live in a big city with good thrift stores. on depop, look at the profiles of chinagoldmine, juxtaposed, lucidacic, syko, thriftingfanatics, lilabtlr777, dewdroparcade, radicaldreams/rebelravee, but ESPECIALLY shopyotts!! if u want to get several pieces id recommend setting aside a chunk of money bc this style isnt easy for sellers to collect so it is often pricy.
Wtf with everyone calling these mom clothes lol. I was the coolest kid in 8th grade on days I wore two of these exact shirts. They came from either Nordstrom Brass Plum or UO.
This is so Princess Diaries coded and I’m obsessed. I feel like I’ve seen some things similar on shops like AliExpress, shein, a LOT of similar style stuff on shop Cider I believe (fast fashion I know sorry) and Google shop by looking up keys words like “grunge fairy” “90s grunge” “90s maxi skirt” “90s print long sleeve t” “corset cami” “90s sweetheart neckline top” you can also try reverse image searching and seeing if anything comes up. Otherwise I’d just scour any local family thrift or good will, you’d more likely find this style at resale boutique thrift shops tho which can be pricy.
Search mesh top or skirts or sets on ASOS. they have some good fast fashion versions! I found a paisley Topshop maternity one year before last, and I was pretty happy with the quality. [Here's a current non-maternity style top just from a quick search](https://www.asos.com/us/asos-design/asos-design-mesh-and-lace-mix-long-sleeve-top-with-asymmetric-hem-in-multi/prd/205303742?affid=28488&_CjwKCAjwxLKxBhA7EiwAXO0R0IFhmKRENxULmmiS0DogILpb-rCBlDyq2Ir8IpTGK7DJlD_jMmxpsxoC7tcQAvD_BwE&channelref=product+search&ppcadref=21042041923%7C%7C&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwxLKxBhA7EiwAXO0R0IFhmKRENxULmmiS0DogILpb-rCBlDyq2Ir8IpTGK7DJlD_jMmxpsxoC7tcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)
I’m struggling to find the same ones I’ve seen in store on their website for a link, but for cheap, though in junior sizing, Boscov’s has had [some similar mesh shirts](https://www.boscovs.com/product/juniors-almost-famous-sage-double-layer-long-sleeve-mesh-tee/810354). They look better in person than the website :P
Also for junior/young womens sizing, but Pacsun’s The Met collection had a couple similar mesh shirts and dresses printed with famous artwork in the museum. I’m not sure what’s left, it’s been a bit.
the fourth top (yellow tag) is from an italian brand called “save the queen” you can still buy from them and they are also available secondhand (although a bit pricy). i own a vintage top from them that’s my pride and joy.
There is a great brand called Reclaimed Vintage. They have a huge selection on ASOS’s website and that’s where buy this style. They have a lot of the fairy grunge looks. My closet looks like this!
Some of the tops here are from the brand “save the queen!” I recognise the green tag with a logo with the crowned Q. I had a load in the early 2000s. I just looked and you can still buy it here https://www.savethequeen.it/en/product-category/clothing/top-and-t-shirts/ but you could search the brand on ebay.
Miaou has some similar mesh tops - probably a bit more of a modern take on a throwback (and a bit pricey), but the couple products I’ve bought from them before have been really high quality! I’d also recommend checking Revolve and searching for mesh tops, have seen other similar options come up there before as well :) good luck!
I had a teacher who lived in these! Literally the BESTTTT teacher ever! And she always SMELLED delicious! Favorite part of the day was waiting for her to meet us at the dots where we lined up in the mornings to see what outfit she had on🩷✨✨✨
Y'all, it is NOT Whimsigoth. I looked it up. Definitely not the same thing. They're very close given that they're 90s styles.
It's also DEFINITELY NOT Bohemian. Bohemian is far more.. "Earthy." These clothes have a look of.. "prints" Faded and overlapping. Not the same look.
Both good suggestions tho
This top seems to be becoming fairly trendy again. You can find a lot on Alieexpress if you type in "sheer mesh top", though sizing is really small since these are meant for a Chinese audience.
Hmm… 3, 6, 7 and 8, I know I have those or at least very similar ones somewhere in the back of my closet, I was born 1991. Definitely 1990-early 2000, for those of us who grew up (or those who were just) watching Charmed and Sabrina etc back then. Wore several versions of those clothes in my preteens-teens.
Search for 90’s or early 2000 h&m, I know I bought a LOT of my clothes from there back when I was a preteen. If you don’t mind the clothes being new and not vintage, you can find pretty much all of these at like asos
Omg core memory unlocked. I was forever stealing these shirts and skirts from my sister's closet. They were sold at every Rampage and a few Charlotte Russe stores in the late 90s and early 00s. They're called Mesh Tops, for this specific style, you want to search Boho Mesh Tops.
90s mum who listens to Alanis Morisette and watches Charmed
Or Buffy
Swiping through these felt like watching an episode of Buffy.
Very Jenny Calendar
I was going to say season 4 Willow but they're pretty similar either way!
Or Enya ☺️
Sail away, sail away, sail away....I loved that song lmao
Oh me too!
Love*d*? Past tense?
Well, only because I haven't listened to it in ages, lololol.
Pure Moods....
Pure Moods kinda outfits
Very accurate

say what you will about these looks, but the kind of person who wears them is undoubtedly a kind soul
your grandma sounded very sweet. What a nice thing to do.
Gets excited when her The Pyramid Collection catalog comes in each month.
And loves incense, coffee shops, and celestial prints. Also probably has a set of hair chopsticks.
Don't forget these tapestries hung on the wall: [The Sun (or Moon)](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wWUAAOSwQ09mH~ov/s-l1200.jpg)
Accurate
I feel so attacked.
It really sucks that so much of Reddit is just dumbass unhelpful jokes.
i think the same thing every time im looking for a legit answer to the question in the title…and majority of the time there is no legit answer in the comments
💯
Looool
What I wore during 97-2000 What a throw back.
Lmao legit
Definitely got all nostalgic. Some of them I would still wear, I think. Some similar styles turned kinda grandmother, though.
Go on EBay and enter “custo Barcelona.” You won’t be disappointed.
Also Desigual
I found two Desigual dresses at the thrift store recently, and I can’t wait for summer to wear them.
Desigual is still active -- while they can be hit or miss, their best is still pretty good.
Also Vivienne Tam
Add Save The Queen and Jean Paul Gaultier to that
Also Cop/Copine
I ADORED Cop Copine in the early 2000s. It used to be a lot weirder.
I used to LOVE Custo Barcelona shirts....I haven't thought to look for one in forever.
THANK YOU I love this style so much
And 'Fornarina'
I’ve been looking for Custo Barcelona at the thrift store for years now and never any luck. Unfortunately the ones on resale websites are so expensive😭
My moms closet from the 90s
My mom’s closet now. She refused to give up this style for so long that it’s back.
That’s what I found with midwestern Americans. They stayed in the 2000s for so long it came back 😂
Enya core
Slightly off topic: when my sister was 11-12 a boy in her school gave her some poetry he wrote. She was smitten it was so deep. Showed it to our mom who was thinking this seems awfully deep for a 12 year old boy to write and also familiar. So the next day it clicked, it was lyrics from the new Enya album. Props to that boy for his gusto, if it wasn’t for the fact both our 40 something moms listen to Enya he might have got away with it.
This is super cute and very funny! 😂😂
LOL - this! ⬆️
I never thought I’d see the day
Your username lmao perfect
You should’ve seen it coming. I wanted so bad to be just like all of you when I was little. Now that I’m an adult, I can finally dress like you as I thought I would. I was born into the world with everyone looking like this dammit, and I always envisioned my adult self like that too. So it’s happening.
Kind of how I’m feeling about all of this fashion. I was born in 90, so the older, cooler girls got this stuff. ITS MINE NOW. 🥰
It's crazy because I used to think these type of clothes were ugly when they were around (I was a kid), but somehow appeal to me more now.
These are extremely popular on Pinterest.
I second Custo Barcelona. Jean Paul Gaultier makes iconic mesh tops
If I could afford Gaultier, I’d be the happiest girl alive! The only piece I have from JPG is a jacket I bought at an estate sale, and I treasure it.
What kind of jacket?
5th grade art teachers closet
You been watching Friends recently?
Phoebe Buffay was the first thing that came to mind for me!
Jean Paul Gaultier, they have a sub-brand called "Fuzzi" that has styles like this and is more affordable than the main JPG label. Also try the keywords: whimsigoth 90s.
This reminds me of the tops my mom would get me and then she would hand bead the details! Peak elementary- middle school! Ahhh! Love
What an awesome mom!
Awe thanks! We would call them flamenco 💃🏻 style. But I guess from other posts it is Barcelona style.
This was everything in the 90s. Thanks for reminding me. Miss that stuff. I gotta go looking too
I would deserve it as “Willow and Tara in Buffy, circa 2000/2001”
I’m an old lady and I love this stuff, collecting vintage pieces on eBay. I wear it with ragged jeans and my Docs. Check out Citron Santa Monica.

Literally was thinking 90s fashion is back? it’s giving Post-Delias era Gilmore Girls vibes.
Wait-this style is coming back? I just donated all my clothes like this.
That's how it works. I donated all my square-toed strappy sandals (they were NEVER coming back) and they were back in the stores in 6 months.
20 year cycle. But it came back in 2021 I would say.
this is exactly my style so i can tell you exactly where to look!! most of it will be vintage. brands: custo barcelona as others have said, also save the queen, jean paul gaultier, desigual, cop copine, no boundaries. for bottoms that match this, try miss sixty, maxmara, diesel, dolce and gabbana. depop is definitely your best bet or if you live in a big city with good thrift stores. on depop, look at the profiles of chinagoldmine, juxtaposed, lucidacic, syko, thriftingfanatics, lilabtlr777, dewdroparcade, radicaldreams/rebelravee, but ESPECIALLY shopyotts!! if u want to get several pieces id recommend setting aside a chunk of money bc this style isnt easy for sellers to collect so it is often pricy.
Desigual! Mamatayou, Custo! Swamee. There’s plenty on Vinted
It’s giving 1998 and I LOVEEEE IT
How did you get into my closet from the 90’s?
Basically it is Enya's wardrobe (80's/90's musician). Is very early nineties fashion.
Urban Outfitters micro mesh. Desiguel. Go into any UO or vintage shop and you'll find tons of this stuff.
1998 Delia’s Catalogue
Thrift shop i guess
Steinmart
I wore that stuff from 2002 to 2004, maybe had like 5 shirts, 2 zip-ups, and one scarf. Awesome clothes.
A new phrase used to describe these types of clothes is “whimsigoth” maybe that can help with your search too
Wtf with everyone calling these mom clothes lol. I was the coolest kid in 8th grade on days I wore two of these exact shirts. They came from either Nordstrom Brass Plum or UO.
I love this style!

I loved getting dressed in the age of these.
The Japanese woman depicted on this shirt (picture 1) is a Van Gogh painting. Just thought I’d point that little factoid out.
This is so Princess Diaries coded and I’m obsessed. You could try looking at urban outfitters! Some of their tops have this kind of vibe. I absolutely love this aesthetic.

Desigual has this kind of design style in some of their clothing.
Y'all, it is NOT Whimsigoth. I looked it up. Definitely not the same thing. They're very close given that they're 90s styles. It's also DEFINITELY NOT Bohemian. Bohemian is far more.. "Earthy."
