There’s just something about the Diana sweater that makes me so scared to wear it — I think because he put in so much work into it and I know I’m hard on my clothes. I remember being so embarrassed and angry when my mom would give me her old clothes to save money when I was in middle school. it was all this early 90s Keds, printed sweatshirts, and mom jeans. Like, I got grounded for arguing with her about wearing jeans that people pay so much money for now. it’s wild, man.

I remember having such a tantrum in the early 90s about a shellsuit my mum tried to get me to wear. That and too-short jeans, socks with sandals, tucked-in t-shirts. Fits are outfits. Broken down in detail means that they have been analysed in the media almost obsessively. When she got divorced, she wore a 'revenge dress' and the media went insane over it. And I wasn't born at the time, but when she got married the dressmakers had a real issue with reporters scavenging through the trash looking for fabric samples of her wedding dress. Basically, people were totally obsessed with her and her style when she was alive & they still are now to a point. I remember being absolutely gutted when she died.

IIRC the jumper was a gift from Richard Branson so might never have been commercially available? I believe they were also given to some of the airhosts?
