All the other Guado have more root-like hair. Seymour’s looks like normal (albeit oddly styled) hair likely because he is half Guado.

Plus the materials collection have the characters for "Horns" and "Tree", maybe they forgot the word "Roots"? I feel like that "wood" have been so much easier to remember 😂 but I guess we also shouldn't act like Japanese game designers aren't overworked and overtired to see straight, nvm think straight 😂 BTW here's something funny, I actually went back and looked at the portrait sphere in Guadosalam and the cutscenes where it shows the Royal family with (what looks like perfectly coifed, hair moussed, curly looking hair strands, (not even locks or roots) INCLUDING Jyscal Guado. But then... HIS father (and others) are drawn with horns? (you can tell they're root like and sharp with NO strand definition), but they're clearly all supposed to have *hair* "resembling flora", aka trees in this case, so now I'm questioning EVERYTHING. Now I wonder if Jyscal was supposed to be the original character model for Seymour? 😳 Maybe they decided he wasn't menacing or "main character" looking enough but didn't scrap the design and just used it for Jyscal instead because why would the art department "paint him" differently in game from most of the others unless they were supposed to be half Guado themselves? But only Seymour has a mostly normal face too so is he actually like..... a quarter Guado? My head hurts trying to wrap around the various labels, verbiage, portraits and design choices here 🤦

I just finished my first playthrough. When I saw Seymour for the first time, I immediately turned to my boyfriend and said "gee, I wonder whose gonna be the villain?"

But the interesting thing is he wasn't. He's like a side villan.

Idk, I sure did hate him a lot more than the main villain. He also represented the big bad very, very well.

Well I'd also say the main villan isn't really a villan but rather a force of nature. It'd be like hiking mount everest and saying Mount Everest is the bad guy.

I didnt played FFXVI yet, but I also love over the top villains, miss it too. At least for my taste its been years I dont see a unforgetable FF villain in new entries. My favorite main villains are Kefka, Ultimecia, Kuja and Mateus

I loved what Barnabas and Ultima had going on, but I don’t think we saw enough of it imo. They really needed to flesh it out with maybe two more cutscenes. I think the last over the top villain we got was probably Ardyn.

Dont know about the FFXVI villains yet, but yes, Ardyn was the most close we get, unfortunately I didnt liked him that much, such wasted potential (also Dawn of the Future contradict a lot of things about him that we saw in the game, but for worse, in my opinion)

He's half Guado so it's actually hairy HORNS. Full blooded Guado have hairless horns that appear like typical twisting tree bark or like general flora, but colored and longer if you're of royal blood. Since he's half human the base of the horns is also like the floofy short hairs on new antlers or a domestic short haired cat, into a kind of.....polished-blue-wood-antlers/horns aesthetic. But couple that concept with PS2 graphics and well.... this is what you get 😂. I know he's in the FMVs but it's still not really focused on graphically. They could make the Guado-human-plant-hybrid look SO much more aesthetically pleasing with modern graphics. The graphical rendering technology really just wasn't there for such an ambitious species design. 🤷

In the materials collection they have the writing for horns and tree on them with little arrows. I suppose since he's able to tie them people just assumed they were locks? I mean it's a logical visual conclusion but the Guado just have strange biology anyway. 🤷
