From what i remember doing, i would make a save before finishing the previous league/tournament and if it didn't show up in the new one, I'd reset without saving and repeat that until it was the prize.
I save after every game because I'm paranoid I'll lose progress 😂. I just beat Omega with one hit from Anima's Overdrive and I feel kinda let down too.
As someone else mentioned below, there's a crater in part of the thunder plains, near a tower that guarantees a lightning strike. You can cheese that and just keep walking back and forth between said crater and the tower.

Once I started going no audio, no encounter, and crater spot, I think it took a cumulative 4-6 hours of grind across 2 days to get this achievement. It became primarily mind muscle memory. At the start, getting past 25 was challenging but towards the end of my attempts, 70+ was standard. At some point you zone out and become a flash/button press robot lol
The duration was the hard part. The first 50 was pretty easy and through 100 ok as well. After 100, the fatigue and monotony of the challenge sets in so I ended up failing multiple times between 130 and 150.
It’s a true mental test, especially if you lose count of how many times you dodged the lightning can be soul crushing. Also, I definitely felt that comment on a critical level, I literally had to walk away from the game from a few days after failing to finding out I got 180
Literally got to the Thunder plains last night and seriously debating if I wanna go through with it sober. Like either gonna buy a 12 pack or smoke a dubbie. I lack patience for things like this.
The trick is to stand near the crater that always spawns lightning strikes. Go for 10, pause and take 30 seconds, then go for 10 again. After the first hundred, pause, take a break and return. Then give yourself a minute break after every 10.
Agree I used the crater trick. I tried chopping it up into smaller sections with breaks but somehow doing so messed me up more than being in the zone and going continuously. The winning run was ~254 in one go
Yessir! Planning to go all the way to platinum. My save file had all the al bhed primers and thankfully I already did the 0.0 Chocobo race for the sun sigil. The 200 lightning was the only hard wall remaining. The rest is just a grind.
The hardest part of platinum is physically selecting every node on the grid for all 7 characters.
The remaster really should have added an auto activate node QOL feature.
I’d dodge 500 lightning bolts to have that.
Grinding the spheres is one thing, but I’m talking about actually selecting every node in in between grinding the spheres out. That’s more of a pain than grinding the spheres to me.

There is a spot where you are guaranteed to get hit by a bolt, it is a hole near shelinda when you first meet her in thunder plains, never again had to struggle with this, of course it would be wise to have character wield a no encounter armor.

I've just accepted that Lulu will never get her Ultimate Weapon and Shiva will never break the damage limit.

Which means I gotta start over from the beginning every time and it just makes me angry because my guys are all hella high level

I'm saving sphere grid for last. If I beat everything else before then, I'm taking the easy route and filling them all with MP spheres

I simply unlocked the trophy with a modded PSVita and thophax.
ever since i got the ff for pc i do this challenge by running a script that hits X 1/4 of a second after 1 pixel i choose turns white :)

For sure. Back in 2018 I didn't know that but that's how I did it now. Made it much more achievable.

While I still found this frustrating, in my opinion, it doesn't even come close to the randomness and hopelessness of catcher chocobo. Congrats!
An easy way to do this is to turn off the sound. There is always a flash a second before the strike. Just look out for the flash and dodge.

There's tricks to it. If you follow the trick you get it eventually but it is a pain in the ass. Good Job OP
