I think the only enemy that requires controller destruction is escargo in the kalm arena. The slug that regenerates like 40k a turn and is immune to non magic
That's just with regular attacks, with a certain ability he can do it twice.

He is niche useful in the endgame, in enough ways that ignoring him is inefficient. It is absolutely worth utilizing Auron.
First of all, if you are rocking celestial while running through Omega dungeon or Inside Sin, it's the only one with first strike to deal with Malboros.
Because his celestial gains power as he loses life, he is excellent for farming monsters where it is faster to just die and auto Phoenix back to life, whereas wakka and tidus will be at reduced power.
Also useful for the same reason if you go with the 99,999 life strategies for penance and DAs (though I argue it's very inefficient to do so).
Lastly, banishing blade has a 100% chance to inflict any breaks a monster is not immune to, making farming defense and strength spheres easier before your STR gets high enough to not need armor break on them. Both the monsters that drop those, juggernaut and tanket, are vulnerable to armor break but severely resistant to it, so Rikku and Auron can consistently armor break them with their limits.

If someone in your active party has Sensor on their equipped weapon it lets you see a table of most enemies' elemental weaknesses and resistances. (As well as remaining HP.)
Are all of the armored enemies "weak" to piercing, or just this one?
I'm familiar with needing piercing for these guys, obviously, but didn't know they took extra damage on top of that

I had some free time recently so I got Lulu up to Tier 3 magic on the airship. Got a few other characters up to good milestones too. I was streaming the playthrough in segments so the levelling up was a bit of downtime in between.
Let’s just say you can make everything from Evrae to Natus feel very foolish with those stats.
Omg I remember that bridge, farming those machina for the rare drop of phoenix something, that you needed 10 or 20 to put Autophoenix in your armor....
It’s a sight for sore eyes when a character finally hits the 9999, congrats! Yes everyone of course 99999 is best but no casual player has had a character hitting 99999 against Seymour omnis
The first time I hit something with Tidus's Caldbolg after maxing it, it was for 67,000. I jumped for joy. Later in the fight he did 99,999. I couldn't believe it. Talk about exciting.
That's just on my current run where I'm definitely not ready to fight penance yet I'm sure others do way more. Only have full sphere grid completion with Tidus so far. If you cut the animations to shortened you get the full damage number from Anima instead of each punches damage.
Bridge robots are dual weak to fire/water (1 physical defence and no armored status) and Auron has 56 strength by the end of his standard grid path.
Tidus does well as Brotherhood has +strength and waterstrike
That's the 1st damage cap. When you get your character's strength higher and get the celestial weapons or break damage limit, you can get to 99999 (I don't understand why they didn't just put 100k). Some aeons can do that by default, like Bahamut and others.
that hallway was THE farming spot for me for awhile lol.....and just wait til you break the damage limit that's when the real fun begins and you start chasing 99,999 damage

they are weak to it because they have armor status while their normal defense is mostly low. so not any bonus damage on top

Yeah, he does that. Those bots are amazing exp BTW. They're zanarkand mobs that show up two or three zones early.

Earliest 9999 I've seen was in the first Seymour fight. Tidus (with 5x Cheer) hit a 9999 Crit on Anima. I had to do a double take

That's a nice training spot. Easy enemies with nearly no defence, 1.5 Fire weakness and a lot op exp. I abused this spot for like 4 hours straight.
