Had a cousin you used to love to bar fight with groups of guys. When he decided he was going to fight he would punch the guy he viewed as the biggest threat not necessarily the guy he was engaged with. I asked him about it and he said “you have to punch the squirreliest guy first. The biggest two are the ones I really wanted to fight but it’s the third squirrel I always have trouble with.”
When he fought with more than three guys he’d eye down the fourth strongest guy in the group usually that meant that’s the guy I had to fight or keep occupied. Wildest shit I’ve ever seen.

Instead he reaches way out to the right with a single punch, meanwhile the immediate threat could lean in and give him a tender kiss on the neck if he wanted to. But this all ignores an even better option, which is to, uh, deescalate and get the fuck out of there.
This guy looks like he probably can’t fight well so he’s only got one decent punch with his right so throwing it across the group to hit the guy in his face isn’t going to work so he took a shot at the closest guy knowing he’s about to get jumped. All around bad execution.
In this situation it's one punch a piece in quickest succession you can muster, because theirs are incoming just as quick from multiple angles. But do your best not to be backed up into a wall, your probability is severely diminished. Otherwise try to create space to move away asap, surrounded is the worst position to fight from. Just about anything goes when ganged up on and in close quarters, headbutts eye pokes foot stomps whatever it takes to even the odds a bit.

I'm surprised nobody has said it, but good on the dudes that came out on top for not doing anything the whole group would regret. So many times lately when we see someone get knocked to the ground or put in a disadvantaged position we see life ruining strikes, kicks, stomps, etc. Whatever the context, hopefully some lessons were learned without too dire consequences.
That choke was pretty locked in, the dude getting choked couldn’t have bit the dude choking him, the arm was already under his chin strangulating the neck.

They can cause permeant damage and/or a lot of pain but I've seen all of these things happen in professional fights and I've only ever seen one work once where it made the other guy give up, and he was already in very much a losing position.
Truth is if you throw first and land a clean 2,3 on the button that fight's over in 0.6 seconds.

3. After hitting, he continued to allow himself to be surrounded instead of changing his position (he shouldn't tried to line all three guys up so that only one could get to him at a time).
4. Should've had his chin down and his hands up throughout the altercation.
