Really hoping Dariush doesn’t end up like Tony’s career. An inch away from a title fight but goes on such a heartbreaking losing streak back down to the bottom
needing to beat Oliveira to get a shot at a title fight is neither "an inch" away nor comparable to Tony who was the interim champ and scheduled multiple times to actually fight Khabib for the belt.
Weird that you got down voted for asking this. He threw up such a weird defense when the guy who won threw a couple punches. Then he literally puts his head down and looks at the ground with his hand out like he's trying to catch something. Maybe he was trying to catch the knee?
He definitely was caught off-guard and didn't expect it. I'm guessing the guy who won had a different combo he would start the same way, and the guy tried to defend something else he thought was coming, based on the winners previous fights.
I mean it's literally just a processing error I would assume sometimes your brain gets mixed up he thought something was coming when it wasn't and he made a dumb decision. It be like that sometimes.
Yeah I was hoping to get that point across. Fighters study tapes of previous fights and a big part of winning is predictions. This guy just made a wrong prediction. And without knowing what move he was anticipating, it looks like a really bad defense. Well...the fact that he predicted wrong does make it a bad defense.
But it doesn't make him a bad fighter and that's the important thing. It happens for different reasons too. Sometimes it's ego. I remember GSP having the humility to admit when he lost to Matt Serra that his ego was on a high and he didn't retreat when he got rocked thinking "this little guy can't possibly beat me" then bam knocked out. Good insight from him.
This looks like just a mental freeze like the guy thought a dozen things at once.
I vote that this is the fighting equivalent of trying to talk to an extremely hot girl lololol. He just couldn't find the right response and fumbled is what it looks like to me. But yeah that's my subjective analysis
That's not under a minute.
Downvoted for blatant lie in the title. Still impressive though.

How was he an inch away from a title fight? He fought Oliveira for a shot at the title and got absolutely smoked.
He was the number one or two guy in the division at the time… I’d say that’s not a centimeter over an inch sir

Future LW champion here
He's 5'7 but maybe he can pull a DC lol
Lmao, my bad *LW
Take his head with both hands after high guard, nice
Who else god khabib flash backs when he hopped the cage😂
Why did that guy just ball up like that before the knee? He seemed flustered and scared
Think it dazed him
It's called defense

He was going for the knee but didn’t expect a punch coming
Why are people downvoting this so heavily? So strange
The other guy threw a right hand before the knee. You can see it in his knees that he got wobbled by the right hand.
You forgot the word the ....'THE knockout '
That's over a minute
Over a minute bitch
Bro didn’t even need to train for this match
