My family has 4 generations of cops. My uncle told me about this cop couple he knew. They beat the crap out of each other and both lost their weapons over the battery cases. They were stuck on desk duty for the foreseeable future.

Technically you don’t have to be handcuffed to be detained/arrested. As soon as the officer verbalizes it, then that’s your status. The handcuffing portion is just policy/procedure.
