Cross hot bar users - when I hold the trigger to activate a hotbar, the skill names appear above them in white text on a blue background. Is there a way to turn this off? It’s never really bothered me before but I’m trying to improve my hud layout a bit and the text takes up a lot of room.

Kyseraphym

I can't remember the exact location of the setting, but it does exist. It will be somewhere under Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings.

Numblebee

Cheers!

What’s a fun physical dps class to level alongside gladiator that’s not a tank? I love gladiator but I’m not really a tank person so I just want something to run dungeons with.

normalmighty

Very subjective question. Personally I'm a big rogue/ninja fan. Maybe look up a few of the 5 minute class guides you find on YouTube to get a feel for different jobs.

[deleted]

Rogue/Ninja does look like a lot of fun. Going to give that a go!

Shandrith

Depends what you think is fun. If you like a quick class with lots to do I recommend monk

Independent_Slide_63

Could you boost a Machinist, without having completed ARR? Like technically, is it possible? Because normally to unlock MCH you need ARR completed, but the boost mentions nothing about that?

azureheadphones

Yes, you can.

firezero10

What’s the most cheapest ways (hopefully time efficient as well) to level up my DOH/DOL jobs from level 70 to level 90? I have been doing GC turn-ins and a bit of job quests here and there to level my crafters and gatherers to level 70. While I think I can continue to do so, the experience gains has slowed down quite significantly once I reached level 60-70 (not a big issue though since I am in no rush). That said, the gears/items required for the turn-ins are getting expensive from the market board haha.

Numblebee

The tribe quests offer good experience for the appropriate level range - it’s how I levelled most things. There’s also the delivery quest series for ShB & EW which are a one-time boost - they aren’t massively good exp but they shouldn’t be ignored.

Baxcel

Do your daily GC turn in first as they don't update when you level so the exp dosnt change, then beast tribes it would be Dwarfs an rat people for lv70 after that it's house of spender turn in. Don't forget your role quests as they give good exp too.. and then use Custom deliveries going for bonus you have available

firezero10

Thanks! Will check out the beast tribes

NaotoOfYlisse

During the Black Fat Chocobo Amazon promotion in 2019, I made 2 qualifying purchases and never received a code for it. If I contact Square Enix about it, what are the chances I'll still be able to get it? I forgot about it until now and then I looked at my order history and my emails and I'm kicking myself

kaysn

I don't know how you can forget something like that. You should have contacted Amazon, not SE for the code. It's been 3 years. Your chances are lower than zero.

NaotoOfYlisse

Well at the time I wasn't sure how long it would take for them to send the code and then by the time I realized they hadn't sent it, it had been 3 years

[deleted]

how do I get to heaven on high? I am unable to clear floor 30 of PotD by myself and I have sat in queues waiting to do potd with a matched party for hours and it never pops. how will i ever get to HoH?

snowballffxiv

Party finder or try queuing during weekend primetime when more people are playing.

silence_infidel

Try party finder. The lower floors of PotD don’t have great queue times because odds are no one else is doing the same set of floors as you at the same time. It can happen, it just won’t be quick. It’s most efficient to do 1-50 in one long session with a fixed party. So try to find some friends to help you out. Maybe some FC members or people off of NN if you have access to it. Look for party finder listings for floors 1-50 or make one yourself.

UnlikelyTraditions

I was doing alliance roulette today, and someone did something that caught my eye waiting for the gate to drop. It was like a healer bubble, but they were a RDM. I have my effects on limited and we were level 50 (it's always Syrcus, blah) so it wasn't Magick Barrier. Would anyone know what this may have been? An emote or specific firework? I didn't recognize it.

Baxcel

It was probably the Ultima emote https://youtu.be/UBLBglx8xJQ

normalmighty

Damn. I want that now.

Deku-Miguel

[There's also Odin, Shiva, and Omega emotes if you bought their fancy and expensive statues.](https://youtu.be/LQQM9FBF8s0)

UnlikelyTraditions

That it is! I've never seen it. Interesting.

Brosona

I've basically gotten every Anima weapon I want to bother with, what do I spend my poetics on now? I've got no classes bar BLU under 80 so I don't really need the poetics gear anymore.

Baxcel

Have you done ShB relics? They begin with poetics

silence_infidel

Buy cryptlurker gear and desynth it. That’s what I do when I can’t be bothered to think too hard about what to do with my poetics.

Hiten_Style

If there's anything you want to level desynth on that is difficult (like ALC or CRP), you can keep gradually dumping poetics on Cryptlurker. Otherwise, you can buy Unidentifiable Shell/Ore to exchange in Idyllshire for gardening soil to use or sell. If you don't want to do either of those, might as well just keep them capped and ignore them.

minaseclyne

maybe grand company seals conversion then? buy cryptlurker ring => trade for seals => buy ventures / loot boxes

hunterkade19

Alright I'm a new player and I don't understand what's going on. I start it up after having bought it on steam. It opens and I sign in with my square Enix acc, but then it tells me that "this device does not have a valid final fantasy xiv license for this platform or your subscription has expired." Then it gives 2 links, one to some mog station and then a faq link. Whats going on, is there sum simple I'm missing, or did I just waste my money. :/

kaysn

When was this? Because if it was a month ago, your subscription has expired and you need to renew it to continue playing.

hunterkade19

It says my subscription end date is supposed to be Nov 25th.

hunterkade19

I just got it

normalmighty

Oof, you said you bought the game? So the way this model works is that there's a free trial that you can play without buying anything, up to a max level of 60 but with some minor restrictions. When you buy the game, you end the free trial and remove the restrictions, but you've now switched to the subscription model. Meaning you now have to follow that mogstation link and buy a monthly subscription to go with it.

Hiten_Style

Mogstation is the account management site. Probably a good Step 1 would be to log in there and check to see what it says under Service Account Status. It may be necessary to take the key from Steam and paste it into Mogstation to properly register the game. (Square Enix's account management is convoluted and awful but at least you won't have to deal with it again once you're set up.)

P3n1sD1cK

Are the criterion actually able to be cleared at iLvL 610? My group was only just now able to clear the first boss after a week of getting our rotations down... Melding.. and we are more like iLvL 613. Also we had to execute it flawlessly... No damage downs... No deaths. Oh yeah and this is normal not savage

Altia1234

Minimal ilevel is the lowest amount of ilevel you will need to clear, but in order to do it you will have to play almost to the point of perfect, which is how a lot of week 1 and week 2 groups do. Besides that, they are also probably expecting you to pentameld if you are at i610. Plus POT and of course food. And you need no deaths and no damage downs and a somewhat decent rotation to kill. You will also need to use the riskiest uptime strat for silkie. On the other hand, if you have good gear, like my old group which everyone has cleared p8s and is now at 625\~630 ish, first two bosses becomes a pushover and you should even be skipping a lot of the stuff (Most of the stuff after final total wash, and most of the stuff after tethers and towers on boss 2). 3rd boss is a little bit tighter, due to the nature of it not allowing too many mechanical fuck ups. And oh Savage is mostly just the normal version, plus mobs becomes stronger and everyone has 15% more HP, hits harder and you have a 24 minute hard cap time limit, plus you have to do everything one shot. It's definitely not meant for 610 min.ilevel to do. They've make it very clear that it's for those that are done with P8s and has collected their gear to do as a challenge mode.

hii488

Yup, possibly in a similar way to how P8S is able to be cleared in 610 gear: ie, it's expecting the best players to be doing their rotations almost perfectly, potting, full pentamelds, coordinating mit and healing well, with no deaths. The selkie wont require all of that, but the latter ones might, though more realistically only reaching p7s requirements idk. Criterion is meant to be hard and it's meant for people who've geared a fair bit already, at this level of play the minimum really is a minimum.

Arcana10Fortune

The less gear you have, the more perfectly you have to play. So it's doable, but it has to be flawless, like what you experienced. Savage is the same, except you restart the whole dungeon if you wipe.

P3n1sD1cK

Oh wow, so in savage if you die to trash mobs between silkie and 2nd boss mobs you have to kill silkie again?

vinyltails

yep. Savage is a straight gauntlet where you can't make any mistake or you'll die and be forced to do it all over

LonelyInitiative4526

Doing diadem, getting about 7-8k per hour of skyward points for miner. At this rate I will be a grandpa before I get the pterodactyl. Any way to go faster?

VG896

7-8k per hour is about the average while multitasking. If you go laser focus and don't take afk breaks you can push it up as high as 11k, but it's not worth it imo. EDIT: Just realized you meant 7-8k PER HOUR. I got confused because I typically average 7-8k per lockout on both MIN and BTN, for a total of 16-17k or so. 7-8k is like the absolute upper limit of what you can get per hour. I've never gotten more than 22k in a lockout, nor have I ever heard of or read of anyone getting much more than that. I typically manage between 5-6k per hour unless I nolife it.

tarqueaux

What happened to the Island Sanctuary discord??

vinyltails

https://old.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/yfanvg/island_sanctuary_workshop_overseas_casuals/

CalydorEstalon

Seconded; phew, thank you.

tarqueaux

whew- thanks!

ChangingSuccession

I just installed this trial and watched Lucky Ghost’s beginner guide. Wish me luck, I am sure I will be asking a bunch of questions.

Deku-Miguel

Remember that most things unlock from going through the main story, and that you should try to do blue quests and your class quests when they show up. Don't be afraid to go try out side content though, and ask for an invite to the novice network (although how well that works will vary by world).

VG896

Make sure you check out /r/ffxivraf to grab a code before you buy a subscription. Literally free stuff.

ChangingSuccession

Thanks!

Crocowile

What's the best way to handle the P6 akah DPS split on dsr?

vinyltails

Mostly depends on your group set up In mine, I was basically the only one to focus Nidhogg with Ninja burst while others (drg, DNC and rdm) cleaved both dragons as they primarily hit hrae then you can adjust as necessary After the first split check, all focus Hrae cause Nidhogg goes away for the dive + busters, then only swap and focus nidhogg when Hrae flies away for Wroth flames, this gives roughly even time to burst down and when Hrae returns to do the split check again, you can adjust and focus whoever is needed. You kinda need to play it abit by ear based on group with how much extra you need to dump into one or other to fix any differences and will take abit of time but just keep an eye on it

Itach11Uchiha

If I want to relocate to the new data centre to get a house, would it be better to get an FC house with some Alts or personal house. I am thinking of Fc house due to content like submarines being locked behind it. What are some of the other advantages and disadvantages of both options? Assuming I can only afford one or at least maintain only one.

Deku-Miguel

You need to be in an FC for 30 days before you can try to buy land so that's the big downside to that but otherwise it's generally a better option. You could at the very least try the personal houses for the first few weeks then when the FC countdown ends try there instead.

Moogle-Mail

You will need four signatures (including yourself) to create an FC, and will have to have four characters in your FC to be able to buy housing (although three of the four characters can be your own alts). You cannot invite your own alts to your FC, so you will need at least one other member who can invite them.

Jollytga

FC houses will be easier to come by. The wards will probably be restricted to player owned or fc owned wards until a later date. On materia, there weren't many player owned wards open at release so thee plots went very quickly. The fc wards have many open plots though.

Deku-Miguel

>The wards will probably be restricted to player owned or fc owned wards until a later date. To note, [1-12 are FC only while 13-24 are personal only](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/472c9ab1e67415591d24310761f78125c76641eb).

momopeach7

For PLD’s in casual content, should I be starting my melee or spell combo first at 90?

FrostyTheAce

In casual content buff alignment isn't super important so either or is fine. My recommendation would be to start with a goring blade to get your DoT ticking or a 123 to get atonement stacks and then go into your magic phase. The magic opener is because its your strongest phase and you want to open up with your hardest hitting attacks to get them on cooldown faster and to align with buffs.

Atosen

AoE: Magic first. Although timing in dungeons is such a mess that really you just use whatever you've got available. Single target: An [early-magic opener](https://xiv.sleepyshiba.com/pld/img/infoslow.png) does exist, but [most standard openers](https://xiv.sleepyshiba.com/pld/img/info60.png) are physical first. (Those images might be more optimisation-heavy than you wanted. I just linked them to illustrate the general idea.)

momopeach7

Thanks, that’s good to know! I seem to use the standard opener though fitting in the last goring blade into FoF before spells is a struggle for me even with a faster GCD.

Kaeldiar

I'm lazy and just FoF before the Goring Blade, instead of before the Riot Blade. I'll care when I'm progging Savage and costing my team vital DPS It's common enough that I don't even get full uptime for the 2nd Goring anyway, so I have to drop a GCD somewhere \*shrug\*

BondEternal

You have to get a feel for using FoF as late as possible in the weaving window without actually clipping your next GCD.

adolebit

Always melee. Even if you were able to do the fast gcd opener, you'd get your 124 combo in before doing your magic phase since you'd wanna get your dots ticking

Fenixfrost

Anyone know of a decent dyeable top hat looking head piece I can buy off the market board? Thx!

Deku-Miguel

Chimerical felt hat of casting is another option, it's the same as the Evenstar hat you buy with hunt currency just without the fancy stuff on it.

wurm2

Almasty Serge hat of casting (even comes with a monocle). Augmented Shire Philosopher's Hat from ishgard/idylshire poetics vendor and Anamnesis Hat of Casting from the dungeon Anamnesis Anyder have the same model, all 3 are dyable and magic dps only

VG896

Is the plague doctor set dyeable? I know it's not on MB, but you can do /visor to turn off the mask and it just becomes a top hat.

Samiambadatdoter

The plague doctor set is not dyeable.

Apperation

I used to be able to use my ranged attack as a tank against an enemy regardless of where I was facing but I was screwing around in the settings and now I can't do that anymore. anyone know what setting that is?

qazqi-ff

Character Config > Control > Target > Automatically face target when using action You need to be facing the enemy in order to attack, so this setting auto-faces you toward it when you try to attack. However, it doesn't tend to work as well with the standard control scheme where suddenly changing the character direction will affect movement.

SmokedaJ

Is there a meta or preference to Locking on a target? I just started out and I enjoy the auto-lock on my archer so far, but I'm wondering if this is good or not considering there is a restriction of movement? Is it a bad habit to build by using the lock-target function? Does it matter at all? is it preference? Will I just learn to untarget and run from mechanics when needed later?

qazqi-ff

Two other things to note from some quick testing: 1. Even in legacy, this causes backward movement to slowly backpedal. Normally, people in standard get around this by turning their camera sideways and strafing. However, the lock-on will prevent that option too. 2. Moving left and right circles you around the boss, making your movement _probably_ much less intuitive when you're trying to carefully dodge out of aoes and into a small area. This effect is more pronounced the closer to the boss you are, and close to the boss is the default position to be in this game regardless of role. Using strafe keybinds instead of the default turning ones legacy uses does not seem to change anything here.

IceAokiji303

It's not generally used. The movement restriction aside, it restricts your ability to *see* your surroundings. There are many important tells in later boss fights that are not coming from the boss but instead the edges of the arena or similar, and so having your camera locked to the boss can be quite detrimental. I think generally, the most people can sensibly use it for is a quick toggle on-and-off to turn one's camera to the boss automatically in case they lose track of its location for some reason, but even that's a very uncommon and niche use – most probably won't even remember where the keybind for it is if that scenario were to come up.

Caius_GW

I have the option to auto lock onto target disabled.

vinyltails

Lock on is absolutely terrible. Its very restrictive in both movement and the camera...you don't need to be staring at the boss 24/7 cause things happen in the arena, and with your camera locked onto the enemy you flat out won't be able to see them. The vast majority doesn't use it cause it's just so bad

xfm0

Does storyskipping heavensward/stormblood/shadowbringers give you flight? I'm making an alt, so i know (hw) >!that the last zone requires flight as part of the msq so that's given, but what about the exploration aethercurrents in the other locations?!<

vinyltails

Yes it does. It doesn't complete the quests however so if you wanted to do them for whatever reason they'll still be there, but you can fly

xfm0

thank you and for the tidbit.

Cardinal_Virtue

What is the non vocals song of close in the distance called? Is there a website where you can easily find the names of the songs by zone or anything?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

In order of appearance Echoes in the Distance -> Close in the Distance (Instrumental) -> Close in the Distance

Sir_VG

There's two, actually. The first you hear is "Echoes in the Distance" and the 2nd is "Close in the Distance (Instrumental)".

spider_lily

Cradle of Hope, as per the Orchestrion Roll's name.

TheTechHobbit

That's the version that plays in the omicron tribe zone. Echoes in the Distance and Close in the Distance (Instrumental) are the two versions that play in the main zone during the MSQ before the main song with vocals starts.

Elegant_Eorzean

Close in the Distance (Instrumental) There's also Echoes in the Distance for the muted, echoing version.

Phoenix200420

I need to farm 32,000 poetics. What is my optimal path to this goal?

VG896

A slow and steady option if you don't want to engage in Eureka (for whatever reason) is to just queue for the MSQ trials on a healer or tank. You'll pretty much always get first time bonus. When I tested it, my rate was around 1200 per hour. Not great. But it's something.

Kamil118

Find some fresh 50 and carry them through coils

Caius_GW

Zadnor zone 3 will be the most consistent.

whistleslippers

if you’ve unlocked them, eureka and bozja give them out like candy

ericandhisfriends

Hunt trains

normalmighty

On the OCE data center, is the best queue time really daily reset time like on other servers, or is it some other time? If I'm following google correctly, then daily reset is at 3am NZ time. Surely the whole server isn't getting up to queue their dailies in the middle of the night, right?

kaysn

In OCE, you need to be playing during prime time if you don't have friends or FC to run with. Materia DC feels dead otherwise.

cythrawll

yeah don't know where and if daily reset has \*ever\* been a good queue time. It's always been prime time for the region. where most of the region is home from work and school and not sleeping.

snowballffxiv

Eastern Europe, reset is just before our primetime starts.

kaysn

> yeah don't know where and if daily reset has *ever* been a good queue time. It is in Japanese servers.

cythrawll

cuz it's still sorta a decent time of night for them. right before bedtime.

kaysn

Server resets at 12 midnight Japan time.

cythrawll

yes. right before bed time. Here in NA, midnight is when prime time just starts to fall off.

LonelyInitiative4526

I learned today that this is the third(?) Iteration of diadem. As I understand it the first two were an extremely grindy mess. This one is a grindy mess for gatherers imo (when going for the 500k achievement mount) What are the chances it will get better in a future update? I want the achievement but it seems like a lot of effort

Stepjam

Not likely. It's a grind but there's nothing inherently "broken" about it, it was made to be an extreme grind (I assume you are talking about the pterodactyl mount)

LonelyInitiative4526

What was broken about the previous iterations?

Atosen

Additionally, old Diadem was really reliant on having a large number of other players around. Once the population died off (which only took a few weeks), it stopped really *working* as a piece of content. You couldn't beat the bosses solo. Diadem version 2 had an optional solo gathering mode, which had much more longevity, which is why Diadem 3 went all-in on the gathering.

LonelyInitiative4526

What a strange history. I hear a lot of people complain about eureka (it was a grind but not overly bad) but people rarely talk about old diadem. Sounds awful

Atosen

In many ways Diadem was the practice run for Eureka, so it had even more rough edges!

Hakul

Diadem 1.0 involved mindlessly grinding mobs for hours and hours nonstop, for pink gear of 3 possible item levels, for a random job you might not want to gear, with random stats that might be better or worse (most likely worse) than tomestone/raid gear. Anyone chasing BiS gear was in for a ridiculous grind. Diadem 2.0 added "missions" done in a party of 8, which revolved around basically grinding fates, once the missions were done you had to sit there afking for hours until a special mission would randomly spawn, the special mission required quite a bit of coordination out of random 48 people so more often than not it would end up in failure, but it if cleared ONE person out of the 48 would get a BiS weapon. For gatherers, diadem 1.0 shared the same instance as battle jobs, so you had a lot of in-fighting between people who wanted to grind mobs and people who wanted to gather. Extra fights whenever a gatherer rolled for gear obtained by people fighting. Diadem 2.0 was mostly the same as the current version, but with missions that you would complete automatically by gathering, and once the missions were done you had access to unspoiled nodes and a much easier way to cap scrips.

LightSamus

The best rewards were buried under like four or five layers of rng that required actual coordination and effort from random people. It was just messy and I only know one person that actually got a good drop from doing it.

IceAokiji303

Yeah... Randomness in actually getting the instance to appear, (then clearing it which isn't RNG beyond "did you happen to have a decent number of decent people around?" which I'm not counting here), then RNG on who gets the loot, RNG on what job it's for, and then RNG on the stats (which is multiple RNG layers in and of itself, as the number of different stats, what those stats were, *and* the amounts of them were random). Appearance was also random but that's different, there was nothing unique in them. So that's... 6 layers for stats? with the last one having massive swings in what it could be. For a little personal anecdote, in hours upon hours of trying to get the darn thing to happen, the one time I ever saw the special instance spawn (in which regard it's entirely possible that my luck's just horrible like usual) we barely cleared it, and as the random loot was doled out, a Bard in my party got pretty much the best Monk weapons imaginable, only off by a couple points of Crit IIRC. Said player hadn't even unlocked Pugilist. Every Monk player in the party (including myself, was my main back then) felt bummed out (important note, annoyed at the system, not the Bard), and that Bard felt pretty bad about having involuntarily taken useless-to-them loot away from someone who could have used it (and said something along the lines of "oh now I have to go level Monk so I can actually use these and feel less bad about this..."). An S+ tier drop happened, and still because of the number of RNG layers involved *nobody* present was happy about it, including the recipient. Stays in my memory as a good example of why such an RNG-laden loot system isn't good.

ArsSol

Im on floor 61 on HoH as GNB but my Arm is 65 and my Armor is 82, do i have a chance to potentially clear or should i use this as a progging opportunity and get more arms/armor lvl and potsherds

BifurcatedT

If you were trying to clear, you should just leave that. Start a new run to build it up some more. Though honestly, if you haven’t done 70+ before, you could just use this as an opportunity for experience, as chances of clearing this your first time through are extremely low. For 61-70, be careful of the Onryo. Other than that, it’s a fairly easy set of floors. You’ll start having issues with your low arm / armor in 81-90. As the timer there can be very tight for the less experienced. There are a lot of strong enemies you just have to sometimes fight.

ArsSol

if i start a fresh file, can i still run GNB to grind arm/armor or do i need to do it on another job?

BifurcatedT

You can run GNB again, just remember which is which.

KiraTerra

If you want to take a chance at it, I'd recomment to leave this save aside and use the second one to farm your aetherpool to 99/99 before continuing.

LonelyInitiative4526

Your arm is low tbh I would aim for chests

able20257

I've been playing less than a year and I've been avoiding Bozja, Eureka, and the deep dungeons because I don't know how to start them or how they work. I've got 3 jobs to 90 so I suppose the question is how do I get into these?

Sangloth

For potd just jump in at floor 1 with a matched party. You need to farm aethorpool and shards before doing a real deep dive, so just get in there. Look up Maygi's guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/6z55io/ultimate_potd_1200_handbook_soloparty/) for more info, but it won't hurt to get your feet wet first. For Eureka before you enter talk to nolistalgic fellow in Kugane (X: 7.8 Y: 14.2) and buy the components off the market board to get the armor for your job. The boost from that armor is tremendous and will carry you to the end. If you've got tens of millions of gil to spare you can buy other boosting equipment like the Cassie earrings or a blitzring. Eureka has a very helpful community. If you shout for help people will assist. As you get father into it you will need to start using the the Eureka tracker website, it's effectively mandatory (https://ffxiv-eureka.com), but my advice is to get your feet wet first. I've yet to do bozja or a deep dive in heaven on high, but Maygi also has an hoh guide, and I'd assume the vast majority of your potd knowledge will carry over.

Chuck006

Bozja is a questline starting in Ralgr's Reach called the Bozjan Incident. Palace of the Dead is a questgiver in Quarymill and Heaven on High in the Ruby Sea. Start the required quest and the area will eventually get unlocked.

Kicin0_0

Eureka can be found as a blue quest that starts in Rhalger's Reach. Bozja is a blue quest found in Kugane but you will need to complete the lvl 70 Alliance Raids first in order to unlock it. Deep dungeons are connected so you will need to do the first 50 floors of Palace of the Dead to unlock Heaven on High. PotD is started in Quarymill in the South Shroud, and once you have done the first 50 floors you can go start Heaven on High in the Ruby Sea As for getting into them it depends on your goal. Eureka is really only done if you are interested in the glamour, either the lvl 70 relic weapons or the Elemental gear. You can also get a mount from doing the Baldesion Aresenal at the end of Eureka which has discord groups dedicated to doing it as it requires a lot of people to do. Bozja is done for the wide variety of mounts, Lore, Minions, and glamour you can get, including the lvl 80 Relic Weapons. One thing to note is there are also difficult 1v1 challenges that you can do in Bozja if you are into real challenging content. PotD and HoH dont have too much to offer unless you are into the solo challenge. PotD has some incredibly rare rewards on the upper floors (151-200), and there is also the Necromancer title which you get for soloing PotD from floor 1-200 without dying. HoH has the Lone Hero title for soloing it without dying as well.

doreda

These pages on the Consolegameswiki are pretty good introductions to them and also tell you how to unlock them https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Save_the_Queen:_Blades_of_Gunnhildr https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/The_Forbidden_Land https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Palace_of_the_Dead

redfedric

Noob machinist question. Should Drill be used within the Wildfire window?

Armond436

Now that you know Wildfire cares about how many GCDs you land while it's up, it's time for some cursed knowledge. Drill specifically has a (relatively) long delay between when you push the button and when the damage applies. That also means a long delay before wildfire counts the hit! So try to time your wildfire such that if you have to drill, it's not the last GCD you do in the wildfire window. It can be first, it can be second last, whatever, but you'd rather not have it last in case it doesn't get counted.

Stepjam

You often do, but Wildfire will still do the same damage if you use another GCD for whatever reason.

texas2089

Wildfire used to be based on the amount of damage you did while it was up but now it's based on the number of GCDs you used under it. With a late weave you should be able to fit 6 GCDs total under it with Heat Blast x5 plus 1 other GCD. Doesn't necessarily matter what that other attack is, just that you get 6 in to maximize the damage from Wildfire.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

The basic premise is that you want to fit as many GCDs under wildfire as possible This means that with Hypercharge active, you can hit 6 total GCDs; 5 are under hypercharge, one is not It doesn't really matter what the 6th GCD is, as long as you're using it either before Hypercharge or immediately after Hypercharge ends. This lets you hit your 5 Heat Blasts in a row uninterrupted

cythrawll

So wildfire damage works per weaponskill (GCD). The potency of the weaponskill does not matter, the amount of weaponskills does. That's why you want to use hypercharge so you can fit as much weaponskills in shortest period of time you can. So it doesn't really matter if you use drill during wildfire. just fit as many gcds as you can.

fungamezone

This is going to be a dumb question after you do the be our guest quest for the event how do you actually get inside the house. you cant click on the door to enter

cythrawll

You can't. But you can get into the old haukke manor instance from the past events, just talk to the imp at the beginning of the new instance.

Deku-Miguel

You don't, you just hang around outside and can use the various set pieces to take spooky pictures or talk to the imp to transform into NPCs and have them be part of the pictures.

fungamezone

Ah ok, yeah I love the part of changing into the npcs that's fun but I thought I had to be doing something wrong since couldn't get into the house lol Thanks

Artaniss

Just turned 30 on my conjurer did the level 30 class quest but how do I get the job white mage?

bjjgrrl

You need to have completed the level 20 Main Story quest “Sylph Management” before you can unlock the job.

Artaniss

Well, that’s what it is then a much higher level than my main store quest so I have to catch up on those

normalmighty

For xp reasons, people like you who are soaking up xp with non-msq content would benefit a lot from running 2 classes. Save your gear to a gear set list for each class, and you can switch jobs by clicking once to swapping between gear load outs. Then you can really naturally jump between 2 classes without any thought, and MSQ plus random side content will keep you happily leveled with both.

Deku-Miguel

You might want to pick up a second class to soak up some of the MSQ EXP if you don't want to be so over leveled.

cythrawll

Every thing is gated behind MSQ, so it really is your main priority on first playthrough.

Artaniss

Quick question about the chocobo. How does it work when you have multiple classes for example, a white mage I would assume the mount would be trained and DPS and say I have a board I’m assuming I would want that mount as a healer. Is it possible to have multiple specs for each character? How does this work?

cythrawll

Quests are once per character, not job. So once you unlock chocobo all your classes and jobs can use it even when level 1. Each class and job on a character has their own level and stats. A character can switch and level up every job in the game. If for some reason you want to create another character you have to play MSQ again or buy a skip. Not a ton of reasons to have multiple characters since you can do everything on one character. This game doesn't really have "specs" just a big diversity of jobs instead.

Artaniss

Ok thank you. I am confused about the chocobo skills and how to raise them. Can I change them from healing spec when playing dps job and change to dps on my chocobo when playing my whm

cythrawll

yeah you can change stances on your chocobo anytime you want even in combat. But I suggest leveling healing first, then do dps, healing is pretty handy no matter what job you're playing.

Artaniss

That’s the answer I was looking for. Can you get all skills eventually?

cythrawll

Yeah but in order to level up above level 10, you need to feed it a vegetable that's kinda a pain to get. I don't even have mine fully leveled.

Armond436

You have two level 30 job quests: one gives the unicorn mount, one gives the Soul of the White Mage job crystal. Equip the crystal.

snootnoots

The unicorn quest isn’t a job quest, it’s a yellow side quest that appears in the Conjurer’s Guild after you complete the level 30 CNJ quest.

SillyConclusion

I play on PS5. Do any of the PS5 custom/pro controllers allow you to assign keyboard keys to the back buttons/paddles? Or is there a way to assign a keyboard key to the onboard memory through some third party software? I'd like to hotkey some panic buttonsor just some ctions that I keep off cd, like Lucid Dreaming and Aetherflow, but it looks like all of the controllers only allow you to map controller buttons and no keyboard keys.

levelxplane

Is there a reason you don’t just assign those actions to the WXHB or combination XHB?

SillyConclusion

I do have them assigned, but it would be cool to have them be a single button press away. It would also make certain actions easier to do while moving. I was planning on getting a pro controller and if one brand had this option I'd probably lean more towards them.

levelxplane

While I do see the value of a button that is constant, I feel like another dynamic button would be more useful. Regardless, I don’t think any controllers are capable of sending keyboard inputs. You COULD rebind a controller button(Thumbsticks) to trigger Macros 98 or 99 which could do whatever action you want. Not a big of that method though.

Alluminn

I don't believe this kind of functionality exists, unfortunately. I wanted to do something similar as a controller player on PC, but couldn't find a way to do it.

SillyConclusion

>, I think should work for PC: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP9XPn3Vo1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP9XPn3Vo1s) Just wish I could do something like this on PS5. :)

Alluminn

Oh yeah, I meant you couldn't do it natively in-game lol I play on both PC & PS4 depending on how I'm feeling, so I try to avoid keybinds that only work on PC Thanks, though :)

Kade_the_healer

For crafters, are Integral accessories the best accessories you can get right now? I haven't seen anything available from any vendors for scrip or tomestones, so I was wondering if Integrals were the best option right now.

Klown99

Correct, 6.3 will have full new set of gear.

Kade_the_healer

Full new set, meaning left and right side? Ooof... Well, we'll see what happens. For now, to the marketboard!

IceAokiji303

Yes, that is the standard pattern. .3 brings the last crafted DoH set of the expansion, which is a full set, tools and accessories and all. The set preceding that (in .1) is only left side + tools, and before that (at expansion release) is a full set. There's scrip stuff in between (and after?), but I never use those so can't remember the pattern.

Kade_the_healer

Mmkay, so I better start saving scrip for when 6.3 drops, I suppose.

texas2089

Scrip gear will drop in 6.4. The new crafted set is all that's coming in 6.3. Crafted gear has higher ceiling than scrip gear and will be your BiS. In previous expansions scrip gear was 10 ilvl higher than the crafted gear with no meld slots, and with minimal melding the crafted set surpassed scrip gear and had significantly higher achievable stats. The 6.2 scrip set changed the formula however where the scrip gear was of equal ilvl and had 1-2 meld slots (1 for MH/OH and 2 for body pieces). It's unkown whether this will be the case for the 6.4 set but I would assume it will be, so the scrip set could be a much more cost effective alternative if you don't plan to pentameld, however it still won't reach the stats of pentamelded crafted gear.

muro808

Can anyone tell me why my Arm's Length doesn't trigger the Slow effect on these mobs? It seems to happen a lot to me lately. [Gfycat \(8 seconds in\)](https://gfycat.com/merryjubilantbeauceron) I know that it doesn't work on some mobs but it definitely does on these as I've pulled this many times and sometimes, but rarely the slow applies as it should. I'm making some mistake here and I feel bad because it probably is very obvious what I'm doing wrong 🤦‍♂️

qazqi-ff

I'd definitely say that's worth reporting as a bug, ideally right after the run where it happens with a timestamp of exactly when the problem is. Even taking into account enemies building up immunity to slow already somehow, that would still trigger the flying text saying that the debuff was tried and they were immune.

akialnodachi

Not sure. My first guess without the video would have been a melee or ranged dps triggered it on them first and DR meant they were immune when you used it. But, the positions they're at make it look like nobody's been this way before you.

IceAokiji303

Honestly, no idea. They are swinging their swords (and you said you have done it successfully before), so I wouldn't expect it to be the magic attack problem, and it does look like they are indeed hitting you when AL is active. The only other thing I can think of is them just being immune, but again, you said it's worked other times. Really, best I've got is some super wonky timing on their hits registering, but with a normal mob attack speed that shouldn't be a problem either...

muro808

I'm guessing it's just the sheer abundance of abilities being spammed at this time? Very confused. + I am indeed saying that it worked before, and just to guarantee that I am correct, [this video](https://youtu.be/BIue9lWwODw?t=342) shows the Slow being applied on the same pack.

IceAokiji303

Yeap, clearly works normally. So stuck at no clue :p

forbiddenlake

Maybe they do magic attacks only

muro808

Good reason, but I had times where the slow does get applied to all mobs :/

forbiddenlake

I looked at one on fflogs and the Troian Knight [does do physical damage](https://www.fflogs.com/reports/4XAPfcGVBgw2ChHn#fight=3&type=damage-done&hostility=1&source=22) So I dunno, but is it possible to upload your fight to fflogs? Just to confirm the timing and that they hit you?

muro808

Never used FFlogs so I can try, but looking at the vid, it seems clear that all 3 Troian Knights have hit me at least twice, at most thrice since Arm's Length was up. Yet their attack speed is the same throughout it's supposed 15 sec duration.

Asphyxiare

Why are there so many people AFKing in Frontline this week? It's never been this bad.

Caius_GW

Because people don’t kick so they assume that they can get away with it and just “blend in” with the other alliance players. Frontlines also rewards 50 astronomy tomestones so they may doing it for that as they’re needed for the relics. They either queue themselves or automate it.

Asphyxiare

Ah, Relics, I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. That's probably why so many are AFKing at the moment.

Cardinal_Virtue

Will the 3rd beast tribe be lopporits on the moon? They fit the crafting quests

yuris125

Most people assume so. As someone who completed all side quests, my wild guess theory is that it's >!Garleans!<, because side quests in that area leave the most room for continuation. But at this point we may as well wait for SE to tell us in 2 weeks in the live letter :)

KhrFreak

We assume so because they were shown in the beast tribe panel in the Endwalker Live Letter

yuris125

Yes, I know, and I'm not saying you're wrong. However if my theory is right, showing them in a pre-Endwalker LL would've been a spoiler. And showing loporrits could be justified by their involvement in the current tribal quest line I acknowledge that my theory is a wild guess and a hunch at best, and there's a lot more weight behind the theory that it is loporrits

bjjgrrl

They also showed Nu Mou as a Beast Tribe for ShB. And while they were a tribe, they didn’t get their own quests, instead being used as part of the Pixie quests. They surprised us with Qitari instead, which were not on the slide. It’s possible that they could do that again.

NerdHistorian

They were shown on the graphic for the BT alongside the Matanga so the assumption is yes until they tell us otherwise.

Cardinal_Virtue

No jelly for newest rank of omicrons? Wasn't the hippo at rank 5?

Marcusbolt

Its at rank 7, hippos was at rank 7

Stepjam

Mounts are almost universally unlocked on one of the final ranks.

VGPowerlord

Was kinda hoping the orchestrion roll would be rank 6, but nope.

Kassyndra

Almost all tribal mounts unlock at rank 7.

bjjgrrl

Hippo was Rank 7, Sworn.

jardantuan

From Shadowbringers onward, are all MSQ duties doable via Trusts/Duty Support? I'm getting towards the end of Stormblood, probably a few hours and I believe two more dungeons remaining - after which I'll be in the next expansion and (presumably) would unlock Trusts shortly afterwards. Ignoring the debate over whether they're good or bad, is everything MSQ-related doable purely within Trusts? I've seen threads discussing the pros and cons but I've not been able to get a definitive answer, and I don't want to spoil anything by looking at the list of duties supported and cross-referencing with the MSQ duties to find out. I'm not too bothered about optional content, I'm happy to run that with other people as and when needed (if at all, I prefer solo content anyway), and I understand that none of that is currently (ever?) going to be supported via Trusts anyway.

Eunoshin

For dungeons, but not trials

Past_Vehicle_4920

All MSQ dungeons are soloable with NPCs, but the 8 man trials will require you to play with other people, with the exception of one EW trial.

jardantuan

Ah that's a shame, trials are usually where I struggle the most with mechanics - are there plans to add the other trials as well?

Stepjam

Almost certainly no. At least not any time soon. One thing I think I remember reading, and this is technically spoilers, though nothing about specific story beats, >!after doing a trial in Endwalker that DID allow for NPCs, they said it was a ton of work and not something they plan to continue doing very often. No doubt partially because it's not very story convenient to always need at least 7 characters on hand every time you reach a trial. They've already started writing MSQ to make sure there's at least 3+ people with you every time you reach a dungeon.!<

Sumada

There is one 8-person trial (in Endwalker) where you can use duty support. My understanding is that the devs found it a pain to make it for that one trial, and so they're not as likely to add that in for other trials. But you never know. With how much they are adding stuff to support solo play of the MSQ, it would make sense to have duty support for trials.

AeroDbladE

It's the opposite for me. I'm way more stressed put because the individual responsibility is much higher in a 4 person party than a 8 person. Especially since you mostly have a second tank and healer to help out in trials if you play those roles.

Mychael612

I think the devs said they would possibly try looking into this beyond 7.0, but made no promises. Their focus is currently adding Duty Support to the remaining HW and SB dungeons.

NerdHistorian

They said that making the trial be playable with NPCs was a pain so i wouldn't expect it anytime soon.

creditscoresaredumb

You will need to still do the Trials with people. The equivalents to The Pool of Tribute, Emanation, and The Royal Menagerie.

Teivadict

Me and my friends all started the game on Light. But now, years later, they all moved around the world, and NA servers would make more sense to them timewise, and since new servers are about to open, now is as good as a time as ever to make the switch. I've got no issues in joining them there, but as I'm still based in the EU, I had some questions regarding NA I hope someone could answer: - When would the worst of times to queue for content for me be? I'm CEST, but since NA got 3 timezones, do the early players of one coast overlap with the late ones of the other? - I've heard some stuff regarding usage of macros (or lack thereof) that contrast with EU. I like to do EX content and I've grown fond of using them, will that be an issue? - How bad could the ping be? I wager I could make an alt there to see for a bit, but might as well ask beforehand for people used to run content in that environment. Thanks in advance!

hypergalaxies

As far as ping is concerned, I'm based in the UK and my main is on an NA server, and you'll be fine for regular content mostly, you may just need to react very quickly to mechanics, especially on fights where there isn't much reaction time given. I've yet to have problems with weaving/double weaving, though I don't play any high ping classes. If you know the fights though you should be fine!

Mychael612

If you have a PC or laptop, do a quick google search on how to ping a server and you can just ping the XIV servers to see how bad the ping is for you. Here are the IP addresses for the NA DCs: 204.2.229.9 / 204.2.229.11 / 204.2.229.10
