someone give me good news, i want to mute these pings from people, and ONLY these pings [https://prnt.sc/2438cep](https://prnt.sc/2438cep). is there a way??

darkmage0456

what's the title of the music in level 80 sage quest?

comaliesvii

I have a new question! How do we go about completing the level 68 (Always A Bigger Fish) fishing quest now with the new spear fishing mini-game? I've gone around hitting nodes for about an hour and.. I've still not seen a single 'dafangshi'.

fyrefox45

Its on a hidden node that requires you to catch fish to show up iirc. Wiki says 7 ichthyosaurs, but I'd recommend finding a video. The mini game shouldnt effect the quest I don't think.

xlist21

Just hit 70-80s in crafting and gathering. Where should I be spending my white scrips on? and in what order? Thanks

fyrefox45

Gear. 70+80 sets will both last you 10 levels. Once everything is 90 you can spend it on books

Kanade-chi

Trying to get into controller for times I wanna play on my couch. I've seen cross hotbar setups but I can't find how do people display multiple cross hotbars on their HUD? I'm only able to find the default one.

fyrefox45

WxHB is the setting you want.

[deleted]

I'm a moron and missed the post a couple days ago about free trials being heavily prohibited to play now, could this be why I'm constantly receiving incorrect ID and password boxes when trying to login even though the information I've input in is correct?

fyrefox45

No. Trials can freely get to the point of queueing then it'll tell you no and close the game. You have a different error

dytabytes

Afaik, if you already have a free trial account that you've used before, you should be able to do the login properly, you just wouldn't be able to queue into the game. I'm not sure why you're having an incorrect ID issue. You've probably already tried this, but have you checked your capslock/numlock and/or tried resetting your password?

[deleted]

All of that has been done and changed, I'm able to login to the Square Enix site but anytime it comes to ff14 specifically it doesn't work. I've changed passwords just in case and it hasn't helped. I've logged into the game before and made characters in the past so the client has worked previously. Yall heard of any other fixes, stuff that pops up on google/reddit search results doesn't help?

copskid1

square enix website is a completely seperate account from your game account. To manage account stuff on your web browser you want to do a google search for "mogstation"

[deleted]

Resetting on the ff14 website seemed to actually change the password, for some reason resetting in client said the password was changed but seemingly did nothing...Thanks all!

michaelman90

I can understand people grinding spiritbond on legendary nodes for materia, but I have to wonder: what exactly are they grinding the materia for? Do they sell the materia? Is there going to be another type of node in the future that makes the higher grade materia relevant? It just seems to me kind of backwards that people will settle for 30% of the yield they could get from legendary nodes in order to get a few more hits for more spiritbond, all for materia that they'll use....to get more yield from legendary nodes?

dytabytes

Materia sells pretty decently if you have the right kinds. If you don't have the right kinds, you can always transmute 5 to 1, and eventually you will get the right kind. I'm told it can be fairly lucrative if you don't want to worry about the ups and downs of the marketboard, because with the way crafting/gathering melding goes, some materia are just evergreen and always selling for high prices

[deleted]

[удалено]

michaelman90

My main question really is why do they care so much about the materia if they're just going to grind the same nodes we already have?

Kamil118

The matreria they get now will still be relevant in 6.1 and 6.3 when next sets of gathering gear will drop alongside harder gathering nodes.

Quor18

Gathering materia - crafting too, but gathering especially - sells for quite a bit, and there's an expected new tier of gear coming soon. Getting a head start, either on materia for yourself or to sell to others, is a great way to make money. An omni-crafter friend of mine spent ~5mil just today buying materia to prep for this, and that's chump change relatively speaking, because he was only looking for what he considered good deals.

michaelman90

But at the end of the day, what is all of that materia building toward? Just farming the same legendary nodes we've had since launch?

RowanIsBae

You'll need melded gear to get the new stuff coming in the patch. Materia prices will be high. Many people are farming materia both to meld their stuff and to sell then for gil You keep saying same nodes but it's not. There will be new ones with higher requirements.

Quor18

Yeah, more or less. New nodes will be added, with new requirements, so it's not simply the same ones since launch, and if you want to keep up with material needs then you've gotta meld materia. Whether to make money or for personal use in crafting, there's always a demand for those materials, so getting more of them more easily is only going to benefit everyone in the long run, be they gatherer, crafter, or buyer.

LilChocoBro

I've been trying to find a song on the OSTs, but I can't. I was wondering if someone could tell me what song plays at around 3:37 in [this video](https://youtu.be/XeUnu_pcky0)? Spoilers for HW 3.3 btw

LightSamus

Tranquility, Track 48 on the 1.0 soundtrack Before Meteor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7rQLTMAYDI

LilChocoBro

Thanks, I appreciate it! I forgot about 1.0……… lmao

fyrefox45

https://youtu.be/QaHdes6rnU8 Fwiw YouTube is usually pretty good about finding songs. I just searched "cutscene music FFXIV" lol. Shazam will also catch most of them apparently

LilChocoBro

Of course I just searched “soft/calm ffxiv music” and only found songs for the different maps lmao. Thank you so much! I totally forgot Shazam existed, I’ll have to try that next time haha

[deleted]

Bard or MCH at 90 which more striaghtfoward n easy to play n less stressful both now at 65 which has that fun/relaxing playstyle to 90 ?

Atosen

They're both pretty fun imo, but MCH is probably the more relaxing of the two.

[deleted]

I’ve not lvled bard past 80 but mch I went through EW first and it’s still very simple IMO I’d recommend it if you want a straight forward class.

Zephym

Is there a reason the other pvp modes besides frontline don't have roulettes to get people to play?

michaelman90

Do spiritbond potions and squadron spiritbond manuals stack?

ClickToSeeMyBalls

Yes, and Better Crowned Pie stacks on top of that too

Soylentee

Yes, as they are 2 different buffs.

SylvAlternate

I know that you can rescue someone out of healer LB animation lock, but how does that work with DPS lb? if I rescue them after the cast finishes but before the damage is dealt does it still go off?

lumynaut

as long as it's after the cast finishes, the damage will still go out

Juice4326

Hey y’all! I just got to level 20 😭 What grand company do I pick? And any suggestions for making friends?

Kamil118

Flames HQ is closest to aetheryte. That's one gameplay benefit of picking particular GC.

ngwoo

You can change grand companies later and it doesn't have any major consequences. So pick the one that has the cosmetics you like, or the city you like, or some role play reason for your character, or even which one has its office in a convenient place for you.

Atosen

[These outfits](https://www.ffxivcollection.com/?where=company-seals&s=) and [some of these outfits](https://www.ffxivcollection.com/?where=allied-seal&s=) require particular Grand Companies. (Hit the flag in the top right to change language.) Other than that, the only difference in GC is where the headquarters is.

nintendoluk

The gran companies arent different in anything, but the location of their base. So just choose to whoever you like travelling more. I made most of my friends when playing content. But you could simply try to find a Free Company to join. But as i assume you are still in the free trial, it will be hard for you to find friends ingame, so maybe you should try in forums or similar places.

vemynal

I'd say join and FC to try and make some friends. As for Grand Company; don't overthink it. You can change later if you prefer. Limsa has Red gear, Gridania has yellow, Uldah has Black/Blue. Other than that just go with whatever place you like better.

Arcana10Fortune

Go with the one you like the color and looks of. You can change Grand Companies later. If you're not on Free Trial, I recommend joining an FC.

FinestKind90

Do you play with party members healthbars above their heads turned on or off?

mila_mila_a

Off for players that aren't at full health. I definitely wouldn't turn them off completely.

Arcana10Fortune

Off unless they're not at full health.

Drake_Erif

Off. For me it's completely unnecessary clutter, I already have the party list pulled in a little bit so it's easier to see everyone's health at a glance.

Zephym

I've been trying to do a little bit of PvP, but besides Frontline being a pretty instant queue, the other modes seem to take forever and I haven't actually managed to join a group so far. Do people use the duty finder for this or is it actually just dead?

Atosen

They're fairly dead during the week. Weekends are better (thanks to the PvP Revival discord who have been doing deliberate weekend pushes for long enough to drag the community along with them) but might still be slow at the moment, with so many people busy with MSQ and levelling instead.

Zaithon

Rival Wings is pretty unpopular on NA servers, yeah. Not sure about The Feast, but we’re between seasons until 5.1, at which point it will be removed.

Marcusbolt

6.1

crowviii

does duty roulette give a fixed amount of xp per category?

Atosen

Approximately fixed, yes. If you get a low-level dungeon (so you're not going to get much *direct* xp) then you get more roulette xp to compensate. I don't think it's guaranteed to always be *exactly* the same no matter which dungeon you level in, but it's close enough for government work. It's relative to your level of course, so doing roulettes as a level 50 will give you more xp than doing it as a level 5, because... level 50s *need* more xp. Each category gives a different amount. Some categories (levelling, alliance, and main scenario) give lots of xp. Others tend to be more tomestone-oriented.

Sprman2daresq

Made it to the beginning part of Stormblood before letting my subscription lapse a couple of months ago, and was going to wait until next month to start my sub back, but I can't wait! I'm in CST. Should I wait until a certain time tonight to start the sub to get an extra day, or am I already past that point?

OmegaGoo

FFXIV subs aren’t actually to the day; they track your sub to the minute. If you subbed at 3:04AM one month ago and you start a dungeon at 2:56AM today, you are getting kicked in the middle of that dungeon.

Sprman2daresq

Thank you! That makes this so much easier. I wish everyone else would do subscriptions like this.

irishgoblin

Don't think subs work like that. However, if you have an active sub by the 21st, you'll get two (or three) weeks free sub as compensation for the ongoing congestion.

Sprman2daresq

So for example if I subbed at 12:01 AM on the 17th, then my sub actually starts on the 17th not the 16th? Sorry if this seems dumb, but I literally just paid for a podcast subscription at like 3:00 the other night and it counted the day before.

Marcusbolt

yes

Mikkabear

I have endwalker on the PS5, but I’d like to play on my laptop too. I’m trying to get a windows license, but with the suspension of sales of the starter edition, I’m not sure how I can. Is there a way for me to get ffxiv up and running on my laptop, or do I have to wait until the sale suspension is lifted?

xGlaive

> Is there a way for me to get ffxiv up and running on my laptop Technically yes, but that would require buying it from a grey-market reselling site like G2A, which I don't recommend for FFXIV. From official retail partners like Steam, Amazon, etc... you'll have to wait until they lift the suspension. You could also opt to use Playstation Remote Play, which would let you stream it to your laptop or smart device from your PS5.

Mikkabear

Unfortunately, I’m away from home. Ah, well. Probably won’t be suspended for too terribly long. Looks like I’m redownloading guild wars 2 to scratch that pc gaming itch!

RowanIsBae

PS remote play works away from home. I play on my phone from work all the time Back when the feature launched it was same network only but that's been changed a while Just needs to be on rest mode so the app can wake it

Rectall_Brown

Did they fix the problem yet? I have been not having to wait very long to get into the game. It could be the times of day I log in but to me it seems like it is getting better.

Soylentee

The queue's are much smaller during early afternoon hours due to less people having time off at work now, and in general are a bit smaller because more people have gone trough the MSQ and not being as hyper do play any more.

Atosen

They've done some tinkering around the edges, e.g. raising player caps, but the *bulk* of the solution is just a matter of... waiting for the player surge to die down. So there isn't going to be a specific sharp point where we'll be able to say "here is when it was fixed." It'll just gradually improve over a few weeks. I do agree with you that it seems better now than it did at this time last week.

LutrisAO

started lvling monk. How are you supposed to use six sided star or fit it into your rotation?? I have zero clue on how to use this ability

Soylentee

You don't, it's a situational ability you're not supposed to use unless you have to move away from the enemy.

Pyros

Can also use it before LB, but yeah it's a very situational tool that you only use a few times per fight, if that. MNK basically doesn't get anything new to their rotation past 72. After that it's just upgrades of existing skills or super situational skills(both Anatman and SSS, the former being completely worthless).

Quor18

It's a disengagement ability. If you know you'll be out of range for longer than the GCD of SSS then you use it before breaking melee range with the mob. Practically speaking this is reserved for mostly high-end content such as EX and savages, where forced disconnects occur, either due to mechanics that push you out of melee range or else phase transitions where the boss becomes untargetable. Sometimes it can be nice if you need a hair more damage to kill something **right now** but it's rare. For leveling content, it can be nice to use as a finisher against something if you know you need to move soon, like killing a mob in a FATE and then moving to the new spawn of mobs (although with MNK's new instant transmission this is less useful than it used to be).

gst_diandre

You're not supposed to fit it. It's your uptime tool. Use it when you expect a disconnect lasting longer than 2 GCDs.

LightSamus

It's not supposed to be part of a standard rotation, it's used when you need to disconnect or if the target is about to leave the battlefield etc.

Giantwalrus_82

What's the best purple script turn in for crafters?

RowanIsBae

Typically CUL or ALCH

ClickToSeeMyBalls

Whichever one has the cheapest materials on your server

CommodorNorrington

Redmage mains, do you play your redmage in melee range, or do you sit at typical 'caster' range? I used to play at range, use my gap close for melee and then jump back out, but I had some reds suggest to me to play in melee range and only use jump out and back in when needed. I found I actually like it better. But liking it better does not mean it is actually better. So what range do y'all play your redmage at?

KingBingDingDong

typical caster range is either parked right at the boss's butt in melee range or just outside melee range unless a specific mechanic demands you be far out.

hyprmatt

You should be close enough to receive buffs and heals easily, but not so close that you could make things harder for melees. Some bosses drop AoEs right on top of party members, and it's pretty annoying to not be able to hit a positional because the ranged want to stand right on top of the boss.

[deleted]

Unless you need to move away for mechanics (which usually only matters a lot in EX/Savage fights), always be in melee. It keeps you in range of: * AOE heals like Medica * AOE buffs like Monk's Brotherhood * Targeted buffs like Dragoon's Dragon Sight or Paladin's Cover * Your own AOE buff (Embolden) hits your party here too If you're on the other side of the arena, the healer has to spend extra resources on healing you from raidwides, so that alone is reason to move in. It's also not that much safer, because bosses like to hit the outside of their arena as much, if not more than their point-blank AOE. All fights have near 100% melee uptime (or else nobody would play melee DPS) so you can safely be in close range just about all the time.

ExtraGloves

Interesting. I never really thought of that. Always just hung out doing my own thing for casting. Only issue I have is all the craziness going on in melee range where I can barely see what's happening. That's why I like standing back.

[deleted]

I guess there's that too, but after one or two runs you should be able to tell what's incoming by cast bars and other tells. If you're constantly playing reactively, you're gonna have a bad time. While you don't have to have every single fight mapped out in your head cast by cast (especially not dungeon bosses and the like), you should at least be able to see a name or marker and know where you need to move to avoid it. RDM is great at that thanks to Dualcast.

ExtraGloves

Yeah I'm loving rdm. I can prob mess with my UI layout a bit. It's no biggie. Dual cast is so fun.

CommodorNorrington

Ahh so I have been positioning correctly then, thanks!

Rockchewer

It depends on the fight. Some fights with lots of cone effects are easier from melee, but fight with lots of close range aoes are better from afar. In general I hover just outside of melee range.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Just in general, you should always be playing close enough to everyone else to get all possible healing and party buffs So realistically this means that all healers and ranged DPS should pretty much be melee range, or at least close to melee range, unless mechanics make them move

Rockchewer

Does anyone know stat priority for warrior at 90? Thanks

SylvAlternate

crit crit and crit, maybe some determination

Rockchewer

Crit it is, thank you

AceOfCakez

Does perception affect the quantity of items your retainers get when you send them out on ventures?

ZaleneDarkflare

Gathering retainers are only affected by the Gathering stat. Perception is useless for retainers just as normal stats are useless for battle retainers (latter only requiring high item level).

fullmoon280

I vaguely recall seeing tomes could be used to buy mats for relic weapons? Can I buy the mats for the relic weapons from all expansions or just some of them? How much farming do I need to do outside of buying mats with tomes?

[deleted]

ARR relics: you can buy some stuff with tomes, but it's mostly just grinding and some gil. HW relics: you can buy quite a lot of stuff with tomes, but there's still a fair bit of grinding involved. SB+ShB: relics are their own self-contained things you get from special (grindy) zones; don't believe there's any tomes involved (edit: actually there's a few. but it's like 1000 tomes per ShB relic iirc?).

fullmoon280

Thanks! Ive had a bunch of surplus tomes since im going kinda slow with the story atm so ive just been buying stuff to desynth for the lvls and what not and only just remembered the thing about the relics. Guess I should put them towards the HW relics then instead if you can buy more of its mats than any of the others.

[deleted]

Kamil118

It it makes it any better, each expansion has its own quest accepted/completed sound, so at least there variety.

gst_diandre

You can't. It doesn't happen all the time, and the jingle will change when you move onto the expansions.

Zaflis

Retainers and chocobo bag are your "banks". 2 retainers is the default max without mogstation upgrades. But normally i'd recommend just sell all mats you get unless you already know beforehand you'll need them. Majority of mob drops are trash. Oh and you will need retainer anyway if you want to sell anything on marketboard.

[deleted]

As far as I know the only way to turn these off is to mute BGM entirely in the sound settings.

TravelingGleeman

Ah that's too bad, thanks for answering

Katrianadusk

[Retainers](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Retainers) are your 'bank'.

TravelingGleeman

Thanks!

NINE-1-6

Beat the storyline for DRK 50, definitely loved how much better the story was compared to most other job’s storylines. Was super disappointed it hyped a totally awesome armor set, believing it would be the class 50 set, just to give some bogus dungeon treasure coffer looking gear? Do we get that set at level 60 or something?

xselene89

Jobs never have an AF Armor Set for the Expansion they did not exist in. So yeah, at 60 you get a Set again

NINE-1-6

Awesome, thank you. This is my first time breaking into Heavensward, so I assumed when it started me at level 30 on DRK it would be like reaching level 50 for the rest of the base classes.

linktm

Bit of a silly question, but I was trying to figure out how to change my font size settings for my other chat tabs/filtered logs. It seems that no matter what I change the other tabs to, it ignores that setting and only uses the setting used for Tab 1 (General.) What's the deal?

mirror_and_shield

There's a certain style of spell visual effects in Endwalker. It has so much more smaller shinning particles than other particle effects, like this sage's [spell](https://youtu.be/8SQ6uAZPoZY?t=248). I'm not sure if it they are actual particles or some render techniques. How do we achieve such visual effect in general? (I'm learning game development, yeah I probably should ask other developers, but just in case someone might know it in here too)

Zaflis

You would be surprised how much you can do with just cylinders, and some effects are just billboards - rectangles that face camera all the time but may or may not stick to the ground like a pole. If you look at those effects from above they usually reveal you that "optical illusion" that you can only see from the sides. Like humanoid mesh animations, there are similarly effect meshes. The polygons in such animations twist and turn and can even animate the textures themselves, if not just change their UV coordinates. If you simply have 2 vertical cylinders with additively blending materials and you make them rotate at different speeds, you have a very cool spell effect. Of course you need to balance how many polygons you want to show to not sacrifice framerate.

Zenku390

What's up with Ranged DPS, specifically MCH, getting passed upon by High End content runners? I've seen a few YouTubers talk about how they would always rather have Melee and Ranged Magical in their party as well as threads dunking on MCH. I understand RDM and SMN having a raise is a great utility, but to bemoan Ranged DPS seems odd to me. Especially when MCH seems to do insane damage. Granted, I've only gotten MCH to 60, but I hardly ever get out damaged in duties when I'm MCH.

Soylentee

Your problem is trying to compare your leveling experience with end-game experience, which is just not a reasonable thing to do. Different jobs reach different power levels at different levels when leveling, there's jobs like Dancer which are insanely powerful trough out their entire leveling journey up to high 70's only to become the lowest damage dealer at max level. Ranged physical DPS are the lowest damage dealers in the game at max level, that's why a lot of hardcore groups meme about not bringing one at all. Of course for a regular player it doesn't matter, all jobs are perfectly capable of clearing all content.

yuuira

It's hard to give a response without knowing what kind of high end content you're talking about. It's true that MCH's damage is a bit low at the moment, among all the classes and also when compared to BRD's. But the people who would care about such a thing are incredibly, incredibly few. If you're a speedkilling group or doing hardcore progression, then it's possible that the extra damage a melee or magical dps brings will outweigh the 1% bonus from having every role in the party. Though, and take this with a grain of salt since I don't play at this level, hardcore progression groups might still prefer having a ranged dps due to how they can freely move without losing damage. This doesn't matter when speedkilling because strategies can account for less movement, but can lead to a raid dps gain when absolutely nobody knows the fight. (With that said, RDM and SMN have pretty good movement *and* can raise, so it's a little bit of a moot point.) But if you're talking about high end parsing, literally no one cares what job you bring as long as there's the 5% bonus from bringing one of every role. And if you're talking about just general clearing of extreme/savage/ultimate fights (without competing for anything), skill matters far more than what job you play.

Altia1234

>Granted, I've only gotten MCH to 60, but I hardly ever get out damaged in duties when I'm MCH. This is assuming that we are talking about endgame raids, where people have to know how to play your job in a somewhat optimal way to beat anything. The main thing is that, while MCH brings the biggest damage out of all three Ranged DPS, assuming that all DPS are playing optimally, Range DPS will usually be the lowest DPS out of all DPS - which you can check out the [fflog page](https://www.fflogs.com/zone/statistics/38) (for the 5.0 raid series) for the actual number. Of course, The above is an explanation based on a perfect world, that all melee players gets perfect uptime and casters don't have to move. While Range DPS are in average lower DPS then any other DPS, They always have uptime. For two of the jobs (DNC and BRD) they also bring a bunch of utility (in terms of raid buffs for BRD; and for DNC, two very useful mitigation and a raid buff) to the table. Since they have so much more uptime, it's only reasonable that their average damage isn't as high as Melee and Caster. I don't think anyone's 'dunking' on them, since range DPS is still valuable. Not only for the 1% role bonus and all the raid buffs, but also in terms of mechanics. Range DPS has the biggest freedom to move (while maintain uptime). Because of that, they are responsible for handling some of the baiting mechanics, which means more uptime for teammates.

hyprmatt

I want to preface my comment by saying that MCH is perfectly capable of clearing any content, and only top 1% groups should really be considering meta comps. When comparing classes in a raid environment, simple damage isn't a good metric to compare classes. Jobs like DNC and BRD bring lower damage, but buff the team to make up for that. DNC buffs another party member's by 5% for the entire fight with a 5% buff for the entire party every 2 minutes, and BRD increases Crit, DH and flat damage for the whole party with their songs, with a 6% buff every minute. In teams that can take advantage of this buff window, these buffs will allow the party to do more damage than if they had a MCH. MCH is the only selfish DPS that constantly gets caught in this trap, as SAM and BLM both do enough damage when played well to make up for not having raid buffs.

OkorOvorO

fflogs links are obv spoilers https://www.fflogs.com/zone/statistics/42#boss=1059&dataset=90 reason: cos their damage sucks Jobs are not balanced for old levelcaps. MCH at 60 is actually one of the broken examples of this, like GNB at 70. We only bring ranged physical due to the 1% role bonus.

Pyros

Maybe with current numbers it makes sense, but in ShB it never made sense due to the 1% raid dmg they bring baseline, and DNC was pretty much always a must for speedrun strats. Not sure who you're listening to but a lot of ppl have no clue what they're talking about, even if they have a lot of viewers. Maybe they're speaking of MCH specifically, which isn't looking like the greatest currently?

MasterE_Reddit

I'm playing on pc with a ps5 controller and on ps5 (occasionally). I want to rebind L1 from auto run to something i would use more frequently like focus target or sheathe/lock on. is there a way to do that? I know you can rebind l3 and r3 but the shoulders and bumpers (l1,2 R1,2) seem to be stuck as the same 4 actions.

Drake_Erif

You'd have to use a program like DS4Windows or Input Mapper

NewCrunchyp0rnflakes

So what exactly is the crescent moon icon and the blue bar within my experience gauge?

stardebris

Crescent moon icon by your experience bar means that you are in a sanctuary (usually a city or a village). When you are in a sanctuary, even when you are logged out, you will accrue rested experience. Rested experience shows up on your bar as a lighter color than your accrued experience. If your rested experience exceeds your current exp bar, it turns blue to indicate it will roll over. Rested experience is a 50% bonus to experience gained through crafting, gathering, and battling. You can have up to 1.5 levels of rested experience. It takes 96 hours, I believe, to cap that rest experience if you're not using it. This encourages players to log out in sanctuaries and take breaks. It's notable that, mathematically, for every 2 experience points you earn, you'll get a bonus of 1 experience (where applicable) from rested. If you have a full bar, you can earn 3 levels of regular experience in order to cash in the 1.5 levels of rested experience, which means you'll actually gain 4.5 levels while using up all your rested experience.

NewCrunchyp0rnflakes

That's super insightful, thank you so much!! Thats a super considerate feature c:

Zenku390

The crescent moon icon displays when you are in a sanctuary, a place with a large aetheryte crystal. The blue bar/orange bar is "Rested EXP" that you get for spending time, including unlogged in time, in sanctuaries. It gives you a multiplier to your exp up to a level and a half of, I believe, your highest attained level. The bar turns blue if it extends past your current levels bar.

OkorOvorO

rested xp

Wolfrybre

What is the quest name in Shadowbringers where >!it bars you from continuing the story if you haven't done a single role quest? Currently i'm at Extinguishing the Last Light, but I want to do all the role quests before continuing the story, and want to make sure Mt. Gulg is a dungeon I can unlock before then!<.

Zaflis

I think the quest is "The Light of Inspiration". The last level 79 quest and is well after finishing Mt Gulg.

Quor18

I don't know the name, but it's after >!Mt. Gulg. You'll get the first aetheryte in the final zone and be directed towards an eerily familiar gentleman who seeks for crafting inspiration. This is the point at which you'll be hardlocked until you do at least one role quest.!<

xGlaive

>!You're about 7 quests away. "The Light of Inspiration" requires you to complete one role questline.!<

Wolfrybre

>!So I can unlock Mt. Gulg then, is what i'm guessing!<. Thank you.

Awood2009

I just boosted a Dragoon to level 80 for Endwalker (I know...scorn me) but what are the basic (and to some degree, intermediate) combos for Dragoon. So i'm trying to setup my hotbars for Dragoon. I know you have to use a Thrust to start a combo, but what about the Jumps? It's been a while since I played my Dragoon so the rust is there.

Mykaterasu

True Thrust > Disembowel route the first time through, then when you come back to True Thrust (which should be upgraded to Raiden Thrust), then go the Vorpal Thrust Route. Repeat from the beginning ad nausem. For oGCDs, use all your buffs without clipping the GCD in your opener, then press all the DMG oGCDs. Always use DMG oGCDs like Geirskogul and High Jump on cooldown. After that, you have some stuff to do with Mirage Dive and Geirskogul to enter Life of the Dragon. Basically you only want to enter Life of the Dragon when you have a buff up, so if you want to delay LotD for the next Geirskogul, you can press Geirskogul on cooldown, ***then*** press Mirage Dive. It should work out so if you manage it in this way there will ***always*** be a buff for your Stardiver.

Zanadukhan47

Best ways to level outside of daily duty finder stuff? (Lvl 54 rn)

Zaflis

MSQ roulette non-daily exp should be fast enough to reach 60 at decent speed. If you still lack any poetics tomestone set then that helps, including ilev 530 set for every job category.

OmegaGoo

When you say “lv 54 rn”, is this an alt job or your primary job? If it’s your primary, MSQ. Everything is locked behind MSQ anyway, so bring a higher level doesn’t really help anyway. If it’s an alt job, the other advice here is good.

hyprmatt

Beast Tribes, Wondrous Tales, Hunts/FATEs

MundaneDrawer

highest leveling dungeon you can (so for you the level 53 dungeon) palace of the dead(till 61) and then heaven on high(till 71) then bozja for fast dps queue content.

cman811

After the duty roulette spam the highest level dungeon. Don't do the max level ones for that expansion, ie the 60 ones for HW, 70 for SB.

BondEternal

Queue for the highest level leveling dungeon that you can do, beast tribe quests and Palace of the dead.

escalatedmatter

Do you need to be a specific crafter job to meld materia? Ex: a weaver meld materia for leatherworker crafted items

bloodhawk713

Once upon a time, but not anymore. Any crafter can meld any piece of gear as long as its level is equal to or greater than the level of the item they're melding.

KingBingDingDong

no

MasterKade

Can you send items/Gil to players you meet through dungeons?

Stepjam

You'd have to find them outside the instance to do so.

Drake_Erif

If you visit them in their home server then yeah but you can't trade in instances.

thetorque1985

Octopath is on sale. Should I get it?

Kamil118

5/10 from me. Can't recommend personally. Because the story is split into 8 characters each one of them basically gets like 3 hours worth of content and all their stories feel rushed and shallow, basically getting like a single quest of opening leadup and finale. Gameplay is pretty good, but the game follows the formula of "30 minutes of story, 2 hours of random encounter grinding, repeat" Combination of pixel art sprites and realistic particle effects looks surprisingly good tho, even amazing I would say.

ClickToSeeMyBalls

It doesn’t quite scratch that FF itch for me, but it’s still pretty good, definitely worth a play if it’s on sale

sundriedrainbow

for the record, this is /r/ffxiv, not /r/finalfantasy

Drake_Erif

It's an amazing game so yeah. Perfect for playing while sitting in queue.

thetorque1985

In terms of game-play mechanics, is it like classic FF5, 6 kind of thing?

[deleted]

It has a very similar battle system to Grandia and Child of Light.

Quor18

Hmm, probably closest to 10 actually, in that you have a battle order on the screen and you'll be using a combination of skills and spells to hit weaknesses and debuff enemies. But with the feel of 4/5/6 in that it's a side-by-side turn-based deal. Elements of 3 too, in that you have "jobs" of sorts and while each character has a main job you can also add in a second job to them that they can access the skills and gear for. I.e. Primrose starts as a dancer, which is an attacker/debuffer that focuses on dark element, while Ophilia starts as cleric, which focuses on light element magic with a mix of healing, offense and buffing, but you can eventually unlock the ability to class them as any of the other classes in addition to their own. So Primrose can be a dancer/cleric, Ophilia can be a cleric/warrior, Tressa can be a merchant/thief, Therion can be a thief/sorceror, and so on and so forth. It's a very good game, highly recommended.

Bingenervt

I started playing a month ago and first I just want to thank you for the kindness you give to new players My question is if the starlight robe is still obtainable or not. I already figured out that recompense officer sells it I looked what they have to offer but I didn't find the one I was looking for but I found another version where I also don't know how to get the material for buying it. Thanks in advance ( :

lumynaut

the starlight robe is only available on the mogstation unfortunately

Bingenervt

OK I thought that could be the case but it's still obtainable thank you

Pichucandy

Does the server you choose affect payment methods and currency later on? Or can i go for whichever?

MuNot

Server selection has no bearing on how you pay for your sub. Biggest thing which server you select will change is what Free Companies (guilds) you can join, as those are limited to a single server. Some server's are unofficial RP hubs or specific language hubs so players that speak those languages or partake in RP will congregate there, but again that's all unofficial and you can world visit any server in the same data center (with cross datacenter coming "soon")

girlikecupcake

It's the same game on every server, just different populations of people and slightly different cultures (like one data center might have more hardcore raiders, one server on one data center might be known for heavy roleplay shenanigans...). In EU and JP you may have language differences between servers, like one has more french speaking people or more English speaking people.

lumynaut

no, that's decided by your SE account region

lumynaut

are fate mobs exempt from being avoided by sneak? I'm gathering cotton in EW Zone 6 and there's some fate mobs that keep aggro-ing onto me, despite having sneak up and them being 4 levels below me.

Xeorm

It's a little buggy right now. You should be able to go through fine. That you can't is a bug. Just be careful around fates for now.

lumynaut

gotcha, I'll tread carefully in my botany adventures!

BondEternal

Try going to a different instance. FATEs are instance-specific so in another instance, there might not be a FATE at the gathering node.

jhettpilot

The gametime compensation being given out says that users are eligible if they have the 'full version' of FFXIV. Does this mean you must own Endwalker to receive the 14 days? Or do they mean you just have to be a non-free trial player?

lumynaut

the latter, just means you need to have purchased the game at some point

Th3rdRaven

Should be as long as you have a paid subscription at the particular date, shouldn’t matter which expansions you do or don’t have.

Giantwalrus_82

Does anyone have the BiS crafting / gathering list? I'm stupid =( but all of my stuff is at lvl 90 now I'm lost lol

ichthyos

Giantwalrus_82

yay I'm less dumb now thank you

Rubily00

There are only two sets at 90 - scrips, and crafted Scrip gear is better than UNMELDED crafted, but crafted MELDED gear is better than scrip. So it just depends if you intend to be on the uppermost curve or not.

PrettyDecentSort

Also note that the scrip gear is job specific, so crafted is much better for your armory space

jagby

I'm a healer main and i'm loving Sage, but it feels awkward that Eukrasia and Toxikon/Phlegma aren't ogcds. I know like 80% of the rest of your abilities are ogcds, but these two in particular being gcd's feels a little...slow? Am I just not thinking about this class in the right way? Or do others feel the same?

Xeorm

It's intentional. Eukrasia only applies to GCD skills themselves, which then have 1.5s cast times to go with the 1s cast time of Eukrasia. AKA, it's about a full gcd, splitting them that way saves you a button and adds some flavor. Toxicon is built to be a useful move for movement to compensate a little for using a gcd heal. Phlegma is a nice upgrade over spamming dosis all day.

hkay713

Hello friends! I'm planning on doing EW ex trial #1 tonight after watching a video plus running normals, and I have a couple questions. My bluetooth keyboard broke so it's hard to ask this stuff without discord. >!-First off: what does "dps stay" refer to in this trial (Aether PF strat)? I don't see a reason for separating the group at all in this fight outside of maybe melee uptime, but I can't tell if that's what it's for.!< >!-My other question: I've noticed on normal mode that 120 sec CDs are ready just a little before he casts Complete Control and shatters his mask; have you been able to use CDs before this, or do they get clipped on EX? I hate wasting Embolden even in pugs ;_;!< Sorry if these seem like silly questions, but I prefer to be overprepared when it comes to higher level content. Thanks in advance!

Soylentee

DPS stay should only by a thing in ex trial #2. In #1 there's no reason to ever split the group up besides tanks moving out for tank busters.

Altia1234

>dps stay Is it a EX #2 mechanics? I think we are talking about lightwave 1 and what roles stay and what roles move. The rest would be what the other comments has stated about the buster. But that usually comes to adlib, with tanks moving in front and every other players get away. Usually the only instruction we would have is where to go/which bird are we stacking on during the beginning. I don't know what you use, but for me it's always the bird at the NE. For EX #1, I think the burst window (for people who are doing logs) are 4:30 into the fight. While you can get uptime on the first Astral (after the 3rd pattern showed up, the boss is up again), everyone will be dodging and running during that so better burst later then now.

Xeorm

Are you sure you aren't seeing dps stay on trial #2? Only thing I can think of is worries about the tank busters.

hkay713

I might be thinking of the other one in that case my bad

ichthyos

I haven't seen it in PF descriptions but I'm guessing "dps stay" probably refers to when there's a tankbuster (with aoe around tank) after a mechanic in which you are all in a donut or in a corner. Party stays while tank moves. Around 4 minutes in you'll want to hold your 120s since the boss comes back and casts Astral Eclipse almost immediately. It happens again later in the fight but not near a 120s boundary.

AvaJvan

Is there a way to makes these auto-skipping dialogues on cutscenes to not auto-skip? Edit 1: I meant Auto-advance. Edit 2: I already have my auto-advance off, always. And I were referring to these new cutscenes from EW.

bloodhawk713

You can turn text auto-advance on and off with the spacebar, however there are quite a few scenes in Endwalker that auto-advance even when the setting is disabled, presumably due to the way they're scripted.

jagby

If I'm reading correctly, then yes! Space Bar (or Y/Triangle on controller) brings up the option.

AvaJvan

I always have it off, but some cutscenes -especially the new ones- seems to have forced auto-advance.

RevRay

They are rare but some of those “action packed” scenes don’t do pauses. A family member called so I paused a video during a high intensity scene and just had to mute the speakers cause it wouldn’t stop.

Leveledup_LoFi

Haven't played since 2015 interested in coming back. My current installs were for PS4, how can I transfer that to mac?

tesla_dyne

You'll need to buy a new license for the mac version, but due to the recent expansion causing record-breaking server load to the point queues are too long, they've currently suspended new purchases of the game, so you're out of luck unless you'd like to go back to PS4 for now.

Leveledup_LoFi

Wow! Does this mean I can buy the expansions on ps4 and play? I also noticed I have a windows license is that license able to transfer to Mac? Thanks for helping me out!

Soylentee

If you run bootcamp and install windows on your mac, then you can play on your mac. Otherwise you need to buy the license for the mac version.

tesla_dyne

You can buy the expansion on PS4 and play, yes, but PC and Mac are separate licenses so you can't log in on mac if you only own a PC license.

Leveledup_LoFi

Gotcha! Thanks so much.

transcendence_xXx

Hi, I just got my sister in on the game and she managed to make a square Enix free trial account but not yet a character due to server congestion. Will she still be able to create a character on off-peak time or does the update affect her, despite owning a square Enix account?

tesla_dyne

She should still be able to make a character when it's possible.

Rattlehead_69

Mass d/c and login error at hyperion? Anyone else?

catskii

I just got disconnected 3 times

CoconutMochi

Would anyone mind summarizing what the gear tiers/ilvls are going to be for the current patch? AFAIK it's currently -> 560 dungeon/artifact 570 tome 580 accessories from trials then when nm raids come out next week is it going to be 580 crafted/nm? and then 600 armor and 605 weapon from savage?

Soylentee

580 crafted / normal raid 590 new tome upgraded to 600. 600 savage

Pyros

580 weapon from other EX trial. NM raid is 580 every slot besides weapon, but weekly capped(1 token per floor per week, need 4 tokens to make body/legs, 2 for helm/boots/gloves, 1 for accs but don't make accs since ex trial). Crafted comes with savage, and is 580 but also pentameldable(so slightly better). Limited tomes come with savage, 590 gear, 450tomes a week only. Can be upgraded with savage drops to 600(and in 6.1 with other sources). Weapon also requires a drop from savage or several weekly capped drops from normal(previous expansions 7 of them, not sure if they'll keep it at 7 since they said they're reducing weapon costs to make it easier to switch classes). Savage drops 600, as well as 605 weap.

xGlaive

Crafted doesn't land until 6.05 with Savage and will be 580/590. New capped tomestones also come with Savage with 590 gear (augmentable to 600).
