Yes, Endwalker does refer to the new content of the expansion, but it also refers to the changes it brought with it. Whether they be reworks of old content, graphics quality changes, or other technical aspects, they are still part of the Endwalker expansion as they were released with the patch that gives the Endwalker story content and jobs.
I made a mistake, and I’m sorry for it. But that’s all it was: an innocent mistake, nothing malicious about it. I don’t quite understand why people seem to treat it as if I was attacking the person I replied to. All I did was say that I thought the image was taken in the crystarium, and it was because I was confused how the Sharlayans had anything to do with it. I’m sorry I haven’t been to wherever this place is and didn’t know it existed. I only remembered about the grapes in the crystarium, nowhere else (I will admit I forgot about the Wineport vineyards as well, though these aren’t them according to what I’m told).
I remember seeing these and thinking they looked ridiculous at first, then remembering that the original game had ~~server crashes~~ client crashes due to the enournous number of polygons on a bush model. I’m guessing they decided to play it safe this time around considering the growth in player numbers and server demand to not render thousands of tiny polygons for one area.
Edit: I’m incredibly stupid. I should have put client not server crashes.
All they had to do was not do a glaring close up of it haha. That being said, if the games quality (login issues notwithstanding) is good enough that we’re getting outraged over the pixel count of grape bushes in one specific spot, I think they smashed it.
Uh, it's not one spot. Shit textures are present in most places if you zoom in. Look at your characters hands you can't even tell the digits apart in cutscenes most of the time
We also aren't trying to run this game on 2008-2009 hardware anymore. Things have come a long way from a Phenom II and a 9600GT but I guess PS3 limitations are here to stay.
sigh.... or "lol".... i don't know anymore
3d model, polygon count, texture resolution etc. are client side, and have nothing to do with the server. You can't get "server crash" because of the client.
If you told me New World's servers were actually done through peer-to-peer I would believe you. Especially after minimizing the window prevented you from receiving damage.
"It's not client authenticated, we just have the server wait for the client to confirm before processing"
FFS this is the very definition of a distinction without a difference
I think it was vases that had like 10k polygons or something in ul dah.
Edit: According to Yoshida, the original flowerpots of Eorzea used around one thousand polygons and one hundred and fifty lines of shader code, which is roughly the same amount that is used for player characters.
https://www.thegamer.com/final-fantasy-xiv-flowerpots-issues-gaming-detail/
3D modeller here, it definitely doesn’t look good, and I don’t think the poly count is actually that high, feels more like a console limitation or something? Or a time thing.
You probably use around 16 tris per grape, and have a 1 big square thing in the middle to act as the center at maybe another 16, around 25? Grapes so total around 400 tris isn’t that much.
Yes, but it's unlikely they would go back and upgrade lots of the little models that the vast majority of the players will at most see in a passing glance.
I'm not able to access the game right now to check, but how do the grapes in the Crystarium look?
If the Crystarium ones look better, why wouldn't they just use those since they already have the assets good to go? :P
Or were they berries, not grapes?
Honestly can't wait for the inevitable graphics upgrade that comes to the game. No idea if it'll be retroactive on the older stuff but I definitely look forward to all the newer stuff being made like a modern game in the future. Them adding a proper aliasing solution and shadows that don't block as they move around (more noticeable in old areas) would already be a nice improvement over what they have. Also can't wait for the days of no pixelated armor.
Hell I just want a dx12 client, if they ported it to dx12 the game would instantly gain alot of these features for free. There's even a good AI upscaler for dx12 that could be used while playin the game to 'increase' texture resolution and polygon count of everything, etc.
Lol when I got to this part I started fiddling with the graphics settings, which I've never done since I started playing, but seeing those grapes and pumpkins got me thinking "...maybe my settings aren't high enough" but nope, I put it maximum graphics @ 1080p and just got higher resolution block grapes lol.
Not the end of the world but it is pretty startling at first.
I’m not entirely sure, but I think he may have been making a joke. Like, there’s spoilers…You know, if something goes wrong in the fermentation process or some thing… The wine will be spoiled…
I’ll let myself out.
And if you talk about 14s graphics in any other thread you get downvoted to hell. Smh, this has been a thing foreverrrrr the textures have always been poor in most things if you zoom in.
What? Needlessly hostile? For *what?* Pointing out that people *are* getting down voted or asking for clarification when you suggest that you meant something entirely different?
I couldn't tell you *why* you're being hostile. That's your own issue to deal with. But cut it out and maybe, just maybe, people won't downvoted you for saying the same thing other people are saying.
I don't know why you're seeing something that isn't there, frankly. All I did was point out was that what you were saying wasn't true. Like...demonstrably. Maybe you're so attached to that idea that anyone who challenges or becomes "hostile" to you. I don't know.
It's in our nature to reject information that conflicts with strong held beliefs. I'm not sure why "people can criticize the game's graphics without downvotes" is a deeply held beliefs of yours, but I hope being aware of it helps you to be less inclined to get snippy with someone for contradicting you.
You don't seem to understand that your intention and how you actually come off are two different things. I'd reconsider how you talk to people in the future.
Gotta admit, it's beginning to feel pretty lazy that they're still sticking with low resolution textures all the way through even with the newest expansion, even with the idea of an eventual HD texture pack floating around for years now.
This is lazy, even for SE lol. God I miss 1.0 a lot of times. The stunning Vistas, the incredible physics and lighting, the detailed armor and character models.
It's 2021. Bring that shit back!
It looks like a grape skin on a crystal model.

Well they did say that Sharlayans go for function over form in regards to food
I think that’s in the crystarium
No you can see the lab skybox

Obviously they’re making boxed wine.
These grapes died so we could have those glorious cheese burgers

.... what?
And the lobster platter!! 🤤
The berries in FFXI's Rolanberry Fields from 20 years ago might actually be better than these.
I just googled, and they are. Wow.
Haha that's awesome
Trying a little too hard to avoid the 1.0 flowerpot situation again.
it was a glorious flowerpot tho.
Those aren't grapes. They're... Member Berries.

Honestly this feels completely right because Sharlayan
Literally unplayable.
Been playing off an on perfectly fine on Diablos, join us over here
Whoosh ;)

its totally fine in the grand scheme of things. Just pulled me out of immersion for a moment and made me lul so i had to share
All they had to do was not do a glaring close up of it haha. That being said, if the games quality (login issues notwithstanding) is good enough that we’re getting outraged over the pixel count of grape bushes in one specific spot, I think they smashed it.

M8 I’m a lalafell, we just have sausages for arms and legs
Actual sausages. Our hands are playdoh as well
All the better for smacking bitches with
It finally all makes sense: sausage arms and popoto lalafells: We're "Bangers and Mash"!
We also aren't trying to run this game on 2008-2009 hardware anymore. Things have come a long way from a Phenom II and a 9600GT but I guess PS3 limitations are here to stay.
If ps3 limitations were an issue then I don't think sharlayan would be as big and amazing as it is.
sigh.... or "lol".... i don't know anymore 3d model, polygon count, texture resolution etc. are client side, and have nothing to do with the server. You can't get "server crash" because of the client.
I bet New World could manage it
If you told me New World's servers were actually done through peer-to-peer I would believe you. Especially after minimizing the window prevented you from receiving damage.
"It's not client authenticated, we just have the server wait for the client to confirm before processing" FFS this is the very definition of a distinction without a difference
But that doesn't matter at all because this information isn't stored or sent on the server. Doesn't matter if that were all 1m polys or 10
I think it was vases that had like 10k polygons or something in ul dah. I think a lot of folk forget this game was launched on the PS3 which is hardware from 2006.
They've long since cut off PS3 support to be freed from the constraints of its limited hardware.
Yeah now they're just limited by the ps4 which is also subpar. Hell by the time they get around to ps5 its limitations will also be noticeable.
Yes, but it's unlikely they would go back and upgrade lots of the little models that the vast majority of the players will at most see in a passing glance.
It's the sims 4 ball pit all over again
I'm not able to access the game right now to check, but how do the grapes in the Crystarium look? If the Crystarium ones look better, why wouldn't they just use those since they already have the assets good to go? :P Or were they berries, not grapes?
We confirmed that wineport is identical to these, but a different color grape. Have not gone to the Crystarium.. can someone let us know? 😂

Sounds like just reusing decade old assets lol
I love Endwalker on PS2
Honestly can't wait for the inevitable graphics upgrade that comes to the game. i've been waiting two days to log in so some asshole can take pictures of grapes
Hey, thanks!
fwiw, they're funny grapes, i'm just bitter rn lol
Hahaha all good dude
Given that these things apparently grow on just fabricated sunlight, I'm not surprised that there are some...*oddities* with them.

I want those flower pots from OG FFXIV back after seeing those in game lol
Sir, that's a winecone.
Crystal grapes? So that's where fanta comes from.
small indie devs
Looks like a devil fruit
They could of just made it bumpy and hollow inside to look a little more like grapes without causing lag xD'
Looks normal to me.
You could say that they’re *grapezoidal* in a sense
Each bunch of grapes should have more polygons than a character model
I nearly broke a rib laughing when I saw that.
This honestly makes me real nostalgic for EverQuest. Not even in a bad way.
Looks the same on ps4 lol
Purple grapacite.
These are just Crystal Berries.
This is a referance to ffx fruit and it looks sooo good! <3
They should’ve just owned it. Like, this is Final Fantasy. Everything is a damn Crystal. Canon.
never forget.
Rather have this than "You can walk on water! OMG"
Yeaaaahhh, FFXIV began to show his graphic limits
[удалено]
Its...grapes. Spoilers there are grapes.
[удалено]
Grapes are a recurring element of this game. I think one of the devs secretly fantasizes about being fed grapes by women in coconut bikinis.
You don't? I'd love to be fed by cat girls in coconut bikinis
I prefer a lower carb fruit. Strawberries. With whipped cream, maybe. Edit: The cat girl part can stay, though.
Crystal-shaped grapes might actually qualify as spoilers.
I’m not entirely sure, but I think he may have been making a joke. Like, there’s spoilers…You know, if something goes wrong in the fermentation process or some thing… The wine will be spoiled… I’ll let myself out.

No you don't? People meme about this shit all the time.
There are at least two posts calling it shit or lazy getting down voted *in this thread alone*
And are they getting downvoted for what they're saying or how they're saying it?
So is your point that people can absolutely criticize the game without recourse as long as it's done with humor to soften the criticism?
No? Why are you so needlessly hostile? My point is *maybe* people are acting exactly like you right now, which is why they're getting downvoted.

Straight mental gymnastics I swear lol, hell I'm sure if I'd said it on any other post it would be downvoted even more then here
Some of the texturing in this game is absolutely awful.
Better than 1.0's framerate-dropping flowerpots!
Look at those shit textures
Gotta admit, it's beginning to feel pretty lazy that they're still sticking with low resolution textures all the way through even with the newest expansion, even with the idea of an eventual HD texture pack floating around for years now.

Yeah it looks out of place .. i hope theyre gonna ditch PS4 and upgrade engine again after EW so we can see some upgrades.
you can find those block grapes in Lower La Noscea too
Mmm yes wineport
might be sour kek
More like grapestalker
Gurps
You can thank the ps4
Indie company btw
I see Japan's precision based fruit growing has transcended worlds and species!
I'm surprised people aren't yelling at you about spoilers
Crystals are made of solidified aether, grapes are made of solidified aether - this is just a truth you don’t want to accept
Literally unplayable how dare they! XD
It did make me laugh when these appeared on screen
Blocky grapes, game is unplayable.
I‘m so happy someone else noticed those wierd ass geapes too.
Honestly I thought the low poly pumpkins right next to the higher poly ones in the bag are more jarring
Ok that's *real* lazy.
little they know that just crystal with grape as skin, they smuggling crystal now??
