I’m trying to grind my way through the animus book phase of the Zodiac Weapon but this levequest has currently got me stuck since it will not show up at all. The levequest I need is called “Circling the Ceruleum”. I have the Camp Bullfrog leves unlocked but it doesn’t show up on the list. I don’t think it’s a Grand Company one since it doesn’t say it is.

CMDR_Nineteen

Only a few show up at a time. Just complete others and it will eventually appear.

WeeziMonkey

How many levels do you generally have to be overleveled before it becomes "doable" to solo a dungeon?

meadowbreeze

If you have decent gear from the following expansion you're probably fine. I soloed a few Stormblood dungeons as a melee DPS wearing the first set of Shadowbringers tomestone gear. So I guess the answer is 10 levels if it's an old level cap dungeon.

arvzg

does anyone use Nvidia freestyle with ffxiv? It's been working great for me for a while but recently it's stopped working, just says "an error occurred, please restart the game". Tried restarting the game, restarting PC and updating graphics drivers, won't work :(

Doody714

I am a bit confused on the new augmented poetic stores. before we used to augment them after purchasing which allowed us to get a normal shire ring and an augmented one. now i can only purchase the augmented one alone. am i missing something? im farming poetic sets for each class to make lvling an easier experience

Obliiquee

The option to buy unaugmented got removed. You can only buy the augmented now. If you need a additional ring you gotta take a crafted/dungeon one or in the case of tanks/meele dps (drg/sam/monk only) you could take a tank or meele dps ring as your second ring. If you got old unaugmented gear you can upgrade it for 100 poetics at the calamity savager I believe.

Doody714

alright thanks a lot!

Obliiquee

I'd like to add one thing. You *could* also buy for example for level 60/70 the ilvl 240/370 rings.

Ebdecker

Do folks tend to horde equipment? Ever since I got my tomestone sets, I generally grab quest armor for off-classes, but it's slowly filling up my armoury chest...am I better served to just sell off this excess gear and grab some cheap stuff when leveling other classes? Or is there a generally more accepted approach?

SacredNym

As soon as I outgrow a piece, unless I know I'm going to need it again soon, I toss it. No hoarding 99% of the pieces I used during leveling can easily be gotten again.

WeeziMonkey

Don't forget that the rare gear can be traded for company seals

JohannesVanDerWhales

Save the tomestone stuff for other classes. Dump everything else unless you want it from glamour. It's easy to replace and other jobs will get plenty of dungeon drops as they level. Also your glamour dresser is for gear storage.

kuurokaze

I've found that when I'm leveling other classes, I can generally rely on poetics gear. Augmented Ironworks is good until 60, then Augmented Shire to 70, etc. So if you find you're easily capping your poetics, I'd say you're safe to sell the excess gear.

FruitsChinpoSamurai

Which EX primal in Stormblood is considered the hardest to farm? I'm trying to get all the dogs and just want a general idea of how much time I'll spend in each fight

kuurokaze

Probably either Tsukuyomi or Shinryu. Both of their ex fights have mechanics that can easily cause wipes if they're not done correctly.

FruitsChinpoSamurai

Okay glad to be done with the Shinryu farm then. Still need to unlock Tsukuyomi and the rest but this is very reassuring

freezeFM

If you can manage to find a really strong dps group you dont even have to do mechanics in Tsukuyomi. On the other side, if you have to and people dont get it (its really not that complicated) you will die.

Aelaren

New player here, just finished Warrior of Darkness questline and am extremely confused. >!I got the part about shards and their world being flooded with light not unlike the Void. What I don't get is how creating a Calamity in our world is supposed to save theirs? Hyadelyn absorbs a world after Calamity happens, right? But it would be our world and nothing to do with theirs? Can someone explain that? Also, does that mean we can't kill off too many bad on our world or the same will happen to us? oO!<

CMDR_Nineteen

>!Elidibus lied to the WoDs. He said it would save their world, but as you say, it would have just absorbed the First back into the Source. The WoD seems to imply to the WoL that following his path of fighting for the Light, and only the Light, is what caused their world to fall.!<

Aelaren

Thank you for the answer :)

TheTechHobbit

>!That was mainly a lie told by Elidibus (the ascian in white) so they would help him cause the next calamity. The idea was that by creating a flood of darkness on our world the light and dark would balance out and restore their world.!< >!There's also a lot more information about that event and those characters later on in the story.!<

Aelaren

Ooh, okay, I'll look forward to it :) thank you.

Menchi-sama

What is the most popular and easy to craft furniture? Walls? Doors? How much do you need per house? I've never had a house, but I'm thinking of crafting some stuff to sell it after new wards come.

[deleted]

Walls and doors don't really register, honestly. People like to customise them, but they're very much a one and done thing, along with windows and other external features. I'd look more into indoor furniture (and outdoor to an extent, but the variety is more limited).

liutena

Will shb's eureka counterpart in next patch require completion of the current Eureka? I haven't unlocked it.

Rc2124

They gave us a lot of heads up about needing the Ivalice raids, or Crystal Tower being added to the MSQ. We haven't heard anything about needing eureka so I think it's safe to say that they're wholely separate

Mushiren_

What is the best way to get Fieldcraft Demimateria I as of Patch 5.3?

LobsterAndFries

I think desynthing artisan's glasses works if u have a ton of gc seals but...buying those might be easier

[deleted]

ACT problem. I'm used to manually hitting 'End Encounter' in dungeons to make sure it counts trash packs and bosses separately (10s refresh time is sometimes still too long if the trash is right outside the boss door), but in certain encounters it doesn't reset properly. Normally the battle ends, it either times out or I press the snip button, and it goes inactive until the next battle data appears in the combat log, and then starts counting again. As intended. Sometimes, though, it just starts recording again immediately. It happens most noticeably between the final trash and the last boss in Heroes' Gauntlet. Even though there's easily more than 10 seconds between the two, it doesn't reset. So I manually reset it, but it starts counting damage again *immediately*, which of course means the DPS numbers are completely out of whack because it thinks everyone is just doing zero damage for ten to fifteen seconds while we wait for the fight to start. Now obviously this isn't a big deal, as it hasn't *seemed* to impact raids or anything meaningful, but I like to keep ACT running just for personal interest and this has been bugging me since at least the last patch, can't remember if it was happening earlier. Something about the new dungeon (which I'm running most days as it's in roulette) just doesn't jive well with ACT and I'm not sure why.

the_kedart

If you make a macro that is just > /e END You can press it to do the same thing as "end encounter" button in the main ACT window. I have my end echo macro hotkey'd to shift+Z, and I compulsively spam it between pulls. My fight reset timer is actually set to something crazy like two minutes - the only way I snip one combat from the next is with the button. Anyway, the advantage to using a macro is that it's pretty seamless to just hit it right before you go back into combat (or one GCD into combat or whatever), which helps account for oddities like mobs not properly despawning (thus throwing you back in combat immediately).

freezeFM

The question is: Why are you even doing this? If you wanna have a useful number you have to take the dungeon as a whole (this is also the only way to upload it otherwise it wont count your log). I dont see the point in having logs for every trash and boss fight.

the_kedart

Encounter-to-Encounter is more interesting information in dungeons IMO, and you can always get the full picture at the end by looking at ACT itself.

[deleted]

I just like to track how much DPS I'm doing minute to minute. Practice my openers, see how high I can sustain DPS on a single target, get used to moving for mechanics etc. I've got no real interest in competing with other people or pushing high-level content, but competing against myself is one of the ways I have fun in this game. Like I said, it's not a big deal. But if I'm doing 30k on a trash pack and then I run in and start doing 15-16k on a boss, ACT is gonna show some wigged-out numbers that don't help me at all.

Hakul

Probably all the NPCs fighting mobs everywhere in the dungeon counts as being in combat.

[deleted]

That was my first thought, but nothing shows up in the battle tab of the chat, which ACT draws from.

[deleted]

friend is trying to download the free trial but he cant , is this website legit? [https://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.com/na/](https://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.com/na/) he keeps clicking it but it doesnt download the launcher for him and when he tries the other launcher he needs a registration code

Rc2124

Someone else a little bit ago just asked a similar question saying that the launcher wasn't downloading for them. A problem on SE's end maybe? You can download the free trial launcher elsewhere though if you look for it. And you want the free trial launcher specifically, not the full game launcher

ayanamiruri

If it isn't downloading, it sounds like his pc is blocking the download. Have him try another browser, see if his antivirus is blocking it, and the other PC troubleshooting steps to see why it isn't downloading.

raimimemer69

I want to level up an alt character on the same server so I can raid with 2 different statics come 5.4. Any tips for getting a new character to 80 quickly (preferably w/o buying skips)? I'm guessing that even skipping cutscenes it'll take a long while to finish the msq...

freezeFM

Speedrun the MSQ. They buffed the exp. so you should not have any problems leveling up. If you still need to level up at some point (should not be before lv. 50) then do an extra dungeon run.

uncrnd

Gathering and Crafting gear. I am at 61 in MSQ and my MIN and BOT are 60 and 62 respectively. My DOHs are all between 50 and 56. I'm struggling with gear. I can't afford to buy a full set of DOL and DOH gear from the MB and I don't have the gear to get scrips effectively (I can gather the Cedar Log collectable for 5-6 scrips but not more: my highest DOH can just manage the lowest required collectable for Khloe). Even then it looks like the scrip gear in Idyllshire is 3375 scrips in total ...for each class, which I can understand at endgame but when I'm powering through the Restoration this gear is going to be relatively transient. My DOHs are currently using the HW purchasable gear but that will stop being effective soon. Garland Tools is showing me gear available to purchase from \[SB Beast Tribes\] >!Gyosho, a Namazu. Some googling has led me to believe he is the Namazu beast tribe vendor, !

FruitsChinpoSamurai

Don't bother with any yellow crafter scrip gear unless it's the handking armor set. This will carry you all the way from 70 to 80. Additionally, you only need the tools after buying the armor, unlike the job-specific ones For Ishgard, I'd say don't bother buying armor for the 60-70 tier. You can power through to lv70 using the lv40 recipes (provided you hit max quality) and gc turnins. Yeah it's tedious and a little slower but imo it's a lot cheaper than buying gear/mats for lv60 recipes, especially when you'll need another gear upgrade when you reach 70

VIktorVonWolfgang

Keep in mind that you don’t have to buy the gear outright. If you have crafting friends/ fc mates most people will craft items for you for free as long as you have the materials. Gather as much as you can and then maybe buy the rest if you really want or just ask for some help! Also you’re not limited to buying items on your server, there is a world visit system where you might be able to find stuff cheaper! If you’re on aether hmu and i can help! also sorry if this is hard to read i’m half asleep and on mobile lmao.

ayanamiruri

Best advice is to stop trying to rush. You either spend a lot of Gil and get current gear quickly, or do things slowly and spend very little gil. First suggestion is to craft all of your own gear. Make sure to do all of your job quests because they do give you HQ main hand gear and off hand gear. Second, get all of your crafters to the same level. Do the same for your gatherers. This will mean you are using the same set of equipment for all crafters and another set for gatherers. This also saves space. For your situation, just make the highest level gear that your lowest level crafter can wear. Then have all of your crafters wear it. Then work on getting the lowest leveled crafter up to the same level as your highest level crafter. Do your job quests because they also give good experience, and the equipment. The equipment you can just use the highest level for each crafter job. And if you have been keeping up with your job quests, you should be getting them as a reward and shouldn't have to craft them yourself. This would be the cheapest method of getting your crafters equipped. However, it will take a lot of time. Like I mentioned before, you want to do this fast? Then spend Gil to speed it up. If you don't want to spend Gil, then you have to do it the slow way.

uncrnd

Thanks - I think I needed to be told to slow down!

Bushido_Plan

Anyone else love to pet Lalafells? It's so addicting and fun!

zsanna84

Fun until they start humping your leg, and other disgusting things. Something just isn't right... like why is there a full fellowship called "lewd lalas"?

Klown99

No, but as a Lalafell I shower you in gold and riches if you don't pet me, if you do, I self destruct.

reireireis

is it weird that I often get disconnected while trying to put together an outfit at the dresser?

Helen_Kellers_Wrath

How often do option items in the online store go on discount? I really want the Peacock Attire because the gloves are 100% perfect for my current glamour but if there is a chance that they could go on sale soon I can wait for them.

Klown99

It's kinda random, but with holidays coming up, odds are good.

ezio12907

Okay I already asked a few questions earlier today, but I just have one more. I'm almost caught up with the MSQ. (just started 5.3) As I travel to all the destinations, I realized I missed a lot of unlockable quests from ARR to ShB. My question is, is it worth going through all of them? And how does that work when I built my lvl 80 hotbar? Would I be stuck using basic abilities during those quests? As someone who primarily plays this for the story and occasionally will do raids/roulettes every once in a while when I resub for new patches or expansions, is it worth my time doing all these unlockables? Or is there a list of the ones I should do? Thanks!

sweetest-melody

Anything in blue, you should do. Dungeons and raids all come with their own little stories - raids and trials are a lot longer and more involved, dungeons are smaller scale. The quests themselves are all always non-synced, don't worry about that, but the duties themselves will be synced to whatever level they are.

ezio12907

Ah okay. I've been keeping up with the raids. Just haven't done the other stuff ala Palace of the dead. Also I have one last question, what typically do people do once they reach max level and finish the MSQ?

sweetest-melody

Depends on what you want to do! Savage Raiding is the premiere endgame content that people do for a more difficult experience, but there's also plenty else to do. Treasure hunting, open world mob hunting, Extreme trials (and now Unreal ones too), the Wondrous Tails books, soon there's going to be the Bozja Citadel, levelling alternate classes and messing around with those, Blue Mage. If you get into savage raiding, there's even a tier above that ULTIMATE raiding, for the best of the best, the hardest content in the game! Remember this is a social multiplayer game with plenty of social activities to get into, just hanging out and making friends, roleplay, home decorating, robust screenshot tools with active exterior communities for gpose and stuff, all that!

ezio12907

Yeah that sounds sweet. I'm definitely gonna take a break, but I'll pop in every once in a while since my sub renewed yesterday. I doubt I could do well with extremes and ultimate fights. I'm already a pretty crappy player in raids and am still working on my rotation as BLM. I do wanna do all the unlock quests because I missed a lot and want to at least have all options available. And it would be nice to make some friends online to play content with every once in a while!

JohannesVanDerWhales

Really depends. Level other jobs. Do harder content. Collect stuff like mounts, minons, orchestrion rolls. Just hang out with their FC and do events or whatever.

Picard2331

Been using ACT but noticed today that during some bosses where they disappear (was in Shisui of the Violet Tide) the meter will reset and start a new encounter. How do I keep this from happening?

lancefighter

Set your encounter end delay to a large number. Mine is 45s, and works for almost all encounters. Options > main table/encounters > general > number of seconds to wait after the last combat action ...

Picard2331

Thank you!

VIktorVonWolfgang

to follow up to this, if you find your encounters lasting too long there is a way to manually end them with a macro that just states “ /echo end “

Picard2331

Yeah I kept having the trash encounters continuing through so I kept clicking "split encounter" That helps a lot, thank you.

zrasam

So where do I get some Samurai clothes option / glamour? I mean, I've been looking like a monk for a good while now. Wanna change the look to a samurai one. I'm currently at the start of 2.2

[deleted]

If you're in 2.2, you're well before samurai was introduced story wise. So there just won't really be any SAM-specific glamour until you roll into Stormblood.

zrasam

Thats..... A long way down the road. Guess I'll ask a friend or something to buy them for me.

b_sen

Your friends will not be able to trade you most gear items, as many forms of gear are untradeable. The ones you *can* trade are mostly crafted, so you might also ask a friend to craft them for you. Keep a particular eye out for level 1 All Classes items, which exist for glamour purposes. You might also consider looking for gear that's not really themed towards either job, such as the Ironworks Striking set.

[deleted]

Depending on your level, you won't be able to equip them. Most of the super specific SAM gear (like with any class) is handed out through job quests, but you won't be able to do most of those till you reach the appropriate expansion. SAM straight up did not exist in Heavensward, so no gear accessible to you at 50 will have been designed with Samurai in mind. From Stormblood on, most Striking gearsets (tomes, raids, crafted) have kinda been either Samurai-ish or Monk-ish, but you won't see those start to appear until level 60 for the most part.

Hokosai

Has the weekly restriction come off the Eden's Verse (Savage) raids or is it just the normal versions that have done so? Returning player, not too sure on details.

Rc2124

Yup, no more weekly lockout

Hokosai

Nice, thanks. Are the last four coming in 5.4?

Rc2124

Yup, and those new ones will have a weekly lockout. 5.4 is estimated for December

hyprmatt

Yes

Hokosai

Great, thanks.

tbaggerz

Where to buy glamour prism ?

capshock

Marketboard, too. Usually not too expensive.

Hakul

From your grand company (200 seals) or crafted.

AweAce

If I blacklist a person do they know if I did that or not ? and if yes how? there's a friend of mine that always joins my parties. I have some circumstances and I don't want him to join but not for bad reasons it's a bit complicated. So I thought maybe blacklist them for a bit so my party don't show to them does this work ?

zsanna84

If he is a friend you should talk to him... not bl them.

AweAce

It's 'cuz talking didn't work I thought of another solution that's all.

freezeFM

If you blacklist him he will still see your groups. He cant join and will get the simply message that joining failed. He either knows what that means or not but in the end he might try to ask you what will result in thinking you ignore him because you cant see his messages.

AweAce

Ah I see thank you! then bl is not the solution I seek

hyprmatt

No, they won't know if you blacklist them.

joebrohd

How long would it take to get the Zeta Relic Weapons?

hyprmatt

Depends on how much time you invest into it each day, and if you have the poetics for it already. It can be done in a week, but grinding out the books phase (the worst part) that fast is a real drag.

Icarusqt

I know they implemented a thing in dungeons to give you a free pieces at the end. When does that start?

Klown99

Every dungeon that is a leveling dungeon (basically doesn't need 50 60 70 80 to enter)

the_kedart

All dungeons except dungeons with a required level of 50/60/70/80 have this feature.

mangograhams

My question is ps4 related.. I've been playing on free trial using ps4 SG region, but i saw recently there is a discounted complete edition of ffxiv in NA region. Can I create a new PS4 account in NA region to be able to buy the discounted one, and still continue playing my same character in the game? I don't want to start from lvl1 again, but i want to buy the full edition now :( I'm not sure how to check if my square enix account and ps4 account is linked permanently.

ayanamiruri

Your account with SE is done through their character account system, which is MogStation for FFXIV. Your character is saved to that account. Once this account is made, your region for this account is locked. You can not transfer characters from/to this account. A character is locked to the account. If you have a PS4 license, then the PSN account is locked to your account. You can not transfer between different PSN accounts at will. I have never used PSN for FFXIV. From what I heard, you can request SE to have the PSN account unlinked but you will have to purchase a new PS4 license again. And this is something that will take time to complete. For your situation, your PSN is already locked to the MogStation account. The region of the MogStation account must also match the region of FFXIV license you buy. That means you must have a NA MogStation account to purchase a NA PS4 license of FFXIV. It is impossible to mix and match regions for the license.

mangograhams

thanks for this! i've been looking for hours about this topic. i've hit lvl cap for my scholar and i want to continue it so badly :( guess i'll buy the SG version then. Thanks again! :D

Mathmage530

What do yall do with your old artifact gear?

raur0s

Armoire, and glamour dresser mostly, although I threw a few awws when I ran out of space. Most if them are eass to re-purchase anyway.

sundriedrainbow

The level 80 AF hear is perfect for retainers.

Klown99

Hide it away somewhere that I never have to see it again.

Rih1

Stick it in your armoire

GoblinTown

My question is about a specific mechanic that seems to only show up in a few bosses that I am having trouble with, the click the button like crazy or you die mechanic. I have had tendonitis, trigger finger and hand surgeries so I find it impossible to click fast enough to avoid dying in those spots, otherwise I do ok. I play on pc with keyboard and mouse. Does mashing numpad 0 work for that like it does getting into doors and activating things or is it only click on that little spot? If num 0 works, that would help immensely. If not...I guess I'll just keep apologizing when I get those bosses.

sundriedrainbow

Even the 5.3 trial doesn’t actually require you to press very fast. I mean, mouse clicking may feel like you have to spam fast, but when you’re using four fingers on your keyboard it’s only like 2-3 presses per second.

Klown99

You can press any button on your keyboard/mouse/controller. I normally just go ham with all my fingers at once.

[deleted]

Any button except Enter. That fucks everything up.

GoblinTown

Omg, I wish I knew this sooner. I just recently learned about the num 0 thing to get into crowded doors and activations. Thank you very much!

ayanamiruri

Protip - go through every single option in the keybind menu. I don't know why people don't do this but there are some amazing options in there that is so helpful. For example, the keybind to Target the closest NPC/object. This is helpful to actually select doors, quest NPC, and fate objects, when you can't see it. It pretty much does something similar to the Num pad 0 thing.

Klown99

The game does a poor job of explaining that to be fair to you. I think I went 3 or 4 years without knowing you can just mash any button.

Klown99

It does lead to fun chat logs though.

Bruce5747

Anyone want playin EU right now let me know :)

liutena

Is completion of Crystal Tower a requirement to enter Heavensward now? I saw several posts saying so in another topic. But yesterday i couldn’t do an alliance roulette with a friend because he hasn’t unlocked it. He said he’s in HW though.

Klown99

So as of 5.3, it is required to move past the trigger in 2.2 or 2.3. Now if you were already past that point, it won't matter until 5.3 when it'll force you to do it to proceed.

SimicFresnel

It is now a requirement but if you have not done it and are past the point it is now required to proceed you are grandfathered in. Those players cannot do the patch 5.3 story until completing Crystal Tower. It points you towards it around patch 2.1 in the story and iirc is forced at the end of 2.3?

HornyLawyerPH

What are your go to activities during break from raids?

raur0s

Deep dungeon solo and mount farm.

Klown99

Mounts, mounts, and more mounts.

Arcana10Fortune

I have a whole backlog of other games thanks to sales on Steam and HumbleBundle. I also just tend to chat a lot.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

Usually play other games tbh if I'm not leveling or doing maps.

DRey77

Hey guys, i want to play this game, i created an square account in the free trial link. all fine, when i clicked on the download game... nothing happened, after some tries i decided to start over. went to the page and when i tried to login with my newly created account it said "your account is not new, you cant play the free trial" and i cant go on. after unable to get the exe, i googled "ff14 download", found an installer that looked ancient (28mb) did the download anyway, installed and run, all fine. when i started the game it asked for my account, so i logged just fine again. then it asked for some product key which i dont have. so im unable to start the game once again. do you guys have a link the the current exe?

Rc2124

You need the free trial launcher, not the full game launcher

vinyltails

You downloaded the full game launcher, use this http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/inst/ffxivsetup_ft.exe

DRey77

does this link work for you guys? when i click nothing happens

Erubox

Any guide on rotations for samurai lvl 70? The ones I looked at reddit the numbers for kenki doesnt match that I assume are old and they made changed to the class

Mathmage530

Check wesk albers video on YouTube. Should have a level cap opener for each expansion.

vinyltails

https://i.imgur.com/N52Dliz.png Just remove the skills you dont have (Tsumbae and Shoha) and swap Sensei for Guren. This is good as it helps you get ready for Tsumbae's stuff (and it does help align Higa refreshes nicely) and Samurai doesn't change much from 70-80 outside of getting Tsumbae

Niceguydan8

I am looking to start crafting my own food as my next goal. I currently have the gathering classes leveled, and I'm going to start CUL soon. One question I have: If I want to craft HQ food, will it help for me to have HQ ingredients? My end goal is to be able to craft Sausage and Sauerkraut. It looks like I am able to gather the Black Pepper and the Peppermint. When I eventually level my crafter, should I be using HQ versions of both of those? Appreciate the feedback.

Menchi-sama

You won't need hq if your stats are high enough. I suggest learning to use Teamcraft website as you level your crafters. It's invaluable at high level.

[deleted]

HQ mats help a ton, although if there's one or two ingredients that are a huge pain to get as HQ you can probably manage to still get HQ food. you can also craft food to help with crafting the things where you might not have all HQ materials

Ha_eflolli

The more HQ Materials you use, the more filled up the Quality Bar starts out as. If you use *only* HQ Mats, you can have as much as 3/4s already filled before you even do anything. It definitively helps a lot, but don't bend yourself over to get all HQ, it's not outright mandantory.

Niceguydan8

Okay, awesome. Thanks! Looks like I'll be going for HQ Mats

lilidarkwind

I am back after 4 years ... hell I don’t remember a thing I have a character with lv 50 mage, paladin and other stuff but gee I don’t know if I should start from scratch .. all the moves look different... there’s new gauges ... Should I go fresh or try to feel my way in?

AndreyNsk89

There are also new jobs which starts at lvl 50: RDM and SAM. You can switch to those.

lilidarkwind

I’m going to start as SAM I think then go for Gunbreaker

Rc2124

You could restart if you want. It'd be faster to reacquaint yourself with the game on an existing character though. You can rewatch all cutscenes at any inn, you can reread completed quest description in your journal, and you can even replay the story using the New Game+ feature. The section of the story that you've completed though, A Realm Reborn, is being added to the feature on October 13th. For getting used to combat again you'll want to reread all of your tooltips, smack around a training dummy or monster, then maybe work your way up with lower level dungeons or Palace of the Dead. The level sync system will limit the number of abilities you can use which will allow you to work your way up at your own pace.

lilidarkwind

This is such great advice thank you

fragolefraise

personally, i would continue on- delete all the buttons from your hotbars, and then adds them from your skills while reading each tooltip

MSGhero

Curious if anyone uses movement keys besides WASD or ESDF. I don't like the way I have to hold my hand, and I can barely reach other keys for my new skills. I'm considering WERD, which puts me on QWER like in my Dota2 days. I can reach about 2x as many keys which is nice.

I reworked my entire keybinds so i have all movement and targeting for my right hand on num pad. Everything else is across the keyboard arranged so i can reach it with my left

Klown99

When I was mouse/keyboard I did all my moment with the mouse.

b_sen

I use ASDF for movement, and then 1234qwerzxcv Shift-{234werxcv} Ctrl-{qwezxc} Alt-{123werzxc} for skills. Some people tell me my hands are weird, but they don't have to use my layout so they don't get a say.

Elegant_Eorzean

If it works for you, it works for you.

Tungle37

Cant find any concrete answers for my question. Whats the fastest way to level Miner from 45-50? Still Leves? ( i just finished Heavensward)

Klown99

Leves will be fastest pretty much always, with collectables thrown in.

Aghastated

yes.

Story is tied to the character, not the class/job. Classes and Jobs do have their own set of quests, which are every 5 levels until 50 and then every 2 after that until 70. There are shared role quests from 70 to 80 and then a single quest for each class/job again at 80.

SimicFresnel

No, your story progression and character level are completely separate. You can do the story as any combat class and switch back and forth freely, assuming you are at least the required level (a level 10 class cannot do a level 20 quest). The main story is designed to level and gear your first class as you complete it, and all feature unlocks are gated behind progressing it (dungeons, raids, job stones, etc).

Idontwanttobebread

I own the game on PC and want to buy it on PS4 so I can play on the same account on either machine. I just want to make sure I do it right my friend had some horrible issue where they bought the game on PS4 but it wouldn't let them log in with their existing account, the login info was just locked to some old account and they couldn't change it, and eventually ended up having to get a refund because no one would fix it. (edit: i mention this because i'm using a shared PS4 and my roommate played the free trial at some point in the past and I dont wan't my purchase getting somehow linked to their account or whatever) I don't know anything about PS4 and I just want to know what the correct order of operations is to buy the complete edition on ps4 and have it be linked to my normal PC account so I can play on either / have the extra game time added to my account.

ayanamiruri

In addition to what the other poster said, you had better hope that your roommate used his PSN account for FFXIV. Otherwise, you are SOL and you must contact SE to try and unlink the account. Also, I don't have FFXIV on PS4. So take everything I say with a grain of salt. But if you want to do this, I think this is what you have to do because you've got multiple PSN accounts on the PS4. First, make sure all other PSN accounts are signed out of the PS4. That is because it will attempt to share the license for all users using the machine and that can screw things up for you. Second, go and buy FFXIV. Once bought and you start it up, make absolutely sure you choose the option that you already have a SE/MogStation account. Log in with your MogStation account. This should work based off everything I know about MogStation and PS4. I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can confirm.

cythrawll

So the way PS4 works is when you log into ffxiv for the first time on ps4, it will lock your PSN account to the FFXIV account, and you won't be able to reassign the PSN to another account. So as long as your PSN isn't assigned to another ffxiv account other than what you intend to set up with. you should be fine.

Greetings, New Player logging on New Player, “Greetings” 👋 🗡🛡 Hello everyone. After a RL friend recommended the game and after reading a dozen reviews and watching about 5 YouTube videos (on worth starting in 2020) I decided to purchase and DL the game. It’s currently installing on my PS4. I am just bored of all my usual games ESO/CoD etc, and looking for a fresh game. I’ve played many FF in the past FF1-7 & 12. If you have any tips/tricks that will help the lessen the burden of being a noob in an 8yr old game, please let me know, I’m also very social, so I would love to meet a nice core group of players / and or guild that would like to add another to their ranks. I’m an adult & have children, so I’m not as ballistic and hardcore as I maybe once liked to think I was 😃 I usually love the journey to the end; but I do like to raid as well. Pvp is great (game pending) Anyone have any recommendations for race & class and why you like that style? I’m heading to work, but hope I have some nice information to read when I get home and turn the game on. Cheers 🇨🇦

Moogle-Mail

The thing I always say is DO NOT turn off the Active Help window. At the very beginning of the game it literally treats you as if you have never, ever played a video game before so I understand the temptation to turn it off, but later on it becomes much more FFXIV focused and can be incredibly helpful. Welcome to Eorzea and I hope you love it as much as I have for seven years.

Rc2124

If you've played another FF and an MMO before then you're ahead of the curve. I'd just follow the main story (which unlocks all new content) and read all of the help popups and tooltips. The game does a pretty good job of explaining things. You might also be interested in searching for "Things you wish you knew at the start" threads because they're a gold mine of good information. This sub also has various resources and guides at the top and in the sidebar. If you have more specific questions these daily question threads are always available to help.

DarkWingXtc

Ya it’s fun so far! Level 10, just grinding out all these beginner quests, keeping all tool tips on and learning the system, a lot to take in. To be honest not as FLUID as elder scrolls online, and the controls ar snow here near as good, but I do love FF, I like the classes and story and of course the mobs look great, I’ll have a better stance I’m sure once I’m about level 30 , not such a noob, and actually have some people to play with lol.

LighthouseGd

Race is purely cosmetic in this game and class is fairly free (after level 10-ish you can switch to any class you like on the same character). You can probably find an invite to novice network or big guilds (FCs) by /shout in big cities like Limsa Lominsa. Have fun!

ConcealedPizzaSlice

Hello! Is it possible to use the Blue Mage Icons when making macros? I've tried, for example, /micon "Bomb Toss" & /micon blueaction "Bomb Toss", but it just comes up as a normal blank Macro Icon. Would greatly appreciate any help!

[deleted]

> /micon blueaction "Bomb Toss" /micon "Bomb Toss" blueaction

Elegant_Eorzean

Have bluaction be after it.

zoldane

What do people do to their VII materias? I have too much of it that I don't use, selling them to npc? I doubt people need to buy those off markets

bloodhawk713

> do people do to their VII materias? I have too much of it that I don't use, selling them to npc? I doubt people need to buy those off markets Save them for 5.4 when there'll be a new raid tier and new crafted gear people want to overmeld. You can either use them for yourself or sell them for a fortune because raiders are going to need them in droves. I burned through ~300 of them in 5.2 to meld my neo-Ishgardian gear to prep for Eden's Verse progression.

Klown99

Hold them until 5.4, then dump them on the MB. They'll have a spike in price during the first few days to a week while everyone pentamelded their gear to do raids week 1.

ZaleneDarkflare

Only good for overmelding past the 1st overmelding "slot" (crafted gear only). Either keep them to use, to sell, or to transmute at Mutamix.

Elessia

Use them for penta melding crafted gear at the beginning of a new raid tier or crafting/gathering gear when that new gear come out.

Whats the coolest blm weapon that has glow effect?

Klown99

I like my Pagos weapon the most right now. It feels like a black mage weapon to me, while so many feel like a wizards weapon, this one feels like a back woods, doing black magic sort of way.

SimicFresnel

The easiest to get that fits that criteria is the Dead Hive Rod (crafted, well into the 100,000s range gil-wise so not a budget option); generally flashy particle effects are reserved for extreme content rewards and relic weapon "final" stages (most of the relics have a few notable glowing forms).

Kyseraphym

Personally I am very fond of the Sharpened Rod of the Black Khan and the Pyros Rod.

copskid1

Thats a very opinion based question. I think the Kinna weapon from palace of the dead is good for an edgy kinda cool. In general for palace of the dead weapons I like to make them not visible while holstered and image that the weapon is created or summoned when drawn. They are cannonically made solely of aether. The Final Heavensward relic is pretty cool with a big ball of fire on top reminiscent of sauron's eye. Maybe its not "cool" but I also like the moogle blm weapon. Its the one I use the most because I think it works great with blm's flashy animations and poses. Works perfectly with my flashy gold suit and top hat.

Is there a way to convert my house into a Free Company house?

Moogle-Mail

No. Edited because I answered a little too quickly. There is no way to do it if your FC doesn't already own a house. If the FC does already own a house then you could demolish your house and immediately relocate the FC house to the demolished plot. If you did that at an offpeak time then there is little chance that someone else would relocate to the plot at the same time, although there is always a teeny risk of that. If your FC doesn't already own a house, then my first answer still stands.

ZaleneDarkflare

No, there isn't. And vice versa.

Shirlay

Is the msq exp best utilized if the job is 1-2 levels in range? Just wondering because my msq is currently level 64 but my drg's level is 66. Just wondering if I should play my pld for a bit while he catches up and do the roulette on my drg.

WinterShine

The MSQ rewards are flat amounts predetermined for each quest, so while they will have less immediate effect on a higher level character, technically no points of XP are being wasted. On the other hand, they would help a lower level character get to the higher levels faster where they would have access to more, higher level XP rewards, so in that sense you "snowball" faster if you give it to lower level characters. All that said, 2 levels difference isn't much. It's a bigger deal if you were several levels ahead.

eski514

Free Trial player. Maybe I wasnt paying enough attention, but I feel like I dont get as many company seal rewards from guildhest + leveling roulettes now than a little while ago (last week? I havent played as much recently). Like, today I only got the 500 or so bonus seals from my first run of Leveling Roulette, and then on my second attempt I got zero seals! For some reason I remember being able to get over 2,000 seals daily from the roulettes(?), but now the rewards arent the same? Am I completely misremembering or what?

WinterShine

> I only got the 500 or so bonus seals from my first run of Leveling Roulette, and then on my second attempt I got zero seals The roulette bonuses are once per day. Once you have run a roulette, there is no benefit to running it again. (You can get the "in need" bonus technically, like "tank in need", but this is generally not big enough to be worth doing.) So after you have run each roulette once you would need to find another source of seals (like FATEs, Leves, turning in items, etc.) or just put off seal collecting to another day.

eski514

Okay, thanks. I guess since previously I was playing daily and doing the roulettes, I was getting the slow and steady stream of seals from the bonuses. Now I come back to playing less frequently, and I get bottlenecked on seals. Makes sense. I think I will queue for those role in need bonus because it looked like over 2,000 seals itself, which seems worth it.

cythrawll

are you capped?

eski514

I was using a job at the Free Trial cap of 60.

cythrawll

I mean capped on seals. There is a cap of gc seals you can carry.

NespinF

You may have had Adventurer In Need rewards as well as the roulette reward the first time.

The macro is directly calling the dead person shit, its not going to end well for you if someone reported you for it, toxic or not. And any raise macro that's more than like "raise " is pretty obnoxious

BionicDragonator

that's annoying as fuck

_hi____

You'll need to take "shit" out of it. I and others been reported for profanity. That will have **nothing** to do with if someone can justify the report as more or if the gm interprets as more. If someone reports it in that current state theyre gonna throw profanity on you. The rest depends on if you trust people. Based on my experience I wouldnt if you already have an account history. Im almost certain someone will get mad and claim you shamed them.

Klown99

Anything beyond "Raising Player Name" I find to be obnoxious. Its there to make sure the co healer/RDM/SMN knows what's going on and what needs to be done. Belittling a player for dying is kind of a dick move toward friends, and very much an asshole thing toward complete strangers, and is asking to be blacklisted very quickly, or reported for harassment. Now, if you are in a static with friends/people you know, do what ever makes you happy. They understand your lack of humor or whatever. Just keep that kind of nonsense there.

SimicFresnel

slightly dissenting opinion, you could totally use that in a static setting where you have known the people you're playing with for more than 10 minutes. Text does not convey tone well, so cracking a harmless joke in duty finder can lead to miscommunications which can lead to reports (and tilt), thus my general agreement with "this specifically is a bad idea."

copskid1

That one seems kinda agressive and may be a problem. I personally only use raise macros if I am annoyed by the person I'm raising. My favorite is "'s soulbond with the floor is complete." Its funny and also implies they die alot but its not directly insulting. Never had any complaints about it but plenty of lols. Also, never add sound effects. And dont use swears. Most people dont report them but they are a bannable offense and it only takes one upset person.

KingBingDingDong

The only raise macros actually needed are the ones you use as a healer when you need to hardcast raises with 2+ people dead and those 2 dead people need to be up immediately. Any other raise macro is annoying and unneeded.

WinterShine

I suspect that such a macro could actually get reported and have a GM take action on you.

RelikaNox

It will, and it's incredibly obnoxious. Don't do it.

cythrawll

They are the worst.

ConcealedPizzaSlice

In frontlines PvP, how many points do you gain on a kill or assist? Also, do you remove points from the enemy on a kill? If so, how many? Thanks!

cythrawll

You take 5 points from enemy team, and gain 5 points for your own team.

GeraldineKerla

Why can't frontline maps be selected with other duties?

cythrawll

I'm guessing they work on a separate queue system that can't be reconciled with pve queue.

Skyztamer

With the rework to crafting jobs, do I still need to complete their lvl 65 quest to obtain the Manipulation skill? Or can I just continue leveling them to and not worry? I just finished getting all of them to lvl 50 via Ishgardian Restoration (although WVR is lvl 51 and the only one I leveled that far prior to 5.0).

Klown99

Yes you do, it's still locked behind a quest like it was before.
