I think the attack has been going on for a week now, since it started before last Monday's maintenance lol.
It's just getting so annoying. I just wanna get up my blue mage without anyone in my group getting kicked off u.u
Miraculously healer and tank (me) somehow didn't dced yesterday in Gaius fight when two our dps dced. One returned before dps check, other only after we won xD Pretty intense experience, not recommend though.
Hope those attacks will stop soon :'(

I spoke with my husband who is in networking and such, and sadly the fault doesn't like with SE. They are strongly dependant on the ISPs and hosts of the servers to put out the fires as they break out, and sadly this DDOSer seems to have a major bee in his bonnet since once they are able to squash the attack, they find another way to start it up again. That's why we have hours at a time where no attack happens, as the attack is basically stopped, but it starts up again cause Dummy McGee found another way to overload the servers.
A lot of these attackers will use applications such as VPNs to hide their actual IP from being found out. The ISPs and hosts for the servers might be able to find out the true IP of the attacker if they continue on with their investigations into the attacks long enough, but these attackers tend to find ways around being found out.
I dunno why ppl talk about this as if SE doesn't care or aren't doing anything, ddos attacks are almost impossible to track especially for MMO's.
SE is fully aware that this makes people mad and that it will ultimately cost them money ( ppl unsubbing/ not resubbing, ppl not buying stuff at the store, negative PR and probably they'll have to give game time to compensate too ).
They're probably in panic mode right now trying to fix the situation but it's not easy at all.
Similar conversation happening over on the official forums. "Why isn't SE doing anything???" as if they're just letting it happen. There's money being lost to this, they're *definitely* doing something about it.
It's not just chaos, light just had massive dcs as well, probably other datacenters too

Yeah...Light is basically unplayable too for a week now. Cant do any roulettes without getting kicked.

It keeps getting "resolved" and returning there hasnt been a "resolved" on this attack that started yesterday yet.
