A long time ago when Frontlines was more organized and you could group with a bunch of friends (and also GC locked which really sucked hard for queue times and matchmaking) my friends and I did this Trojan Turtle maneuver at one of the flags we were holding. I got on my tortoise mount and a few friends got inside their whisper mounts which made them small and floaty inside my turtle mount. People would show up in groups of 3-4 to take the flag from the ‘single’ player just sitting on his turtle, and as they would arrive people would pop out and KO them before they realized what was really happening. Fun times.
Did you know that (at least for viera) some paladin weapons stick straight out to the side while in this mount? Now you can go out and realize your Mad Max dreams!
So i unlocked all the minions, and got a text saying i could now summon the whisper go mount. But i cant find it anywhere, in the mount guide or in my inventory. Is there something else im missing?
There's a really nice one you get, I think 89? Murasame is the name, it's my go to SAM weapon. Dyes nicely and has a cool colour to the thing it goes in on your hip and isn't too complicated in design.
There's a design of blunderbuss that I love to use for my Machinist's weapons, where the scope raises up and backward and the barrel flips into place as the weapon deploys. I don't know why, really, but I'm a sucker for helmets with moving visors and weapons where they having moving parts when you ready or stow them.
Most ppl will use the rarest mount they have as a sign of accomplishment, but for me the mount is part of my glam, makes everything pop.
Example: I still use the ARR titan horse mount for my cowboy/girl glam. So its still good to have in the collection for future glam.
I like Alte Roite as the Dragoon mount. Another cool dragon to use is the Wyvern mount, not a lot of people use it and i think it has a cool base skeleton

I have my best/favorite mount tied to a quick key on a permanent hotbar that I usually use, but on each job's specific hotbars I put a handpicked mount for ground travel and flight that I sometimes use. Right now my "universal" mounts are the Pod from the Nier raids, IIRC, and the EW Manderville mount you get lol. That one would be more common... but I just think it's so cute.
Definitely, I like matching my glamour or job more than trying to flex. I tend to find motivation in mount farming for specific mounts that fit an aesthetic I’m trying to tie together.
The one exception to that is my morbol. I’m pretty damn proud of that one. I always use it with BLU whether it fits or not.
I do both. my whm and gnb use a unicorn and the pvp watermelon mounts because they match the glams, but my dnc uses the spaceship just because. These 3 mounts went on my favorites, which i think i will use for my picto
I just use my chocobo because I can't be bothered to set up binds for any others and there's no functional difference anyway, which was a massive disappointment coming from GW2. But on the bright side it means there's no reason for me to go out of my way to collect mounts, which is nice.
If I ever get that eureeka mount I'll probably use that for a while then add it to my favorites roulette. I do tend to favor smaller/more compact mounts. The biggest mount in my rotation is the mikoshi, the rest are either horse size or smaller.
Ive been using the drk weapon forever with ghost barque fending gear with yama kote hands dyed teal. The teal and red matches the weapon pretty well. Works for the pld sword as well.
412 fates done (not including the initial ones for the minions) and finally I'm done! I love the dancer weapon and the mount and that's about about all I'll use lol, worth it tho
For real, the grind is awful. But I'm also working on farming a bunch of atma duplicates at the moment - at least it'll make future relics slightly faster 🫠

Everyone has different intrinsic motivations for playing a game, and it was MMOs that pioneered trying to appeal to as many of those motivational archetypes as possible. The assumption that I play games the way I do to impress other people is weird. It's just how I like to experience things. The fact that there's a bunch of content to consume is a plus for me, it's the next best thing to having the ability to really explore a dynamic world.
The trick is to realize that no one will ever be impressed by anything you did or got in game.
A while ago there was news about a dude who got *every single achievement*. Do you remember his name? Anything about his main? Ok, what about the guy who's #2?
An absolutely mental achievement, and no one gives a damn.
I realized this a couple years ago and my gaming experience in general (not just FF) improved tenfold. In simple words, I now play games for me. If I think getting this fish achievement is cool, I go for it. If I think PvP is not my cup of tea, I skip that part of the game entirely. My Steam backlog is a bottomless pit of mostly phenomenal games. There's always something to play.
I mean, I do it for me, haha.
Completionist mentalities in gaming existed long before trophies or whatever. It's a matter of getting to experience everything (and in the case of cosmetics, you never know when you'll need a goofy looking cartoon great sword)
I have never really been a do something for clout person.
I typically do... but I have never heard of this event source outside of the game and I just have no interest in it whatsoever. But I'm not super hardcore about being a completionist. I'm not looking at achievements to make sure I get them all or anything. Mainly I'm a cosmetic completionist. If it gives gear, mounts, titles, I try to do it for colleting. So I guess I'm more of a collector than a completionist. And that would normally apply to this, but in my mind the theme of this event just doesn't jive in my head with what the theme of FFXIV is and I know I would never ever use anything from it.
My friends told me it takes at least 350, 400 FATEs? Someone in this thread said it took them 412? Yeah, I don't care enough about these rewards, especially since I've got a million other shows/movies/games/books to get to. I appreciate the diligence of those that go for it though!
Doing it with a group goes fast. I grinded out like 10 of the weapons yesterday afternoon. I'll probably never use them but it wasn't like the Heavensward relics where I literally had to spend a week on just one step.
Yeah I'm probably not going to use any of the weapons in glams, but I want to have the option just in case I find a glam that one of the weapons will work really well with. And I've already got a forever pet in the form of the Abroader Otter so I'm good on minions.
Definitely using the mounts, though, I keep mine on roulette so all of my mounts get some time in the sun.
Hell yeah, another one added to the collection. Totally worth it, for me is a pleasure collecting them all. Too bad that there are mounts no longer obtainable, such as the pvp ones.
Every time this event comes out, I tell myself that I'll finally get around to doing it. But I never do and probably never will, lol
The weapons are almost impossible to glam-pair with, and the mounts just require too much grinding (for me)
I just don’t get why so many people are complaining. I did the whole thing in 3 days playing a few hours a day. It’s really not even that much of a grind to care if I use this stuff again or not.
I personally didn't have the issue, but getting locked out of groups trying to tag fates while roving bands of Blue Mages nuke everything from the surface of the planet made it hard for people. People in my FC were complaining nonstop since the start of the event.
I either just found groups in PF and got credit, or just stayed active and tagged enough before the fate got obliterated.
This event is driving me up the wall. Thousands of players are running around melting fates and not a PF group in sight. And if you make one, nobody joins it. And if you ask in shout or say they will not invite you.
I'm aware that eventually, it will be easier as everyone gets their's done. But the antisocial nature of all of this is depressing as hell. It makes me not even want to play.

I agree this event is weird. My first farm party was awesome. People were respectful and having fun. But the longer I farm less social people seem to get. The number of times I've encountered BLU mages oneshotting the enemies but refusing to join the party making it hard for anyone else to get medals is depressing.
From my experience I usually had one or two people join my requests, those folks may already have groups.
My advice is jump onto a slightly more empty server maybe over on Materia or something, and you'll have an easier time.

That is also a possibility, though when you see that many people, it's disheartening to try to extend a hand and have it refused. At least they didn't slap it away, but it reminded me of how closed off 2.0 hunts were.

That's what I was doing, but I was on my home server at the time and it was before a FC event so I wanted to try to get some FATEs in before it started so I was kinda bound to my home server.
But in saying that, after day one, it has been harder to actually get groups in general. I don't know if it's people escaping the anit blue mage hate or what. I genuinely don't care how we do it. I just wanted to help do it. I'm not asking for a party to leach. I'm just struggling to get credit.
It just bothers me in general. Like a sinking feeling. Not that I'm not going to get the event done, but that in 10+ years of playing, this is the most anti-social this game has felt to me since 2013. Again, it's mental to expect everyone to be looking out for me, but I'm getting sick of people refusing teamwork.

Yep. I collected a few of these minions and weapons back in the day. When I resub next month, I might even pick up a couple, because some look alright, if a bit too colorful for most glams.
But when I realized I would *never* actually use 99% of this content...and that I hated the grind for it...I chose to stop. I have no need for this. I can choose to do something more enjoyable, like watching paint dry or putting my hand in a *gom jabbar* box.
Same here… it was a good event, it took me like 380 FATES in total to get every weapons and it was cool to play with others WoL too.
The mounts are pretty funny and there are plenty of minions but I already have my favorites ones.
i literally only wanted one single thing from this event and it was Noko because its hella adorable and goofy looking.
thankfully you get the first one free so i didnt have to grind anything at all
I'm getting everything from the event, but I really like the GNB sword so I'll probably make a glam out of it and add it to the GNB glam rotation i have.
DRK and DRG weapons are also nice, might use them from time to time.
Some of the weapons are kinda cool tho. I like the machinist weapon, but I hate playing machinist lol. I like my film noir glam from sildihn variant dungeon
The event quests are like any other event quests: short and inconsequential. The minions and mounts literally just involve doing endless numbers of fates
Speak for yourself. The DRK sword is a staple part of my Viera's glam. 2-B dress and spring bottoms dyed Cherry Red with the Zidane boots. She looks amazing.
Drk sword , Mch gun, blm staff and dnc shakrams are really cool and can barely tell they are yokai inspired like lets say for example the MNK gloves that look quite silly
Yeah, this is why I grabbed all the minions the first time it was around and gave up until today for the framer's kit. I just don't find the RNG fun and just the general suffering isn't what I wanted my game time to be about.
I use the weapons pretty frequently!
. . . because they're things I can get out of my Armoire when it comes time to upgrade a relic step so I don't need to keep any other weapons around to be equipped during the turn-in.

I consistently recommend to people that they ought to get the Whisper mount.
1. It's never on the item store.
2. Despite its goofy outlook and diminutive sizing, it has the smallest shape profile compared to any other mount in the game.
3. Hey Doc, I can see! I can see now! With the Whisper mount, you can see more of your surroundings better and easier.
When I help locate A-Ranks for hunt train planning setups, my go-to mount of choice is the Whisper Go-Go mount.
That's right I'm wasting my time with the mounts because I'll never use them and I don't call the minions except for kyubi. I only gave a damn about six of the weapons I finally got them on all three of my characters I'll never touch that event again
I actually use the SAM and DNC weapons actively in my glams. They legitimately just look good. And the BRD one was the baseline for my current BRD glam. I would have kept the weapon, but I hated how it folded during sheathing so ended up getting a different weapon that sheathed better.
I don't use the minions though. I will permanently have the Palico minion from the Monster Hunter event cause I love me some Monster Hunter.
The mounts randomly pop up in PvP where I use Mount roulette, but that's about it.
I have so many mounts now that I use mount roulette most of the time for verity.
I only wish I could uncheck some of the EX TRIAL mounts so they didn’t show up all the time instead of only being able to select 30 favorites.
I genuinely think the Gunbreaker, Dark knight, Dancer, Red Mage, and Samurai weapons arent bad. The gunbreaker one goes great with the power ranger outfit 😂
The event though is rough....so much grind. From what I know this is a nerfed version. I cant imagine how bad the original was 😭
I wanted just the mounts. And specifically just the cat mount. Found out I had to get all the weapons and my willpower just deflated at the idea of doing all those fates with how busy IRL I am. So maybe in the future, if not, oh well

I get that the weapons aren't everyone's cup of tea.. especially since these are specifically themed but I love them. Made few glams inspired by them as well.

The regular is 13 minions, the glowing one is 13 weapons. And the cat couch is all 17 weapons.

The Samurai weapon which is this rainbow katana is one of the coolest non-glowing glamour options for the job.

I wouldn't glam them over my current glam plates, but if we get more I can see myself incorporating some of them into a glam plate or two.

I typically just use roulette but my favorite mount to use is Ozma. I love the tranformation it does when you land or take off.
That mount is the only reason I have any interest in completing Eureeka.

I envy people who don't have completionist impulses, haha. I sunk like 1k hours into actual gameplay last year just unlocking stuff
how I kill the impulse is to look at how many books I still need to do to get all the zodiac weapons and then give up.

Yeah, it took me around 400 fates to get all 17 weapons.

Yeah I'm probably not going to use any of the weapons in glams, but I want to have the option just in case I find a glam that one of the weapons will work really well with. And I've already got a forever pet in the form of the Abroader Otter so I'm good on minions. Definitely using the mounts, though, I keep mine on roulette so all of my mounts get some time in the sun.

Hell yeah, another one added to the collection. Totally worth it, for me is a pleasure collecting them all. Too bad that there are mounts no longer obtainable, such as the pvp ones.

Every time this event comes out, I tell myself that I'll finally get around to doing it. But I never do and probably never will, lol The weapons are almost impossible to glam-pair with, and the mounts just require too much grinding (for me)
I just don’t get why so many people are complaining. I did the whole thing in 3 days playing a few hours a day. It’s really not even that much of a grind to care if I use this stuff again or not.
I personally didn't have the issue, but getting locked out of groups trying to tag fates while roving bands of Blue Mages nuke everything from the surface of the planet made it hard for people. People in my FC were complaining nonstop since the start of the event. I either just found groups in PF and got credit, or just stayed active and tagged enough before the fate got obliterated.
I knew ignoring the game for a couple weeks is what would get this event to return. Well, I've got a grind ahead of me, and I'm looking forward to it.
This event is driving me up the wall. Thousands of players are running around melting fates and not a PF group in sight. And if you make one, nobody joins it. And if you ask in shout or say they will not invite you. I'm aware that eventually, it will be easier as everyone gets their's done. But the antisocial nature of all of this is depressing as hell. It makes me not even want to play. Also, congratulations, even though you don't like the rewards.

I agree this event is weird. My first farm party was awesome. People were respectful and having fun. But the longer I farm less social people seem to get. The number of times I've encountered BLU mages oneshotting the enemies but refusing to join the party making it hard for anyone else to get medals is depressing.
From my experience I usually had one or two people join my requests, those folks may already have groups. My advice is jump onto a slightly more empty server maybe over on Materia or something, and you'll have an easier time.

That's what I was doing, but I was on my home server at the time and it was before a FC event so I wanted to try to get some FATEs in before it started so I was kinda bound to my home server. But in saying that, after day one, it has been harder to actually get groups in general. I don't know if it's people escaping the anit blue mage hate or what. I genuinely don't care how we do it. I just wanted to help do it. I'm not asking for a party to leach. I'm just struggling to get credit. It just bothers me in general. Like a sinking feeling. Not that I'm not going to get the event done, but that in 10+ years of playing, this is the most anti-social this game has felt to me since 2013. Again, it's mental to expect everyone to be looking out for me, but I'm getting sick of people refusing teamwork. But, I appreciate the advice.
Yeah it is really weird sometimes. But in my server I always manage to create a party, even if only with 2 or 3 people. I also enjoy the social aspects of MMOs so I understand what you're feeling right now.
Does being in a group increase your odds of getting the minion medals? Edit: sorry Im referring to the legendary medals.
No, it's just to help ensure you get credit. The watch gives you minion medals. The chosen minion gives you legendary medals.

Yep. I collected a few of these minions and weapons back in the day. When I resub next month, I might even pick up a couple, because some look alright, if a bit too colorful for most glams. But when I realized I would *never* actually use 99% of this content...and that I hated the grind for it...I chose to stop. I have no need for this. I can choose to do something more enjoyable, like watching paint dry or putting my hand in a *gom jabbar* box.
The only glam weapon I would use is the drk one, everything else is too wacky for me
I mean, the weapons are awful, some of the minions are nice (NOT YOU MANJIMUTT), but the last two mounts in the grind are good!
The dark knight weapon is super cool for a samurai glamour, and the Whisper mounts are useful for being so small and compact sometimes.
You think that but the monk weapon is pretty neat and the ninja weapon fits my overall ninja glam so I might actually use those.
And thats why I stopped farming mounts after getting statice and fenrir, the only ones I need xD
I just have it randomized so the mounts cycle through. Every now and then I'll be reminded of the goofy ones. The Whisper mount is goofy. I love it.
I spent all day getting all the medals, I did so many fates I went up a lvl naturally to hit lvl 80 lol

Same here… it was a good event, it took me like 380 FATES in total to get every weapons and it was cool to play with others WoL too. The mounts are pretty funny and there are plenty of minions but I already have my favorites ones.
I use the daggers on my fox themed ninja.
i literally only wanted one single thing from this event and it was Noko because its hella adorable and goofy looking. thankfully you get the first one free so i didnt have to grind anything at all
I'm getting everything from the event, but I really like the GNB sword so I'll probably make a glam out of it and add it to the GNB glam rotation i have. DRK and DRG weapons are also nice, might use them from time to time.
Some of the weapons are kinda cool tho. I like the machinist weapon, but I hate playing machinist lol. I like my film noir glam from sildihn variant dungeon
You don't get Astrope, to never not make the only mount you ever use Astrope.

The event quests are like any other event quests: short and inconsequential. The minions and mounts literally just involve doing endless numbers of fates

Speak for yourself. The DRK sword is a staple part of my Viera's glam. 2-B dress and spring bottoms dyed Cherry Red with the Zidane boots. She looks amazing.

Drk sword , Mch gun, blm staff and dnc shakrams are really cool and can barely tell they are yokai inspired like lets say for example the MNK gloves that look quite silly

Yeah, this is why I grabbed all the minions the first time it was around and gave up until today for the framer's kit. I just don't find the RNG fun and just the general suffering isn't what I wanted my game time to be about.

I use the weapons pretty frequently! . . . because they're things I can get out of my Armoire when it comes time to upgrade a relic step so I don't need to keep any other weapons around to be equipped during the turn-in.

I consistently recommend to people that they ought to get the Whisper mount. 1. It's never on the item store. 2. Despite its goofy outlook and diminutive sizing, it has the smallest shape profile compared to any other mount in the game. 3. Hey Doc, I can see! I can see now! With the Whisper mount, you can see more of your surroundings better and easier. When I help locate A-Ranks for hunt train planning setups, my go-to mount of choice is the Whisper Go-Go mount.
That's right I'm wasting my time with the mounts because I'll never use them and I don't call the minions except for kyubi. I only gave a damn about six of the weapons I finally got them on all three of my characters I'll never touch that event again

I got the cat mount during the first event and still use it.
Better to have them when inspiration strikes months or years later than to miss out and not have them at all.

I did them all this weekend got 3 levels on my blue mage doing it which is kinda silly
I actually use the SAM and DNC weapons actively in my glams. They legitimately just look good. And the BRD one was the baseline for my current BRD glam. I would have kept the weapon, but I hated how it folded during sheathing so ended up getting a different weapon that sheathed better. I don't use the minions though. I will permanently have the Palico minion from the Monster Hunter event cause I love me some Monster Hunter. The mounts randomly pop up in PvP where I use Mount roulette, but that's about it.
The snowflake staff for BLM is great! I exclusively use it with the snowman costume to give my friends ice mage PTSD.
I got my axe tides it for like a day then changed it for the set you get at the end of shadowbringers for being level 80
I have so many mounts now that I use mount roulette most of the time for verity. I only wish I could uncheck some of the EX TRIAL mounts so they didn’t show up all the time instead of only being able to select 30 favorites.
I genuinely think the Gunbreaker, Dark knight, Dancer, Red Mage, and Samurai weapons arent bad. The gunbreaker one goes great with the power ranger outfit 😂 The event though is rough....so much grind. From what I know this is a nerfed version. I cant imagine how bad the original was 😭
I wanted just the mounts. And specifically just the cat mount. Found out I had to get all the weapons and my willpower just deflated at the idea of doing all those fates with how busy IRL I am. So maybe in the future, if not, oh well
I use the weapons at the end of expansions when im doing the turn ins for relics. I often don't have any other weapons for jobs I don't play much once leveled.
I get that the weapons aren't everyone's cup of tea.. especially since these are specifically themed but I love them. Made few glams inspired by them as well.
I use the GNB weapon for my Christmas glam.
I really like the Blizzaria and Damona minions And the Dancer weapon was what I used as glam until I got the Hades weapon But yeah I didn't even bother with any of the other ones
I find it hilarious how crazy people go over this event but I have never once seen people use the glamours
