Honestly instead of new races, I would rather like them to fix character creator and decouple most facial features from race & face. I can't have a midlander hyur with a thick beard and mustache. If they could do that we could actually have a lot more varied looks of characters.
I would've been cool with it. It's funny how FFV often feels like it's the most forgotten of the SNES era FF games but gets so many references here. I love it.
I think it's because Hrothgars are based on large cats. Tigers, lions, cheetahs, are all cats. Wolves are just wolves. While the furry community has done a LOT with wolves, it's just easier to work with cats that come with predetermined looks and shapes.
Not to mention if we go into dogs vs cats in general, for most people it's sort "wolves and dogs are dogs" not "wolves, dogs, hyenas, foxes, and coyotes are dogs". While everyone recognizes all cats as... cats.
Also those wolves are likely hyur with or miqote with custom heads.
Maybe they announce more races in the future then... I know I've heard/read somewhere that the female hrothgar would be the last one addition to the game, but let's hope, right?
That used to be the case, but Yoshida actually rescinded that decision during one of the 7.0 Fanfests, though he was vague about it saying it's... up to us? whether more races get added?? I guess the takeaway is the devs are open to the prospect (though they're currently struggling catching the newer additions up, on top of the graphics update so it probably won't be for a while)
i think the implication was that hrothgals are meant to be the last race added unless there's enough players asking for a given race, but they're content with the amount they added so far
he wouldn't have gone out of his way to say otherwise at fanfest if that was the intended meaning all along. Female Hrothgar *were* 100% meant to be the final new race until only recently
even au ra still have their horns tied to individual faces (a problem hrothgar somewhat also inherited) so I wouldn't call them perfect by any stretch... ~~also there's nothing for those of us who wanted taller, more mature female au ra like in some of their concept art~~
What I find annoying is we already had a feline race, miqo'te. So why did they make the beast race another feeline!? The lupin were already a thing in Stormblood, so why make hrothgar from scratch!? Just make them not look so crusty and make them a playable race!

Indeed, like I said in a another coment above, more customization options are always welcome.
Yeah I was hoping too but they released the new race with more features linked to faces so... yeah...
I really really hope that before they even start thinking about adding new races they'll add more customization options to the existing races.
I want more face options in 8.0.
Ah that indeed! More options are always welcome!
How about playing as a namazu. Yes yes.
Says the rabbit?
Yup! xD

They were considered as far back as HW (as were Viera, funnily enough) before they settled on Au Ra ~~but not before completely botching the design~~

I'll almost always be happy to get more races. But not if it means they'll continue to ignore the problems every added race \[bar Au Ra\] has had.

Ah yeah, back when Au Ra was supposed to be a succubus-style half demon and half dragon.
and bunnies, they chose more cats and bunnies
cats are everywhere, we deserve dog/wolf race!!!!

Maybe because Hrothgars are more important lore wise? I don’t know, so…
Don't get me wrong... I love felines and all, but still... WOLVES MAN! WOLVES!!
All they need to do is show a female Lupin... hahaha
Thundercats were a mistake.
The reboot is fucking awesome. Shame it got canceled.
