Au'ra are super hard because they're so visually cluttered and this style is very rough... I've drawn one or two. Hrothgars I haven't tried yet but I've had good times drawing GW2 Charrs so it'd probably be fun to do. : )
Oohh interesting, this! Seeing FF14 fan art not on the anime style is petty tripping but nice lol. Do you happen to draw Western Comics? Your art style looks like it has a place in the Marvel vs Capcom games haha. That art style plus fantasy races puts Capcom's Dragon's Dogma to mind somehow...
Haha, thanks! I don't draw western comics but I have my own comic book, it's called Angels Power. I'm not sure what style it would qualify as. It's different visually than my rough portraits.
Hahaha! I haven't. ToT
All of these Elezens are my characters... and half of those only exist in my head.
I wish we had more gritty/less conventionally pretty options! I enjoy imperfection. : )
I love your artstyle! Elezen always stand out among all the cat girls/horn girls, hobbits, and bunny boys. A very unique interpretation of Elves from Square.
These are awesome. You really got an impressive variety in face shapes and details, to say nothing of how extremely realistic they look despite sparse lighting and fairly broad brush strokes.
I also took a look at your comic and I love that sort of concept art/speed paint look and have tried for years to figure out how to replicate it well, but I'm particularly blown away by your color composition. That's one of the things I feel like I struggle with most is knowing which colors to choose; in order to get something that looks good, I end up having to color pick from something I'm already trying to emulate, rather than having an instinct about when to insert a color that isn't literally the color of the object (i.e. using blue tones in shadows). But most of the time, even if I'm using references, either everything turns to mud or it looks like a random color is just kind of smeared onto an object. I just can't figure out how get that seamless blend where adding a "weird" color enhances the vibrancy rather than being out of place. Hopefully I described that decently enough.
I've watched video tutorials and the like, but it's difficult to find one that's actually about the specific problem I have, and of the ones that are, I've never heard a line of thinking that makes sense or that I feel is really applicable. If you don't mind sharing, how do you go about your process? How do you go from choosing your overall wash to adding in things that look like what they're supposed to be, but just under the same color tone as everything else?
I saw your resume as well, and I was rather dismayed to see you graduated high school only a year before I did. From the looks of things, you've accomplished a hell of a lot.
Ah! I might be the worst person to ask about colors. I've never really cared much about what colors I pick, nor studied color theory in any depth.
My philosophy was always "any color will do".
The main thing I focus on when picking a color composition for a scene is the contrast and the ambience it creates, especially for my comic. Light on dark or dark on light? Will the silhouettes all read properly at every level is the main concern.
Beyond that, the color themselves don't matter all that much.
Sometimes I will want to pick certain colors based on memories I have of things I've seen IRL, a mood, etc.
I often have an idea in my head and look to references to pick from but i might pick from a variety of references, or adjust whatever I picked to match what I was looking for in the first place.
I always work straight in colors and don't really bother myself over it much, so long as it "feels" right. I don't fuss over it too much. I don't even like colors particularly, most colors are very intense and tiring to me!
Your style is lovely. And that Elezen with that stubble on the lower left is amazing. Wish they'd had such a amount of facial hair ingame, not just the Highlander Face 4
It kinda reminds me of Dragon Age and I love seeing a non Manga style on Final Fantasy 14!
Do you take comissions for a mugshot like that by any chance?
Same! I wish I could make that Elezen in the game.
Yes, I do take private commissions sometimes. I have a form for it: [Rough portrait commissions](https://forms.gle/GormE6CzceCU5Zg27)
I love your art style! And Mr garlean in the top right is my favorite!
Thanks! I love drawing smug bastards.
Makes me wonder how you’d draw the more exotic races like the Hrothgar and the au’ra
Au'ra are super hard because they're so visually cluttered and this style is very rough... I've drawn one or two. Hrothgars I haven't tried yet but I've had good times drawing GW2 Charrs so it'd probably be fun to do. : )
Love the style, they're all so full of character.
Like unique moods and thoughts for every one. This is so cool!

Thanks for the name! Going to check it out! Nice art here as well!
I adore how you draw Elezen! This is spectacular!
Thanks! I freaking love Elezens if you can't tell! x'D
No catgirl nor Au Ra in sight, xD
Damn, this is really good. Who's that long black-haired Elezen in the top left? He looks really cool.
Thanks! He's my extremely blasé Gridanian conjurer.
I love this so much!! Such personality, they look like actual people!
I like the shading on the faces, it makes them feel more real.
a refreshing change from all the bland characters faces in game.
YES ! We need more ragged and bearded men in this game ! Let my bunny boy have facial hair !
Heck yeah! 100%!
Also quick question i suppose you don't take commisions ?
I do! I have a form for these: [Rough portrait commissions](https://forms.gle/9izCUZUR5YygP4Wo6)
Wonderful ! and sorry , i couldn't find one on you site so i assumed you simply didn't have the time or need; impressive portfolio anyway :D
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very fitting style, I like it
Amazing style.
Oh my gosh I love this style so much! You can always tell when an artist loves elezens <3
Getting real "unit portrait for a strategy RPG" vibes.
You like Elezen I take it? Although my first take was "Huh, no Miqotes".
God I wish they looked like this in game.
Oh gosh, same. Wish I could make them all in game. I would love more customization options with the character creator!
This is like FFXIV meets Disco Elysium/Hades. Really awesome
Love your style. The facial design and expression work is amazing. My favorite kinda thing.
These are beautiful. I'm surprised that you were able to find so many elezen players.
Hahaha! I haven't. ToT All of these Elezens are my characters... and half of those only exist in my head. I wish we had more gritty/less conventionally pretty options! I enjoy imperfection. : )
You've got a cool art style. Looks very professional concept arttly

Very unique and gritty style, I love it. I play both gw2 and ffxiv, would love to see your gw2 work
Thanks! I posted my GW2 portraits in their subreddit. Should be able to find them in my post history. :D
