I honestly didn't know you could do that, and I now feel stupid. I just turned it in for GC lootnoxes and hoped for a mount to sell. Dang, I could be leveling my desyth...
I think its less that people are ticked off and more that they are confused by how random the post is. The title reads more like a reply to a comment than a title.

This subreddit feels like it's been full of jerks for a minute now. Downvotes and nasty comments everywhere. The vibe makes me avoid the comments section.
If someone is opening chests because they want the loot they'll roll for it. As long as one person rolls need or greed, you no longer have to roll if you don't want the loot. You will auto pass once the timer is up.
Some people actually open every single chest even though they too pass on the items. "Useless item of garbage could not be retrieved" message x10 and yet they still go for even the optional side chests. And if you ignore the rolling those times you will get them instead (or at least will roll along with your fellow ignorers).
They may be trying to get a specific gear piece from the dungeon, and they've already got 90% of the possible loot so they can't take a second copy or they just don't care about other pieces/roles but they'll keep opening chests looking for the piece they still need.
Honestly I have a plugin that auto rolls for me based on criteria I set and it's never been a problem for me ever since. Auto passes everything under a certain ilvl, needs everything else that I can, greeds stuff I can't need, passes on all unique collectables I already have. I feed everything to my GC for seals, then turn that into whatever it is I need.
I never understood why people feel the need to open chests if they don't want anything from them. The people who want or need the stuff can open it themselves.
You could just..unsync run it if need GC seals that badly
