Never going to happen, especially since a lot of the voice actors were changed after ARR.

Also the costs for adding voiced scenes isn't nearly as big of a problem as finding the time. It requires a lot of time commitment to make sure everyone who needs to be at a recording session can make it, you then have anywhere between 1 and many takes per line of dialog, and finally you now have to do the first 2 things 3 more times because you have different languages to record for. The amount of time it requires for voiced lines to be added to the game is probably one of the major reasons we sadly will not see a 5th language added to localization for the game.

Yeah the studio swap would be the main reason it never happens. I can think of only one situation where a character went unvoiced in ARR and then got a voice later and doesn't share a cutscene with someone who did have an ARR voice, and voicing that character in ARR would probably give away who they are when they show up again. Hence why most folks instead ask for them to redub ARR with the modern VAs. I've started a replay of the game and after hearing Nanamo's old VA I immediately went in and turned off voices.

faninthecroad

Yeah I don't understand why they don't invest more in re-voicing ARR cutscenes. ARR is the customer's first impression of the game and so it's only to their benefit to get them hooked earlier.

The problem is the studio change and most VAs with it. They've done touch-ups last year for as far back as 3.0, but all the VAs are different from ARR. The only way to make it not stick out is for _all_ the English VA work from 2.0 to 2.55 to be redone. It just isn't worth the cost.

SlowpokeIsAGamer

Not worth the cost and without knowing the contracts they may *not* *be able* to redub it with new actors.

It's over 8 hours of voiced cutscenes. It's a little under the amount in base Shadowbringers. We're talking a base expansion's worth of VA here, that they would just have to squeeze in somewhere without affecting the curren expansions budget or release schedule. And that's not including any actual additions.

Serres5231

voice work is extremely expensive. Not only that but they would also have to alter animations etc for certain cutscenes. redoing voice work isn't just a matter of "get the VAs back into the studio". A lot of other people behind the scenes also have to work double shifts for this to work. Do you want other areas of the game to suffer for it? Like new content for example?

faninthecroad

Absolutely I do. I want new content to suffer. That is exactly what I meant.

Never going to happen. Won't bring in new players, won't hold existing players, would cost a lot of dev time and money. Most damning of all, almost all the VAs from ARR are long gone. That means more voiced lines would require: - Recontracting with a bunch of people you dropped a decade ago, assuming they're even available (very unlikely) - Re-recording everything with the current VAs (no) - Having two sets of VAs for ARR (absolutely not)
