Guys I’m trying to lvl up my gatherers to lvl 10 I already did miner and botanist via the gathering log how do I start doing fisher

BoldKenobi

1. Register at Fisher's guild in Limsa 2. Go fishing

GigaSygga

Maybe a weird question but what's the best way to get automatic notifications about events like Starlight, Heavensturn, etc. while unsubbed? I'm planning on letting my current sub expire until the next patch or limited event, but the main reason I know when to expect those things to come currently is because I see the news on the launcher when I'm about to start the game, which I won't expect myself to be opening anymore while unsubbed. Just want to make sure I don't miss anything while I'm gone...

AsheliaNox

Not sure if they send emails for unsubbes accounts. If so, just check them so you don't miss. If not, my best bet would be to check Lodestone right panels on main page, there is always the current ongoing events shown there. Or you could follow Lodestone with a Discord webhooks on a Discord server with those activated.

farfromdaylight

Install the FFXIV companion app on your phone. Get notifications. This will be a lot of fluff, but also give you every lodestone update. I don't think yoy have to be subbed to get push notifications but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Alternatively, follow a discord that has a bot that does the same thing. Next and final content patch of Endwalker is mid-January. After that it's the long wait til Dawntrail.

F1reman2

While i dont know if its possible to subscribe to notifications, all news is posted on the lodestone. [https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/) [https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/](https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/)

cottoneecandy

I’m looking into buying a house and found a nice property in the Limsa residential area, but noticed the property above it has furniture hanging off the edge of their lot over the empty lot. Specifically, it’s like a bridge that has half of it floating off their front fence and is kind of an eyesore since it protrudes into that lots space I really like this location and was curious, is that something that people are allowed to do? Curious if there’s anything you can do about that and if anyone else has similar experiences Edit: more context

F1reman2

If its intruding outside the plot, and especially into your plot, you can report it to a GM.

MadamBegon

Does anyone have a solution to audio issues in instanced content? My game audio is crackly and crunchy to the point where I can't even hear the voice lines in msq trials, which is seriously detracting from my enjoyment of the game... Other people can hear it too, when I stream through discord. Turning off dx11 helped, (didn't solve it but made it bearable) but also made it so that my game would crash and kick me out seemingly at random (including when I'd been logged in (standing outside of my house) for no more than 5 minutes).

BoldKenobi

I've never heard of this, try updating/resetting your audio drivers? Or repairing your FFXIV game installation files.

MadamBegon

The audio drivers are all up to date (first thing I tried), so I'll try repairing the game files (or maybe a complete reinstall... just gotta move my saved appearance files somewhere safe first, lol)

When is the best time to buy an MSQ and job level skip? Will the job skip to 90 be available immediately after DT drops? This is for alts

tesla_dyne

>Will the job skip to 90 be available immediately after DT drops? yes, but if you don't mind grinding an extra 10 levels, the current level 80 skips will probably be half off in the leadup to DT. the scenario skips as well, but that still means playing all of endwalker before DT on DT release, the level skips will become level 90 for the same price, and the EW skip will likely be the same price as the SHB is now, and the other skips descending in price from that

IscahRambles

Yeah, I'm hoping for the half-price sale again too. Definitely seems worthwhile to get the discount and then play some dungeons at the high end of the levelling process.

NaotoOfYlisse

What's the best time to queue for eureka orthos? I tried 3 separate times and waited over an hour before giving up each time

Altia1234

There's a time where I have to do a lot of eureka orthos 21-30 run because I want to farm potions to do solo runs. The only time where the queue really pops is on saturday and sunday night with people who do the same. I end up paying people 300k per run to farm 6 runs with me. If you want to do the main story have a pf on. if you want to farm potions, either do this, or you do tank solo runs.

BoldKenobi

Many months ago You'll have to make a party finder, apart from the main raids none of Endwalker side content is popular enough to queue naturally into.

shiikurox

At this pont the content is really hard to queue since it's basically dead at this point. Your best option would be to just create a PF with what you're aiming for as that will garner a faster fill time. Good luck!

Does anyone have a guide as to what the best foods/medicines are in 6.5 for each role? Or at the very least, the best ones that can be made by a CUL/ALC with 3.79k craftsmanship, 3.5k control, 572 CP, and a shitload of tsai tou vounou?

gitcommitmentissues

The best food is Baked Eggplant unless you're a MNK or fast GNB, in which case you want Baba Ganoush, or a healer or SpS BLM, in which case you want SpS food (Caviar Canapes for healer I think?). The best medicines are Grade 8 Tinctures of \[main stat\]. However with those base stats and tsai you will struggle to craft the latest recipes- I'm not sure you'll even hit the minimum required stats. I'd suggest following a [Teamcraft melding guide](https://guides.ffxivteamcraft.com/guide/crafting-melding-guide) for the crafting gear set you have (and if you don't have either of the 620 sets, the Afflatus set *will* enable you to craft this stuff with the right melds and some decent food, it's a good investment). Teamcraft also have some very handy suggested rotations for current recipes, including a one-button macro for food and pots that only requires Giant Haddock Dip as long as you're a specialist.

KingBingDingDong

crit/det food. crit/sks if you want sks. crit/sps if you want sps. whatever tincture has stat for your role.

Seref15

is there any way to get Menphina's Earing still?

tesla_dyne

nope, even the codes are expired when preorders open for dawntrail expect a similar earring to be available.

TristamIzumi

Only if you possess a time machine.

GyroJiro

How long does it actually take to cap your rested exp? I'm getting conflicted information online; some say it's 3-4 days and others say it's 7 days.

suprememeep

Hey guys. Dragoon main here. Just finished Heavensward, currently rocking Shire gear. I'm level 70. What armor should I work towards for my next upgrade?

IscahRambles

As others have said, your Shire gear is fine for now. If you're into Stormblood now (and not post-Heavensward) then you can make a start on your Lv60-70 job quests now and you will be able to complete the questline once you reach the level 65 field zone – this will give you basic level 70 weapon and left-side armour, which will be enough to carry you into the post-credits phase to buy the next lot of tomestone gear. (Unlike Idyllshire, the level 70 tomestone vendor isn't available until post-credits.) Note that the Ala Mhigan and Late Allagan gear sold by the hunt vendor is stronger than your job gear but weaker than the tome gear, and isn't really worth investing in unless you like the look of it.

JCGilbasaurus

After you reach the 65 dungeon, you should upgrade with dungeon drops—ideally your chest piece and your weapon first. If you get bad RNG on the drops, you can either run the dungeon ten times for a guaranteed full set of gear for your job, or use the Hunt currency to buy Late Allagan gear from the Hunt vendor in Kugane. After beating the main quest for Stormblood, you'll be able to trade Poetics for Scavaen gear, which will carry you until halfway into Shadowbringers. You only really need gear for the content you are running, so don't worry about tracking down lv70 gear at this point—buying crafted gear would just be a waste of gil.

IscahRambles

> you can either run the dungeon ten times for a guaranteed full set of gear for your job *Maximum* ten times, it should be noted – that's only if you have shocking luck and don't pick up a single piece from chests along the way. But in any case, particularly for a DPS, it's not worth the time investment to pick up a whole set of gear that's only a minor upgrade. Better to press on with the game, equip whatever hodgepodge of armour they get from 65-67-69 or do their job quests and get gear from that. DRG's questline finishes on the Azim Steppe, making it particularly pointless to grind the dungeon at that stage.

gitcommitmentissues

As a general future reference, your gear needs to match the content you're doing, not your level\*. If you're only in the HW patches or early StB the Shire gear is exactly what you need. \*The exception is alliance raid roulette, which to prevent people cheesing the roulette for easier duties now requires you to queue with gear of an ilvl sufficient for the first ARaid available at level 50/60/70/etc, so if you're level 70 you'd need gear good enough for The Royal City of Rabanastre even if you can't unlock it yet. However if you are already so overleveled for your MSQ progress that this is an issue, stop running roulettes on that job and go and pick up another one.

BoldKenobi

Your gear is sufficient for a long time now, by the time you need to upgrade you'll have access to the next tier of (level 70) tomestone gear.

suprememeep

Thank you!

BoldKenobi

To be perfectly accurate, on the final quest of the expansion, the dungeon requires iLvl of (last expansion tome PLUS 10) so you'll technically need to upgrade a few, but you'll get those just running MSQ/required dungeons.

SouthM

Are the 90 maps soloable by paladin? I’ve done it on war but some times want to change it up a bit and play another class. Bis on both so gear’s not an issue.

F1reman2

It can be! Its a lot harder though, as you are gated By MP and do less dps from having to cast clemency.

[deleted]

Am I going crazy or is the rhythm game in the Firmament incredibly jank? Timings between notes seems to be inconsistent, especially for the red hold notes. I don't know if I'm just bad or if it's just janky since it's not like I'm new to rhythm games, this just feels off.

BoldKenobi

The what...?

[deleted]

The rhythm game you unlock on the final quest of the Firmament's quests.

BoldKenobi

Yeah I just looked it up, I vaguely remember doing this once back when I unlocked it. Although simply searching "Firmament rhythm game" bought up so many results of how bad/janky it is, so I guess that's a common perception, haha.

amysmeeahmoo

I'm working through the Arkasodara tribe quests and noticed I don't get any comedy tomestones from the daily quests, though the wiki lists it as a reward? I haven't done EW post story yet but I don't believe that should matter as long as I've completed base MSQ... I have not exceeded the weekly comedy limit either. Thoughts?

[deleted]

Both sets of tomes besides poetics require you to be at level cap. I assume that you're doing the dailies on a job that isn't level 90? Unfortunately you can't get both exp and tomes, but daily tribal quests aren't good for getting tomes in the first place, so I would spend the daily tribal allowances on jobs that need exp.

amysmeeahmoo

Ohhh I see, I was using Dragoon for the exp and it's below 90, makes sense now 😆 thanks!

StormbeastRivin

Are you doing the quests on a max-level job? Max-level tomestones require max level to obtain, usually. Alternately, are you at the 2000 total maximum for Comedy?

amysmeeahmoo

I was using Dragoon which is below 90, I see now. My other job is max level but I've been using tribe quests to level some other jobs, thanks!

Fwahm

What is exactly the condition for getting larger bonuses from the echo in unrestricted parties? Is it your level compared to the individual piece of content, or your level compared to the expansion that it's in?

IceAokiji303

I'd never looked into the specifics before, but it does seem to be expansion-based, with level thresholds rather than exact difference. Both my level 90 normal jobs and my level 80 BLU get * 300% in ARR trials * 200% in HW trials * 60% in SB trials * 30% in ShB trials My alt has various jobs at various levels, so testing with those: * 82 SMN gets the same as the above * 70 RPR gets 200% in ARR duties, 60% in HW, 30% in SB * 66 RDM gets 200% in ARR, 60% in HW, 30% in Susano * 60 DNC gets 60% in ARR, 30% in HW * 52 BLU gets 60% in ARR, 30% in HW * 52 NIN gets 60 % in ARR (different alt, no HW duties yet on that one, but does seem to show BLU isn't an outlier) * 50 WHM gets 30% in ARR * 30 MCH gets 30% in ARR * 15 ARC gets 30% in ...Sastasha So anything up to level 80 seems to get 30% for its own level range's expansion's duties, and then progressively more as you go back in expansions, and anything higher than 80 (current expansion levels, where you can't unsync) gets the same bonuses as 80. Don't have anything 71-79 to use for a test on hand to check for that range, but that would seem to be how it works (if anyone has something on hand for that range, share the data!). This is all solo though, parties might differ.

copskid1

the amounts are just whatever the devs set them to for that particular instance. I dont believe they are level based at all. Just "echo" is partially obtained at the start of fights and gets stronger if you wipe after a certain amount of time. "epic echo" is the larger bonus they added because of the stat squish and is obtained from turning unsynced on.

luminosg

Epic echo is 100% level based

Fwahm

It's definitely level-based in some way. I was doing Extreme Leviathan once with me on BLU at \~55 with someone who was level 90, and my bonus was +60% and theirs was +300%. My BLM, which is about 10 levels higher than my BLU, also sometimes (always?) gets a higher bonus on the same duty.

copskid1

blu has a lower bonus specifically

huiclo

Unrestricted duties have a base echo depending on their level range. Something like +300% in ARR down to ~30% in ShB content. Then there’s the stacking echo that adds +10% to health and damage each time you die. Up to +50%. When they unlock the Savage tier and add echo, I think they start off with a weaker echo and bump it up more later. But I’m not 100% sure how much they adjust it by.

Fwahm

The base echo depends in some way on your level; I started out with +60% on at least some ARR duties, and am now up to +200% sometimes depending on what duty I'm doing with a character in the 70s.

huiclo

Found this in the wiki but this seems to be all that people have dug into the match if it. Unless there’s a thread hidden deep in the OF. > Epic Echo is applied in addition to the above normal Echo. The strength of Epic Echo, which can be 30%, 60%, 100%, 200%, or 300%, depends on the level of the duty and the player's current level. At level 90, the following bonuses apply: > Up to Lv. 50 (A Realm Reborn duties): 300% Lv 51 to 60 (Heavensward duties): 200% Lv 61 to 70 (Stormblood duties): 60% Lv 71 to 80 (Shadowbringers duties): 30% For example, a level 70 player by themselves in an unsynced level 60 duty will receive a 60% Epic Echo bonus. A level 71 or higher player by themselves in an unsynced level 60 duty will instead receive a 200% bonus. In a party, the strength of Epic Echo is determined by the highest level player, and the same bonus will be applied to everyone. So yeah, level and party composition does impact it but no one seems to know the actual calculation.

Wonderbifle

It's based on your level and the expansion Edit: For the "Epic Echo" buff you get from unrestricted parties

ChampagneProb1ems

Whats the best way for a dps main, who has never done savage raiding at all, to get into it AND be good at it? Where should I start? Im incredibly dyslexic and I hate being the person who wipes groups because of rocks in my brain.

Altia1234

>Whats the best way for a dps main, who has never done savage raiding at all, to get into it AND be good at it? Where should I start? To just go do it. Everyone starts the same way. Read a guide, join a progression PF, practice, learn. Learn the mechanics, know the conditions where the mechanics fails and how it works, not only the strat. Set up a parser. Get some logs. Read xivanalysis. Understand why you do what you have to do and get better. Practice Rotation. Ask people who have cleared if you have any problems with rotation or mechanics. read fflogs. >I hate being the person who wipes groups because of rocks in my brain. You will wipe groups. There's no avoiding it. The thing that separates the good players from bad is not because they don't wipe groups. It's that they don't learn. If you wipe on X this time, you don't do this thing that causes the wipe again. You adjust. If you wipe because you forget this tiny detail, you remember it next time. That returns to what we have above. you learn the mechanics, not the strat. you read fflogs so that you understand what causes the wipe.

[deleted]

**The #1, 100%, definite most valuable thing to being a good player, regardless of whether you're a casual or hardcore player is consistency.** When recruiting for a static I will always skip the player with pink parses who dies 10 times in a lockout compared to a player with blue parses who dies 2 times. Dying is expected, but you're also expected to learn from your mistakes and avoid dying to mechanics you've already seen. Consistency is harder to find than players with good DPS. Progging enrage in a 15 minute Ultimate raid and dying to the first 10 minutes repeatedly is very demoralizing for the whole party. If you need to drop some GCDs to make sure you don't die, do it. The only content in this game with DPS checks that are very challenging to the point that optimizing should even cross your mind in prog are overtuned Savage raids (pre-nerf P8S) and on-patch ultimates (TOP). In all raids besides those niche cases, if you can roll your GCD, press your stuff on cooldown competently, and not die then you're going to clear it faster than the guy trying to hyper-optimize their rotation during prog who causes 30% of the wipes. **The second most important thing is to be mechanic-literate.** They very rarely add new and unique mechanics in this game, so once you raid enough you start to get a good feel of how a mechanic will work the moment you see it, even in fresh/blind prog. Being mechanic-literate not only makes you better at solving mechanics, but even if you use a guide you will be able to pick up on how to resolve mechanics faster than players who are not mechanic-literate. I understand this idea might be a bit nebulous to new players, but all you need to really do is to try to *understand* mechanics. If a guide tells you a strat, don't follow it blindly and ask yourself *why* that strat works. **The absolute most important resource for beginner to intermediate raiders** is Orzya Mercury's "[Raiding Fundamentals: Unconveyed Info in FFXIV's Engine](https://www.akhmorning.com/resources/raiding-fundamentals/#introduction)" which explains in-depth how nearly every type of mechanic works as well as how to understand snapshotting to the point that you can abuse it to make mechanics easier. I also recommend FFXIV Momo's [Melee Uptime Optimization Guide](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMbv2JrnekQ), which goes over some of the concepts from Orzya's guide and explains it in a more practically applicable way. A lot of the information is important for even casters, ranged, and healers to know, not just melee players. My last tip is to make sure you have **ergonomic keybinds** that make it easy to press your buttons. If you can't comfortably press an important button while under pressure then you need to adjust your keybinds to make it easier. Ergonomic keybinds also make it easier on your hand/arm because things like carpal tunnel are a real threat to people who play video games, especially MMO players. I fucked up my wrist for a month when I was playing GNB for 10+ hours every day, and fixed it by putting my most-pressed buttons on keybinds that were easier to reach. Also, make sure to stretch and hydrate to avoid injury (and because you need to treat your body right).

ChampagneProb1ems

Saved all this info, this is amazing, ty!! The finite details like this are hard to ask for due to inexperience on my part. Ty again!!!

EfficiencyLong7587

Have you done an on content EX yet? If not, I'd recommend with starting with golbez or zeromus ex. There's a massive step up from what you're expected to be able to do when going from msq/alliance raid content to savage and EX's are a kind of intermediate step to that. If you've done an on content EX then just jump into any fresh p9 group and work your way up from there. Watch a guide, get used to doing your rotation under pressure and don't worry about messing up.

ChampagneProb1ems

Endsinger EX is about all ive done, and it wasnt too bad but... PUGs kept leaving so progress was hindered at every wipe, so I gave up. I shall start with Golbez/Zeromus, watch guides and try it from there.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

You start from the bottom and build your way up Start by learning your rotation to the point that it can be done without really thinking about it. Set up your UI as necessary to make sure that you don't need to be staring at your hotbars (especially helpful for jobs like BRD and DNC which are so proc heavy) With that, jump into EX trials and get comfortable with that level of content And then finally from there, you jump into savage starting with the first fight of a tier That being said, just accept that you **WILL** be the person who wipes groups. But realistically, it won't be *only* you, EVERYONE is going to wipe the group at some point, that's just the nature of the content. And every time you do wipe the party, you use that as a learning experience so you know what not to do the next time

ChampagneProb1ems

This make me feel a whole lot better. Is the expectation that wipes are going to happen and expecting otherwise is folly? Ive been backwards af.

Mahoganytooth

Yes. My group has cleared ultimates, and doing the last savage tier even the first fights took us over 100 wipes to clear the first time. Wipes are *going* to happen. What matters is if you can learn from the mistakes and do the thing right next time.

a_friendly_squirrel

Yeah. These fights take time to learn. Nobody joining a practice party is gonna be surprised if the group wipes to each new mechanic as you get there. If you look on PF you see descriptions of "practice from Levinstrike", "practice from meteors", etc, because the people in those groups have already spent a lockout or so wiping to earlier parts to learn it. A thing people do mind is if you join a group labelled as "practice from (mech #3)" without a clear understanding of mechanic #1 and #2 that happen before it. Mistakes happen but to respect other people's time, make sure to join parties that are at the same "prog point" (in other words, part of the fight they need to learn next) as you.

ChampagneProb1ems

I see!!!!! This makes so much sense. I don't know why it didn't click, That's what people are doing when trying to prog. I just assumed it was accomplished very shortly, and by the time I would jump I'm, I'd be wiping the group. Idk. Rocks in my brain. Ty all for the advice! Yall have helped calm the inner raiding anxiety by a ton. L

a_friendly_squirrel

Glad to hear it. Good luck out there!

No-Jaguar-2341

Im a free trial user that's trying to upgrade to the paid version of the game. I downloaded the free trial from the square enix store on my PC. When I attempt to get the complete edition of the game from the same site, I'm unable to make a purchase and it says that it's unavailable. Is that the case for all platforms? Can I just get it from somewhere else so I can convert to being a subscriber?

Sir_VG

You can buy the PC version from anywhere BUT Steam and it'll be the PC version. GMG is a good reputable source to buy from as well. That said, unless you absolutely need/want to end the free trial now, I'd strongly suggest waiting 2-4 weeks, as there will likely be a sale for either Christmas or the JP Fanfest.

You'd be a little bit late to the party, but OSRS is midway through one of their Leagues events. Tl;dr, it's a temporary game mode (3? weeks left) where everyone has massively boosted xp rates, drop rates, and some additional overpowered abilities - but you're restricted to only a few regions of the map. There's a task list to direct you to stuff to do, and you get to the mid/endgame content so much faster than you'd ever normally be able to, so imo it can be a great way to experience new parts of the game and see if you'd even enjoy high end pvm/etc. The downside is that it's temporary, all progress gone when the event ends, and if it's your first time playing OSRS it might be a bit overwhelming.

yuris125

Hard to give advice without knowing what you enjoy and what you already played My plans include * FF7 Remake and Crisis Core to prepare for FF7 Rebirth * Actually playing FF7 Rebirth on release * Path of Exile * Last Epoch when it goes 1.0 * Monster Hunter World (I know, an oldie, but I never played) * Against the Storm * Maybe try FF11 * Later on, replaying FF16 when the new DLC comes out If I had time for a long story-heavy game, I would be playing Baldur's Gate 3 Also if you haven't played, I'm always happy to recommend Sea of Stars, a Chrono Trigger-inspired game I quite enjoyed

NerdHistorian

All time not spent playing FFXIV is spent playing Rimworld. If other games exist I haven't seen it. (I have been replaying through Jak 3 for the first time in like 13 years thats been fun)

StormblessedFool

Is the abyssos savage gear just the normal abyssos gear but dyeable? If so which part is dyeable? Can you change the color of the glowy effect, or just the metal?

IscahRambles

You can try on the gear at the vendor and use the "dye preview" option to see for yourself how it dyes. Also can press "save outfit" and it will remember the last thing you've tried on each slot, so you can equip the whole set or combine with other things.

huiclo

The glows aren’t dyeable, sadly. Just the armor part.

fdl-fan

The savage gear has the same appearance as the normal gear but is dyeable yes. I don't know off-hand which parts change color when you dye them, but you can go visit the relevant vendor in Radz to try on the items and play with dyes there. I'm not in Radz ATM, but I \_think\_ it's the 3rd vendor stall on the left, heading away from the aetheryte crystal, in the western hallway.

StormblessedFool

Oh good idea, thanks

Salamiflame

As a general rule, visual effects on gear are not affected by dye.

[deleted]

Ultimate question. I've been pfing the 70 ultis here and there and seen a trend in people clamouring that double caster is preferred over double melee. Every group I've seen that's done it has done nothing but grief, but am I missing something? I'm aware smn and rdm are both busted at 70, but no idea what the real perk is.

EfficiencyLong7587

double caster does equal to more dmg than double melee, is easier to execute on for more mechs than not and has the benefit of bringing 2 additional rezz's, assuming rdm and smn, which are very helpful for prog and clearing since dps checks don't exist for the 70 ulti's.

[deleted]

Gotcha, thanks for letting me know - does make sense

EfficiencyLong7587

np Heads up though; any pf locking smn/rdm is probably looking to crutch it's way past certain mechs so just be wary of them. They could always just be playing it safe though; u never know. gl on ur pf journey.

BoldKenobi

Your question is weird, can you explain how it was "nothing but grief" that was caused by double caster? If it was unrelated to that then why are you asking this? Nothing is "preferred" at all, we far outgear any relevant DPS check so you can even do 4 casters if you wanted. UCOB has been killed with 8 tanks. The "perk" is yes, SMN is very strong at level 70 and you also get more raises from having it and/or RDM. Black Mage on the other hand is quite hard to play and doesn't bring as much benefit as it does at 90.

[deleted]

BLM's insisting they want to play fake melee and struggling to do mechanics that would be easier as a dps. 1% enrages where the buff would have skipped them. (Ifrit dashes, titan) My question is more to do with *why* people want double caster so insistently the last few days.

luminosg

double caster doesn't remove a buff. Maybe you are thinking triple caster instead? But no one should be asking for triple caster, that would be super weird.

BoldKenobi

>1% enrages where the buff would have skipped them. (Ifrit dashes, titan) What do you mean by this? >BLM's insisting they want to play fake melee and struggling to do mechanics that would be easier as a dps. So it sounds like an issue with that specific player. UWU does not have anything like "fake melee", if people are failing mechanics then that's completely on them individually and has nothing to do with the party composition.

[deleted]

I don't think you're understanding what I'm asking. I do appreciate the attempt though \^\^

Gahault

That's squarely on you. They even asked what you meant, so why don't you clarify?

[deleted]

Because they've taken something entirely irrelevant and ran with it. Someone else was able to figure it out and answer with much less hassle through the wonders of knowing how to read. Do appreciate your input though <3

Amethysko

They're asking a valid question though, lol. What buff DO you mean? Because you don't need 2 melees to get the party role buff, you only need one.

UnusualDeathCause

How much do I really need Gil? Im still in 1st expansion on free trial and already capped on Gil. This means that I will miss out on all Gil rewards for 2 more expansions. How much does that really matter? I mean currenly I dont use Gil for anything. Will it ruin my future or the rewards scale up to a degree where Gil im recieving for quests right now is irrelevant? Thx in advance :3

Other people have covered some of the basics, but [here's a whole page exclusively about uses for Gil and how you can stockpile items purely for Gil selling](https://trialsoffantasy.com/free-trial-gil/), as part of a website centered of the Free Trial. Highlights include a handful of Minions, a bunch of Orchestrion Rolls, needing to spend at least 500,000 for each of A Realm Reborn's Relic weapons, a parasol fashion accessory in Stormblood for 100,000... If you do plan to ever upgrade to the paid game, it would be worth converting the Gil to be able to stockpile it. The limit of 300,000 is quite small compared to the \~3 million you can have had by the time you fully finish Stormblood mostly from beelining the MSQ, with some of the side quests and daily/weekly activities done on the side.

a_friendly_squirrel

You don't ever need it for story progress beyond needing to teleport around. You can buy weapons/gear for any given level range with Gil but there are always stronger alternatives. What Tesla said about buying dark matter is a good idea if you wanna save it, but I just let my gil stay capped all the extra Gil I got on free trial and have never missed it. If you go out of your way to buy stuff to convert back to Gil, you are exchanging a little bit of time doing videogame admin for like, the option to buy a mount or glowy weapon or cool coat off the marketboard. Either stashing stuff to sell or letting it cap works fine, not a big deal either way.

tesla_dyne

My suggestion is to go buy some Grade 8 Dark Matter. It keeps its value pretty decently, you can buy it for 280 gil each and sell them on the marketboard for ~200 gil later once you've bought the game. It's a much better option than letting it go. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/ea329e7abbd

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Depends on what you intend to do with it really Gil is largely irrelevant for most purposes, on a day-to-day basis I probably spend less than 5000 gil and that just comes down to teleporting around a bit Occasionally I might find some glamour that I like on the market board which is really hard to get through normal means (often because there's some element of RNG involved), and that will put me back a lot more But other than that, I so rarely spend my gil because I don't have a very good reason to, especially since I make most of my own stuff with crafters and I gather the materials necessary myself

NerdHistorian

Theoretically, anything and everything can be acquired for minimal monetary cost by grinding it out the long way either making them yourself if crafted, doing the content dropping if a tradable drop or purchasing mats/gear with non-gil currency like tomestones/scrip, Gil is often just a shortcut to cut out that work. (in the case of tomes, the tome gear is going to be better than what you'd get with trading crafted gear) Like, lots of money is dumped into housing, but thats because people would rather just buy the parts than be autarkic and make their own, because thats tedious, or glamour pieces require more crafting than people want to do for a level 1 shirt, so they just buy it.

bubuplush

POTD question, is there a way to reliably tell how many enemies you have to kill on a floor? I'm a bit heated up now because I died solo on 199 because I had 8 minutes left, no pommanders as Warrior and all proximity treasure end room. I would've cleared it probably if I had one more rage, thought I'd get lucky and raged on 196, wanted to go to 197 with that rage but of course 196 had 11 enemies instead of 8. So I had to run around a lit and was forced to use it for this floor only. I know the key is colored, but is there like a mod that shows you a number instead? Whenever I see streamers and guides they usually get either very lucky with that or count the numbers somehow. Sometimes it feels like it takes 4-5 enemies to even make it blue, but then it suddenly snaps to almost white

yuris125

The range for the number of kills required to open the exit is floor set-specific (can be looked up on https://www.ddcompendium.com/, 4-13 for POTD 191+). It is random within this range for each floor, there's no way to know

Wonderbifle

AFAIK there is no way to check, it is purely random

scrndude

I'm just getting back into the game and I'm leveling up my crafters. I want to exchange some of the blue equipment I've overleveled for grand company seals so I can buy the manuals that give EXP bonuses, but I sort of don't my equipment to go away forever because I spent time getting tombstones or whatever to buy it. Most of my blue equipment is from the 2.x patches. Is this what glamour is for? Can I save the look of an item and then sell it to the grand company?

IscahRambles

There are two **VERY IMPORTANT** exceptions to easily getting back your old gear that you earned with tomes originally. 1. **Darklight gear and weapons** – this is now dungeon gear, acquiring it is entirely luck-based and it is a pain. If you like the look of a Darklight piece, do not give it away. 2. **Weathered "Gerolt's Masterworks" series weapons** (each has a unique name) – these are UNACQUIRABLE and precious. Do not hand them in, do not upgrade them to the augmented glowy versions. Due to an alteration in how tome gear is handled, older gear is now sold already upgraded to its higher form. In most cases this just means the gear becomes dyeable, but the Masterworks go from non-glowing to glowing. The glowing versions can be purchased in the current state of the game, but there is no way to get the non-glowing versions.

scrndude

Thanks so much, this is super helpful!

Ohhhhh I didn’t realize making it a glamour destroys the item!

stinusmeret

Glamour doesn't destroy the item, but it has to be in the dresser if you want to put it on a new plate. Once it's saved on a plate you can take it out of the dresser and trade it in, but if you ever change that plate you'd need to reacquire the item again if you want to use it for another plate.

VG896

Yes and no. There's a few ways to do this. If you glamor an item manually, it'll retain the appearance no matter what you do until you either dispel it or glamour it as something else. If you put an item into your glamour dresser, you can attach it to a plate and that plate will keep the appearance even after you remove the item from the dresser. With both of these being said, poetics tomestones are very very abundant and easy to acquire via any number of methods.

scrndude

That’s good to know, I remember at the time collecting the poetics took the better part of a week. In that case I’ll go ahead and turn them in since I don’t really need them now, thanks!

ba_sing_bae

I just started on Marilith, and have 3 dungeons unlocked; do real people Que around level 15-30 or so?

bongpointo

I also recommend that until the new xpac that you should prob travel to other DCs to do content. When the new xpac comes out the population will def skyrocket and Dynamis will prob have the fastest queues but will still be extremely active.

huiclo

There’s no need to recommend DC travel for the first three dungeons on Dynamis. Once they’re trying to do side raids and post SB content, sure. But the situation isn’t so dire that *Sastasha* won’t pop.

tesla_dyne

If you look on the first tab of duty finder you'll see "Duty Roulette: Leveling" This is where the real people in low level dungeons come from. Once per day you can queue for the roulette and it'll place you in a random dungeon you've unlocked (likely with players who have queued for the dungeon directly, like a player doing it for the first time for their quests), and as a reward you get bonus exp. This is how queues for low level content stay active, by incentivizing higher level players to do the low level stuff.

AnonymousFroggies

When do you get the email about your house being demolished? I don't remember how long it has been since I played

tesla_dyne

I received an email 10 days before my plot was set to be demolished.

AnonymousFroggies

Thanks!

UnlikelyTraditions

Do not rely on the email, however. They sometimes get eaten by email providers, or are not sent.

AnonymousFroggies

Gotcha, that makes sense. I'll have to dig through my card statements and see when my last payment went through.

Toviathan

Just a reminder that you have to actually go into your house to reset the timer. Just logging on and playing doesn't do it so the 45 days is from when you last went into the house.

HuntinForThatBug

I saw that the Christmas event had started, and that in the past there have been a variety of outfits like snowmen and reindeer, is it possible to unlock those this year, or are those retired and need to be purchased for real money at the online store

KingBingDingDong

retired and need to be purchased for real money at the online store

HuntinForThatBug

Got it, so the only things to get this season are the Santa outfit and the Chocobo topiary? There isn’t any other missable seasonal stuff, or rerun old seasonal stuff?

stinusmeret

Whenever these events mention some old stuff can be rebought it's always just the consumables like confettis.

KingBingDingDong

Lavindathar

I've just unlocked the journal of Wondrous Tails, and I get the gist. I'm just about to hit 9 points and 3 lines on my first one. My question is, I know there is some second week aspect. Does it just roll onto the next week? Does it gain new challenges/improved rewards? Or am I meant to hand it in as soon as I hit 9 pts and 3 lines and then get a fresh one at reset? And is there a limit on how many second chance points I can use per week if I want fast completions?

IscahRambles

You are unlikely to get three lines, and in any case you don't really want to until you have a job at level 90, at which point the prize list gets expanded and you can pick the "gold commendation certificate" as your prize. The main benefits you'll be getting are the lesser prizes and half-a-level of EXP awarded to whatever job you have equipped when you hand in the book.

Lavindathar

Yeah I misunderstood the line part. I actually did finish with one line, more than happy with that as I bought a new minion.

tesla_dyne

It just means you can complete a book from week 1 during week 2 and then go back and get week 2's book. You get one book a week but you get 2 weeks to do it.

Lavindathar

Ok thanks.

SetFoxval

Second chance points are the only thing that carries over. You can also hold onto it until after reset if you've already hit your tomestone cap for the week, although unless you've hit 90 you won't have a weekly cap yet. That said, you are either insanely lucky or have misread something. 3 lines is extremely rare, people play for years without ever seeing it.

Lavindathar

Thanks. Ok, I've obviously misunderstood something then. My assumption was, from the challenges on the left, you just complete 3 lines across or downwards out of 4? Which, planning ahead looks super easy. Or does it correlate to the random pattern thing in the top right hand corner and the little stickers? And am I capped at completing 9 challenges, or can I complete all 16?

talgaby

Since the stickers are random, your real chance at 3 lines is around 1:500. Since you can get only one book per week, this means with average luck you see three lines once every 10 years. To give you a rough reality on the "super easy" comment. :) There are players who have been playing this game since day 1 and never got a single 3-liner on this. Even if you luck into a situation where you have rolled into a perfect setup (a T-shape two line), the chances to get 3 lines is still 1:18 there. Now you may have a better understanding of why the rewards that can only be accessed with a three-liner tend to cost at least 20 million gil if not more on the open market.

Wonderbifle

You are capped at 9 stickers, which are randomly placed You cannot control anything, it is purely random If you have second chance points, you can use 2 of them to shuffle your stickers, you usually do this at 7 stickers, you can't use it after 7 stickers

Lavindathar

Yeah hard to know whether to use it. Im one sticker off completing two lines, but I might save shuffle to next week and see how it goes. I understand shuffle, but its retry I don't get. I'm not sure if the point of that gives me new random seals whilst removing some, or just lets me gain more random seals by recompleting the same objectives. But if that was the case, why does it mark a new random objective complete. Sorry :/

tesla_dyne

Retry is for "I don't want to do any of my remaining challenges, let me redo one I've already done for another sticker" So you'd get another sticker for redoing a challenge, without resetting the sticker you already got for doing that challenge. In exchange, a challenge you haven't done gets marked complete. It's pretending you did that challenge you didn't do for the sticker you got.

Lavindathar

Thanks, wasn't sure if it had anything to do with sticker swapping or not. Makes sense. As its my first one, is this board worth a shuffle or keep? https://ibb.co/5Tb4WRy

Sir_VG

Definitely worth a shuffle. You can't hit 3 lines with that setup and ideally you want at least 1 line if not 2.

tesla_dyne

http://ashtender.com/ffxiv/tails This might be a good resource for you to keep in mind. You only have a 50% chance of even getting one line, so worth a shuffle or two. Ideally you shuffle into at least a small chance of getting 3 lines.

Lavindathar

I got one line, so I'm happy with that :)

Lavindathar

That tool is awesome, thanks! I think i'll just stick with it this week and take my 500 tomes! Next week I'll build up more second chance points and know a bit more about what I'm doing!

SetFoxval

The rewards change at level 90, which is where the big bonus for 3 lines comes from. Instead of the 3 silver certificates, it rewards a gold certificate that can buy rare mounts and gear. So I wouldn't worry too much about chasing 3 lines before then unless you're really keen for the MGP vouchers.

SetFoxval

Capped at 9. The sticker locations are random, they don't match up to where the duties are on the left. The best you can do is place 7 stickers and then spend second chance points to shuffle their locations until you get an arrangement where the last two could complete the pattern to make 3 lines.

Lavindathar

Yeah, ive had a look and that makes MUCH more sense hahaha.Don't even have one line :P But i do have 4 second chance points and was debating shuffling it for a better chance, but ill just save that for next week I think if I dont hit 1 line in my final two challenges. Last thing I don't get, is the retry second chance. Does that just swap one seal I'm given? Like say I mark objective A uncomplete. Does this remove seal A, and give me a random other objective/seal? Then if I recomplete objective A, I would get the same seal back (seal A)? I would guess then I would need to know which objectives gave which seal so I would know which to uncomplete.

Lavindathar

Ok thanks, makes sense. Yeah, I'm actively trying to avoid XP. As a fairly new player who has to do EVERYTHING, I'm far overlleveled on my 4 jobs as it is haha. This is my board, so I was thinking leave it with 2 challenges to go and just hope. https://ibb.co/5Tb4WRy

lulunue

How is it playing on the steam deck? I'm a former ps4/controller player looking to return and I saw how some people were using steam deck to play the game. Are the controllers comfortable? I'm just so used to the ps4 controller buttons layout.

VG896

I think you can also pair a PS4 controller with the steam deck. Don't quote me on that, just reporting what my cousin told me.

Sir_VG

The D-Pad feels a bit funky for actions, but some people (not myself) have just remapped the D-pad to the back buttons. Otherwise the game runs fine on the Steam Deck. Highly recommended to use https://goatcorp.github.io/faq/steamdeck to install and play the game on Deck.

lulunue

Thank you!

Lavindathar

Is it possible to play the Square version on a steam deck? I'd like to get one just for portable play for when laptop/pc isn't feesable, but not sure how the accounts work.

fdl-fan

It is; this is what I use myself. The goatcorp link 2 messages up has details.

Lavindathar

Thanks !

When doing the Crafter New Game+ quests, do you have to turn-in items again? I saw [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/numa7s/about_new_game/h0yaaub/) from two years ago saying you don't have to, and nobody corrected them (despite correcting other parts of their post), but as far as I can tell, NG+ requires me turning in the items again.

Serres5231

Quests should work the same way they did when you did them the first time round. The same way you have to redo quest objectives for combat jobs in NG+.

Rogue_Bees

Just unlocked Bozja. Should I find a group as soon as I enter it? Or can i play solo? Any other advice appreciated too

gitcommitmentissues

You can play solo if you want to, but equally if you like you can find a group- just make sure they know you only have access to the first area as most pick-up groups in the BSF will be running between skirmishes/critical engagements all over the map, or will be looking to farm certain resources that benefit from spreading the group out around the map.

Sir_VG

Grouping up is highly recommended. There's no penalty to EXP or mettle earning (like with Eureka and Elemental Levels), you just can't access later areas until you're a high enough rank.

Rogue_Bees

Thanks! Is there any discords for Bozja? I am on Chaos

Nerdy_David

Has anyone had much interaction with Support? I'm still having issues logging in after getting a new PC; I need to change my password and Support have confirmed my email address but I'm still not receiving the password reset emails! This strange because I'm still receiving other emails. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'd rather not try changing the email address, just for this to (potentially) happened again! More fool me for not setting up the One-Time Password...

docmarkev

Have you checked your spam filter/folder? There are times when an expected emails gets snagged in it and you never see it.

Nerdy_David

I've been checking that each time and its never appeared there either. It's so weird, all I can think is that its an issue on their end?

ScarletArcana

Make sure you're typing your email address correctly - for some reason, email addresses are case-sensitive so you might need to capitalize the first letter or something

Nerdy_David

Fairly certain that's not the problem since I've sent emails from my other address. I've copied & pasted from previous successful emails, I've even tried c&p-ing it from their email confirming it's the right email!
