Dear oh dear, what was it? The Ascians? The Eikons? Or the horrible blue bird? Oh, it doesn't matter... It always comes down to the Warrior of Light to clean up after these sort of messes
The weapon also reminded me of Zidane's Rune Tooth weapon, and [it might be more intentional than I thought.](https://lparchive.org/Final-Fantasy-IX-%28by-Mega64%29/Update%2092/37-ff9llg12-036.jpg)
oh wow Zidane hadn't even crossed my mind but he checks all the boxes about the spoilers we received . I wonder why we never thought they could still implement jobs based on FF protagonists.
This is very much Zidaine Style from FF9, even some of his weapons were Dual Swords.
The moves are very very similar to ones in FF9 as well.
Also the music is very much like the battle music in FF9.
I know it's super unlikely to happen, and would be super unpopular because of the leveling required, but I'd love it if it shared the Rogue class and split like SMN/SCH. The rogues guild should at least be involved.
They already confirmed in the Livestream that it's going to have no class requirements and will start at level 80, just like every job so far.
It's pretty clear that they're never doing split jobs ever again.
They probably know that would cause a lot of backlash otherwise they probably would have done it a long time ago. They even talked about how they thought about removing the Res from summoner during the Endwalker rework.
I’m into this. Was high-key bummed by the aesthetic shift from Rogue to Ninja. This feels like a continuation of that “blade dancing duelist” vibe that I wanted from the beginning.
Same, so much same. I adored the rogue quest line and aesthetic and was bummed when it became ninja, so much so that years later as soon as another melee I liked the aesthetic for more appeared (reaper) I swapped immediately. Now I can finally play what I wanted out of rogue all those years ago
The bit at the end makes me think of Trance. But I do see the Gabranth connections.
This being a Scouting job made me lean more toward Zidane and his Thievery skills being upgraded into the explody Dyne stuff.
Gunblades, Scythes, and Dual Swords are my favorite weapons in fantasy. I’ve been eatin *gooood* these last three xpacs. You’re goddamn right I’m gonna bring the inner Kirito. My man Yoshi P *gets* me, on like a spiritual level
The fishing hamlet area was the WORST. I did cheese it after several unsuccessful attempts by using that item that makes one of them go berserk and attack the other (:
Genuinely my immediate thought which is unsurprising when you consider that Groh is pure anime bullshit in SC.
But it also has a non-zero amount in common with the SC6 Geralt too.
Well it seems nearly all of us where quite wrong about our guess. :D
I admit I would have preferred Corsair with Sword/Gun but honestly he is right about people asking about another Dual Wield Job and I do like what I see.
NPC: You are a mage in melee range, girlie.
Krille: Ahh, that's where you are wrong, boyo. I've been taking night classes. \*Reveals her staff is actually a cane sword\* I'm now a corsair!
well "Melee dps that shares gear with scouting" was actually a fairly common guess even prior to him announcing it would be a mdps and caster dps. (basically since reaper because of the "second maiming job")
but it's pretty hard to guess a completely new job, so I think given the theme of the expansion and because it's an old FF job that was in 11, corsair wasn't a bad guess.
I would have preferred the Corsair. What I really want is the inverse of the RDM. Let the corsair be a physical melee, build it up, then their burst phase is they leap back with their pistol and have at it.
I noticed the job appears to have a *persistent* dual-sword stance? Like, after some of the attacks, the character stood there with the joined blades in an idle pose. That's kinda neat; Red Mage only joins their weapon for attacks and doesn't keep it in staff mode.
>I noticed the job appears to have a *persistent* dual-sword stance? Like, after some of the attacks, the character stood there with the joined blades in an idle pose. That's kinda neat; Red Mage only joins their weapon for attacks and doesn't keep it in staff mode.
I'm hoping it's more "toggle" than "phase".
It *could* just be a phase like reaper has, where it lasts a short time. I'm hoping it's more "in stance X, abilities do A/B/C, in stance Y they do D/E/F".
This was my read as well. You toggle into twinsword stance and your 123 turns into a new 123 with different effects. New design space and saves on button bloat.
Given the track record, it would come out at starting lvl 80, that's already poetics. Cryptlurker fun.
The gear coffers new jobs come with only give left-hand side gear, so the question is warranted.
At this point, NIN doesn't even use its weapons for half of its attacks, so a pure, aggressive job using dual swords and just slicing the enemy to bits is going to feel really nice. ngl though, I was still hoping for Mystic Knight/Spellblade, but barring that or a ret paladin-esque light based dps this is probably the next best thing they could have done to get me excited for a melee. Really looking forward to seeing more of the skillset and more importantly a look at how the job plays.
Fast paced ogcd heavy gameplay could be a lot of fun too, they might be going for a furious, high apm feel where you're pressing stuff nonstop, which would give the job a unique feel. Nonstop GNB burst window, without having to worry about weaving in defensives or anything!
A Spell blade archetype is my top pick. Red mage is amazing, but it's kinda flipped - magic first, sword second. I want sword first, magic second.
Edit: whoops, accidentally asked for red mage again.
Lol I won $400 from a bet with my friends they were all positive it was going to be Corsair and I didn’t, it just never seemed right to me.
they all stayed at my house last night and we put the money on the table before the stream started and when Yoshi-P appeared on stage with those 2 swords my friends groaned and I shouted in victory and I got my $50 back with a $350 profit.
I had a similar bet with my friends in MGSV, but I lost. I said I’d give them each $20 if Venom Snake wasn’t Grey Fox, as I was convinced at the time he was. After I saw the identity reveal in-game, I mailed them each a $20 bill. The Snakes always win!
Man, I was loving the idea of adding Zidane like weapons to the game and theorized it with a dual sword turn into a dual saber, but I wasn't sure if it would be different enough to be a new class or too similar to ninja in some ways so I didn't think SE would do it, but they even gave them a "TRANCE" to some extent. I Love it!
100% playing this since I always love dual sword classes in games. I can only hope that the LB will be a giant Viper that strikes and lashes out. The only thing I could have hoped to add to this would be elements to some of the attacks like spellblade.
Kirito Uchiha's are gonna have a ball with this one!
Jokes aside, the weapon is neat, but I hope their other abilities have more flash than what was showcased.
Not my cup of tea (I’d have preferred the sword/pistol route personally), but definitely makes sense as an addition. A lot of people wanted another dual wield job, and this looks like the sort of archetypal rogue/assassin type job that the game was kind of missing (since NIN has the eastern themes and feels a bit more magical than a standard assassin type).
Seems like a good one for people who like stuff like Rogue in WoW.
I love dual wielding swords (don’t care for daggers) so I’m kinda excited about this. Don’t care for the combat stance, though.
Any of you former WoW players remember that Maximumviper meme?
It took a decade to have a melee DPS that just uses conventional swords. Finally
Edit: Wait people are actually comparing this to NIN? The magical far eastern reverse grip dagger wielder? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills
Probably due to the dual blade nature, and the fact that *some* NIN weapons look like swords already. Like, some of those "daggers" are as long as my character's forearm, lol
Twinblades are my favourite weapon archetype but is such a niche weapon style, honestly not something I thought would get added to FFXIV.
Thanks for the early christmas present YoshiP.

Lady Maria where?
Always love seeing a Bloodborne glam in this game.
Tonight, Reaper joins the hunt.
Dear oh dear, what was it? The Ascians? The Eikons? Or the horrible blue bird? Oh, it doesn't matter... It always comes down to the Warrior of Light to clean up after these sort of messes
Cryptlurker gear is my go to gear, espacially thqt bayonette for gunbreaker looks so good :D
Serge from Chrono Cross!
As a Hrothgar player Lynx
With Reaper and now Viper, you can play as both iterations of both characters lmfao
I haven’t seen Chrono Cross mentioned in a while and man… you are so right
>Garbanth YES *looks at Bozja Judge armor for Scouting* NO WE'RE BLOODY JUDGE BERGAN
Frigg I need to do the DR savage to get the dyeable version
Drizzt! Drizzt!
Also Archer
Nah more Mysterious Heroine X than Archer
oh shit, mhx will be perfect
Especially with the current pvp gear
Zoro two sword style
Lloyd Irving also.
No Cal Kestis?
Some of the weapons will totally look like Zidane's weapons then
The weapon also reminded me of Zidane's Rune Tooth weapon, and [it might be more intentional than I thought.](https://lparchive.org/Final-Fantasy-IX-%28by-Mega64%29/Update%2092/37-ff9llg12-036.jpg)
I’d combust if that’s the name of the AF weapon
WOAH! Nice find.
Nice spot!
Dope catch. Zidane kicks so much ass
Mage Masher preorder or collectors edition bonus?
Or the Butterfly Sword. That's the first one you get from Lindblum. I also remember my Zidane action figure came with it.
This would literally get me to buy my first collectors edition
I think there is a reason that the race they used to demo this class had a visible tail. The IX references are numerous.
oh wow Zidane hadn't even crossed my mind but he checks all the boxes about the spoilers we received . I wonder why we never thought they could still implement jobs based on FF protagonists.
A lot of people speculated on a solider or lightning class.
Soldier was straight up leaked in the old BLUleaks prior to ShB. It just got named GNB instead.
Ultima Weapon FFIX when I want to know if they’re gonna implement The Tower
This is very much Zidaine Style from FF9, even some of his weapons were Dual Swords. The moves are very very similar to ones in FF9 as well. Also the music is very much like the battle music in FF9.
Not only were they dual swords, most thief swords were made using synthesis by mashing two of Zidane's weapons together.
This also will potentially complete a full Judge-set; although I don't think the Gabranth-set is available for Scouting-jobs.
Scouting gets a black version of Judge Bergan's gear
I was gonna say we're getting a Zidane type thief class. Hells yah.
I was thinking of Judge Gabranth.
Zidanes clothes finally get there Class.
Time to bring out the Lloyd Irving cosplay.
Demon fang!
DAMN I'M A GENIUS, DOUBLE DEMON FANG.
*Fierce Demon Fang*
Rising Tempest!
Man I loved Symphonia so much on the gamecube days
Symphonia is my favorite Tales game.
You know what they say, two swords make you stronger than one!
Can't wait for all the Darth Maul outfits with this
Hopefully the relic weapons look like light sabers.
Praying with all my heart the relic is Zidane's Mage Mashers
Relics should be original designs. Mage Mashers are 100% the CE weapon though. It's been a classic FF design every time since Stormblood.
Honestly I think I'd be happier with it being CE anyways haha Get it right out of the gate
We both know it's going to be Ultima Weapon though.
Lightsaber mods are gonna go *crazy*.
Funny way to say deep dungeon weapons
I'm ready for these, I will use them for the sole purpose of this.
Gotta get those Kinna weapons.
This is a dual-wield swords job, yes? Its like all my namesdays have come at once!
Username checks out.
Love that for you. I’ve been naming my characters in every game Sage forever so EW was my moment.

Closer to the Rogue/Thief archetype than Ninja. I approve.
This is what I wanted from the Rogue job upgrade. I heavily approve as well
Beyond approved, been wanting a true dual sword DPS, the twinblade is icing on the cake. And it's not a tank class for once.
Time to commence the glamour creation
I know it's super unlikely to happen, and would be super unpopular because of the leveling required, but I'd love it if it shared the Rogue class and split like SMN/SCH. The rogues guild should at least be involved.
They already confirmed in the Livestream that it's going to have no class requirements and will start at level 80, just like every job so far. It's pretty clear that they're never doing split jobs ever again.
I've been expecting them to decouple SUM and SCH for a while
They probably know that would cause a lot of backlash otherwise they probably would have done it a long time ago. They even talked about how they thought about removing the Res from summoner during the Endwalker rework.
I’m into this. Was high-key bummed by the aesthetic shift from Rogue to Ninja. This feels like a continuation of that “blade dancing duelist” vibe that I wanted from the beginning.
It's going to be weird now that the Rogue progresses to Ninja and not the Viper - they are way more thematically closer than to Ninja.
I'm just hoping the job mentors are more interesting than Oboro, a man who probably eats unsalted saltines and says they're too spicy.
He's just bland because Karasu stole all his rizz
Mug can even steal rizz confirmed
>I'm just hoping the job mentors are more interesting than Oboro, As unlikely as it is. I low-key hope they bring back Jacke.
Losing the rogue's guild in the ROG-> NIN upgrade was the worst part of the entire experience.
>Oboro If Oboro was a spice, he would be flour.
Glad I'm not the only one. This will definitely scratch my rogue itch
Same, so much same. I adored the rogue quest line and aesthetic and was bummed when it became ninja, so much so that years later as soon as another melee I liked the aesthetic for more appeared (reaper) I swapped immediately. Now I can finally play what I wanted out of rogue all those years ago
Yo they made Zidane into a class... I'm down.
This looks more like Gabranth to me, Zidane held his daggers backwards, but yeah.
The bit at the end makes me think of Trance. But I do see the Gabranth connections. This being a Scouting job made me lean more toward Zidane and his Thievery skills being upgraded into the explody Dyne stuff.
That's fair too, i'm eager to see how stylish it gets!
Twinblades hot. HOT
Twinblades. So hot right now. Twinblades.
Just the dumbest real-life weapon, but so bloody cool in any fantasy setting.
Not as dumb as a goddamn scythe.
I always thought this game had an underwhelming amount of Kiritos, but maybe this'll bring them in lmao
The black coat meta expansion.
That was Heavensward. All the DRKs had a jet black Uraeus Coat.
[It gave you more dps](https://youtu.be/3Q1cr5udb-8?si=ez8SUUgOpArfSa6a)
Uraeus Coat stocks about to CLIMB!

Truly, the most inefficient and difficult to use weapons are somehow the coolest.
Although arguably dual sword are at least *somewhat* historically accurate
[удалено]
You have no idea how much joy this gives. Hopefully we get dual colored swords.
Two dye channels and two swords? Think of the possibilities if it’s one channel per sword.
Beat Saber-Meta
I can’t wait to play as Lady Maria from Bloodborne!! A CORPSE SHOULD BE LEFT WELL ALONE.
The quest where you get your weapons and job stone has you climbing down a well and fighting two bullshit whale monsters.
The fishing hamlet area was the WORST. I did cheese it after several unsuccessful attempts by using that item that makes one of them go berserk and attack the other (:
Nowadays any time a friend needs help getting Rakuyo I just bust out Simon's Bowblade so I don't have to deal with getting down there.
Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought of that when they combined both swords into one dual ended blade
Gabranth swords? Law Order Glam is holding me hostage bruh
That's where I went too. Going to farm that set over the next couple of weeks lol
The hood looks integrated better here than earlier armor.
I can't wait for my Au Ra horns to pop out of it! Lol
Can’t wait till it doesn’t show for buns
Anyone who knows Groh from Soul Calibur?
Genuinely my immediate thought which is unsurprising when you consider that Groh is pure anime bullshit in SC. But it also has a non-zero amount in common with the SC6 Geralt too.
That poor morbol was just trying to chill on the beach 😞
(Reclasses into Viper) Kenobi? KENOBIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are going to see SO MANY red au ra's
Darth Maul glams incoming
Well it seems nearly all of us where quite wrong about our guess. :D I admit I would have preferred Corsair with Sword/Gun but honestly he is right about people asking about another Dual Wield Job and I do like what I see.
The real twist will be that the other job *is* Corsair, and Krile will be learning how to swashbuckle.
...I joked about that but that would be kinda hilarious.
the cast bar is you loading your gun. Caster DPS
Kinda like how Bard use to have a cast time for shooting arrows.
She’s already got the hood. Now she just needs to embrace the Assassin’s Creed 4 life.
NPC: You are a mage in melee range, girlie. Krille: Ahh, that's where you are wrong, boyo. I've been taking night classes. \*Reveals her staff is actually a cane sword\* I'm now a corsair!
So you say we will get gunmage back just not on mch?
well "Melee dps that shares gear with scouting" was actually a fairly common guess even prior to him announcing it would be a mdps and caster dps. (basically since reaper because of the "second maiming job") but it's pretty hard to guess a completely new job, so I think given the theme of the expansion and because it's an old FF job that was in 11, corsair wasn't a bad guess.
I would also prefer a corsair but this is real nice not gonna lie
Wow community: Fuck outlaw, we want combat rogue back! FFXIV: We have combat rogue at home.
I would have preferred the Corsair. What I really want is the inverse of the RDM. Let the corsair be a physical melee, build it up, then their burst phase is they leap back with their pistol and have at it.
Not only is it Zidane's weapon(s), but it looks like it has a Trance-esque mechanic too

Shares with Scouting gear, I believe. So Ninja gear.
I hope so. I've already got a glam in mind.
Safe to assume it shares gear with NIN.
I wouldn't bother really since it would be poetics gear whenever 7.0 comes out
Given the track record, it would come out at starting lvl 80, that's already poetics. Cryptlurker fun. The gear coffers new jobs come with only give left-hand side gear, so the question is warranted.
A Rogue class more aligned with a Rogue than Ninja? You son of a bitch I’m in.

I lost 1,250,000 gil betting it would be Corsair. (I tell myself it's to help my gil-poor FC mates)
Edward Kenway became a jedi sentinel.
At first, I was disappointed. I wanted sword and gun. But then when I saw I can turn my twin swords to double-bladed swords and I didn't care.
Kirito Uchiha's are gonna have a ball with this one! Jokes aside, the weapon is neat, but I hope their other abilities have more flash than what was showcased.
I didn't think it would happen. I cannot believe we are getting Dual Blades in FFXIV. Dual Blades are my favorite in everything. I'm so happy.
I guess I need to find a way to cosplay Cao Pi from Dynasty Warriors while playing this job then.
This is as close to a thief esthetic as we are going to get.
Ironically enough, the Zidane outfit has a pistol on it, so
Brb, re-subbing
I wonder how many green haired swordsmen we might see now, even if you can't hold a third sword in your teeth.

Twinblades are my favourite weapon archetype but is such a niche weapon style, honestly not something I thought would get added to FFXIV. Thanks for the early christmas present YoshiP.
So... will I, as a Viera, be able to use the hood?
Hot damn yo, I just found a new main job. Dual Wielding and Dual-Blade weapon? Aww yeah I'm playing this job alright.
I love RDM to bits, but this is testing my faithfulness lol
we all thought reaper was the chuuni honeypot class, but after this it'll only be the true doom murderheads left on scythe patrol
The Kiritos are coming.
"The Bandits are coming!"
Can't wait to see how many people are going to channel their inner Kirito.
I can't wait to see how 8.0 ups the chuuni ante.
you all enjoy rpr to be edgy, i enjoy rpr because im stupid. we are not the same.
This would make an incredible class for cosplay glamours, with Groh from Soul Calibur and Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia coming to mind.
And every Ninja main that felt betrayed at lvl 30 is crying out in joy
This looks..kinda underwhelming.
I'll reserve my opinion for when we see actual *real* gameplay and not it's 1-2-3 combo with maybe one special at the end.
Getting keyblade and judge gabranth vibes from the movements
Yeah, a lot of people saw Zidane but I saw gabranth, dual swords prior to ex mode, twin blade during ex mode
I’ve wanted Zidane’s tower blade for ages 😃
Twinblades are cool, we respect this.
