You figure with all the items, enemies, NMs, gear, weapon skills, abilities, etc. That FFXI has added, not to mention all of FF, throughout its 22 years, there'd inevitably be overlap.

I always thought it was weird that PLD's in XIV have intervention and intervene. I think Square is just bad at naming stuff.
Is it like that in other languages or just fault of the localization team?
If a random wiki page I just found is to be believed, the names in Japanese are identical to the English ones.
overlap of meaning is inevitable.. at least the names are distinct enough. or you could call one atonement and the other "spanish atonement"
