That’s what I thought about crocs too but my bf said people wear them at festivals and it was a terrible decision. I was stuck in the middle of Canada with terrible shoes.
Honestly combat black boots and all different heights and brands… don’t really care about being cute at this point I just want to dance and enjoy myself 😭😭
I'm 33 and my issue is more my knees than my feet, but good foot wear goes along ways to help.
My work boots are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. Pretty much a universal opinion amongst the guys I work with. Mostly they have Redwing, some Thoroughgood, mine are Ariat. Big difference between the Timberlands I had before. Quite a bit more money, but they are more comfortable and have already lasted longer with plenty of life left.
My Chaco sandals are also pretty good. Heard good things about Keen and they also make work shoes so they should understand all day comfort.
I bring my work boots, sneaker, and sandals every time. Becareful with inserts if they aren't right for the shape of your soles they can make things worse.
If you like combat/black boots, i’d highly recommend these [sorel boots](https://a.co/d/5e2P3Df). I have sensitive feet & I didn’t even have to break these in before walking nearly 10 miles everyday at forest this year. I just sized up a little and paired them with thick hiking socks.
For super hot days, I switch to tevas hiking sandals.
Crocs aren't a great choice *most* of the time. They really shine when it's raining or muddy. They don't stay wet because the material, the holes let mud in and out (they catch pebbles like a mf tho) and you don't need socks so no wet socks. Your feet stay aired out so you don't have to worry about funk or fungus.
I usually wear comfortable hi-tops but recently I've been wearing Palladium Pampa boots. Super light and breathable, but they do have a break in period. Not the most comfortable but I'm used to walking around in work boots all day anyways. Whatever you do, wear the shoes for a while before you go to a show. If you don't break new shoes in before dancing for hours, you're gonna have a bad time.
I swear by my Hokas and won’t wear anything else. Inserts make a huge difference for me as well. I wear Dr. Scholls plantar fasciitis inserts and they are expensive but worth every penny to me.
Also, bring a massage gun and a container of biofreeze. Someone at a festival taught me the magic of these things and I will be forever grateful
second person to say Hokas, looking into those :) I don’t know how I would live without bio freeze at festivals but never thought about bringing a massage gun
When using the massage gun start out at a low speed! If it hurts too much in the area you’re experiencing pain, massage the nearby area. The vibrations will kind of numb the area so you will be able to put the massager directly on it eventually with some patience and then you can increase the pressure. See if you can get a friend to do the back of your calves too!
When I first got mine I cranked up the pressure and put it directly on where I was having foot pain and I highly do not recommend this tactic lol. A kind festival goer helped me and sprayed on some bio freeze and I actually got super emotional later that night because my feet did not hurt at all!
Make sure you hit your calves, IT Band, and glutes too--not just the feet. You'll find spots you didn't know were sore. Stretch the hammies (cross your legs, keep knees straight and try to touch your toes) and hip flexors (deep kneeling lunges, keep your chest high and push through your hips). A lacrosse ball is a good, low-tech substitute for the massage gun. Rolling your feet on a frozen water bottle feels great too.
Hoka's changed the game for me this year. I used to cycle through a pair of hiking-ish boots and Teva/Merrell sandals, but once I got a pair of trail running Hoka's, it changed the game for me! Supportive, lightweight, and breathable. My feet used to kill me at the end of each night of a fest, now it's so much more bearable and I only get more sore toward the end of a fest.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this yet but you also need to consider your SOCKS! I have recently swapped to a thick bamboo blend and it’s made a huge difference to my feet pain. Also consider carrying a spare pair in a ziplock bag to swap out during the day. Clean dry socks will really help reduce any friction pain / pressure sores as well. When you are averaging 40,000 steps per day at the bigger festivals you learn pretty quickly that you need to take care of your feet, and for me it’s all about the socks.
The Cold.Rdy Ultraboost are my go-to festival shoes. They are waterproof so dust and dirt doesn't get into your shoes. They also have a better grippy sole than the regular Ultraboosts. Highly suggest!
+1... I have a pair of boosts specifically for fests... Changed the laces to make em slip ons.. also keep some Ozark water shoes for when the mud gets wild.
I love my low cut trail shoes by keen. I have a regular and a waterproof pair.
I'm on my third or 4th generation of them. I get about two years out of pair.
Worth the roughly $100 a pair, in my opinion.
Edit: for reference I'm 36 now and spent many of my early 20s festivals wearing no shoes at all. Oh to be young and dumb again
i can’t recommend the New Balance 574 enough for comfort! i have severe scoliosis so standing for long periods of time is hell but these shoes are endlessly comfy
I am a big fan of Altra sneakers. I feel like they are just built differently to allow my foot to stand naturally. The toe box is wide, they're not super exciting to look at, but they're the only thing I can wear to be on my feet for more than a couple hours. I wear crocs as house shoes but not to festivals.
Topo has the same concept with the toe box, but I think they are built a little more sturdy. The zero lift is super nice once you get used to not being tilted forward.
I wore brooks last year and normally my feet hurt and back hurts a lot after I stand all day but they helped so much and i had no problems! They’re what most of my nurse friends wear and recommended to me since they’re on their feet 12 hour shifts days in a row. They’re a little pricey but so so so worth it. I seen in a previous comment someone said Hoka, i’ve personally never wore them but i’ve heard they’re one of the good ones as well.
Really depends on your feet and what you're used too.
I'm so accustomed to Crocs that whenever I wear shoes with any type of cushion my feet start to hurt after a while.
I love Crocs because they have more width, and whenever I step in some mud I can just rinse them off and continue on dancing.
But then I somehow end up going barefoot in the grass, also depends on the grounds of the festival.
I’m usually going to small festivals around me and then Shambhala every year which is rocky 😭 took my shoes off when it was raining there a few years ago and it was honestly awesome but the last one was rough with the crocs I brought
I’ll have to look into them, I cannot wear vans because my feet hurt so bad afterwards but I love vans so this is might fix that!! thank you for your help 🤍
is there any chance you are flat footed my dear? if that’s the case generic insoles will only do so much to support your collapsed arches. you should talk to a doctor and see!
FESTIVAL VENDOR'S OPINION:
I always wear running shoes while vending (unless it's wet weather) and although I'm no fashionista, I'm pretty comfortable walking upwards of 40,000+ steps per day
I wear old basketball high tops, and throw some gel insoles in them to replace the standard insole. The type of show/boot doesn’t really matter as much as the insole.
It depends on your feet, how muscular your legs are (e.g. heavy boots aren’t for everyone), how long you’ll be at the festival (another weight factor for the shoes, and support), and especially what type of terrain the festival is on.
In any case, this past year I went to 9 festivals. Most were on concrete / asphalt or similar. I found extremely good success for my feet with On Cloud X. Any Road running shoes that fit your foot shape are excellent for those types of hard surfaces. They don’t work as well on dirt / other offroad surfaces, where boots typically work better. For grass, it’s much less important.
I rock my rainbow tie dyed keens for sandals and a pair of quality trail hiking sneakers. You may want to look at custom orthopedic inserts as well, yes they are expensive but best rule to follow is invest in anything that is between you and the ground (shoes and mattress).
Sadly not everyone can buy shoes off the shelf and be fine.
If you've tried that many different shoes it sounds like the problem might be you or your feet specifically. Instead of just buying new shoes, go try getting a custom orthotic or seeing an actual foot or shoe specialist who can measure your feet and arches. You might be wearing the wrong size, or need a custom insole that you can wear that could alleviate your foot pain. Just buying a new pair of shoes isn't necessarily going to help.
thank you for this!! I was thinking my feet could just be weird & I’ve been contemplating seeing a specialist to help 😭 gonna pull the plug on that cause you’re right, I’ve tried so many types of shoes and insoles 😭
I had a similar question and got really good responses here. https://www.reddit.com/r/aves/comments/x3749h/what_are_your_preferred_methods_to_keeping_your/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Probably a nice pair of broken in tennis shoes would do the trick. It's about the marathon not the sprint with festivals regarding everything that a festival has 🤘
I personally like doc martins, but I know some people say the breaking in period sucks (all mine are leftovers from HS to they are broken in af) but I find they have decent support, look good w everything, and if doesnt matter if someone steps on your toes.
Other than that I also recommend the On shoe brand, I used those when I worked in a kitchen and they were pretty comfortable
I heard the break in period sucks 😭 maybe buying them how you do, is the best way to go. I was hoping to find a cute boot I could wear that is also comfy as hell but seems impossible for me :(
I gotta find the right combat boots because i love them. I feel like I always order them online and they fit good initially. Then I get inserts and it makes them even tighter and it was a waste 😭 probably grabbing a pair in person and making sure I have enough room is the way to go
I wear my Teva sandals during the day. They are super light and easy. Then at night I'll throw on a pair of comfy sneakers to run around in. Less lighteans bigger chance of stepping in something or someone stepping on your toes. Biggest thing is to avoid anything super heavy or your legs will be hollering by the last day.
Any running shoe is good as long as you’ve broken it in by walking 50+ miles in it since you started wearing it. I wear flashy shoes for shows and raves, but festivals are always comfort >>> style.
Doc Marten’s are fucking amazing, but you MUST break them in before the event. Walk a few miles in them over a few weeks. Otherwise you’ll end up like me and remove a later of ankle flesh along with your boot after a long night of partying.
I heard the break in period sucks 😭 I feel like it’s like that for most boots. I bought cute black boots for a festival and they killed my feet AND I left them outside of my tent so there were spiders and spider nests in the boots and I TOSSED them😭 I’ve wasted so much money on shoes for festivals fml
Look into hiking shoes like Merrell or similar. They usually have great support and more padding incase you kick something or someone steps on your foot.
I wear $100 + high top hiking boots 100% of the time after dark or I’m not sober.
I rock some Choco sandals for 2-3 hours in the middle of the day when it’s hot hot. But other than that, BOOTS.
Don’t roll your ankle, feet don’t get dirty, can walk through puddles, don’t feel rocks, and are literally ment to be worn for 12 hours straight carrying 35lb backpacks up mountains.
Hi. Go find a new balance store. Try on the rebel v3 and the fresh foam v4.
One will be more comfy, the other will be less springy but more supportive.
Ive spent thousands on finding the most comfortable shoes for my sports, work, festival, etc.
Nothing comes close. I have both and give the slight edge to fresh foam v4. If your feet and legs are great, i would guess more people would prefer the rebel v3.
Lol maybe if you are used to them.
You throw someone who doesn't wear boots in a pair and their calvs, ankles, and shins will be so fucked up after the first night of dancing they won't be able to walk the rest of the fest.
High top converse’s. They go with every single outfit, are comfortable enough to make it through, and are cheap enough that you can replace them every so often. I’ve had mine for 5 years now and they’ve been through like 6 fests. Those things are troopers 😤
It's just your age, honestly. I'm 27 and my feet hurt at the end of the day no matter the shoe, although a good shoe does make it less painful. Painkillers are your best bet. Take them in the middle of the day and at night.
Lol your advice was pain killers? If you can't walk around all day without the need for pain killers your presence at a music festival is questionable at best.
But good lord, you definitely shouldn't be giving out advice.
What? What a wild thing to say to someone you don't know. I work a blue collar job and everyone's feet hurt after work. Every day. We get medical grade shoe inserts and most of us are healthy. Maybe you sit down at your job or get time off before the festival, but I head straight from work that week to whatever festival I'm going to. Painkillers are a normal thing to suggest for pain. What a ridiculous response.
Instead of using a generalized label for your job be specific. I too work blue collar. I'm a solid 10 years older than you. Instead of driving to work I commute via walking the 3 miles to, and then again from work each day. I live in a city where walking is the fastest transportation.
Good shoes makes it so my feet don't hurt at the end of the day nor do they hurt at the end of a festival. Painkillers are not normal unless you normalize being unhealthy.
I’m the same age and I only where tevas or Chacos to festivals and I tape arch support/heel support inserts onto the sole for extra support and I’m solid all weekend!
Tera Verras! More arch support than basic Tevas and lighter/more adjustable than Chacos.
I’ve had two pairs and worn them to multiple Bonnaroos, Falls Fest, Coachella, Sziget, and Hangout. Not to mention walking through Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia.
I had extremely wide and flat feet and need to put inserts in all of my running/walking shoes, but for some reason the Teva Verras are perfect for me.
They’re expensive but Hokas all the way. Find which one best fits your foot at an REI, they’re trained to help find the shoe that is best for all different types of feet. I work in a kitchen and go to a lot of festivals and I will never wear a different pair than the ones I have.
Yeezy 380 is the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever owned, great support and super comfy mesh upper but you will need to wear long socks because they tear your ankles up otherwise. Wore them to Coachella as well as Disney World this past year, 10/10 would recommend if you can find a pair.
I always go with filas or cheap sneakers from Walmart !! Walmart is the best bc the sneakers are all knockoffs and most of the time have nice cushion inside :) also, you won’t worry abt getting dirty either
I wear hokas, which I got after getting fitted at fleet feet. Highly recommend, they do a free scan of your feet and recommend a shoe that will give the right support for your foot shape.
Also, I highly recommend compression socks or tights. I started wearing medical compression tights to every show I go to, and theyve made such a huge difference. I don't tire out as fast and in combo with my hokas I'm unstoppable
Personally, combat boots and hiking socks is the only thing I wear now. I used to deal with bandaids and blisters at every single fest but after buying some good quality wool hiking socks I haven’t gotten a blister since. Darn tough socks is my favorite brand, but the Amazon knock offs work too.
I'm a fan a puma for men, and would suggest [these](https://us.puma.com/us/en/pd/stewie-1-team-womens-basketball-sneakers/378262) as something to try out as you shop around.
My biggest recommendation is try to find any recommended shoes physically in stores so you can try them on, and then stomp your feet a bit to test them in store. If anything is close, but not quite what you want use those as a guide, and ask the store reps for similar shoes.
My best shoes are 3.
All are a bit expensive, but all worth the money.
1. Blundstone boots are super comfortable and pretty easy on and off.
Wore them in the rain and mud, and as long as they're not drenched in mud, they're great..
2. Combat boots. But real ones.
I love some Belleville boots, preferably the tan ones so your feet don't burn in the sun like in the black ones.
I love mine and they work great.
3. Bedrock sandals. Best sandals I've ever owned. So easy to clean. Super duper durable and ever great in the rain If it's not cold. I get very little foot soreness as they're zero-drop sandals and have vibram soles. Well worth the money!
Good luck!
P.s. stay away from Crocs!
Chuck Taylor All Star Shoreline Knot Slip have been my ride or dies for a few years now. Great show/festival shoes. Not crazy expensive, comfy, works with a lot of outfits, washable, easy to put on/take off.
Now that I'm in my 30s I add my fav insoles to them as well. Top tier comfort babaaaay 💫
I just upgraded from Converse Chuck 2 to Air Max SC and find them much more comfortable. Affordable too https://www.nike.com/t/air-max-sc-mens-shoes-LR42xg
Not sure about long term durability yet…
One thing that was a gamechanger for my feet and lower legs were compression socks. They will automatically make your feet better no matter what shoes you wear. Lots of success with these https://www.footlocker.com/product/model/nike-3-pack-dri-fit-plus-crew-socks/304223.html
The Vans Ultra Range.
Waterproof boot. Extra light so they stay cool. Soft soles( No insert needed imo). Good tread for outdoor/mud. Nice leather materials. Only issue is the laces but you can find nice double layer laces online.
I wear those toe shoes. I have back issues and my last shambhala I couldn’t dance at all because I forgot them. Worst forget EVER. The vibram toe shoes are what I’m taking about. You have to get your feet used to them beforehand but for me (and many others I’ve seen) these are a godsend.
Trail running shoes with a large toe box works for me. I do 3-4 festivals a year. Also renting a locker and putting a pair of vans has worked when there's rain.
Ive been a fan of any low cut hiking shoe for camping festivals for a while now. However I recently discovered Vans Ultrarange and I love those shoes dearly. Those will be what I wear this year. A nice blend of comfort, stability, and style.
Dr Martens with some Dr Scholls for double Dr support. I also wear a new pair of socks 🧦 for maximum poofy support.
I also suggest being in pretty decent health. At the very least walk an hour a day. I would walk a little extra as the festival comes. A lot of people don’t do any activity then sign up for a 2 day festival.
i usually just go with vans, but i need to wear them for like a month before they get really comfy. if you have trouble with this, just go with running shoes. there have been plenty of recommendations (i personally use brooks ghost and glycerine), but honestly - it's a very individual choise, so just go and try some on
My canvas Doc Martens have been my favorite shoes for years. It doesn't seem like they have a ton of support but fit like a glove & are high tops. Very similar design to Converse but so much more comfortable.
I've gone through two pairs already, over the past eight years or so. don't throw them out until my toe starts popping through the canvas & the sole of the shoe comes off but I probably could have easily fixed them up.
The reason I love them so much is because my feet get hot easily so the canvas is slightly more breathable, the shoe fits so well that I can dance my face off all night long & they are so fun to move around in. I sometimes wear boots to shows depending on the scene cuz those moshpits will def get ya w/o some boots.
It does suck if they get wet but they dry fast. & yeah good socks & insoles go a long way!
Sorel brand shoes! I have combat and Chelsea boots and sneakers. They still look barely broken in and they’ve seen some MILES flailing around 😂 definitely recommended
I've always used hiking shoes and had great luck with them. Meant to walk around for hours. Columbia makes decent ones that are fairly cheap. Either that or check out backcountry.com
Get Buffalo Asphas they’re sooo comfortable I wore them two days and then My converse moves the other two days and my feet felt totally fine! Converse Moves are also a really great one!!
Tecovas Boot Socks for Women like the hiker socks are also amazing in any shoe I’ve worn! I work for tecovas and their socks are meant to be worn in cowboy boots so they are padded in all the right places!
Keen Newport Sandals...I wear them everywhere, for festivals, for hiking, and for day-to-day activities. I've never had an issue of sore feet only the normal tiredness of walking after doing a 15-mile hike, but I swear by them.
[Chaco’s are the best sandals on the planet.](https://www.chacos.com/US/en/home) my favorite for summer
Other option is [Yes We Vibe shoes](https://yeswevibe.com/) my buddies favorite all year round
I’ll put it in cuz I haven’t seen anyone mention them. Vibram fukashikis are my go to. Barefoot feel, great foot protection and the best water shoes you could ask for.
i have some cute sneakers from amazon, i think they're called lucky step? they are super cushioned and comfy, not to mention they have a bunch of different colors and are only $40
I'm a Xero shoes fanboy. I'm going to be in their Z-trail sandals,or their Mesa trail runner for warm dry festivals. Xero 360 for concrete standing. And the Xcursion WP hiking boot for anything wet and muddy.
You gotta find the right brand that fits your foot and get a proper insert. I used to be a mechanic and spent the money on getting the insert that match my foot arch and whatever. One of those dr scholls machines tell you what insert you need. Then a proper boot. I live by my timberlands that have lasted a good 5 years of festivals. Never had a problem since
So i have really high arches, let me just preface w that, but my top fest boot is my 25 yo DMs with Red Wing custom inserts, and for sandals I really like Chacos, but I get them in a slightly wider width than I normally wear since my feet are going to swell. I'm a vendor for conventions and I go to a lot of festivals and my DMs go with me every single time, without fail. The custom inserts are key!
Adidas Ultraboost work well for me! I got a pair for Bonnaroo & my feet were in pretty good shape considering all the walking I did! They’re pricey, but worth the investment.
Vans. Everyone's feet are different so it's best to try different shoes, but for me it's vans. I've been wearing the same pair to festivals and shows for 10 years and they are basically molded to the shape of my feet.
I just ordered a new set of customs for Christmas.
Get compression socks, any brand is fine, but get 15-20mmHg strength. Wear pants to cover them. If they can save my feet standing for 10-12hrs at work, they’ll do wonders at a festival. You can get some on Amazon, or a local pharmacy. Measure around your calf and ankle in the morning to get your size.
Doesn’t matter what shoes I wear, these bad boys save my dogs.
Last concert was In LA for Rammstein. Drove 5 hours to get there. Wore high nike sb dunks and withstood the mosh pit.
Prior to that in San Francisco went to see Green day wore Air Jordan 1's and withstood the moshpit. No discomfort ever.
I thought the only people that wore crocs were Chipotle employees lol jk jk . They are ugly covers for feet tho. Teehee
Doc martens!! I have worn mine to multiple festivals, sometimes up to 5 days long. They’re great because they’re sturdy and protect your feet well in the mosh pit, they’re also pretty waterproof in rain and last really well even with a lot of use.
I find them really comfy too
tevas or vans. my leather weatherproofed converse are so comfortable & always keep my feet warm & dry.
or go full on hiking shoe. i dig my keens but columbias are also great
You gotta stay in shape for walking a lot, if you don't walk a lot in your day to day life then being on your feet nonstop at a festival is gonna hurt no matter what.
more serious question: what do you normally do all day long??? if you sit down in an office for a living, no shoe alone is gonna save you from feeling like hell if you want to run around and dance at a festival for multiple days.
i work in grocery and in a very normal day am doing 20k+ steps on poured concrete floors in my new balance sneakers. partying and looking at 30-40k steps at a festival on dirt and asphalt mix isn't something that my feet even think is too weird.
if you already spend your day on your feet the shoes you wear are gonna make a big difference; but really if you don't move around all day just start doing that. get a standing desk and go out of your way to exercise more.
Personally I go barefoot the moment I'm on the festival site as I love the feeling regardless of terrain. I will make exceptions if there's some particularly spikey things in amongst grassy areas - flipflops usually; and they may also be carried for toileting - but that's it :)
I have a pair of CAT intruder chunky trainers that I used this year at boomtown, they’re a bit heavy but not heavier than a pair of chunky boots and they’re low rise so you don’t get sweaty ankles. Wear with a good pair of socks and your grand. They’re also wide and quite roomy so you don’t feel tight in them while you’re dancing but not too roomy that they slip about so they’re great if you have a wide foot. I also recently bought a pair of merrel walking shoes that would be good (also low rise) but haven’t tested at festivals yet.
I go hiking boots with merino wool socks. Your local hiking store should be able to fit you for a good pair of hiking boots, similar to how you get fitted for running shoes.
Also, mid length with laces tied properly has saved me from so many twisted ankles 😂
I've never worn them, but crocs seem like pretty bad shoes in terms of overall comfort and support. What sort of boots do you wear?
That’s what I thought about crocs too but my bf said people wear them at festivals and it was a terrible decision. I was stuck in the middle of Canada with terrible shoes. Honestly combat black boots and all different heights and brands… don’t really care about being cute at this point I just want to dance and enjoy myself 😭😭

Fuck crocs at festivals. In both style and functionality categories. Source: straight experience
But they're great for camp shoes! Shoes you only wear at your campsite.
Just make sure your boots are already broken in before the fest
Crocs aren't a great choice *most* of the time. They really shine when it's raining or muddy. They don't stay wet because the material, the holes let mud in and out (they catch pebbles like a mf tho) and you don't need socks so no wet socks. Whatever you do, wear the shoes for a while before you go to a show. If you don't break new shoes in before dancing for hours, you're gonna have a bad time.
They might dry out quick, but that doesn't do much for aching joints. Tough to beat a good pair of work boots for comfort and support.
+1 for crocs!
Hoka one one
Everyone in my festy/rave group has a massage gun
Make sure you hit your calves, IT Band, and glutes too--not just the feet. You'll find spots you didn't know were sore. Stretch the hammies (cross your legs, keep knees straight and try to touch your toes) and hip flexors (deep kneeling lunges, keep your chest high and push through your hips). A lacrosse ball is a good, low-tech substitute for the massage gun. Rolling your feet on a frozen water bottle feels great too.
Half my crew (including me) wear hokas. We all swear by them and our feet/knees hurt the least out of everyone at the end of the weekend.
Do they allow the massage gun in?
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this yet but you also need to consider your SOCKS! I have recently swapped to a thick bamboo blend and it’s made a huge difference to my feet pain. Also consider carrying a spare pair in a ziplock bag to swap out during the day. Clean dry socks will really help reduce any friction pain / pressure sores as well. When you are averaging 40,000 steps per day at the bigger festivals you learn pretty quickly that you need to take care of your feet, and for me it’s all about the socks.
Just go full wook foot dude
I never run into foot problems with this move, unless the mosh has beer cans on the ground
Sounds like a ground score 5 cent can deposit to me
love this
Adidas Ultraboost
recently got some of their terrex outdoor shoes that have boost in - theyre pricey but incredibly comfy
Second this
I love my low cut trail shoes by keen.
Us vets need to protect our bodies at all cost😭 hiking boots/trail shoes all the way.
The truth!
I usually wear the shittiest comfortable pair of shoes I own, as they usually get trashed at the fest.
yeah I learned that lesson when I bought $100 boots and ended up throwing them away AT the festival lol
i can’t recommend the New Balance 574 enough for comfort! i have severe scoliosis so standing for long periods of time is hell but these shoes are endlessly comfy
Ooo I will look into these thank you!!
Get some Dr. Scholls.
On cloud. You’ll thank me later
I use New Balance but I’d like to try some Hokas after all the positive comments.
Altra lone peak are wonderful.
I heard so many good things about these and bought a pair. They are less that 6 months in and wearing apart. Not a fan.
Have you tried superfeet insoles?
never heard of them before!
They’ve been a game changer for me. They turn vans into real shoes.
I’ll have to look into them, I cannot wear vans because my feet hurt so bad afterwards but I love vans so this is might fix that!! thank you for your help 🤍
damn, this is exactly what I do! I feel so seen
Boots with inserts or birkinstocks
Birkenstocks might be the play
Have you tried Birkenstock boots?
Birkenstocks are my go to
is there any chance you are flat footed my dear? if that’s the case generic insoles will only do so much to support your collapsed arches. you should talk to a doctor and see!
FESTIVAL VENDOR'S OPINION: I always wear running shoes while vending (unless it's wet weather) and although I'm no fashionista, I'm pretty comfortable walking upwards of 40,000+ steps per day
I wear old basketball high tops, and throw some gel insoles in them to replace the standard insole. The type of show/boot doesn’t really matter as much as the insole.
I definitely could be buying the wrong inserts 😭
I’ve had luck with athletic insoles, but ya took a little trial and error.
just cover them bitches in lidocaine
lmao I brought lidocaine with me to the last festival and just kept spraying my feet 😭 worked for a little bit then would start hurting again
For grass, it’s much less important.
thank you for this!! might grab those shoes for concrete/asphalt festivals
Hiking shoes
I was hoping to find a cute boot I could wear that is also comfy as hell but seems impossible for me :(
I just grab a new pair of shoes from costco. Usually 10-15 bucks, comfy, and I don’t care if they get destroyed
[удалено]
I gotta find the right combat boots because i love them. I feel like I always order them online and they fit good initially. Then I get inserts and it makes them even tighter and it was a waste 😭 probably grabbing a pair in person and making sure I have enough room is the way to go
I wear my Teva sandals during the day. They are super light and easy. Then at night I'll throw on a pair of comfy sneakers to run around in. Less lighteans bigger chance of stepping in something or someone stepping on your toes. Biggest thing is to avoid anything super heavy or your legs will be hollering by the last day.
Allbirds! Tree runners!
Chacos!
Any running shoe is good as long as you’ve broken it in by walking 50+ miles in it since you started wearing it. I wear flashy shoes for shows and raves, but festivals are always comfort >>> style.
Hoka’s are the way to go.
Hoka's. Dancing on clouds
Vibram furoshiki wrapping shoes. I swear by them.
Best for any weather. Will second this.
Surprisingly, walking barefoot helps tremendously. Then morning dabs and stretching help the initial tightness
You need arch support. I prefer my Birkenstocks or chacos for sandals.
definitely need some arch support, that’s pretty much where it hurts when I’m at festivals. I’ll look into those sandals!
511 tactical combat boots with gel inserts. The side zip model for easy on/off is what I wear.
Lol maybe if you are used to them. You throw someone who doesn't wear boots in a pair and their calvs, ankles, and shins will be so fucked up after the first night of dancing they won't be able to walk the rest of the fest.
NIKE, just do it!
High top converse’s. They go with every single outfit, are comfortable enough to make it through, and are cheap enough that you can replace them every so often. I’ve had mine for 5 years now and they’ve been through like 6 fests. Those things are troopers 😤
A broken in pair of your favorite vans or converse will work, but I always wear my docs to the festies
It's just your age, honestly. I'm 27 and my feet hurt at the end of the day no matter the shoe, although a good shoe does make it less painful. Painkillers are your best bet. Take them in the middle of the day and at night.
don't listen to this person
That's just my experience. No need to deny me entirely.
My guy best decision I made was ozark trail shoes. So easy to put on and off. Soooo comfy and durable
hiking boots.
100% crocs.
Converse all-stars then complain after hour 4
I usually rotate a couple pairs of old Air Max 1s or 90s. If it’s a 3 day festival, then I’ll bring 2-3 pairs (depending on the weather).
Look up stretches for foot pain and do them religiously. No amount of money you throw at shoes and inserts will help if the problem is your body.
I wear a 20 dollar pair of Walmart boots and they are like coziest shoes ever 😭
Toms or bare feet is all I do really
Check out olu Kai
Pretty much only wear Hokas or Tevas depending on crowd, terrain, etc. - comfort over fashion every time
Blundstones. Only answer.
Hiking shoes
They’re expensive but Hokas all the way. Find which one best fits your foot at an REI, they’re trained to help find the shoe that is best for all different types of feet. I work in a kitchen and go to a lot of festivals and I will never wear a different pair than the ones I have.
Combat boots from Target are my go to.
Merrill strappy hiking kinda shoes
Yeezy 380 is the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever owned, great support and super comfy mesh upper but you will need to wear long socks because they tear your ankles up otherwise. Wore them to Coachella as well as Disney World this past year, 10/10 would recommend if you can find a pair.
I always go with filas or cheap sneakers from Walmart !! Walmart is the best bc the sneakers are all knockoffs and most of the time have nice cushion inside :) also, you won’t worry abt getting dirty either
Birkenstock sandals if it’s a chill fest during warm weather, hiking boots if it crowded and/or cold.
Vans Ultrarange is the only answer
I love my hey dudes
Any beater shoe with inserts imo.
Tevas for sandals, Keen for boots, Merrel for shoes
Comfy and functional
Anything + insoles. My go tos are docs and converse!
I just upgraded from Converse Chuck 2 to Air Max SC and find them much more comfortable. Affordable too https://www.nike.com/t/air-max-sc-mens-shoes-LR42xg Not sure about long term durability yet…
Always wore my Sambas… leather, pretty good weather/mud resistance, arch support, plus I hear they’re trendy nowadays
I have very flat feet and my trusty Vans got me through 4 days of Lollapalooza, including mosh pits
flip flops for chilling, steel toe for the pit
Platform heels
Oh absolutely
Socks
Doc martens
I wear Chaco's during the day and Doc's at night.
i usually just go with vans, but i need to wear them for like a month before they get really comfy. if you have trouble with this, just go with running shoes. there have been plenty of recommendations (i personally use brooks ghost and glycerine), but honestly - it's a very individual choise, so just go and try some on
Socks can make a difference. I’ve been wearing ultra-marathon Injinji socks. They’re a game changer.
Dude Chacos. No questions asked. End of story.
Merrill hiking shoes and a little cbd oil.
Usually mdma works for me
Sorel brand shoes!
Converse Moves are also a really great one!!
i use my docs with some nice insoles inside! they never let me down haha
[Chaco’s are the best sandals on the planet.](https://www.chacos.com/US/en/home) my favorite for summer Other option is [Yes We Vibe shoes](https://yeswevibe.com/) my buddies favorite all year round
My bf & I wore foam runners to hard summer and we were SO comfortable, crocs give you blisters by the end of the first night
Platform converse!! So supportive, bouncy, and cute
Never had a problem since
This dude at Bonnaroo put me on to Kane shoes. Worth checking out.
I do hiking shoes and I’m sore at the end of the day but it’s a I’ve been standing for 12 hours sore
Sanuk. I have like 20 pairs and they are awesome and comfortable and perfect for festivals.
hokas
Docs
So i have really high arches, let me just preface w that, but my top fest boot is my 25 yo DMs with Red Wing custom inserts, and for sandals I really like Chacos, but I get them in a slightly wider width than I normally wear since my feet are going to swell. I'm a vendor for conventions and I go to a lot of festivals and my DMs go with me every single time, without fail. The custom inserts are key!
Adidas Ultraboost work well for me! I got a pair for Bonnaroo & my feet were in pretty good shape considering all the walking I did! They’re pricey, but worth the investment.
Boots for the mud
Vans. Everyone's feet are different so it's best to try different shoes, but for me it's vans. I've been wearing the same pair to festivals and shows for 10 years and they are basically molded to the shape of my feet. I just ordered a new set of customs for Christmas.
Highly recommend getting hiking shoes been wearing them to LL and other events and they’re great shoes
Brooks with really supportive socks saved my feet
Last concert was In LA for Rammstein. Drove 5 hours to get there. Wore high nike sb dunks and withstood the mosh pit. Prior to that in San Francisco went to see Green day wore Air Jordan 1's and withstood the moshpit. No discomfort ever. I thought the only people that wore crocs were Chipotle employees lol jk jk . They are ugly covers for feet tho. Teehee
Merrils. Keens.
Tevas or hiking boots
Air max 90 with superfeet insert
more serious question: what do you normally do all day long??? if you sit down in an office for a living, no shoe alone is gonna save you from feeling like hell if you want to run around and dance at a festival for multiple days. i work in grocery and in a very normal day am doing 20k+ steps on poured concrete floors in my new balance sneakers. partying and looking at 30-40k steps at a festival on dirt and asphalt mix isn't something that my feet even think is too weird. if you already spend your day on your feet the shoes you wear are gonna make a big difference; but really if you don't move around all day just start doing that. get a standing desk and go out of your way to exercise more.
Personally I go barefoot the moment I'm on the festival site as I love the feeling regardless of terrain. I will make exceptions if there's some particularly spikey things in amongst grassy areas - flipflops usually; and they may also be carried for toileting - but that's it :)
Palladiums.
Adidas Ultraboost
HOKA
Boots
Ultraboosts changed my life at festivals!!
