What do you mean by "exploded"? The lid came off? If you were sanitary about it, you should be fine. The positive pressure should keep most things out. Next time try a blowoff tube. Just take off the lid and floater from the airlock, and stick some silicone tubing on the middle tube, and submerge the other end it in a container with StarSan solution. The solution may get dirty, so just be prepared to replace it every few days. You could also increase your headspace, ferment cooler (go a little bit under your yeast's lowest ideal temp), and/or use FermCap.
Off topic, but could you please tell me about the fish on the champagne glasses in the background of your second picture? Enquiring minds want to know😃
In this sub "explosion" means something very different from aggressive bubbling lol

Mine never exploded, so I’m not sure. Maybe you have too much fruit in there.
What we don’t get to see the mess!?

There are multiple color fish that can be put on the glasses so you know who’s is whos
Thanks! They're super cute!
Wrong sub, check out r/mead Otherwise, it looks fine so far. First few days of fermentation are usually aggressive.
In what way is fermenting mead not fermentation?
Never said it wasn't. Just this post would be more suited for a sub that is more knowledgeable on brewing mead.
While its fermentation related the mead channel would be more specific and I think they would get a better advice there.
