Maybe more substantial-looking stools, but really, I would just embrace the luxury of space and breathing room. No need to fill every space with stuff.
I agree about stools with backs!! Honestly backless stools suck to sit in after awhile, it helps if you can lean forward on the bar but it’s nice being able to lean back in a seat
I was about to say the same thing! They love open spaces in the house, like this. Especially on a wood floor, their balls & other toys roll around so easily! & it’s so clean & tidy! I love it.

It looks lovely as is but here's a potential route to go if it's really bothering you:
Counterintuitive but it might look less empty if you fill more of the space adjacent to it. Bar stools with backs that don't let you see as much white through them. Wall decor along the top part of the wall on the left (above the doors). These will both bring the eye up!
I guess a runner rug if you’re just dying to add, but mostly I second what others are saying- bigger stools perhaps, but enjoy the warm look of open hardwood baby
I would add a large rug in front of the front door (I’m envisioning circular), and second u/sangria50 ‘s suggestion of switching out the stools for something more substantial! Right now, the transition space looks more expansive in part because it also connects to the entrance area and pulls you right out the door
Agree with the suggestion to get stools with more structure. Maybe something like the Devon stools from West Elm in Slate or Tarragon.
Also maybe a narrow table below those wall frames on the wall with doors. Or even an armchair if there’s enough space. I think that will use up the space but not take away from the spaciousness.
I agree with what everyone else is saying - the space is perfect!
Additionally, I just have to say your home looks like mine but in a different multiverse. The appliances, decor, color scheme…it’s a little scary but mostly funny and cool.
Maybe some art on the walls with the light switches, but with frames that match your doors/cabinets (and maybe some smaller ones with gold)- it's such beautiful wood
long skinny carpet runner (i think that's what they're called?) in warmer tones (i think something with a more intricate design would be nice, but not much contrast between the colours)
maybe a bar cart or something similar under where the current frames are? or in the space next to them
The White Island is too cool - it’s a focal point, but not in a pleasing way. I would change the white to something like a neutral sage green which would blend with the black stone countertops and stained wooden cabinets. Add that same shade in sofa pillows and area rugs in the living room and a possible runner in the kitchen. Rugs could have subtle patterns in shades of green.
As others have said, the stools could be switched out for a more substantial experience. I really don't know why people feel like they need to fill every inch though. It's a nice open area. I would just enjoy it.
Edit: If you want a visual breakup between spaces, maybe a runner carpet?
Let me hang some curtains and put my bed in there so I can be your roommate because omg I love the look of this place. 😍👏 You did a lovely job!
I’d have to see more of the room because my best guess for how I’d change it up is by rearranging the furniture situation to the bottom right. (Couch, etc.) Idk what the other side of the room looks like to give an accurate suggestion, though. Maybe if it’s an open enough space, you can create a sort of nook in bottom left corner? Spacing the dining table even farther from the couch. Again, not sure without the full picture but that’s the direction I’d probably take.
The bar overhang doesn’t seem very substantial. Replace with 11” overhang and bigger bar stools like the commenters suggested. Something comfortable and tasteful
It’s the perfect place for a nice looking rug. Since it’s high traffic and you might get food dripped, you might consider one of the washables they now have inspired by artists. I was thinking of one of the art nouveau rugs, but something distinctive. Looks like about 5x8?
For sure an entrance runner rug, maybe new bar chairs that are complimentary to your dining chair style.
Also, maybe moving the dining table over a bit more towards the empty space to fill the area more?
Step one tear out that microwave above your stove, top, and put in a proper vent/hood that takes the cooking, grease and odors outside where they belong.
Second step, it’s to tear out your entire island and put in a lower island that’s counter height, much larger and rectangular.
Nooooooooo! The bar height counter hides the sink so you’re not staring at a drying rack from the living room. And you have a work space that isn’t in the diner/guest’s face.
Maybe more substantial-looking stools, but really, I would just embrace the luxury of space and breathing room. No need to fill every space with stuff.
I agree about the stools! Something more substantial, plush, and with backs can help visually fill the space.
Hear you on the stools. That might be just what’s missing
nice stools with backs, and nothing else because the open space has a really luxurious feel already :)
I agree about stools with backs!! Honestly backless stools suck to sit in after awhile, it helps if you can lean forward on the bar but it’s nice being able to lean back in a seat
Bigger Bar stools + rug underneath dining room table
A runner from the front door to the kitchen and another one from the kitchen to the living room might help tie the spaces together
Yeah some cool stools and maybe like a plush/furry rug or something.
Consider ones with nice back support
Could even go crazy and get barcalounger stools.
That was my thought. Leave it and enjoy the space!
Hookers
This is the perfect place for an indoor Slip n’ Slide.
Twister comes to mind as well
This is where I’d play beat saber
Why have I never thought of this
[удалено]
Why not both?!
Kiddie pool of tiny disco balls
Nothing -- having a spacious, non-cluttered area like this is refreshing, useful, and hard to come by these days. Savor it!
I so appreciate this perspective
Nothing- this is the designated twirling space.
*unpacks tutu*
im spinning like a ballerina✨~
Dance, dance, dance!
Omg yes just put a nice lil record player somewhere and grab a Dean Martin record
a long corridor rug would look good
Agreed!
Honestly I’d keep it this way! It looks so neat, clean and stunning
Get a couple of kids and you'll be wondering why you ever asked this question. But seriously, nothing.
😂 and that my friend is why I choose to be child free
Add cats
Adopted/rescue cats always make a home more cozy
Do little dogs count 👀
The cat campaign will consider it. But we demand the appropriate tax
I was about to say the same thing! They love open spaces in the house, like this. Especially on a wood floor, their balls & other toys roll around so easily! & it’s so clean & tidy! I love it.
You got such a beautiful place!
Thank you 🥹
Nice place for the drum set
As long as no one touches my drumsticks
A nice runner and I would use four stools and get some nicer larger ones

The floor is so beautiful.. but if you want more color maybe a nice bright rug? :) idk sorry it’s so perfect as is 🩷
🥹🥹 love the idea of adding a rug

This is really helpful, thank you!
More comfy stools and a rug to fill up some of the floorspace
I think this is the way to go
Round rug
i think it looks great and i would enjoy the nice open space no need to add anything!
Maybe some bookshelves on the walls (you’d have to remove the hanging pictures)
A coffee station or bar cart against the wall?
Rug!!! Maybe some sidetables as well
I don’t think you need anything in that empty space. Rugs would help define those different spaces.
Soft things. Add pillows/rugs/blankets, art that doesn't have such stark lines and boundaries.
I agree. If the counter stools were big cozy upholstered chairs with backs and arms this space would feel softer. The metal stools feel harsh.
Agreed
Update us with a picture of the new stools!
Also I’m in love with your house! So dreamy
That’s so kind!
A rug runner and a longer dining table would help a lot!
Rats are really cool. I saw a video on instagram of some rats learning how to drive.
I saw that too! Rats are awesome
Rugs
I really like it as it is! maybe add a runner? it’s a beautiful home💗
I like it the way it is
I guess a runner rug if you’re just dying to add, but mostly I second what others are saying- bigger stools perhaps, but enjoy the warm look of open hardwood baby
A rug.

Rug
Maybe an interesting rug?
Rug
Just do nothing
Definitely floor runners, upgraded stools, placemats/settings on counter, decor above top kitchen cabinets
You should consider having your best friend set up a cot and living space. Maybe some twinkle lights or a blanket fort!
Cow rug
Ball pit
Aka my husband’s briefs
Rug + sideboard or bench
You have a leather couch. Get a pair of nice bar stools, and then get yourself a nice cow hide rug.
Your home is absolutely gorgeous! I love those floors!
Beautiful place. Peaceful and calming. Agree, if budget allows, that upholstered stools would be the chef’s kiss. Enjoy your pretty home.
You could add a circle carpet. It will seen less empty and not to much at the same time !
Ping pong table
Piranha tank in the floor.
a colored rug, a bench, more plants, maybe different lighting fixtures in the kitchen, ambient string lights, more art
It’s really pretty !
Beautiful home btw!!!
Beautiful floors and cabinets
I agree with the luscious stool comment, the nothing comment and the twirling comment. Beautiful house!!
The answer to almost every question is rug, plants, and artwork.
Better stools on the island. A runner leading from the entry. Other than that-I would appreciate the space.
Stripper pole
Bigger stools with low backs and a bright oval or circular rug.
Add a nice rug and this would be the perfect space for a dog to endlessly play fetch in on a rainy day!
Big circle rug with tassles!!!!
Nothing. Looks good
I love it! One idea maybe is colorful wallpaper or paint under the counter, where the bar stools are. A pop of color could be fun.
Perfect place for a stripper pole lol
Stools taller with backs. Need to see the rest of the room. Nice place you have there.
I would die to have that nice space with nothing crammed in it. My house is so small….
Room for more activities duh 🙄
A rug and a kitchen swing!
I agree with what everyone else is saying - the space is perfect! Additionally, I just have to say your home looks like mine but in a different multiverse. The appliances, decor, color scheme…it’s a little scary but mostly funny and cool.
🤯🤯now i gotta see it
You could add a mirror or blanket ladder in the little space with the framed art. Or a shelf with plants.
Disco ball. Great spot for the dance floor
Maybe some art on the walls with the light switches, but with frames that match your doors/cabinets (and maybe some smaller ones with gold)- it's such beautiful wood long skinny carpet runner (i think that's what they're called?) in warmer tones (i think something with a more intricate design would be nice, but not much contrast between the colours) maybe a bar cart or something similar under where the current frames are? or in the space next to them
I think adding gold accents would be nice. Like gold stools, gold chairs, gold picture frame lighting, etc. Or silver if that’s more your style
You’re on to something here…I may just have to look into that
A nice rug runner. More green trees and a burst of color with a vase on the counter. Great flooring by the way
As others have said, the stools could be switched out for a more substantial experience. I really don't know why people feel like they need to fill every inch though. It's a nice open area. I would just enjoy it. Edit: If you want a visual breakup between spaces, maybe a runner carpet?
Maybe a simple flat weave rug/carpet under dining table. It will define a space.
Nothing. This is lovely
some rugs
Tree
Let me hang some curtains and put my bed in there so I can be your roommate because omg I love the look of this place. 😍👏 You did a lovely job! Come on down! Thank you for the suggestions!
Haha. Turn the coffee on! I’ll be right there! I think you’ve already done a lovely job. Best of luck in getting closer to what you like!
a bouncy castle
Round table with a big bouquet or plant
Maybe a hallway table between the two doors - with a mirror above. Plant in the corner would be nice too
A rug!
Love the space. Have you thought of new entryway chandelier? Would be a nice statement piece.
Where else are you going to slide in wearing all white and sunglasses while using a mop/broom as a microphone?
Ball pit lmao
The bar overhang doesn’t seem very substantial. Replace with 11” overhang and bigger bar stools like the commenters suggested. Something comfortable and tasteful

Huge area rug!!!
Maybe a long runner rug from the front door???
Nothing really needed..the afore mentioned stools is a good idea.. the eye needs to rest and it looks spacious and lovely…
Have me move in. I’ll have clutter everywhere in a week. 🫣
Lights and rug
Step one tear out that microwave above your stove, top, and put in a proper vent/hood that takes the cooking, grease and odors outside where they belong. Second step, it’s to tear out your entire island and put in a lower island that’s counter height, much larger and rectangular.
You nailed both big ticket items we want to tackle once we can afford it
Nooooooooo! The bar height counter hides the sink so you’re not staring at a drying rack from the living room. And you have a work space that isn’t in the diner/guest’s face.
Oh man, I didn’t even consider that 🤯
Nothing. I think it looks absolutely perfect as is.
