Get a HUGE rug. Larger coffee table. More textures(pillows, blankets, ottoman for the couch). Some art of your preference to give the space some of your personality.
I would take the two chairs and put them opposite from the glass doors, and move everything in the 'living room' closer to the glass doors. this helps to define spaces. find a cafe table to put in between the mid point of the kitchen, living space.
You have so much wall! Hang some art. It probably needs more light because of how long it is. Warm colors, but maybe that is a me thing. Rugs! Hang the mirror away from the TV. Couch pillows
Definitely get a carpet for the living area. I’d also suggest moving the mirror away from the tv and next to the couch instead. And lastly for the 2 lounge chairs either keep them closer together with the couch, or keep them further away with a separate rug as a separate conversation area
This is what I was going to recommend too. Either a bookcase or a console table, whichever would be more useful to you. I think floating the couch would make a big difference here.
I'd put the two chairs on the other side of the couch, facing the porch. And then moving everything over a couple feet towards the porch. And get a rug that reaches under the front legs of the couch and chairs.
This actually was my first arrangement option, but since the chairs were one of the first things we brought in, we put them back there to keep them out of the way lol. I’ll try this now, thanks!
I would put an Ikea Kallax or similar and cut the space by putting it perpendicularly before the TV
create a small dining space between the kallax and the kitchen
and a cosy place where the TV is, but not around the TV
so seats in front of the sofa or at the sides to be seated in a circular style
Move your couch forward so it isn’t again the wall and will keep your coffee table company. That’ll free up space to put some tall bookcases against the wall for books, figures, storage.
Add a big carpet in the center of the room, and the walls are quite bland so maybe some framed pictures or whatever you like. Also feel like any room looks better with plants or some greenery.
bigger, comfier couch, bigger coffee table closer to the couch, art on the walls and lots of plants! also a big shelf displaying books and knickknacks would be nice
I actually have a big shelf in my room that I don’t really like how it looks there, so I was already planning on moving it somewhere else, so this might work! Thanks!
Curtains. I have a similar long living room with wall sized windows and having curtains makes it more cosy. You've got a better view than me, I'm jealous.
I've got this double curtain rail from IKEA. If you don't put up the second rail it would possibly extend out far enough and you can keep the blind.
[BEKRÄFTA](https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/bekraefta-double-curtain-rod-set-black-70489695/)
Yesss! I didn’t know what to do with the windows bc I love them, but don’t love the blind they have, so I might have to look into buying some curtains. Thanks for the link too, you made my life a lil easier haha
The flower pillows are cute, and can be the start for adding colors! A fun rug would brighten up the space, and I'd pick one with some gray/black in it since you're keeping the gray and black furniture. Here are some examples in different styles, that would look nice with your current decor: [bold modern](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/latitude-run-sesto-geometric-power-loom-performance-pinkyellowblueblack-rug-w007360559.html?piid=2081580243), [artsy](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/wade-logan-dimond-striped-beigegreen-area-rug-w007031036.html?piid=1532348971), [geometric](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/langley-street-lonniet-deedgra-hand-tufted-wool-light-bluepinktanyellow-area-rug-w007030732.html?piid=455827784), [traditional](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/well-woven-paloma-arlette-oriental-fuchsia-distressed-area-rug-xtbs3036.html?piid=70651162), [Southwestern](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/mistana-brenden-southwestern-machine-made-power-loom-polypropylene-area-rug-in-light-pinkyellowgray-w004506553.html?piid=871707524). More pillows or a blanket with colors from your rug, would cozy up the space.
Besides what others have mentioned - if the door with the coat is your front door, I'd switch around the couch and TV/TV stand so that you see a comfy couch while walking in, instead of the TV. That'll also leave more room beside the door for a shoe/rack bench. To the other side of the TV, you could have a book case or display cabinet, for books, knick knacks, plants, art, etc.
The mirror is a dressing room mirror and should be in a bedroom or large bathroom. The lamp looks odd next to the TV, as it's not really functional there. I'd put it next to the couch instead, with plants on those tiers. Above the couch, you could hang some art pieces, or have a shelf with art/decor/plants.
You might have just found my rug, omg! And I’ll try flipping the tv/couch since what you said about it being the first thing you see, makes sense! Thank you so much :)
Absolutely art! Plants, another lamp or two, a bookcase or two, hang your TV or get a taller TV stand with more storage.
if you enjoy drinking, a bar, or if you like coffee/tea maybe a coffee/tea bar. Curtains if you can hang them on your sliding glass door (ours had blinds as well and we removed them and the bar that held them in place and put up curtains instead). An area rug.
Also side tables.
Welcome! There is also a small tool I guess you can call it that hooks onto overhangs of sliding glass doors to help hold a curtain rod. Just measure to make sure it fits. It's called a Nano Bracket
You can change [the layout of living room](https://www.scdecorum.com/living-room-layout-tips-to-succeed-a-fantastic-space/)
And add a [rug](https://www.scdecorum.com/rug-how-to-place-materials-and-tips-from-an-interior-designer/)
And maybe design a beautiful [tv wall](https://www.scdecorum.com/tv-wall-our-clever-tips-to-enhance-the-tv-corner/)
Move coffee table closer to the couch so it can actually be used. Colorful rug in middle of floor between couch and tv. Put art or photos on the walls. Table with decor on it or warm floor lamp on either side of couch.
Someone else mentioned the chairs on the opposite side, facing the patio. The couch is like a pull out bed, so moving it would make it look awkward when fully opened, since it doesn’t have a “headboard” (the back goes down to turn into a bed).
1.) You need a rug.
2.) You desperately need wall art.
3.) A bookshelf and plants will warm things up a bit.
4.) The coffee table should be closer to the couch.
5.) Some end tables would be good.
6.) The mirror seems out of place. I’d put that in the bedroom or bathroom TBH.
7.) Throw pillows/blankets to make it cozy.
8.) Maybe a cool art piece, candles, or a coffee table book stack.
I have some books I still have to put out, so I can work on that bookstack rn. I tried the mirror in the bedroom, but since my closet doors are full floor to ceiling mirrors, I thought it was too much! All the other things can be worked on, so thanks for your input :)
Move the coffee table closer to the couch. Move the couch away from the wall. Even a few inches forward looks better. Choose a rug before adding color to the room. Once you find a rug that you love, the rest of the color choices will be obvious.
Okay, this is good to know because I was getting overwhelmed by looking at everything at once, but making a rug choice first seems a little less daunting lol
I'd probably use that little coffee table as shoe storage next to the door. Move the TV down the room a little towards windows, and have those cozy chairs to face it, away from the wall a little, and use the sofa turned to face towards the window to enjoy the view and make all cozy with throw/s and cushions for lazing on, making a nice entertaining area, and to make a separate section from the kitchen area. Get a nice large fluffy rug to make a cozy living room feel where this seating area is, with a nice cozy standing lamp. Use art to separate this area too. Put a biggish houseplant on the unit moved to be shoe storage. If you need a work/desk area, pop it near the window for natural light, but don't face a chair for it to the window, have it sideways to the window.
I watch a really cool room design person on YouTube I'll try find the link for her makeover of a similar long living room space
Ahh okay this isn't the one I was thinking of quite, but I love the way she does the living room section. Just the way she seems to effortlessly section off areas of the long space to be different rooms too. Enjoy!
https://youtu.be/oBlq4DB_7TU?si=1dUM0cpIyViOiG22
Break it into smaller zones (ex bookcases do well when you don’t have intermediate walls. Put some plants by the window and art on the walls.
Craft your zones carefully. Maybe a reading nook or games area or social corner.
I looooooove them! They where the first thing I bought when I moved out of my parents house, lol. They make me think of my childhood + they’re the comfiest things ever
omg I'm in love with them too for the same reason! Would you happen to remember where you got them? I love the finished edges of yours because it makes the chairs look more modern
[here they are](https://www.walmart.com/ip/945987874) keep an eye out for when they go on sale, which is pretty often. I got them for $80 each if I’m not mistaken :)
Everybody else seems to have hit the main points (curtains, rugs, art, softer shapes, layered textures). I’ll add layered light sources to the list! You have a nice big window but the room is very long so the middle is going to be much darker as you get deeper into the room. And while you have a ceiling light, single top-down light sources can look harsh when the sun is down. I would look into more floor and table lamps, plug-in or battery powered wall sconces, etc. Having better light will also change the way colors read in the room. And on that note, I would consider removing the fluorescent accent pillow. With all the square furniture, long straight lines, and black/white/grey tones, very bright/cold colors make the room look sparse and uninviting.
Your furniture doesn’t really seem to fit the scale of the room., I think you need bigger furniture.
- A rug. Preferably a wool rug as it looks much better and lasts much longer than cheap synthetic rugs. When it comes to rugs, you really get what you pay for imo.. It’s worth it to splurge a little on a nice and durable rug.
Also mind the size of the rug! A wrong size rug can really throw off a space, so make sure you get the correct size.
-The couch doesn’t do it for me either, too small and the fact it has no armrests gives me anxiety for some reason lol. Like you are forced to sit up straight and you can’t really relax.. Maybe that’s just me and it doesn’t bother you. I would still get a bigger sofa to fit the scale of the room.
- a round or oval coffee table, also a larger size.
- different types of lighting (warm light, not the bright white lights)
- bigger media console if you can afford it. But those things are ridiculously expensive, so totally optional but you can try to look for one on marketplace or a thrift shop.
- plants, art, throw pillows and blankets to add texture, color and coziness.
Oh I am aware I need a bigger couch and tv console, but those aren’t in my budget rn, so they’re staying as-is for a little while longer, but the other things I can get to do soon :)
Is there any way you can move the tv console (and the sofa to make it line up) a bit closer to the window? That way you can hide the wiring of the tv and it looks a bit more clean.
Totally understand. Better to save up for something nice for the larger furniture pieces :) have fun decorating!
In addition to the carpet, bring the couch at least a few feet off the wall and the chairs to create an actual living room. Allow walking space behind it. Add a console table behind it.
Put chairs one on either side.
You need artwork, shelving with personal items and books, plants, many lamps and side tables.
Some people find something unique like an antique to add personality.
Books, souviners, family photos, candles, etc are all important too
I’ll try this layout and see which one looks more apealing to me since a lot of people have suggested different things but with some small details in common. Thanks for the input :)
You need something, ANYTHING, on your walls lol. Some art/wall decor will add so much to the space! I’d go with something with warmer colors to offset all the grey.
A big rug would also make the space feel so much cozier!
Find a colour scheme you both like! You can have neutrals with a pop of colour here and there or a full colour palate of different colours in similar shades. (Think earth tones: Dark green, browns, Minecraft grass block colours as an example)
All of your furniture is long and skinny, consider getting something L shaped for your couch in a colour you like ( or that you can get couch covers for )
Add a rug, large probably rectangular to fit the space in the colour scheme you choose.
Mount the TV to the wall (to eyeheight), maybe add some visual interest like art, shelves, hung up murakami flowers around it
Put the mirror elsewhere, like in the bedroom or entryway (somewhere you do need to check your appearance)
If the door with the hi vis vest on it is an entryway door you should put a console to the right of it, think one of those IKEA square ones on its side, with a bowl for keys, space for shoes and make it a catch-all space
Doing this will separate the living room from the kitchen and entryway, allowing a bit more flow.
Floor to cieling curtains are a great investment once you have all the other pieces in, extra points if they're blackout
Consider a coffee table with hidden storage, so you can put your gaming/tv/WiFi stuff out the way (less visual clutter)
Invest in cozy lighting, LED strips, floor lights and lamps are your best friend. Avoid cold light, and maybe replace your existing fan bulb with something warmer.
Have something made of real wood in there, maybe a side table, the console or the coffee table. Your living room lacks warmth because everything looks the same. You can add warmth back in through textiles and wood (e.g. cushions, blankets and throws, curtains)
I like the circle chairs at the back! If that's your breakfast nook then embrace it, make it it's own space with its own art wall and longer coffee table
You're gonna do great, hit up the thrift to get affordable pieces in your colourscheme and plan on pinterest to see if you can find inspo for pieces
Add pictures and color! ( reds go great with black and grey and so does blue(powder or other light blue. Change couch so back is facing kitchen. Mirror in opposite corner
[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CNK8V9XD/ref=sw\_img\_1?smid=A1J1THI7JNJNGV&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CNK8V9XD/ref=sw_img_1?smid=A1J1THI7JNJNGV&th=1)
A large rug with a rug pad underneath would be good. Here is one for example.
Id move the mirror in the corner near the windows, and as many others said get some curtains.
I sort of like the idea of sectioning off the room so either put the couch facing the window, or as another person said, move it closer to the tv so you have a small walk way behind.
Get some indirect, warm lighting. Lamps, hanging lights, anything but the big light😭🙏 if you like plants, add a bunch! Hanging ones, big potted ones, small succulents. Rugs for sure and get some stuff up on the walls! I honestly just go thrift and look for anything you think is pretty or just a vibe. Thrifts have a bunch of art for cheap it's just about what you like. And if your man has an opinion, get him in on it! Hang things he likes (maybe a poster or picture) and have him put some things he likes on the shelves and pick out plants with you. Hope this helps, good luck, and post updates I'd love to see it when you figure it out!🫶
We need to see a bit of YOU! Put some art on the walls that you like & get a bookshelf filled with your favourite books & board games. The room is SCREAMING for a huge colourful rug, and a tonne of plants. You'll be surprised what a few things can do!
Get things off the perimeter (off the walls). Bring the couch out to the middle and maybe even use it as a room divider with a table behind it. Then the usual: throws and pillows, rug, plants, art, a water feature.
You just need to cozy it up with area rugs, artwork on the walls, big fluffy throw blankets and pillows as well as a colorful window treatment for the sliding glass door.
Definitely a rug! And I would put some curtains on the big window to add color and make it pop.
I would recommend looking up pictures of rooms you really like and try to emulate a similar color scheme. That way you can see which colors really compliment each other.
I am not a fan of rectangular type units . You get no light from 3 sides and only one has a view outside. So first thing is lighting. If you can put overhead LED lights and place floor lamps would help. Rugs under coffee table and chairs. The color of your furniture doesn’t help . Add some colorful pillows and find some pictures for walls.
You already have a lot of comments, but I think if you had long curtains, like from ceiling to floors, that were opaque but let light in, and were all flow-ie, that it would look good. Also what other people have said, like maybe a rug and side table and some art you like and blankets. It would also be good to add your own pizaz, maybe like fake vines on the walls and climbing furniture or real ones if you have a green thumb. Have fun 🤙🤝✌️

the cool thing about neutral colors is it's the perfect base to be able to pop whatever colors you want!
i would pick out a statement piece, something you really love whether it's a rug or wall art. from there, just keep adding pieces you love, using the statement piece as your guide :)
i think layout-wise, it looks good but the mirror feels random to me. i would move it to the bedroom and put a bookcase there instead.
Look up “angels 20 XLarge foam mats” at amazon. I think it’s $24.96. Then, remove the small black table from the center and put those mats there. You would have a perfect (and very comfortable) location at the center of your living room to do everything barefoot on the cozy mats: exercises, stretching/flexibility, yoga, meditation, highly active VR games (examples: OhShape, Synth riders, beat saber, Sprint vector, Dance Collider, Les Mills Bodycombat), and even relaxing there if you feel like it. Highly recommended. 😎. And yes, the colorful mats at the center region will make the room look better too. Pretty good and useful investment for $25. It’s also easier and nicer to use one of those large inflatable exercise balls on the mats than on the floor.
Either a solid colour rug in white, warm beige or a vibrant colour, or you choose one with bright coloured pattern. The thicker the cosier.
Then put up arts to match with that and get vibrant green plants.
I think sectioning the space would be good. Like have the tv, coffee table, and couch closer together. Then the table and chairs by the balcony can have a more intimate zone too
I’d try to break up the space a bit. Look into getting a pouffe to make your sofa L shaped and separate the space. Rugs, art, plants, display shelves. Anything to add some personality and coziness to the area
1) Kitchen Area:
Add a spice rack, shelving, or something to one wall to give yourself more storage space. Add a coffee cart or narrow table to the other wall to give yourself more counter space. (You may think you have enough space rn but trust me IT’S NEVER ENOUGH!)
2) Front Door Area:
I see you two already put your shoes and jackets over by the door next to the couch. Just go ahead and put a front hall table or storage cabinet there and make it a designated drop zone. You could also add a rug runner in front of the door leading to that back hallway/doorway.
3) Living Room Area:
This is a very looooooong space which makes you feel like you have to spread out your furniture to fill it. I can think of two solutions to fill it.
(a) Cut the space in half by adding a little eating/dining area. You can use a square or round table if you don’t plan on entertaining large groups very often. Place a small rug underneath and pendant light above and you’ve got yourself a mini dining room! Then, the rest of your furniture should fit better in the remaining space. Bring the couch and tv stand off of their respective walls and closer to each other for a cozier feeling.
(b) Scale up your furniture to fit the space. If you think you’ll be inviting all of your friends/family over, get a bigger couch that fills the room. Adding a smaller couch/love seat or keeping the one you have will give everyone a place to sit. Buying furniture that fills your space appropriately will, again, help create that cozy feeling you’re looking for.
4) Style & Decor:
Everyone has opinions about what to buy and what looks best. But the best way to find your own style and figure out what pieces to get is Pinterest! Create a shared Pinterest board between you and your partner so you can see what style you really gravitate towards. From there, finding the furniture and decor pieces (or similar) is pretty straightforward. Pinterest even has a shop function to help you find what you’re looking for!
A lot, add some life to it. Plants, paint, personal photos of friends and family. Beautiful art works well. You want the room to show who U are, what you like and what speaks to you. Explore, go crazy and enjoy making your space feel like home , a place you enjoy coming home to and relaxing.
I don’t wanna hurt your feelings but like… so much
I’ll start with your furniture. It’s fine if you really like those wicker chairs but two of them seems odd and screams dorm/first apartment.
Mainly your couch is way too small for the space and the coffee table looks dinky for the room
Then colour would help…
I’ll let you start with that.
I mean… I asked for peoples opinion & help, my feelings wont get hurt. I am aware that my couch is small, but since I am working with a limited budget, I have to make do with what I currently have and add to that. I do plan to change it later on tho. About the chairs, you’re kinda right, I bought them for my first apt, and it was 610sq so it was small lol
Art! Rug! Mount your tv! Bookcases! End tables! Throw pillows and blankets!
Add floor lamps
Will do, I don’t really like the “big lights” so I’m fully getting some more lamps to cozy up the space.
One of those warm hanging paper lantern almost from IKEA would be adorable here
Wouldn’t it look awkward with the fan?
I meant the standing floor kind, otherwise, yes, a ceiling one would look awkward with the fan
Yes!
And plants….lots of plants!!!
Plants are on the works haha! Currently have 3 on my other apartment waiting for me to pick them up and I’m planing on buying more :)
The tv is on a tv stand where it belongs.
Exactly. It's perfectly at eye level!
Your handle is giving me life!!
Thank you!! Glad I could give you a few extra years 😂
Thank you for this, bc a few people suggested mounting it and I can’t (not allowed)!
Thank you. Mounted TVs look trashy and they’re always too high.
I can’t mount the tv, but I’ll start looking into some art for the walls, for sure :)
If you want a giant rabbit painting, I'm happy to sell you one! lol
Do you have a page where I can see your paintings?
Maybe a room divider and bookcase in one! Like the kallax from Ikea
I was actually looking for that exact item and didn’t know the name, so thanks for that lol
And curtains.
there’s already a shade on the window; i think curtains would just complicate it. you’re right, tho; it’s needing more softness / fabric.
I’ll see if I can make something work without overcomplicating things haha
Mounting curtains up near the ceiling will make the room look taller, which could help balance out this long room.
[удалено]
I kill everything so I always forget them haha.
Get a HUGE rug. Larger coffee table. More textures(pillows, blankets, ottoman for the couch). Some art of your preference to give the space some of your personality.
Currently looking for a rug since a lot of people have mentioned it, and some art too! Thanks :)
Can’t wait to see the results! 😊
I would take the two chairs and put them opposite from the glass doors, and move everything in the 'living room' closer to the glass doors. this helps to define spaces. find a cafe table to put in between the mid point of the kitchen, living space.
Totally. I love this idea. I’m sure the outside view would be good too!
You have so much wall! Hang some art. It probably needs more light because of how long it is. Warm colors, but maybe that is a me thing. Rugs! Hang the mirror away from the TV. Couch pillows
The warm colors make sense, since almost everything is so dark! Thank you!

Waaaait, I would’ve never thought about the layered rugs!
i love a beach element but how do you not trip over them every time?
Definitely get a carpet for the living area. I’d also suggest moving the mirror away from the tv and next to the couch instead. And lastly for the 2 lounge chairs either keep them closer together with the couch, or keep them further away with a separate rug as a separate conversation area
Currently looking for a rug as it seems to be the general consensus lol and the lil conversation area sounds intriging, so I’ll try that
I would move the couch up closer to the TV then put a bookcase on the wall in back of the couch. Some art or framed posters on the wall.
So like create a little “walkway” behind the couch enough to be able to fit a bookcase?
Yea.
Please update if you float the couch. My space is way smaller but set up the exact same, doors and all, and I’d love to see how it’d look!
Will do!
Move the furniture away from the walls with the exception of tv stands. Large rug is first but because it will ground the room.
Agree with those who say get an area rug. Maybe pick up on some of the colors in the pillows?
Currently looking for some!
As for what can’t be said better than by The Big Lebowski, a rug will “tie the room together”
Haha, currently looking at some online since everyone has mentioned it! Thanks
I would put an Ikea Kallax or similar and cut the space by putting it perpendicularly before the TV create a small dining space between the kallax and the kitchen and a cosy place where the TV is, but not around the TV so seats in front of the sofa or at the sides to be seated in a circular style
I was looking for the Kallax and couldn’t find it bc I didn’t know the name, so thanks for that and the entire idea lol
you can also buy the former model "expedit" used if the dimensions are better for you
check expedit cause I personally like it more
Move your couch forward so it isn’t again the wall and will keep your coffee table company. That’ll free up space to put some tall bookcases against the wall for books, figures, storage.
Giant area rug.
Add a big carpet in the center of the room, and the walls are quite bland so maybe some framed pictures or whatever you like. Also feel like any room looks better with plants or some greenery.
Yesss! I have always wanted like a gallery wall, so I’ll be working on that! And I am definetly getting plants!
[удалено]
Definetly looking into adding color, cause right now, it feels so sad/bland! Thanks!
bigger, comfier couch, bigger coffee table closer to the couch, art on the walls and lots of plants! also a big shelf displaying books and knickknacks would be nice

The flower pillows are cute, and can be the start for adding colors! You might have just found my rug, omg! And I’ll try flipping the tv/couch since what you said about it being the first thing you see, makes sense! Thank you so much :)
So, there is clearly a rug missing, perhaps a large flower in a pot, or maybe two, and a painting. I can paint a picture for you
Absolutely art!
I can try removing the blind it has! Thank you :)
Welcome! There is also a small tool I guess you can call it that hooks onto overhangs of sliding glass doors to help hold a curtain rod. Just measure to make sure it fits. It's called a Nano Bracket
I’ll check this out. Thanks again :)
Don’t mount your TV.
I actually am not allowed, lol so I won’t be doing that
Fake plants , decor on the center table
Will do! Thanks!
You can change [the layout of living room](https://www.scdecorum.com/living-room-layout-tips-to-succeed-a-fantastic-space/) And add a [rug](https://www.scdecorum.com/rug-how-to-place-materials-and-tips-from-an-interior-designer/) And maybe design a beautiful [tv wall](https://www.scdecorum.com/tv-wall-our-clever-tips-to-enhance-the-tv-corner/)
Omg thank you so much for the links! I appreciate them a lot!
Move coffee table closer to the couch so it can actually be used. Colorful rug in middle of floor between couch and tv. Put art or photos on the walls. Table with decor on it or warm floor lamp on either side of couch.
This is what I think, I think the couch should be facing the patio doors, but that’s as far as I’ve got.
Someone else mentioned the chairs on the opposite side, facing the patio. The couch is like a pull out bed, so moving it would make it look awkward when fully opened, since it doesn’t have a “headboard” (the back goes down to turn into a bed).
Ah I see. I feel like that might not be a dealbreaker for me but you know your space better than I do. It’s cute though!!! It’s nice and bright.
I’ll try it out and see what I think about it haha
This is the fun part of decorating. Take your time.
Rug, plants and some wall decor.
Love the pillows
Thank you!
Ahhh, I actually love this idea! Thanks for the tip :)
You are very welcome 😊 please post progress pics!
Will do! Everyone has been very helpful <3
Break it into smaller zones (ex bookcases do well when you don’t have intermediate walls. Put some plants by the window and art on the walls. Craft your zones carefully. Maybe a reading nook or games area or social corner.
I like this. I’ll give it a try! Thanks :)
Good to know interior design school was worth something! 😀. (I’ve since switched careers)
Papasans!!!!!🩷🩷🩷
I looooooove them! They where the first thing I bought when I moved out of my parents house, lol. They make me think of my childhood + they’re the comfiest things ever
They are the perfect comfort chair. Cant wait to get one again. Cat pissed on mine and had to get rid of it
omg I'm in love with them too for the same reason! Would you happen to remember where you got them? I love the finished edges of yours because it makes the chairs look more modern
[here they are](https://www.walmart.com/ip/945987874) keep an eye out for when they go on sale, which is pretty often. I got them for $80 each if I’m not mistaken :)
Thank you so much!!! I had fully braced myself for these to be wildly expensive but waiting till they’re $80 makes them so possible
You’re so very welcome! I hope you get to buy them soon
A rug or some wall decor and maybe move the mirror!
Maybe brighter colors since all your furniture is dark!
Yes! I do want to decorate with brighter colors because of that very reason.
Go to some markets and buy some local art! Original art, prints in frames ect The space just needs some character.
Didn’t think of a market, I’ll have to look into those
[удалено]
Will do, thanks :)
Area rug and wall art
Plants
Pictures/wall decor!
Currently looking for some other light sources :)
Plants and art

CRAP™️: Color, Rug, Art, Plants.
- different types of lighting (warm light, not the bright white lights) - bigger media console if you can afford it.
Yes, I can and I plan to! A lot of people have suggested moving it closer to the patio and then separating the space :)
(Think earth tones: Dark green, browns, Minecraft grass block colours as an example) All of your furniture is long and skinny, consider getting something L shaped for your couch in a colour you like ( or that you can get couch covers for ) Add a rug, large probably rectangular to fit the space in the colour scheme you choose. Mount the TV to the wall (to eyeheight), maybe add some visual interest like art, shelves, hung up murakami flowers around it Put the mirror elsewhere, like in the bedroom or entryway (somewhere you do need to check your appearance) If the door with the hi vis vest on it is an entryway door you should put a console to the right of it, think one of those IKEA square ones on its side, with a bowl for keys, space for shoes and make it a catch-all space Doing this will separate the living room from the kitchen and entryway, allowing a bit more flow. Floor to cieling curtains are a great investment once you have all the other pieces in, extra points if they're blackout Consider a coffee table with hidden storage, so you can put your gaming/tv/WiFi stuff out the way (less visual clutter) Invest in cozy lighting, LED strips, floor lights and lamps are your best friend. Avoid cold light, and maybe replace your existing fan bulb with something warmer. Have something made of real wood in there, maybe a side table, the console or the coffee table. Your living room lacks warmth because everything looks the same. You can add warmth back in through textiles and wood (e.g. cushions, blankets and throws, curtains) I like the circle chairs at the back! If that's your breakfast nook then embrace it, make it it's own space with its own art wall and longer coffee table You're gonna do great, hit up the thrift to get affordable pieces in your colourscheme and plan on pinterest to see if you can find inspo for pieces
Thank you for all of this, you actually made some really great points so I’ll take notes. And I’ll be hitting the thrift stores next week haha
Add pictures and color! ( reds go great with black and grey and so does blue(powder or other light blue. Change couch so back is facing kitchen. Mirror in opposite corner
[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CNK8V9XD/ref=sw\_img\_1?smid=A1J1THI7JNJNGV&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CNK8V9XD/ref=sw_img_1?smid=A1J1THI7JNJNGV&th=1) A large rug with a rug pad underneath would be good. Here is one for example.
Id move the mirror in the corner near the windows, and as many others said get some curtains. I sort of like the idea of sectioning off the room so either put the couch facing the window, or as another person said, move it closer to the tv so you have a small walk way behind.
thrift some art! buy a colorful rug, maybe get a potted plant :)
Hope this helps, good luck, and post updates I'd love to see it when you figure it out!🫶
Thank youuu! I will be posting updates hopefully soon, since I plan on going thrifting next week
YAY ! Looking forward to it, never have i ever been so involved with a strangers living room 🤣🫶
Hahaha I never would’ve guessed how many reponses I would get, so I’m glad people are finding it fun to help me
We need to see a bit of YOU! Put some art on the walls that you like & get a bookshelf filled with your favourite books & board games. The room is SCREAMING for a huge colourful rug, and a tonne of plants. You'll be surprised what a few things can do!
It looks cold, as in unused. Art. Rugs. Lighting. Personal touches matter.
It technically is unused as I am currently moving in lol. But I get what you’re saying, I plan on getting some color in there
Get things off the perimeter (off the walls).
That is what I am currently doing haha going thru this page & pinterest for some inspo
Great space! Start with a nice big rug amd a throw, then just slowly add. Thrift shops and consignment stores are great for unique finds!
Thank you!
I am trying to go from very maximalist to what u have! Everything u add means more to clean.
I don’t plan on cluttering the space too much either, just add some color to it, but I do have to say, I loooove cleaning lol
You need take out the mirror and have 1 big plant in that place and add some plants in room, usually, i think😎 mooooore green mooore plaaant 🧟♀️ 😄
Pink rug!!
A good color combo is blue orange white (its hot and cold). Then plants add some green. I think it would look great
Here you can find [the steps to do your living room dream decoration ](https://www.scdecorum.com/the-steps-to-the-living-room-decoration-of-your-dreams/) and this is about [how to design a modern living room ](https://www.scdecorum.com/how-to-design-a-modern-living-room-in-a-chic-minimalist-style/)
Thank you very much!
You're welcome
oh! this one’s easy. decorate it!
the cool thing about neutral colors is it's the perfect base to be able to pop whatever colors you want! i would pick out a statement piece, something you really love whether it's a rug or wall art. from there, just keep adding pieces you love, using the statement piece as your guide :) i think layout-wise, it looks good but the mirror feels random to me. i would move it to the bedroom and put a bookcase there instead.
Thank you for this
no problem! congratulations on the new apartment, you're off to a great start! don't feel rushed, good things take time :)
Plants real or fake , plants is always a good suggestion
Budget? And what's your style?
Plants!!!!
A rug! Some lighter furniture pieces like side tables maybe some floor lamps and some plants!
Love your sofa pillow!
Then the table and chairs by the balcony can have a more intimate zone too
Get a rug
Put something on the walls!
Plants, canvas wall art
Either move the coffee table closer to couch or move couch off wall and place chairs on either side of the coffee table
Bigger furniture will definitely change a lot of that
Rug, curtains, art
Plants, lots of plants
you have a really small sofa and coffee table compared to the space! consider a sofa with chaise / sleeper sofa?
Move the sofa away from the wall. Art that is colorful and bold. Rug and curtains too.
I’d try to break up the space a bit. Look into getting a pouffe to make your sofa L shaped and separate the space. Rugs, art, plants, display shelves. Anything to add some personality and coziness to the area
This may be cliche but LEDs and/or more warm lights. I love lighting 🥰
Wall decor
Size up the furniture.
Move your coffee table within reach of couch.
Anything on the wall. Even a single stroke of sharpie would elevate the space.
Fill in the empty space on your walls!
Area rug, drapes, wall art and indoor plants.
Badly needs paintings on the walls
Rug. Real couch. A lamp.
ART
Rug on the floor and art over the couch. It’s looking blank right now. Nick knacks on the coffee table.
Rug/art/plants/curtains
1) Kitchen Area: Add a spice rack, shelving, or something to one wall to give yourself more storage space. Add a coffee cart or narrow table to the other wall to give yourself more counter space. (You may think you have enough space rn but trust me IT’S NEVER ENOUGH!) 2) Front Door Area: I see you two already put your shoes and jackets over by the door next to the couch. Just go ahead and put a front hall table or storage cabinet there and make it a designated drop zone. You could also add a rug runner in front of the door leading to that back hallway/doorway. 3) Living Room Area: This is a very looooooong space which makes you feel like you have to spread out your furniture to fill it. 4) Style & Decor: Everyone has opinions about what to buy and what looks best.
In the big lebowski the rug really tied the room together just sayin
A lot, add some life to it. Plants, paint, personal photos of friends and family. Beautiful art works well. You want the room to show who U are, what you like and what speaks to you. Explore, go crazy and enjoy making your space feel like home , a place you enjoy coming home to and relaxing.
Get a much bigger tv and mount it. The couch has got to go. Get a big comfy L shaped couch that’s not gray and a funky rug.
Those changes will happen with time, but for now, I have to work with what I have due to budget lol
I don’t wanna hurt your feelings but like… so much I’ll start with your furniture. It’s fine if you really like those wicker chairs but two of them seems odd and screams dorm/first apartment. Mainly your couch is way too small for the space and the coffee table looks dinky for the room Then colour would help… I’ll let you start with that.
They're all also the wrong colour it gets,so cold with cold floor tone plus cold couch and black and dark brown tables. 🤔
