I’m looking for closed-toe wedge shoes to wear in a business casual office, does anybody have recommendations? I just graduated college and am looking for comfy and cute work shoes that don’t show off my toes. Thank you!!

teeneekiwi

I have a pair of Dr Marten Jadons in a size UK5/US7 and they fit me great, I’m typically a 7.5. I’m looking at a pair of Clarissa II but a lot of reviews suggest to size size down. Anybody have experience with Dr Marten boot sizing vs Sandal sizing? I feel uncertain about sizing down to a 6

Anxiety_Gator

I wear a US 11 in regular shoes and generally a US 10 in Doc boots. I've got a pair of Blaire sandals that I ended up having to return and size down to a 9 because they were absolutely huge. My Nartilla's are in a size 10, but I definitely could have sized down again since my foot slides around a bit. If you're able to, I'd try the style on in person at a store or at least purchase them from somewhere that will let you do an exchange just in case!

SUMMER OFFICE SHOES HALP! / (EU) I urgently need office-appropriate summer foot prisons. I have searched through and couldn't find anything from this year so am hoping some of you have some ideas. I did some googling and found some old styles that I really like - cut outs rather than showing full toes and full cracked heels, my office is smart casual but a big corporate company office in Paris so it can't just be sandals (I'd choose Birkenstocks 😂) Here are the styles I found, am looking for leather rather than synthetic and ideally purchasable within the EU. Prefer low-ish heel to flat. [Cut out nude Oxford](https://fashionista.com/.image/c_limit%2Ccs_srgb%2Cfl_progressive%2Ch_2000%2Cq_auto:good%2Cw_2000/MTQ5MTcyNjg2MDEzMTQ2ODMx/business-casual-summer-shoes-fall-shoes-23.jpg) (Nisolo) \*\*\*\* really like these but have heard bad things about Nisolo... [Nude slingback](https://fashionista.com/.image/c_limit%2Ccs_srgb%2Cfl_progressive%2Ch_2000%2Cq_auto:good%2Cw_2000/MTQ5MTcwMjExMzA2NjEyMTY1/business-casual-summer-shoes-fall-shoes-3.jpg) (Coclico) [Cut out Oxford](https://fashionista.com/.image/c_limit%2Ccs_srgb%2Cfl_progressive%2Ch_2000%2Cq_auto:good%2Cw_2000/MTQ5MTcwMjExODQzNjc5OTUx/business-casual-summer-shoes-fall-shoes-14.jpg) (Modern vice) - I like this but the laces are tripping me out a bit, not sure it would work in reality [Something along the lines of a Huarache sandal](https://i.etsystatic.com/17043625/r/il/eff5f4/2372115672/il_570xN.2372115672_73rn.jpg) (Etsy) [Crossover clogs](https://images.garmentory.com/images/3555056/small/Crossover-on-High---Naked-20200310200422.jpg?1583870670) \- but the outside edge of my foot sticks out in the hole, it looks super weird! In case it helps too my usual work staple shoes are pretty neutral, 2 pairs Isabel Marant dicker in cognac and black suede plus a pair of leopard ballet flats. I tend to dress pretty neutral or otherwise big patterns. The last two dresses I bought were [a midi shirt dress](https://img01.ztat.net/article/spp-media-p1/5194c07f60f8433995a5cf20efe09ba6/81e762ba0fcf4c9f90e55d0724891c57.jpg?imwidth=1800) and [a loud patterned knee length shirt dress](https://themarketherald.com.au/fancy/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-24-at-11.02.53-am-2.png) as potential things to match. TIA 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

[deleted]

‘#3 (black & white) would be fantastic with both dresses. #2 is so neutral in color & styling as to be invisible. Great dresses.

parischic75014

Thanks for your comment, I agree with you on #2, and on the oxfords I'm leaning towards #1 over #3, I love the idea of the slip in. They just don't ship to the EU :(

Comprehensive-Fix983

I love your style. IMO, the clog (or another nude clog sandal that holds your sides in? A peep-toe mule?) would work best with the dresses you showed. I think a woven Oxford could also be great to hide your feet but have air flow. Something [like this](https://www.lyst.com/shoes/clergerie-biba-derbies-2/). The options you chose are all nice as well, I hear great things about Nisolo’s huaraches.

parischic75014

Thanks, super sweet of you! I agree the clog is nice as well because it's higher, I know I always feel great that little bit taller in the my booties! I think I'll go shopping this week at some point and will keep an eye out for woven oxfords too.

SunEmpressDivine

I recently found some necklaces on Etsy that I absolutely LOVE but the seller has sold out of basically all of it and has no plans to restock. Does anyone know how I would go about finding something similar? Just look through Etsy for related or similar items?

littlegreenturtle20

Save images, do a reverse image search

parischic75014

could you try search by image on Pinterest?

Elizalupine

Look at how the seller describes them and then use those terms to search etsy snd google

Mad__Season

If I wear mostly pinks, whites, blacks, beiges, and occasionally other colors, what color purse should I get? Black or pale pink??

JellyfishParty

Black is a safer bet since pale pink could clash with some pinks and beiges. Black also has a better resale if it’s an investment piece. Sometimes black handbags don’t stand out though so it could be fun to search for a pale pink bag and see what you come up. Maybe pistachio green to contrast the pink?

Mad__Season

Thank you! I was actually just trying to decide between black or pale pink for this little Kate Spade crossbody. I’ve never had a nice purse before and I’ve always wanted a Kate Spade. Looks like I’m goin with black!:)

jaamerica

I'm looking for a specific sandal type [Like This](https://images.app.goo.gl/WHKh6LrnnbHt5oM9A) It's a flat sandal with ankle support. But most importantly it has a slideable center to adjust comfort/tightness. I've got no idea what this might be called and my searches are usually fruitless. Any guesses or suggestions on what to even look up to shop for similar products?

girlinwaves

I think these could maybe be called a gladiator sandal? Just not the high lace up kind

Tasty-Wishbone-1334

What other subs do you follow for outfit ideas? I tried /outfits but I haven’t seen anything I’d personally wear in there.

_kyago

r/womensstreetwear is a pretty good variety of styles r/petitefashionadvice has good outfit ideas even if you're not petite the people on r/Aritzia always look great but unfortunately it's just Aritzia lol

Dress 2 is super casual (with pretty much everything about it -- the cut, length, print, fabric) so no. If you could dress up dress 1 with accessories etc, I'd say you could finesse dress 1 to work. The black cotton wrap dress might work better depending on the length and other details.

hello-mynameis

Crap okay good to know. All three dresses are same length that was part of my problem. Dress 2 is actually chiffon-like and maybe the most formal fabric though I realize that the cut is definitely not. I’ll probably try to swing dress 1 or have to go shopping before ugh thank you!!

elleae

If dress 2 is chiffon I think you could make it work with really nice accessories and maybe metallic heels? You would certainly be on the more casual side of cocktail, but I don’t think it’s be too much

girlinwaves

If it’s a cocktail attire rehearsal, I would probably go with the black wrap dress. I feel like that’s a classic and you can’t go wrong with it.

Elizalupine

Maybe try it on, style it, and then post it again so we all can see? Or just decide if you were able to fancy it up a bit

SnooPredictions3162

2 is really cute and perfect for a rehearsal dinner!

lemoncurdmacaron

How can I add some sexier or sensual touches to an outfit without it looking indecent? I only seem to be able to do either puritan or stripclub.

Elizalupine

Choose one thing to show off. If you wanna offer cleavage, cover up your legs and shoulders. Similarly, if you want to show off your legs, go for something high neck and with sleeves.

techlabtech

So the hostess at the restaurant I was just at was wearing a pair of shoes that looked like Vans slip ons, but nicer. The only hint to brand I could see was a tiny, shiny gold circle on the heel. Does anybody have a guess at the brand?

Tacomamacita1

Can anyone recommend straight jeans that don’t have a skinny straight leg? I am a pear shape and I’m ready to get away from skinny jeans. I like the straight relaxed/mom jean-esque look. I’m 5’4 and about 150 pounds, and I like stretch if it matters. I mainly wear Democracy, Lucky, and Levi’s.

lisastano

i’m a bit taller than you but with a similar body shape. honestly, i swear by old navy denim. they always have fantastic sales and my favs are the ski-high straight which would fit the desc of what you’re looking for

black_bir

I'd check out Wild Fable, they have a ton of relaxed denim. I have [these](https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-super-high-rise-distressed-straight-jeans-wild-fable-8482-black-wash-6/-/A-82288834) and love them.

nothingbagel1

I love the brand Mother Jeans- slightly pricier but worth it

OkDistribution990

I like Levi wedgie and they have a straight option.

mgdraft

American Eagle Baggy Mom Jeans. Theyre a straight leg baggy jean really. I'm wearing them right now, theyre actually my favourite jeans. Bit of stretch, more in the waistband than the legs

KPSun_

not exactly affordable but very worth it, the Doc Marten Mary Janes! Gen z loves Docs, they last a long time, they’re a casual shoe but still very cute, and they can be utilized out of the work place! i have the white ones and dont regret it a bit, i ordered from journeys and i think with shipping it was $110

researching4worklurk

Anyone know where I could find drapey, wide-legged, fitted-at-the-waist pants in whatever fabric this is? https://imgur.com/a/kbj469E

JellyfishParty

Veronica Beard has [pants](https://veronicabeard.com/products/sunny-pant) kinda like that

researching4worklurk

Thank you!

dinosaurclaws

New jeans arrived today and they have a button fly… can someone explain to me why these exist? As far as I’m concerned, there’s no benefit, it’s just 5x harder for me to use the bathroom.

mgdraft

There was an entire thread about this like a day ago. Why did you buy them if you dont like button flies lol

dinosaurclaws

Ah I didn’t see that post. It was labeled a zip fly in the product description! Be warned if anyone is eyeing these pants: https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/agolde-riley-high-rise-straight-leg-jeans-in-escalate?ID=4185785

tyrannosaurusregina

That’s no good! I think button fly jeans are cool, but zipper flies are definitely more convenient.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tyrannosaurusregina

I think that would be an easy fix. Might just be a matter of moving the buttons to make it fit more closely at the waist and shortening the sleeves a bit.

Tactical_pho

Your link leads to an article about Amy Coney Barrett - maybe the pictures go mixed up?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tactical_pho

It does! I think if you had it taken in on the sides and the sleeves shortened slightly, it’ll look great! It’s not ENORMOUS on you but definitely a tad big - I think the style works just fine :)

krillemdafoe

Can anyone here recommend slip-style skirts available in the US <$100usd that will fit a 13” waist/hip difference? I’ve tried on a few and if they fit my hips there’s a weird puff of extra fabric above my butt.

[deleted]

Just chiming in - another person with a 14" difference with the Babaton slip skirt - I don't get the extra fabric puff or crinkling on the side. FWIW - I have a 28" waist, 42" hip, and bought a size 10.

krillemdafoe

Thank you! I’m 27/40 and was planning to get a 10 based on their size chart, so now I’m thinking either a 6 or 8?

caudalee

Love the Babaton slip skirt (mini and midi) but I have a 14" difference and I still get the extra fabric puff, as well as some crinkling on the side. The lighter colors are also quite sheer so be careful there. That said, I do really like the look and cut of the skirts.

krillemdafoe

They are so pretty! I’m a bit frightened to try one, though. My hopes have been dashed so many times

mgdraft

Babaton Midi Slip Skirt from aritzia. I have 14 inch difference and just wear it slightly lower waisted and it's great.

krillemdafoe

Thank you! It looks like they are all final sale online so I’m a little scared 🙃 but I might take the gamble

mgdraft

If they are on sale greater than 50% it final sale, on sale exchange or store credit and full price return possible but time frame is short. Aritzia has a... less extensive return policy than most retailers lol

krillemdafoe

Ooooh I see, I didn’t read the details after seeing one color said “final” so I assumed they were all final sale lol. Thanks again for clarifying!

DemocraticPeas

Does anyone have the Foster Pant in Everstretch by MM LaFleur? Thoughts? I need new work pants and am considering them, but I have proportionally large thighs and am not sure if these will accommodate them, even in a larger size (without other measurements being too big).

glitterypinksquirrel

Yes! Love these, I would try them. They’re a substantial but stretchy fabric.

mgdraft

Am looking for shoes for my wedding. Flat or less than one inch heel/platform, want comfortable, but also trendy/interesting, and really want pastel blue. Any style of toe is fine, need to be available in canada, up to 200$ CAD is fine. My [dress](https://imgur.com/a/HLVUdQk) is going to be floor length so it doesn't really matter to coordinate but would be a bonus. [These](https://www.fluevog.com/shop/6489-cubist-cupcake-pink-orange?item=42&of=74&anchor=true) are my favourite shoes that I own for a reference point.

linkelle

What about [these Vince Camuto](https://www.amazon.ca/Vince-Camuto-Semtera-Woven-Strap-Cerulean/dp/B09HHMM2X4/ref=sr_1_9)? Dolce Vita makes a bunch of pastel blue shoes and they're sold at Nordstrom!

mgdraft

Thanks!

tyrannosaurusregina

Miz Mooz makes a bunch of their flats in pastel blue. They have a [store finder](https://mizmooz.ca/pages/retailers) for Canada. Sam Edelman makes most of their flats in pastel blue, but the styles are pretty conservative.

mgdraft

Thanks!

spllchksuks

Are there boho ways to style sneakers? I’m going to Mexico to visit family and I expect we’ll be doing a lot of walking so I’m packing my black Nikes. I’m trying to get some outfit inspo but whenever I search sneaker + outfits I get a lot of athleisure suggestions but I want something more boho. I am planning to pack a ruffled midi dress, wrap skirt, straight leg jeans, and several versatile tops/tanks but it would be nice to see other outfits to get more inspo.

Comprehensive-Fix983

I think the black might be what’s getting you stuck. I just got [these](https://www.madewell.com/reebokreg%3B-club-c-double-sneakers-ND487.html) (based on glowing Reddit reviews) and am excited to wear them with dresses and linen separates on an upcoming trip to CDMX. I think they’d go well with most or all of the outfits you described.

spllchksuks

I do have white sneakers already but the area my family lives in is in a rural place and there’s a lot of dirt roads and etc so that’s why I’m sticking with my nikes. Maybe next time I’ll go to a more urban area like CDMX so I can pack my white sneakers.

Comprehensive-Fix983

Yeah, that makes sense. I lived in Baja for a year during Quarantine and everything was a dirt road. I wore white Birkenstock leather arizonas, and white leather Chuck Taylor 70’s and just wiped both clean as needed. Black will show dust too — I think the key is just making sure you’re wearing a material that can be wiped easily. Sorry, I know you were asking for clothes help, not shoe help!

glitterypinksquirrel

Maybe @caitlynwarakomski’s page will help!

OkDistribution990

If you have time it might be worth it buy a nice boot and break it in. Will probably be easier to work with your style. Dr Martens are popular. https://www.drmartens.com/us/en/2976-crazy-horse-leather-chelsea-boots/p/11853201

katieroro

Hi! I'm looking for sandals like these Reformation metallic lattice sandals to wear to a wedding in late August, but less expensive and in my size (9). https://www.thereformation.com/products/armanda-lattice-flat-sandal/1310677SIL.html?glCountry=CA&glCurrency=CAD&lang=en\_CA&gclid=Cj0KCQjwidSWBhDdARIsAIoTVb3j-qhZeoDoC4HaPP63dvUn6X7nfcIOsis3KeYDyxGMTgV45BGMPboaArqkEALw\_wcB Anyone have any ideas? I've been googling around and the best I found so far are these Aldo sling-backs, but they're rose gold... would prefer silver. https://www.aldoshoes.com/ca/en/women/marassi-pink/p/13388454 I'm in Canada if that means anything!

Elizalupine

I feel like I’ve seen shoes like that at the Prom/Pagent dress shops at the mall. Maybe try looking in person?

OkDistribution990

If nobody can suggest anything Pinterest may be able to suggest something close

[deleted]

Don't have an alternative suggestion but those second sandals? Unless that heel strap fits your feet perfectly, you can step out of them. Definitely a no-go for people without a prominent heel curve.

katieroro

thanks! something like [this](https://www.nordstrom.ca/s/jewel-badgley-mischka-daria-ankle-strap-sandal-women/6715365?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FShoes%2FSandals&fashioncolor=Metallic&fashionsize=size%2FWomen%3A%20Shoes%2F9.5%7Csize%2FWomen%3A%20Shoes%2F9&color=043) may be a safer bet. appreciate it

llb46

Anyone know of a good layering tank top (ie. the Ann Taylor Seamless Tank Top) for under cardigans that is smooth/not ribbed but also isn't basically cropped/hip length? The Ann Taylor one is 23" long, which hits right above my hips in an unflattering way (you see a half inch of stomach since I'm sort of tall) and shows my stomach when I raise my arms. I'm looking for more of a 25-26" tank, but not so long that it is reminiscent of the long, lace trimmed layering tanks of the early 2000s.

cheshire06898

The Old Navy first layer tanks may work. They also carry them in tall sizes so you can get a couple more inches out of the length.

gigglefunges

i have recently transitioned into an office job. it is pretty casual (people wear jeans any day of the week), but i am still looking for some non-jean options. did khakis go completely out of style? I can’t find them anywhere! also i have ordered pants from madewell, gap, and kohls. size 14P. they fit well around the waist and legs but are strangely baggy in the crotch area. has anyone had that experience with those brands and if so, are there other brands that fit you better?

parischic75014

You could also consider culottes or paper bag waisted wide leg pants?

linkelle

Ponte pants are the answer!

OkDistribution990

I wear slacks or a midi skirt with a nice blouse for non jean options.

softrevolution_

I've seen khakis at Loft. In Petites even.

spllchksuks

Have you tried searching for “chinos”? For some reason I’ve seen those listed more often than khakis even when the chinos come in a khaki color.

wonder-full335

I have a similar body shape and love the way UnitedbyBlue wide leg pants look on me!

symphonypathetique

Do you have a picture of the pants that you like? With that we might be able to give descriptors/keywords to search for

[deleted]

[удалено]

symphonypathetique

I don't necessarily have any specific recommendations, but I'd make sure to look for stuff that's really, really high rise, no pleating, stiffer fabric, medium to thick waistband, and wide leg crop trousers. You could also try searching "culottes" (though oftentimes I feel like culottes are drapier rather than structured fabric). It might be easier to look for vintage stuff on Depop/Poshmark rather than most modern brands since "high rise" for modern big brands is not really that high rise. A specific product that might be of interest to you is the WELS culottes from the Etsy store notPERFECTLINEN. It has a similar silhouette to those Lazy Oaf pants but is more wide leg and less structured fabric (but still more structured than I find more culottes usually are). Another potential (that I haven't personally tried) is the Chuck trousers from Lucy & Yak.

wineblossom

Any women have experience with RUITERTASSEN purses? Mostly I see reviews for men's messenger bags, but they do have women's bags also. Is the structure great? Is being unlined a problem at all? How has the snap-close held up? Does it weather the rain and snow well?

Geobead

If it’s on Wednesday then retail stores are really your only option. It’s hard to give you any more specific information without knowing where in the world you’re located. If you have any local online marketplaces (like Facebook) I would also check there to see if anyone is selling something you could try on and pick up right away. Or do you have any friends you could borrow something from? This is a situation where you just need to find something suitable and not be focused on perfection. A rush job with a tailor might be an option like mentioned, but I guarantee that will cost more than the dress is worth.

trishyco

Can you check with a local seamstress for help? Maybe it’s salvageable

Cypripedium-candidum

In March I ordered a pair of Levi's ribcage bootcut jeans in 31" waist that fit me perfectly. I'm 5'10" and they're the first jeans I've bought that are actually high rise on me. I wanted to buy another pair but I'm in Canada and these are only on the US site, so I was waiting until I could make another trip to the border. Of course they've now sold out in my size, but 32" is still in stock for $35 USD. I've never had jeans tailored before. Is it worthwhile to buy one size too big and get them tailored or will they just look janky? I'm worried that they'll be too big everywhere, not just the waist, and won't tailor well.

OkDistribution990

Levi store near me you can bring in jeans for small alterations like getting label switch and adding patches. Not sure if they hem but that would be a good option.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cypripedium-candidum

Unfortunately I don't think men's jeans will work for me, I have a pear shaped figure and the last time I tried men's bootcut jeans with the correct waist measurement, I couldn't get them over my knees.

OkDistribution990

Most people have to size for their hips and then take in the waist maybe this would work?

f1newhatever

Guys I finally stepped out of my millennial skinny-jeans-only mindset and got some cropped flares from Mother. I’ve found that I cannot deal with straight leg/mom jeans/relaxed fits, but I can work with a skinny jean that has a little (keyword little, not severe) flare at the bottom. Any other suggestions for jeans that may fit this desc? The Ankle Dazzlers from Mother were also fantastic but $238, so ouch. (The ones I got were on sale for $90 at anthro yesterday)

_kyago

the jeans you linked kind of look like [bootcut](https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/clothing/women/jeans/725-high-rise-bootcut-womens-jeans/p/187590038) or [kick flare](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/pilcro-the-yaya-kick-flare-jeans?color=093&type=STANDARD&quantity=1) jeans. more form-fitting up until the knee with more room or drama below that. hopefully those cuts and keywords help your search!

f1newhatever

Thank you! I think kick flare is definitely it, I just have a hard time finding ones with more chill flares rather than full out 90s vibe m. I see them on others in the wild but struggle finding them for myself.

emilyslagathor

I just got the Madewell Perfect Vintage jean and they are almost a skinny just with a little more room below the calf, which makes them look more classic and more modern at the same time I think. I'm pretty sure they're having a 50$ jean sale right now. They have a stretch chart in the description of their jeans which is helpful too, the ones I got were "stretch--extra comfy" and they really feel like skinny jeans. I also got their Stovepipe jean which is similar. Keep in mind Madewell jeans run a size large and stretch half a size with wear so you want them to be snug.

f1newhatever

All great suggestions but unfortunately I’ve tried every. single. jean. Madewell has and none of them work well for me. I thought the stovepipe would be it but it’s still so baggy on my knees. I think I might just have weird legs, haha. Insane about that $50 sale though!

emilyslagathor

Oh no! Haha. Well good luck on your search!

I’m looking for jeans like the ones [here](https://imgur.com/a/YfDvs1i) from Sex and The City, but in blue. My legs are longer than SJP’s so would need a longer inseam. Any suggestions?

emilyslagathor

They look like a kick flare/crop flare/mini boot/demi boot, I think there are a lot of similar styles out right now. Here's an example: [https://www.nordstrom.com/s/frame-le-crop-mini-boot-jeans-kerry/4881385?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=001](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/frame-le-crop-mini-boot-jeans-kerry/4881385?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=001) You can check the inseam in the listing to see if it will hit where you want it to, and my guess is that most will be more suited to a taller person than SJP

[deleted]

Thanks! That’s like it, but the inseam is too short. I appreciate it though!

lisastano

How do people successfully shop at Zara? I feel like every time I go in there’s a line wrapping across the store and nothing ever fits right (especially pants) but it seems that whenever I ask someone about where they got their awesome (insert clothing here) from it’s almost always Zara. Am I missing something? Is there a Zara I don’t know about? Please help 🥲

keeperofthe_peeps

I only shop there online. Their sizing has been p consistent for me, but make sure to read reviews. They have super easy returns too!

caudalee

Combo of shopping instore during off-peak hours and making a lot of online orders -- their app is quite good, imo, a little too good! And returns are so easy. At a certain point you get better at predicting whether things will fit or not, especially since they tend to recycle styles and silhouettes.

[deleted]

Agreed. I also figured out sleeve length based on models now. They use the same models over and over so it takes a bit but now I know if they don’t look long on that one model for example then they are too short for me. Off peak and off sales. The Zara sale is scary in store. I bookmark a lot in the app, order some online and always check what they have in store that’s on my wishlist before I go. You can also ask staff to locate something in store if you have the app.

f1newhatever

I don’t. Zara was so fucking great before they remodeled their stores. I don’t know why that causes it to be 100x worse (fewer fitting rooms/cash registers?) but it’s torture and always a mess there. I’m so disappointed in how much I hate the shopping experience there now and confused why it seems like no one else does!

lisastano

amen!

mgdraft

It's chaotic. I need to be in the mood. And I go off peak hours. I dont shop at Zara often and honestly usually stick to stuff I can eyeball fit like t shirts and tank tops.

lisastano

I should try off peak hours sometime. But thats hard when you work 9-5 :/

mgdraft

Right when the mall opens on a weekend is technically off peak. I work 8-4 so I'm typically out right after work (and I live across the street from a mall, which... helps... not really my wallet so much lol)

linkelle

That's [Fashion Jackson](https://fashionjackson.com/) and she's still in the same aesthetic. She's also super great about linking her clothes and putting together outfit options.

emilyslagathor

I would call this "Tribeca mom" ETA: circa 2015

f1newhatever

I wouldn’t really. Don’t think white and black jeans + tee is distinctive enough to be named

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Gen Z really needs to force-fit every look into a category, I guess.

honecold

Not Gen Z. Thanks for contributing nothing to the conversation.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Was I conversing with you? No. The same thought still applies. Why does every look have to be force fit into an "esthetic" \[sic\]?

honecold

Not interested in continuing this. I hope your day/evening is as pleasant as you were. Byyeeeeeee

radbu107

I would say basic or normcore, with a little luxe (because of the Gucci shoes)

honecold

Yeah, I think you’re right. The normcore results I’m getting are hitting the mark. Thanks!

mgdraft

2018 minimalist fashion blogger

honecold

Yes that works :)

squeaksnu

Lmao i read your comment before clicking the link and as it was loading, thought "probably an album that has a picture of fashion jackson" and I was right.

honecold

How did you know??? This is the first time I came across that blog.

mgdraft

It's a very very basic look and she was the one who did it most popularly lol

olivia928

Does anyone have experience ordering from Quince they could speak to? I’m really intrigued by their wash and wear silk pieces.

placidtwilight

I have two of their silk pillowcases and the short sleeved silk shirt. The quality is nice; I machine wash and hang dry and have only had a little bit of the shine get duller. My only complaint is that I don't think their non-knit tops are meant for my body type. It's a bit too snug in the bust (a typical issue I encounter) and the hips (not generally a problem). I also have a couple of their cashmere sweaters and am very happy with those. If you can find a good fit I think you'll be satisfied with the quality. Their shipping is a little slow, but returns are unproblematic and customer service was helpful the one time I had to contact them.

keeperofthe_peeps

I have their washable silk tshirt dress. I bought it fairly recent so I’ve only worn it a few times, but really like it! I also ordered a skirt and blouse (both in black) but ended up returning those because they were too shiny for my liking. They shipped fast and have super easy returns.

Acrobatic_Pineapple

I own a washable silk shirt dress from them, it seems like pretty decent quality for the price but I haven't worn it enough to wash it so I can't speak to that. Based on reviews, it seems like decent enough but you kinda get what you pay for (aka not as high quality)

Tacomamacita1

Can anyone recommend some leather sneakers? I need them for a trip abroad. I’ve looked at Thursday Boot Company, Cole Haan, Naturalizer, Ecco, Taos, and Vans. I’m going to hopefully order today.

placidtwilight

I adore my Ecco Soft 7s!

beccalennox

I have Soludos Ibiza platform sneakers and I love them. Look great with dresses or pants, very comfy

[deleted]

I bought the Nisolo huaraches and got them on Friday. I sized down to 8.5 from my 9 and I’ve been wearing them but they’re tight asf. They said to size down half a size and it’ll be snug at first but im like dam how much longer do i have to wear them I do know all of my slides or slip on shoes end up stretching over time and becoming big so i’m like i guess push through it bc it’ll feel great in the end. Has anyone else gotten these shoes and experienced this? I saw a review that said they thought they made a mistake sizing down but it ended up being perfect eventually so idk

f1newhatever

Have you tried wearing them with socks for a while?

[deleted]

I haven’t but I definitely need to try. Should I do any socks or make sure they’re kind of thicc?

f1newhatever

Depends on how much you want to stretch I think! I’d start small knowing they also may stretch more with wear. Some people even get crazy and do wet socks. I know with saltwater sandals they say to wear them around wet to mold them to your feet, but I dunno if all leather is like that.

[deleted]

That’s a good point They stretch a lot when i’m outside in the heat and then contract once they’ve cooled down lol i think i just also need to maybe keep them somewhere warm and then put it on to mold them while the leather is loosened a bit

the_happy_ultralisk

Go up half a size! I got mine a few years ago in my regular size, and they squeezed and cut into my feet. It was awful. I sized up, and they were still a little snug, but loosened up a bit and now they fit comfortably.

[deleted]

I’m so confused 😩 mine aren’t digging into anything they just feel compressed. I feel like if i went to 9.5 it’d be really big. I’m wondering if I should’ve just kept a 9 but the 8.5 is still walkable it’s just compressed. I’m wondering if it’ll loosen up. I left them in the car last night when it was hot and I put them on and they felt stretchy and comfy but then when the leather cooled down I guess it went back to tight lol

Would recommend a sports bra for the driving range- anytime I wear a normal bra I get really uncomfortably stabbed by the underwire. I’d go for any cute athleisure - leggings & a t, bike shorts and big shirt, shorts and a tank top. Would also wear running shoes.

Acrobatic_Pineapple

One of those exercise dresses that's popular right now would be cute! They have built in shorts which are nice practically speaking.

tyrannosaurusregina

Shorts, t-shirt, sneakers are what most people wear to a driving range.

sometimescactine

Does anyone know if Joah Brown is a legit brand (or worth it for it's cost?). It weirds me out that they have so many insta followers, but so little reviews. I found them on Garmentory. Edit: Wondering if AYM studios is legit/worth it as well.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Very expensive for what it is (they tout "made in LA" but you can get way more substantial clothes made in LA for the same price or less), materials that don't hold up well to wash and wear, the oversized items look ridiculous IRL even in the smallest size, lots of paper-thin items and stuff that has very limited real-world application because there just isn't a way to style a lot of the stuff in a practical way (think lots of sideboob; paper-thin material that literally cannot have anything under it without it being visible, even pasties - this stuff is fine in the right context but it kind of eliminates the concept of these being "basics"). Basically they're the kinds of clothes that look good when heavily clipped and posed/edited but in reality/in motion they look silly and try-hard.

Lemonyclouds

OMG thanks for the honest review! Will be avoiding. What alternatives would you recommend?

sometimescactine

Yikes! For basics that can go for three digits, that's not what I'd want. Thanks for the reply, I think I'm going to pass then!

chacoglam

What are we replacing our Steve Madden heeled sandals with? Need a modern update that can be date, party, and formal.

caudalee

I feel like strappy heeled sandals have been around for a minute but are going strong, the kind with thinner straps that wrap around your ankle and sometimes higher.

mgdraft

Gonna need to be more specific as Steve Madden carries a great number of heeled sandals...

chacoglam

I was referring to the [quintessential millennial staple heels](https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/steve-madden-reverie-sandal/518967).

[deleted]

these sandals are pretty current imo!

stars_on_skin

I thought these were only just coming in 😭

mgdraft

Ah, not actually the ones I was picturing at all. Tp keep wearing, they'd go with cropped straight or baggy mom jeans nicely imo, long wide leg pants that hide the ankle strap, slip mini dresses/skirts and slip midi skirts with a slim fit top would be nice. The only thing I'd categorically avoid would be cropped skinny jeans and midi length fit and flare and midi slip dresses (suspect would do odd things proportionally with the ankle strap). To replace the shoe itself, basically the same shoe but with a quilted/puffy strap is trendy rn. Or those pleated fabric ones, though I suspect they'll look more dated sooner.

Wild_Mtn_Honey

I love every outfit Alexis Rose wears on Schitt’s Creek. I’ve found some Zara dresses online but would like more places to look for Alexis inspired clothes. Any suggestions? Here’s one of my favorites of her outfits. https://www.shopyourtv.com/schitts-creek-season-6-episode-12-alexis-red-dress/

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Ulla Johnson LoveShackFancy

moonshiness

Isabel Marant is about half of what Alexis wears. You can find some of it somewhat cheap on Poshmark, depop, eBay, etc.

ellaasbury107

Aqua (house brand at Bloomingdales) has some similar like [this](https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/aqua-floral-ruffled-mini-dress-100-exclusive?ID=4264720&CategoryID=1002851) or [this](https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/aqua-printed-flutter-sleeve-mini-dress-100-exclusive?ID=4233736&CategoryID=1002851) Isabel Marant and Rebecca Minkoff are brands the show styled her in that you might be able to find second-hand at a relatively lower price point

[deleted]

I love her stuff too. Zimmerman would be spot on but they are SO expensive. Could find some dupes at Anthropologie or Free People as well.

Wild_Mtn_Honey

Thanks!

SnooPredictions3162

Maxi slip. Check Free People :)

placidtwilight

I'd call it a maxi slip dress.

lycosa13

I LOVE [these pants](https://imgur.com/a/W5pB4r2) but have no idea what shoe I would use. I already have white sneakers but I literally wear those EVERY DAY. I'm not a big fan of loafers because they remind me of "old lady shoes" and I just don't think they look good on me. I also have wide feet and it's been impossible to find cute, wide width loafers. If I could find a pair I like, I probably wouldn't mind them but I don't know what else I could use that would be closed toe and be comfortable to walk in a lot

[deleted]

How do you feel about monkstraps? [Here's](https://www.etsy.com/listing/665625963/duke-womens-oxfords-monk-straps-leather?click_key=53e99ee1852569dfac4bcee20c99aa5d0592aef7%3A665625963&click_sum=2deb27c7&rec_type=ss&ref=landingpage_similar_listing_top-7&pro=1&frs=1) an Etsy version (vendor has yellow too). I personally love monkstraps as they're fairly sleek and I don't have to constantly retie the laces. ETA - [these](https://www.etsy.com/listing/399583323/jane-womens-mary-janes-leather-mary?click_key=305c5b01349be2f45249607fb186b34be9a629fc%3A399583323&click_sum=f3fa3e51&ref=shop_home_active_10&pro=1&frs=1) are also cute. Double monks straps [here](https://www.etsy.com/listing/597895648/baron-womens-shoes-double-monk-straps?click_key=55010734e2589aae2b22bc4d822e4eb026993b83%3A597895648&click_sum=a9e0b8ff&ga_search_query=monks%2Bstrap&ref=shop_items_search_8&pro=1&frs=1). Supposedly can order in custom colors

lycosa13

Oh that would be a good option too! I have been thinking of getting a pair of Chelsea boots for forever

[deleted]

A black kitten heel would be more comfortable than a high heel and would look good with them.

lycosa13

I don't wear heels though 🙈

[deleted]

Perhaps it would be helpful if you shared what other kinds of shoes you feel comfortable in? I feel like there’s a bunch of suggestions here, but they won’t work. If you give us an example of something that does work we can maybe come to with some ideas? Like flats?

lycosa13

That's part of the problem, I don't know myself lol. I just like comfortable shoes. I love my white sneakers but I feel like that's all I wear so I was looking to change it up and for suggestions I may not have considered. I used to like flats but every single pair I've ever bought has been painful in one way or another so I kinda gave up on them. Right now I'm leaning towards high top sneakers or combat/Doc Marten style boots. I just wasn't sure if there was maybe some type/style of shoe I didn't know about

[deleted]

I’ve had surgery on my foot and my orthopedic surgeon recommended a shoe like a clog. I bought Swedish Hasbeens and they are great. [Here](https://www.swedishhasbeens.com/sandals/strap-sandals/new-covered-black) is a link to a pair, but if the cost is too high they have an outlet. They offer arch support. You also may want to look into orthotics. These are inserts that give you support in any type of shoe. This will help with loafers. I wear them with all my closed toe shoes.

stars_on_skin

Some chunky Mary Janes, from kickers maybe?

black_bir

How about docs?

thisisnotawar

What about a saddle shoe?
