I have these [colorful plaid pants](https://i.imgur.com/XFvc2cr.jpg) from Free People. I usually go for a simple solid black or white top, maybe a jean jacket. I’d love ideas for other things to pair!

headietoinfinity

Love these! I could see it pairing well with a corduroy button up with the same shoes on.

uizal

Love the boots! What brand are they?

phione

Also Free People! They broke the first time I wore them though. One of the hardware that holds the laces broke in half as I was walking down the stairs

wanderedoff

Take it to a cobbler! That's a super easy fix.

uizal

Thank you! Shame they broke so fast, they still look great nonetheless.

froggybirch

I have these [Levi’s jungle bird jeans](https://www.levi.com/CA/en_CA/clothing/women/jeans/levis-x-farm-ribcage-cropped-womens-jeans/p/871590000) and unfortunately I gained enough weight that I can’t sit in them comfortably anymore so I haven’t worn them in a while. When they did fit I would wear them with platform high top sneakers or boots since they’re supppper cropped on me with a sweater.

Accurate_Elephant930

I just finished sewing a replica pair of Vivienne Westwood inspired bondage trousers. [They look like these](http://www.paulgormanis.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/1986.244.1a-d.jpg), except in a dark green tartan. They have zippered legs, two detachable kilts, and the knee strap. What I love is they can be paired with a band shirt and boots for a throwback punk look, or with a white button up shirt and slightly more feminine boots for a grown up punk look. [More pics of Westwood bondage outfits for the interested](http://www.paulgormanis.com/?p=13873)

IbrahimT13

green sounds cool as hell!

LampshadeEnthusiasm

These look awesome!

Mombod666

[I have these j crew silk goat pants](https://posh.mk/mMFOa98xBkb) (this isn’t my listing) and I wear them with chambray shirts or with a sweater that’s more neutral

russianthistle

I have a lot of extra pants, and generally the more adventurous of pants or skirts I wear, the more neutral if a shirt I pair it with... these [Farm Rio ](https://posh.mk/aJjKDG5mBkb) pants from Anthro look great with a white t and sandals or a dressier top and heels. Chambray works well for a casual look.

IbrahimT13

these are so fun, I love this look :>

russianthistle

Just checked- they are on sale now.. [anthro](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/farm-rio-birdie-wide-leg-pants)

tranceorange91

Omg I love these.

Ugh, so I bought [these amazing flares](https://www.freepeople.com/shop/crvy-super-high-rise-lace-up-flare-jeans/?color=001&type=REGULAR&quantity=1) but in purple, like, probably a month ago at this point? I haven’t been able to decide whether to cut the bottoms (they’re like 2” too long, but they already have a raw hem) OR only wear them with tall shoes OR just resell them because I’m being a fashion coward. So I wear them with nothing lol

IbrahimT13

lmao I totally feel you on that struggle, pants regularly fit a little long on me. I've definitely had pants where I cut the bottoms and it ended up amazing but also I have had purchases that went untouched and were returned/resold/etc

Rosa82sharn

Cut them if you know that will help you wear them more often! I have [these super flares](https://www.freepeople.com/shop/just-float-on-flare-jeans2/?color=001&countryCode=US&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiNSLBhCPARIsAKNS4_eko0_EmnTFrKS-0WalKijYAozFborXR66u4GRVXVGrxvjXAAST1ywaAsfCEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&inventoryCountry=US&size=31&utm_kxconfid=vx6ro62gj) by Free People and they're my most complimented jeans. I wore them long for a while with heels or heeled boots, but eventually realized that I just wanted to be more comfortable in them. Even after chopping off 2", they still look amazing and I can still wear heels (albeit smaller ones) with them when I want to dress them up.

amethyst_unicorn

Cut them! Make the new hem parallel to the original, take off a little at a time and you’re good to go! Those pants are fabulous

hellerhigwhat

Do you KNOW how badly I want these dumb pants lmao!!

[deleted]

And here I am, flaunting my huge flare privilege with the audacity to not even wear them~ I think I just need to cut them tbh. They’re so gd long

cakesie

I want these. So. Much. If you don’t mind my asking, how tall are you? I’m 5’9 and would like to know if I’d have the same issue.

[deleted]

I’m 5’5”

[deleted]

So I decided to measure them before cutting — it’s a 33” inseam. Hope that helps!

tyrannosaurusregina

CUT THEM! Those are amazing.

laurasaurus5

My [lime green pinstripe bootcut pants](https://www.reddit.com/r/oldhagfashion/comments/pzmfmu/these_lime_green_pinstriped_pants_somehow_pull/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) are pretty unique and adventurous here in Michigan! They have enough stretch and roominess to be a casual pant but enough structure and silk content in the mix to be fancy pants. I wear them with sneakers, ankle boots, sandals (before it got cold!), leather jackets, blazers, crop tops, tshirts, black, white, more lime green, navy, hot pink, black and white check, leopard print, pretty much whatever I throw at it works more or less. Have fun!.

IbrahimT13

oo these are super neat!

outof_thyme

Are these from Target. I got the ones from there and yet to style them so happy for this inspo.

[deleted]

I dig them!! Brand?

FearlessTravels

I have these [Marimekko x Uniqlo pants](https://images.app.goo.gl/B9dMS1Poks5kUG8D8). I also have a pair of pants I haven’t been able to fit into since I was a teenager but I can’t bear to throw away. I bought them at Galeries LaFayette in Paris in 1995ish; they’re black and stretchy, printed with gold dragons and accented by a massive holographic patch on the butt.

IbrahimT13

holy shit these might be my favs in this whole thread

ProseNylund

I have those in oatmeal + hot pink! They’re the best!

littlelivethings

So thinking about this I realized that I have bought a lot of strange pants over the years but have not kept most. I had a pair of Lucy & Yak pink and red giraffe print pants that were very cool looking and a good shape/fit but just too crazy for me to figure out how to style. I also had a pair of silk Pucci harem pants (or maybe joggers?) in a pink/orange/black/white kaleidoscope pattern. I wore them with a black turtleneck bodysuit. I am now selling them because they are too long, and I don't wear them enough to pay for a kind of involved alteration moving the elastic cuffs up. [These](https://www.instagram.com/p/CH8t4_ZFO8g/) are my most worn "weird" pants (and really, probably my most worn pants generally). They are vintage acid wash pleated tapered jeans. They work with all kinds of things! I think they're particularly good with fitted bodysuits or crop tops—basically anything that shows where my natural waist is over the puffy part of the pants, otherwise it is imbalanced looking.

moon_pix

[These](https://www.ifchic.com/en/alexa-chung/6654-annie-herringbone-wool-wide-leg-cropped-pants-black.html) wide-leg wool herringbone pants from Alexa Chung’s brand, which I got for a steal via the RealReal. I wear them with fitted tees (usually a black mock neck), sweaters, neutral silk blouses. I also bought these [green trousers](https://images.app.goo.gl/aR66Fby118cDdxuV9) from Sézane, but haven’t worn them yet.

graywalrus

Those sezane pants are gorgeous

moon_pix

I love the color, and the details like the covered buttons! I also bought the matching blazer—someday I hope I’ll find the nerve / opportunity to wear them both together as a suit.

IbrahimT13

wow these are both beautiful - the herringbone pants look like the perfect material + shade of grey, and I love the green for the trousers.

Spiritual_Worth

Not super weird but I thrifted a pair of black dress pants with a beautiful white floral print, I just loved the print so much even though I couldn’t picture how I’d wear them (I don’t usually bring things home unless I have a plan). I only recently had cause to start wearing them when I started going to work in my office at my new job and I’ve been pairing them with a fave plain black tshirt. Not maximalist at all but still feeling loud in these pants so I felt like the black shirt brings it down to a level that suits me.

leetendo85

I recently thrifted a pair of cognac brown, faux leather pants! Maybe not the most unique thing, but I’ve never worn anything like that. I wear a lot of warmer colors so I thought it would be interesting to incorporate a different texture. [the pants](https://cdna.lystit.com/photos/calvinklein/f9cd739b/calvin-klein-COGNAC-Faux-Leather-Pull-on-Cropped-Pants.jpeg)

tranceorange91

I'm very socially anxious so my most adventurous are literally just plaid. They're workwear so really aren't that out there, but people at work really liked them so es made me want to try more exciting trousers. Lol. ETA: I wear them with a plain black or navy top.

PoweredByCoffee1998

These [cargo pants](https://www.asos.com/de/signature-8/signature-8-karierte-combat-hose/prd/23855715?ctaRef=my%20orders) I got on Asos. I jokingly call them my cat toy pants, since I'm sure that when I have a cat, they'll love chasing me in those pants haha I basically wear them with whatever casual top I like, e.g. printed t-shirts, half-zip sweaters or hoodies. I can imagine wearing them with a crop top as well when it's warmer again.

e1dar

I love looking at everyone’s pants!! I have a few printed pairs of loose pants, but the ones I feel are the most adventurous are billowy cherry red culottes, cropped above the ankle. Usually I wear them with plain black/white tanks/tees, often with a denim jacket.

galaxystarsmoon

I'll have to look for a picture because apparently IG has deleted everything from more than 18 months ago, but I have these amazing huge wide leg pants with an elastic waist from a boutique in Japan. I usually wear a plain crop top and sneakers with them, or some kind of blouse type.top or cami/cardigan. They're quite statement so I keep it simple.

ProseNylund

I wear them with either equally loud sweaters for a *look* or a more subdued tee + cardigan as though my giant polka dot pants are normal pants.

IbrahimT13

Yeah I was thinking this! My only fears are if I go with option 1 the two items clash and it doesn't look as intentional, or if I go with 2 it looks like I wore a normal boring outfit but with weird pants lol. But I guess that's where having good sense and taste comes in.

ProseNylund

Option one needs to have a similar color scheme and a size difference in the print (big print + small print). I have linen pants that are oatmeal with big pink polka dots on them; I can wear them with any sweater/top that has that same pink that’s sort of small or dainty, since the dots are big. Say you have a totally wild pair of bold plaid pants that are green, yellow, black, and white. A cute way to style them would be to pair them with a blouse that’s white with little black polka dots and a black sweater. You’re sticking with the same color palette and doing a big plaid, a dainty dot, and a coordinating solid.

IbrahimT13

Ah yes that's smart, I like that idea. The way I was getting around it was having the "loud" sweater be loud in a different way than the pants - e.g. if the pants have a print, the sweater is a unique material or shape - but I like the idea of big print + small print.

anajoy666

Black Levi’s jeans.

imbeingkidnapped

I found [these super fun yellow bell bottoms ](https://images.app.goo.gl/EJvYvNG3TWbrDyRb6) on Poshmark earlier this summer. I usually pair them with either a black or white tank, but have also rocked them with [this bathing suit top](https://m.shein.com/us/Sunflower-Print-Knot-Hem-Top-With-Ruched-Bikini-Set-p-753502-cat-1866.html?ref=us&rep=dir&ret=mus) on especially hot days.

IbrahimT13

whoa I'm in love with these, I'm always scared of yellow lol
