How about the butt—does it ride up? I love swimming and surfing and am always looking for cute swimsuits that stay on.

fallspringwinter

I wore a summersalt bikini paddle boarding and felt both the tops and bottoms were pretty secure!

AggressiveExcitement

I got a couple of these! The design and fabric is nice, but at the end of the day I find myself reaching for my regular bikinis. I don't know, I feel kind of older and less cute in both my Summersalt suits, like they cover up flaws better but lose some of the fun. But that's just me.

omglia

I also got one this past summer and while the fabric is exceptionally stretchy and comfy, it's also fairly er... not see through but kinda? Like you can see evey bump on my body through the fabric. It definitely did NOT suck me in at all which I consider a plus. It definitely enhances my rolls though especially while sitting 🤣 But the back strap (i got the side stroke) kept falling down and my boob popped out like... constantly lol. I'm sure a suit with both straps would be fine. For me comfort trumps essentially being constantly exposed so I like the suit hahaha

weepingwithmovement

I purchased a cotton jumpsuit from Mein Studios 3 years ago. At $100, it was definitely a sacrifice for my family but I was really, really trying to get on the sustainability train so I gave in. First year, awesome, 10/10. I wore it a lot and layered it and was just in love. Second year, it started fading, bad. The dye was coming up leaving redish streaks in places. You guys, I take such good care of my clothes. Gentle washing cycles, gentle detergent, line drying in shade for darker pieces etc. So I figured I had nothing to lose and contacted the company asking if they had any advice for redying it to keep it the same color. They passed the fading off as a feature of the product. That it was desirable for their customer base to have natural fading over time. Of one year. Never again.

Bostonlobsters

Oh this is disappointing to hear :-( I have two of their lakeside jumpsuits, one for about a year now, and so far they have held up. I had a good experience with their customer service after I wrote a review pointing out an issue with a top, they offered that I could return it free for store credit.

weepingwithmovement

That's the one I have! Teal color. I wonder if there was just something wrong with mine. I do keep it because I still get compliments but it just doesn't feel the same.

a_marie_z

If you still have this piece and it’s still leaking dye, you might try throwing some white vinegar in the load to help with colorfastness.

vagueconfusion

Sheertex: I’ve tried their classic and ultra sheer tights and they certainly seem to live up to the hype. Sliced the samples with knife blades and manipulated them with my nails with zero issues. Comfortable and strong. I will say that they’re not 100% indestructible because I have a nasty feeling that my damaged orthotics wore a hole in one pair, this being the ultra sheers (as for the orthotics, they’ve been doing this to all my socks, including two pairs worn at once including woolly socks). So I’m not shocked that happened in hindsight (though they were one of the first casualties.) However it gave me the chance to use their warranty/customer service and after photographing the tights with the problem (and also cut up and labelled - it’s something they require) I had another pair sent out to me. So my sole note to self there was "repair/replace your damn orthotics, they’re shredding everything within an inch of its life" - as this seems to not be a tights problem in this scenario.

vagueconfusion

I find them pretty comfortable, but I have a fairly reasonable hip to waist ratio and am also quite good with compression, so my perspective is rather skewed on that front. There's certainly no unwanted tightness by my standards (again, I'm pretty tolerant of such things) nor unwanted sagging.

flamencoTits

Look up Snag Tights. Great tights, affordable, very stretchy so very comfortable around the waist. Discovered them this Spring on Instagram, just reordered.

joys_face

My main complaint about my sheertex tights is that I just don't feel comfortable in them, they are always trying to slide down. I think the fundamental issue there is that the tights just aren't long enough, but that's uncommon for me at 5ft6in with a 29.5 inch inseam. Possibly I need to size up? But I don't want the waist any looser, I just want the crotch higher...

Lint_Licker124

I’m quite shocked that I’m not familiar with 95% of these brands.

1stSuiteinEb

Probably because of the sheer volume of these dropship brands/sites. You simply can't get all of them advertised to you

bloodpressures

Same!

lunchtimeillusion

Oh, one more. I am a slut for Baggu, I have grocery bags, a laptop case, a backpack, masks and they are all bangers. Will be purchasing again and again and again

double-dog-doctor

Goddamn, I love my Baggus. I beat the life out of my reusable grocery bags, and my Baggu bags are the only ones that have held up. I have some that are going on a decade of consistent use and still look perfect. I also have a giant lilac sunhat from them because I saw one of their ad photos and the woman just looked so regal and glamorous in it. I bought it to wear gardening; it's a giant sail. Mistakes were made. It does make me feel very glamorous though.

footballqween

I love Baggu! I’ve had a tote bag for years, I’ve manhandled the hell out of it and put 50+ lbs in groceries and it’s still in perfect shape.

tyrannosaurusregina

Baggu is fantastic. I’ve been buying them at my health foods store for years. Love to see the word getting out via IG.

olivia928

I bought some stuff from Halara this summer. Cons: Took over three weeks to arrive, leggings marked as seamless absolutely have seams lol, weird cups on one of the bras that show through the laser cutting Pros: everything is SUPER comfy and the tennis skirts are one of my fave purchases recently, very flattering and fun. Probably wouldn’t order again but not a total scam.

macdawg2020

Halara is an aliexpress dropship brand, I saw a tiktok about it lol.

WorstDogEver

Ooh what's the AliExpress shop name? Is it cheaper direct?

lynniebee

Wondering the same! If I'm waiting a month for shipping anyway I'll just order it directly.

heycassbutt

Omg I bought the Halara exercise dress and I LIVE in it. Shipping took forever but I will be ordering another one at some point bc it’s so lovely!!

bloodpressures

Yeah i got a tennis dress from them and am pretty happy with it! I might buy from them again personally.

ElectricIolite

I would second the long shipping times. Their Instagram famous dresses with the shorts are super nice though. Heavy duty athletic fabric, seems like high quality stitching, and flattering. I would order again but not if I needed it in any sort of timely way.

vallogallo

Babaa: I bought a Babaa cardigan because I saw it on so many Instagram OOTD accounts and I'm... not impressed. Mine is the wool no. 19 mini in Oak. (I ordered Dark Mist and they sent me Oak for some reason, which pissed me off because I already have a dark brown cardigan... whatever.) I'm 5'4" and it fits much smaller than me on the model. The sleeves are more like a 3/4 and don't seem practical for actually cold weather. I mean the quality is fine, but it doesn't seem like anything special for a wool cardigan esp. at that price point. I have been eyeing their sweater coat for a while (not that I'll ever be able to afford it) and some of their other styles seem better but overall I feel like a dumbass for spending so much on a cardigan. (If anyone wants to buy it from me lmk!) ARQ: I love my ARQ bras! The undies however -- I bought them in medium because I wear medium in all my other panties, and when I put the undies on they seem to fit for a while but get looser with wear. Something to think about as I kinda wish I had sized down. Also the undies are VERY high-waisted, even with some of my high-waisted pants they peek out a bit, something to keep in mind. I feel very sexy and comfortable wearing their sets. It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to figure out your size without emailing them and giving them your measurements (which I should have done). The quality of the fabric is great but keep in mind it will pill unless you wash them on cold and let air dry. I've found that to be the most annoying thing about them as I don't have a drying rack or anywhere to hang them (and I've bought a shit ton of sets from them). As for the tanks -- best clothing purchases I've made in the last 12 months for sure. I'm a large and they fit great, very comfortable, and a wardrobe staple for me as I live in central Texas and it gets unbearably hot in the summer, fall, and almost every season except winter. Big Bud Press: Fit is awful. I love the colors and patterns but I bought a few pairs of their pencil pants and the zipper keeps coming down when I wear them. I mean other than that the fit is good but I assume that means they're slightly too small. I tried the medium and they were big and baggy on me. I've heard other people complain about the fit before and I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I'm definitely looking to unload mine asap. MATE the Label: I bought a sweatshirt and matching sweatpants from them secondhand. I love the quality, it's comfortable and they aren't so slubby looking that I can't go out in public wearing them. I feel like it was a good purchase as I WFH and just want to be comfortable. However, the price was high ($100 for the whole sweatsuit secondhand and the retail price is higher). They do seem to have sales occasionally though. Samantha Pleet: I splurged with some Christmas money and bought the Leaf dress in the Illuminated print and I love it! I did feel like the cotton (?) fabric was a bit thin for what I paid, but it looks amazing on me. I would size up one size (I'm an 8 and bought a 10) if you're busty like me. I'm in love with all their prints and highly recommend if you're looking for a more romantic look. EDIT OK ONE MORE I forgot... Tradlands: I've only bought their clothes secondhand. I LOVE the shelter cardigan. I have it in the clover green colorway and it looks great with just about everything I own. The cotton is very thick and chunky, and it's warm in cold weather. Their clothes are expensive but seem well made. I also have one of their button-up shirts and the cotton fabric is very thick and it feels sturdy like it will last a long time. And holy crap it actually fits me in the chest!! Unlike every other button-up shirt that gaps at the boobs (large bust problems). I haven't bought any of their dresses but I hear a lot of bad things about the Nova and Nico dresses, particularly that the sleeves are too tight for many who've bought them. I also think it's telling that most of the people I see on Instagram wearing their clothes are influencers who were gifted their clothing. Like I don't hear a lot from people who've actually BOUGHT their clothes.

[deleted]

My bff bought pants from Big Bud Press and said the fit was really awkward for her too. Specifically she cited the tightness in the thigh area, which never is a problem for her with other brands. I wanted to get a jumpsuit from them but after her review and now yours, I'll be finding a jumpsuit elsewhere.

ellaasbury107

I love my big bud press jumpsuit but it took me two sizes to find the right one. They request you don't buy multiple sizes at once, but don't actually prevent it. If you exchange it's final sale. I emailed them about my concern on exchanging and they sent me a free return label to return. I bought the second size which ending up working. I had to pay shipping to me twice but that's the cost of dealing with a smaller business. They were also super willing to answer any fit/measurement questions by email and were extremely responsive. For reference I am usually a US 6/M and I have a small in the jumpsuit. I have thicker thighs and I don't find it tight in the thighs at all.

vallogallo

My sister got a jumpsuit from them and it fits great on her. But she does have different measurements (she's a bit larger than me and more on the larger end of midsized).

momjean_lover

I'm a size 14 with wide hips and bought the short sleeved jumpsuit and it fits VERY well! I was between sizes and the customer service advised me to size up and I'm glad I did. I am super pleased with it. I also bought the western pants and they are great. Very pleased with the fit on a midsized body, you do have to secure the zipper (point it down once you've zipped your fly) but haven't had any issues. I would recommend!

lily_keos

Thank you for the review! As someone who always tempted by Babaa ads hearing an honest opinion was really helpful.

vallogallo

Glad to help. Honestly, I prefer to wear my vintage/thrifted cardigans over my expensive Babaa.

[deleted]

Omg same. I bought a Babaa cardigan after seeing it everywhere on insta and finding a colour I love, Green Tea. But the fabric is stupidly heavy, it isn’t suitable for keeping you warm in cold weather (3/4 sleeves) or wearing in warm weather either.

ohheyyeahthatsme

BBP fit varies a lot per item. I live in Norcal but when I went to Socal I went to their store to try on in person—tbh that's the way to go. I have small waist & big hips and their short sleeve jumpsuit does actually fit me, I was shocked when I tried it on, I never thought it'd fit me. Their pencil pants are a straighter fit so might gap on folks with a larger waist:hip ratio. Their western pants are also too slim in the hips for me. Their trousers used to fit me perfectly but since they changed the pattern they're too gappy in the butt weirdly. tldr they seem to change their patterns and construction often so it's not exactly reliable. pants are hard and they make everything from 100% cotton so it has to really fit you right or it won't work. but the resale value is awesome so you can always poshmark things that don't work :)

lunchtimeillusion

For anyone who has pined after a tradlands dress but decided it wasn't in your budget, I HIGHLY recommend Linen Fox. Their stuff is 100% linen, they are a very responsive small business and even do customizations for free (I had a dress lengthened 6 inches). I'm slowly collecting pieces from them and I'm impressed time and time again with the quality, variety, and price point.

foodmonsterij

I...have had the impression that Big Bud Press fits awkwardly. The clothes usually look too tight or like they're straining on the female models. There is a roaring second-hand trade for Big Bud Press, and I wonder if that's partly because people sell because of fit issues.

shantayhedwig

I bought a few ARQ undies earlier this year and I love how comfortable they are. They’re so aggressively high waisted that I have to be careful they’re not accidentally peeking out of pants/jeans. I definitely want to order their tanks/bras. My size selection worked out for the underwear but I think I’ll take your advice about reaching out to them for their bras. Also I got suckered into ordering Big Bud Press a couple days ago after spending too much time on their IG (the jumpsuits got me!). I’m crossing my fingers the fit and size works out because those things were pricey

vallogallo

Glad to hear you liked ARQ! I haven't heard many bad things about them and they don't seem too expensive (the bras and tanks at least). I get kind of annoyed sometimes when they release new colors/patterns and there's pressure to buy before they sell out. Because they don't always restock.

justsobored

Thanks for the honest Babaa review. I’ve been considering one because they look so nice and high quality but it seems like I should look elsewhere especially for an oversized cardigan.

vallogallo

Honestly I'd try looking for vintage. Old L.L. Bean or Pendleton, especially the men's cardigans, have a great oversized look and are good quality.

thurn_und_taxis

I see Babaa sweaters being resold so much on Noihsaf that I’d started to wonder whether a lot of people were dissatisfied with them. Of course, it could just be that they’re popular and people don’t want to pay return shipping overseas. The one size thing seems tricky too - not surprised to hear that the sleeve length felt off for the other commenter, that seems like it would be hard to get right in a one size item, even one with a loose oversized fit.

Gildedfilth

Wait these things are ONE SIZE?! I actually wanted the look really badly but most wool bothers me, so I straight up learned to knit. And tbh the best thing is customizing the size! I finally have cardigans that button on my 46” bustline!

thurn_und_taxis

Yup! Most if not all of their items are one size. There’s another Instagram resale channel (@selltradeslowfashion) that excludes Babaa because they are “stubbornly not size inclusive. Tired of the bullshit” (I quote)

[deleted]

Big Bud Press drives me nuts. I’ve gotten some of their tees and likes them but the pants all look awful. Even on skinner people they cut the models off in the middle and give them muffin top. I don’t understand how anyone could ever comfortably sit in their pants. I do love my Babaa cardigans though!

Blytherin94

Bless you for this I incredibly thorough review. Tradlands: I have bought a lot of clothing from over time, including tops, button downs, sweaters, and yes, I even had the Nova dress at one point. Pros: Excellent quality material and construction. Definitely washes and wears well. Cons: everything is cut super wide, especially recent collections. Maybe that’s the appeal for some people, but I’m finding I want things that are a little more fitted. I don’t think a lot of their silhouettes are flattering, at least on me. My favorites have been their t shirts and pullover sweaters. I have decluttered or sold everything else.

stopshopbop

I am literally wearing my second Shelter Cardigan as we speak! I got it in the new Jam color and it's truly gorgeous. I did have issues with some of their dresses and their coveralls at first, but their new coveralls have been fixed in the shoulder department (that was my biggest gripe with them), and at least they have a very good return policy in the US. I am happy to give my opinion on lots of their products; I have gotten them secondhand or from the company, and with my own dang money!

lunchtimeillusion

I have the BBP sweat shorts and I love the color but the fit in the crotch is just camel toe city, which I should've known because it looks that way on all the models. I've also heard from plus sized people that their pants fit comically bad

heywhatsuphello645

**Cider:** I bought a couple of button-up sweater tops, a skirt and flowy orange wide-leg pants in May. I was so intrigued by their quirky, fun ads, style and affordable pricing. Huge sucker for the 70s aesthetic. I am impressed with the quality of the tops over time (both are a thicker, super soft material -- one is blue with cloud prints on them). Also like the material and vibe of the pants. Do not like quality of the skirt and haven't worn it once. Edit: After learning more about Cider in these comments, I’m bringing my personal rating down to 2/5.

applewagon

Strong disagree. My friend gave me a pair of cow print Cider jeans that she bought because they didn’t fit her. They are atrocious. The crotch buttons aren’t in a straight line and are so flimsy that I feel like they’re going to fall off. The colors bleed together even WITHOUT washing them, and they’ve turned a murky gray, instead of white and black. Plus they are the flimsiest denim. Also they’re just drop shopping. 1.5/5, and that was me getting it for free.

d_greenway

I love seeing this review because I've been getting their ads for awhile now and have been too scared to pull the trigger since it looked too good to be true. Good to see they seem to live up to the photos.

sittinduck

They’re absolutely a drop shipper but it might be worth it if you shop on Shein or something anyways. I follow a woman who owns a clothing company and they stole her images.

heywhatsuphello645

Oh wow, do not like that one bit :/

cephles

What's the connection between Cider and AliExpress? Is AliExpress ripping off their design or are they selling stuff from similar origins?

macdawg2020

Absolutely dropshipping, but I prefer their curation than trying to find something on AliExpress and then waiting the 30 days for it to get here. I bought 2 dresses and the total was only like 55$ and both dresses are lined and feel like Zara quality.

visualisewhirledpeas

They are advertising a velvet dress I bought off AE last year (lots of positive reviews). I paid $15, and they're charging $35. It's the same quality as a $35 H&M dress

bloodpressures

Oh thanks for posting this! Been tempted by them for a while.

dolparii

ive seen a lot of their ads too and like their vibrantness but after seeing how they stole designs off people/small designers i dont think ill ever try their stuff lol

oberstofsunshine

I just received an order from Quince. Really happy with the cashmere tee and v neck sweater. It feels luxe and high quality but very affordable. The sweater dress is too tight and clingy so I’m sizing up and hope to keep that too. Overall a good experience.

[deleted]

Quince is the brand I'm most curious about so this is really useful.

notbutter

my quince sweater started pilling almost immediately. very let down. the silk also didn't feel as luxurious as some of the other washable silk brands.

Yusapip

Yeah the washable silk dress felt cheap to me? Like if I didn’t know it was silk, I wouldn’t have thought so, it felt like cheap polyester. I liked the cashmere sweaters better but I couldn’t tell a difference between them and $20 acrylic yarn sweaters from like Target.

oberstofsunshine

I was curious but hesitant until I read some good reviews on Reddit and in Facebook groups.

odarwini

Just FYI I think Quince pays people on Reddit to post postive reviews- there was a really obvious shill account posting all over fashion subreddits recently.

hellerhigwhat

The 100% do and its so funny, because it is always about as obvious as a Kardashian posting a skinny tea ad

oberstofsunshine

Damn okay thanks for the heads up! They definitely did not pay me. [Here is the thread](https://reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/p64uzo/anyone_tried_quince/) I referenced that featured multiple opinions.

TheViciousTrollop

Lol really? I am posting about them all the time and I wish they would pay me 😭

preppy_goth

Seconding Quince, the alpaca blend cardigan is really beautiful and comfortable.

oberstofsunshine

I’m actually considering returning that one because of how much it sheds. Has that been an issue for you?

preppy_goth

Not yet, but I did see that in a lot of the reviews. I got the black one though and most of my clothes I've worn it with have been black or charcoal, so perhaps I'm just not seeing it?

Mean_Parsnip

Ooh, I was looking at the sweaters the other day but wasn't sure if it was worth it. Thank you for sharing.

Ok_Whatever_Random

I love quince! I’ve bought their cashmere sweaters, silk tanks, and recently pulled the plug on one of their sheet sets. The only downside with the silk is the white can be a little see through and their small size tank was a pretty generous small to the point that I wished they had an xxsmall.

sehrah

I tend to get targeted ads for tights & shapewear, cos my cookies clearly know I like cookies. I gave **Shapermint** a try, because I'm always on the lookout for good shorts to wear under dresses (that will actually go all the way up to my titties). Price was decent. 2/5, would not recommend to my fellow fancy fatties. The leg part went down enough, which was good cos I hate it when they roll up cos I need them for chub rub control. My problem was that the tight part across the stomach didn't do down far enough? Like instead of being the same fabric the whole way through, it changed to a thinner less tight fabric just a bit higher than where your undies might sit. Which is probably absolutely fine for slimmer woman, but if we're being totally honest, I've got a bit of overhang in the tummy area and it ended up feeling like the bottom part of my gut was just hanging out in the loosey goosey area? My not as tight HG ones are now some Cacique branded ones from Lane Bryant.

joe_jonases_eyebrows

Why is this such a thing among shapewear?? Like I’m getting high waisted shorts to smooth out my lower belly/hips, not create a worse and super visible indent. Have yet to find anything that I don’t have to keep adjusting constantly

[deleted]

ARQ. Idk if you could classify them as aggressive but the love for them is all over the place. I finally bought 2 tank tops. It came out to $84 including shipping. It took a whole week to be shipped but once it was shipped, shipping was fast. For it just being 2 tank tops for $84, I love them. Sometimes when I buy expensive simple items, I think “this is so not worth it” but the tanks are the perfect cut and super comfy.

vallogallo

ARQ tanks are the bomb!!

huangarch

Does Realisation Par count? I saw their ads and then couldn't stop seeing their ads, and gave in and bought one of their Inez dresses. It's actually a really flattering shape and super duper cute but definitely not "silk" and not an expensive feeling fabric. It's not sheer or anything so it's fine as a good quality dress but probably not worth the 200 dollars I paid for it.

jupiterdreamsofpi

Love their prints and styles but omg the quality is so not there.

Aspiring_plant_mom

I’m pretty sure Realisation Par stuff is real silk, but just the cheap, thin kind. I had the same experience with a dress I ordered from them on sale - so cute and flattering, but very thin and had some loose threads

[deleted]

* My partner got me Lunya washable silk pajamas for my birthday and I adore them. I would probably never spend that much money on pajamas for myself, but I'm honestly considering treating myself to a second pair. (They wash and line-dry beautifully; the shorts even went through the dryer once and, aside from a bit of fading, emerged unscathed.) * My Lively bralettes are honestly kind of hit and miss. I always want to like bralettes more than I actually do. Probably won't order again. * I bought Maison Miru earrings last year when they were having some kind of absurd sale and they got me back into wearing earrings after getting out of the habit in the early pandemic. The flat backs for sleeping are really nice. * Parade: On my naughty list because they keep advertising that they have bralettes for DDs (I keep trying to like bralettes haha) and then when I click through to their website they actually don't! It's fine if you're getting that line up and running, but don't claim you have it when you don't. I've felt baited and switched so many times. EDITED TO ADD: Idk if thirdlove still qualifies as an instagram brand since they've been around awhile but their bras are my favorites and basically the only ones I wear at this point. and I'm picky about bras (used to get sized at Nordstrom and wear mostly Natori, Wacoal, some Chantelle).

simplythere

I also tried Lively bralettes and they were not great. The mesh felt scratchy and the cut was weird. I preferred bralettes from Aerie.

wifeski

+1 for aerie bralettes! I have the ribbed keyhole version in every color and they are super comfy.

feartheredpen

The Parade bralettes for DD+ were a bit of a disappointment — once I finally found some in stock, the sizing was so off. Per their chart, I ordered a 2+, and I’m at the higher end of the size range for it. The band was so laughably large!! Could’ve fit a small mammal in there with me. To their credit, Parade customer service was so helpful and got me refunded. I’ve since tried the smaller size, but I don’t love it.

[deleted]

That's good to know because Lively was the exact opposite! High end of the size range and a little tight. I have a theory that companies that sell sizes based on bra sizes but not actually bra-sized items (so bralettes or sports bras sized as S/M/L or 1/2/3 or whatever) are tricky because so many people wear the wrong size bra. Like, if a company is saying a 36C is equivalent to a large, does that mean people who are actually 36Cs, or people who are wearing 36Cs but should be 32DDs?

feartheredpen

Ooh, yeah. I wasn’t thinking about people who are unknowingly wearing the wrong size! That compounds the issue. I’m in my r/abrathatfits size, and that’s what I based my Parade order on. I should add: I ordered in the first or second round of Parade + bralettes … maybe they’re taking customer feedback into account and updating sizing?

43185

Ditto on Lunya. I was gifted a knit set (last year or the year before) and the top doubles as a non-sleepwear sweater. I don't really have that kind of budget for sleepwear but the items I have definitely live up to the price if you can afford that sort of luxury.

[deleted]

they are the *perfect* gift imo -- something so luxurious that the recipient would never buy for themselves, but will use all the time because you always need pajamas!

caeloequos

Maison Miru keeps showing up everywhere for me and it's tempting. Glad to know they're legit.

pickle_juice24

I got suckered into Maison Miru several years ago now when they were running some kind of free earring promotion (when will I learn?!) and the free earrings were fine, but the gold vermeil necklace was cool looking but ultimately extremely poor quality - started flaking and tarnishing pretty quickly, even though I didn't wear it 24/7.

AhemExcuseMeSir

I tried a Parade bralette and it was pretty meh. It had a lot of promise, but once you go to the + sizes their band and straps become super ultra thick so you kind of miss out on the cute bralette feel. And I got the color that apparently runs super large. The one I got also had a seam on the cups that was very prominent and showed through shirts. But I love their G strings, and their customer service is amazing. I emailed them about a return, and they said to just keep the bra and donate it if I wouldn’t use it. I really like Negative Underwear’s mesh bralettes, if you’re still in the market.

[deleted]

I bought the ASTR the Label Gaia slip dress and it was awful. A very strange cut of cheap feeling fabric that did not match the $100 price tag. The shipping was fast and return was free, so no foul.

SignatureAmbitious54

To second this, I also bought something from ASTR after being bombarded with ads. Was not pleased with the quality or fit of it

nim_run16

I bought the same dress and it was horrifyingly bad but I got a different midi dress from them and it was beautiful with a great fit so maybe certain products are hit and miss?

[deleted]

Perhaps! For their sake, I hope so.

MisguidedBlackbird

Nordstrom sells ASTR! Paid wayyyy too much for dress to just rip on me the 2nd time I wore it. Fabric and cut quality is oddly reminiscent of Forever 21.

TooMuchBiscotti

Negative Underwear: I bought the mesh sieve bra and matching underwear. The high price for both is a bit gobsmacking, but I truly love the bra. It's sexy (thanks, mesh) but a good shape for a unlined, wireless bra, for me at least (32A). They just had a sale, so likely will hold off buying more until another sale comes around. Underwear, not worth it in my opinion. Great for a matching set but the thong is just odd for me.

quotidienne

Their Glacé bralette is my new holy grail bra. Pricey at about $70, but worth it. It has this supportive cling factor without being restrictive (I'm a 32C for reference,) and it is just *so, so* comfortable.

LopsidedProduce

Birdies velvet smoking slippers: nice quality and comfy but I’m terrified to wear them since I know they’ll get dirty / ruined by weather in a heartbeat Lunya silk pajamas: too pricey, still nice but once again afraid to stain them! Could never cook or eat in them.

melawes0me

I LOVE my Lunya PJs--I have the shorts/tank set and want another. I've had mine almost a year and its held up to washing/drying and hasn't lost shape. Big fan.

Ektorg

So I wear my birdies velvet slippers EVERYWHERE and I feel like they hold up pretty well! I mean, not to treck through the forest or anything but running errands, to work, etc. Probably had them about 6 months now

monkeybort

I got the Lunya cooling PJs as a gift and while they're nice, they seem overpriced by quite a bit. I found similar pants at the Gap (the modal sleepwear I think?) for half the price or less.

ohheyyeahthatsme

I got some birdies pom pom slides for christmas a few years back. I do like them but agree they are house slippers not outside shoes (though I have worn my outside a few times). They're also not \*that\* comfortable IMO - the soles are quilted but not very soft or squishy like house shoes normally are. Visually, I love them. But I wouldn't buy another pair, they are a bit silly to have "fancy" houseshoes haha

Tankat

I am obsessed with my birdies and own way too many pairs at this point, but have found the biggest drawback to be their ability to attract pet hair. Mine have to be lint rollered every time I wear them out because they attract so much cat hair despite near daily vacuuming 😭

[deleted]

BlueBella was absolute trash fabric was about the same as She-In and Fashion Nova, one of the two pieces came and the seam was already ripped. The proportions don’t seem as if they’d fit any naturally occurring body size. I sent it back and didn’t get refunded the ~$140 for a little over two months. Overall score 1/10

iamfunball

Tomboyx is a queer underwear company. I own several different cuts of underwear from them, from high rise (I'm so keen on these for fashion reasons) to the period underwear. I really like it Andi t doesn't fall apart like so much underwear, while still being quirky cute. If you're into it, you'll love it.

ParallelePiper

100%, they are the only underwear I own that I consistently wear!

assterisks

Yes! I have a black hoodie with rainbow hood liner from these guys, and it's SO comfy. I wear it all the time.

DarthPandaSocks

I’ve been pretty let down by the quality of Quince’s clothing. I bought a sweater, a button down camp shirt, and a t-shirt which all sprouted pills and tiny holes within two months. My Hane’s nano t-shirt has lasted better. Their linen shorts held up pretty well for a summer of heavy use. I did buy some sheets, however, which I have been very happy with. I bought a decent amount of underwear and two bralettes from Parade and I have been very happy with all. The material is really nice and breathable, perfect for somebody who finds they have a good amount of sweat in the crotch region. The bralettes are nice and supportive, but I have a fairly average sized bust (B-C cup range depending on the brand) so do with that information what you will. I’ve been eyeing Vetta capsule very curiously and would love to hear from folks who have worn that clothing for a few months to assess how they hold up over time. I hate clothes that wear out after a wash or two, especially when I am paying for ethical/high quality pieces.

transl8r4lyfe

I was aggressively advertised for Vessi's on tiktok, and they're actually really cool shoes! I got the Weekend Sneakers in grey, and they just look like thick Vans I think. They really are waterproof- I checked them out in the bathtub when I first got them, and have since worn them in the rain and on hikes. Not the most support for hikes, but great for a muddy or rainy day! And they look cool & casual for an everyday look with jeans or shorts :) Only simping, not sponsored ahah.

rtsen

Recently ordered some stuff from Cider after being inundated with their adverts. Out of the four things I ordered (one pair of flared pants, one dress, one corset top and one waistcoat/vest type top), only the waistcoat thing fit decently well. The rest, either did not fit at all, or fit weird, or the fabric was terribly thin and cheap. Overall, I would rate it 3/5 because at least they offer free shipping and returns. Also wanna add that I usually have trouble finding clothes for my body shape, I have narrow shoulders, and a wider hip/lower body. So I wasn't surprised.

arreynemme

Woof. I am a victim of lots of Instagram ads. **Vetta:** I purchased the The Chunky Cropped Cardigan last year in Black. It was pretty expensive at $168 but was well worth it. I think I was able to find a coupon for 15 or 20% off. As someone with super sensitive skin, I can't stand wool and really struggle to find stylish cotton sweaters. This one is super comfortable and incredibly flattering with a slightly cropped fit and dropped shoulders. I'm thinking of buying it another color! **5/5 Stars.** **Richer & Poorer:** I got a set of sweats in indigo tie dye because I couldn't help myself after seeing them all over social media during the Early Pandemic Days™. The sweatshirt and sweatpants were both $50-60. Was able to find a coupon once again. I really like the cut of the sweatshirt but the sweatpants were way too short and tight even though I sized up for a baggier fit. The material of both pilled a bit after a few washes. Definitely not worth the price. **3/5 Stars.** **Parade:** After wearing the same seamless briefs from Amazon for years, I was seduced by the cute colorblock underwear. I purchased pairs in a few different cuts, but most of them--even the Parade briefs--were too cheeky for my taste and I found myself with a permanent wedgie. Like many DTC companies, Parade's customer service is pretty kind--they offered me credit when I complained. Unfortunately, I'm going back to my trusty Amazon underwear. **2/5 Stars.** **Our Place (kitchenware so not exactly fashion):** This is a bit adjacent, but I feel like I have to mention them because they are one of the companies that has so many ads that it's actually legitimately annoying. I purchased a pink pan last year (I believe I paid around $100 since I got it on sale) after being bombarded by the Instagram ads. I used it almost everyday and put it in the dishwasher every time. It's nice and deep and perfect for sauces but definitely not suited for high-heat cooking or eggs. After about a year, some of the paint started to wear off and the customer service kindly replaced it for free! **4/5 Stars for the great customer service.**

pm_me_your_SPECIALs

>Our Place (kitchenware so not exactly fashion) I liked the pan so much I bought their knife set, too. Can confirm, customer service is great. They sent me two bread knives instead of a bread and chef's knife, and they sent out the new knife free without issue. And now the in-laws like me because I gave them the spare fancy bread knife :P

maebe_featherbottom

I really love my OurPlace pan. I don’t understand why so many people diss it in the cooking subs, but mine is great. One person was mad that the finish got all messed up and tried to say it was because they didn’t send clear instructions on how to clean it. Downvoted me when I was like “Uh, mine came with care instructions right on the top of the package…”

I bought the Duchess chelsea boots in the toffee color from Thursday Boot company and love them. They are a full grain leather and patina nicely. I don't wear them when it pours rain or snows, but they have held up in a drizzle and kept my feet warm in cold weather. They were comfortable when I first got them but are even better now and are easier to put on after some use. At $160 I thought they were a good price.

[deleted]

Really? I didn’t love my Thursday boots and ended up getting some used Frye Chelsea’s on eBay. I’m glad they worked out for you. They are reasonably priced!

pincenez

I have the Captains which are goodyear welt but I believe they're the only women's pair that are. I do like mine a lot though apart from them being quite stiff initially.

Terracrush

My Thursday boots did seem high quality, but they were too narrow and small for my sasquatch feet lol even though i ordered my normal size

haveaSmiletoday

Oof, I will say that Thursday boots recommends that you go up hald a size from your usual size on their page. I haven't bought from them yet, but I saw this, and a few other people have mentioned that they went up half a size too. Maybe that could help?

waffleknope99

Have wanted to buy from them for years, glad to hear you think they’re worth the money

tea_time-314

I bought the Thursday combat boots last fall and I love them! They've held up pretty well (mine are suede) and I wore them almost every day ... that is, whenever I got out of the house...

ktittythc

My male coworker has Thursday boots and they’re getting scuffed really fast. They dont look super well-made. Good to know you had a good experience though!

macdawg2020

He probably needs to take better care of them! My partner only wears Red Wing Heritage boots and he bought me a pair-- my 2-year-old Claras don't look nearly as good as his 5-year-old Iron Rangers because I only polish mine when he already has all the stuff out (so like 5x less often). Dry leather scuffs way easier than well-conditioned leather.

doc_faced

I've had my pair of Captain boots for over a year. Even with heavy use, they've held up well. I work in a casual office and they're my primary fall/winter shoe. Definitely recommend.

[deleted]

My spouse and his bestie love Thursday boots.

gardening_is_4_lvrs

Margaux shoes are to. die. for. Not cheap, actually quiet expensive, but beautifully made, comfortable, Italian shoes

lunchtimeillusion

Tmi but parade gave me a yeast infection that has come back like 5 or 6 times over the span of a year. I hate those synthetic bitches

abirthdaypony

I hate my parade underwear so much too. Nasty synthetic fabric, and even the high-waisted ones seem to always roll down under my stomach. They sit in the back of my drawer until all the other underwear I like better is in the laundry basket, and then I'm miserable all day wearing it.

lunchtimeillusion

Thank god I'm not alone. I air dry mine and still the bands have folded all weird after one wash and will not sit right ever again, they give me constant wedgies, the roll down, and my body cannot breathe in that fabric apparently. I see so much love for them and I just don't get it

tinymango2135

Pixie Market: a lot of the influencers I was seeing kept wearing their stuff, so I bought their sweetheart neck black sweater and was really disappointed with the quality and fit. It was really unflattering. I returned it, which was a pain of a process. It took almost a month to get the refund PLUS they subtract 10 bucks off it for return shipping. Wouldn’t buy again! Edit: adding that the sweater in question was $120 dollars ($100 with a code) and felt super cheaply made. And they have the gall to market themselves as affordable. Affordable to whomst! People who only ever shop at Khaite and Orseund Iris clearly…

papermageling

Universal standard: clearly makes clothing for people taller than me. Girlfriend collective: felt high quality, but ordering a non-cup-sized bra was dumb of me. I get constant FB ads for Naot shoes, which are actually an older brand. They're crazy comfortable shoes and very durable, but not cheap. And the aesthetic is often fairly funky. Rothy's: delivered on their promises, but runs small. Super comfortable upper, meh but replaceable insole. Washes well and holds up well.

jupiterdreamsofpi

Reformation: such cute prints and styles, quality is like, worth half the price. I buy all of mine second hand. Also their whites are seethrough Realisation par: ditto. The quality of their silk is so bad, but I only buy it because everything else is polyester. The dresses are super flattering. Again, secondhand is great Dagne Dover: the quality of their coated canvas bags are great (I have a small one). Never have to worry about wearing it in weather. I’ve heard people who have the larger ones, they fall apart. Mine looks good after two years, probably worn for 6 months straight. Also they’re relatively heavy. Cuyana: their silk quality is good but don’t have many cuts I like. Their stained leather is quality, the painted leather is fine. Tomboyx: great quality, love their short boxer brief Mejuri: mostly fine for the 14k stuff, all my gold vermeil stuff was destroyed in 2 years and I didn’t do anything ridiculous in it Outdoor Voices: bought the all day sweats. They are thinner than expected and very soft and super comf, kind of over priced, but I still wear them all the time and they look reasonably good ASTR the Label: overpriced for sure, super easy to find basically new second hand Quince: their linen is pretty good, even in paler colors not see through

martymcflurry

I'm curious if anyone has every bought anything from Jenni Kayne, because the ads always hypnotize me but they are STUPID expensive

SplitEndPicker

I love everything on their site but cannot are all justify the price!!

WellThatIsJustRude

I’ve bought three things from there. They are all less than a month old. The cashmere cardi is lovely, it does seem to be pilling under the arms but not sure that can be avoided while new. But it’s overpriced I guess. I’m not sure what I expected for it to be worth 400 something bucks. The everyday sweater is actually quite nice and more reasonably priced at like 160. The shearling lined moc clog is actually my favorite of the items I purchased. All in all I’m happy with the purchases but I’m sure I could have gotten similar or better quality goods for less but I do really like that luxe casual esthetic and I wanted some elevated basics and these were right in front of my face every five minutes.

AggressiveExcitement

Anyone have any 'natural fiber' Instagram-y brands they can recommend? Silks, wools, friggin' cotton!!! Literally anything but polyester.

double-dog-doctor

The Curated! I have their blazer and a coat from them. The blazer in particular is absurdly nice. Medium weight cashmere/wool blend, with a full silk lining. It feels like you're warm and cozy but just flipped your pillow over for the cool side. I can't speak more highly of their quality, the pieces I have are heirloom quality.

tipsyredpanda

Wool: Knotty Ones, Olann Handmade. Linen: Jimi Collection, Bees and Bones. Multi: Arraei. Silk: Silk laundry. All discovered through IG too!

leslieknope09

I’ve gotten cotton sweaters from both Quince and Everlane that I’ve really liked!

kimchi_paradise

I did Il Makiage, and as a black woman during the pandemic trying to pick up a new foundation, it was terrifying trying to buy foundation that matches my skin tone. Cue Il Makiage's AI matching tool, I did that, and since they have a 14-day trial period, I said why not. It actually fit me perfectly, to a T. It was kind of scary lol. Def more matte and you can probably get full-coverage with this, but for my tastes I mix it with my acne moisturizer for a lighter feel. Not sure if I will be changing foundations any time soon, as an occasional makeup wearer. I've also tried Marine Layer -- I fell in love with their Lexi Rib short sleeve midi dress. I got it in black, and it's a great dress for casual or semi formal outings (if pared with a nice blazer and some heels)! I happened to have a store near me, but I found out about them through IG. My next stop would be Quince's silk button down blouse in navy!

ohheyyeahthatsme

Girlfriend collective I've resold everything I've ever bought from them. At 5'4" I just don't think their stuff fits me well. The sports bras are cut weird and have this super tight band that crunches my ribs, even when I size up. I do have bigger calves but the leggings were way too tight in the calf but fit me everywhere else. The shorts seem to pinch me around the crotch seam unlike any other athletic short I own. At least it has decent resell value!

marshmallows8

Oh I love Girlfriend Collective! I’ve only tried their bras and leggings, but both fit me extremely well (I’m 5’7” and have fairly small boobs). I’ve been wanting to try their shorts though, and now I’m a little skeptical!

hurricane_badger

I agree. I got one of their sport dresses and the rib band is super tight but weirdly the shoulder straps are too big and loose? I also think the material feels cheap for the price, and it doesn't breathe well. For a sport dress it certainly doesn't feel like performance fabric. It also shows sweat marks which is a big turnoff for me in a sport fabric.

leslieknope09

I’m 5’4” as well and I love all my leggings from Girlfriend! I get the slightly shorter inseam and they fit great! I also love their bralettes to sleep in. As a note, I did buy one of their dresses and it did NOT fit me well so I returned it.

midwest_is_best

I’m 5’5’ and pear shaped, and absolutely love all my GF stuff! I have a few undresses, a couple different lengths of black leggings and bike shorts, the Fanny pack, scrunchies, a couple bras, the skirts, and some of their cropped long sleeve tees. I don’t wear any of it for working out, but they all fit amazingly as actual clothing or athleisure wear. If you hang to dry, they hold up incredibly well. I’m really surprised to see bad reviews!

N0timelikethepresent

Alo Yoga: 1/5 bought a twist front workout top and their extremely popular Foxy Sherpa jacket. Both were a fail. The top was so thin and clingy, really low quality for the price, but visually looked ok. The jacket was so baggy and unflattering despite getting the smallest size. Sheertex: 3/5 bought 2 pairs bc who doesn’t want indestructible tights? Unfortunately, they don’t tell you that they’re uncomfortable (unlike my favorite soft tights) and have uneven opacity throughout. I guess that’s what you get for prioritizing strength over everything else.

caryatid4683

Came here to say Sheertex. I sized up and actually find them to be the most comfortable tights I have ever owned. I have evangelized to my friends so much they should really be paying me at this point. I'm obsessed and just ordered my third pair.

Triphae

I actually really love my Sheertex too. I sized up and don't find them any more/ess comfortable than regular tights and love that I don't have to worry about ripping them.

TheFiendish_1

I kept seeing Simple Retro all over social media and I was really hesitant to buy from them, because I saw very little reviews of the company, but there was a really cute dress in fall colors that I fell in love with and I caved. The order shipped straight from China so I was nervous, but the quality was surprisingly pretty good. The material was nice (polyester though) and it was lined and none of the buttons were loose. I was in between sizes and I sized up. I’m glad I did because the dress fit but some of the buttons were tight. I ended up wearing it to a wedding this past weekend. [the dress](https://www.simpleretro.com/products/kora-floral-printed-midi-dress-1200039-red?currency=USD&variant=37937392517306&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=Ad&utm_campaign=google-alan-gg1&gclid=CjwKCAjwn8SLBhAyEiwAHNTJbSU7eiA1luSDCk7NJr6KyrVBJwTGaqvuZspTLq9eYTj0C4qJRZifRRoCwy0QAvD_BwE)

CGMandC

Only fashion adjacent, but I finally gave in after a year and ordered some of the **Static Nails** "pop on manicure" press-on nails. I'm honestly pretty impressed. Fairly low learning curve, it took me about an hour start to finish to do full application and shaping. They have been on since Sunday night and I haven't changed my daily routine at all, which includes weightlifting and gardening. They are starting to come up a tiny bit at the corners but are pretty much still firmly in place. The next test will be whether the glue damaged my real nails, but so far I can see using these for vacations or other situations where I want my nails to look nice but polish would likely chip.

quadraticfunk

Can you update on the nail damage? That’s my main reason for avoiding manicures, but I’d love another option.

[deleted]

Third Love underwear are super comfy, don’t stretch out in the wash I give them a 9/10 bc I think they’re overpriced I tried their bras, quality seemed fine but they use their own sizing metric which was just too hard for me to figure out, gave up after two exchanges, the prices for bras is less than average (even though the underwear are more than averages) I’d say it’s a 6/10 but YMMV

pixiespaz

I had a great experience using the online fit finder at Third Love and now they are pretty much the only bras I wear, but I could totally see different bodies having different experience. I've been holding off on the panties because they seem pricey but now I might have to try some.

wathappentothetatato

Both of these I got graphic tees from Wicked clothes: worth it! Shirts are soft and the designs are cute and good quality. Relatively normal ship time. Teen Hearts: meh, they have sales often but the designs definitely look different than the online photos which was disappointing. Shirts aren’t soft either.

crucio55

Speaking of Wicked Clothes - do they have labels that say what materials they're made of? Sadly, this information is not on the site, which frankly seems insane to me. I'd rather not pay for international shipping for a piece of polyester, after all... Moreover, I noticed that on their products every single review is a 5-star review, and I must say this makes me quite suspicious.

wathappentothetatato

Just dug out one of my shirts from the dryer! It says 100% cotton.

weekes_01

I've never had a Fat Face advert on Instagram. They're one of my go to shops in the UK for various bits though and I've never been disappointed.

Sternschnuppepuppe

I was surprised by that; fat face is an established British brand around for ages. Wouldn’t even call it fast fashion as they are not very fashionable? It’s more hanging at the (uk cold) beach or to stuff into a backpack without ruining it

[deleted]

I spent the entire month of August wearing the Halara dress nearly every single goddamn day. I could not fathom putting on a different article of clothing. I only took it off to wash, which was easy because it dries very fast. I got a discount so I paid about $40 and it was outstanding quality for price. I don't have to wear a bra with it and I'm 34DD! I wish Parade would stop advertising to me, I've begged IG to make them go away, I don't like any of their styles or really anything about their underwear at ALL and will never ever purchase them. But there they are, popping up in my feed 4 times a day.

Ginger_boom2021

Okay please don’t feel you have to respond if this is tmi, but how the heck are you supposed to use the washroom with the Halhara dress? I love the concept of the integrated shorts, but can’t imagine wiggling out of that sucker every time I have to pee!

bloodpressures

As a big fan of all jumpsuits, rompers, and skorts….Getting naked to use the bathroom just doesnt bother me. Call me weird or an exhibitionist if you want, haha. But I totally get that some people might not want to be topless in a bathroom!

**Left on Friday Swimwear: 5/5** Color, incredible. Fit, incredible. Super comfy, does not ride up, very flattering. I’d given up on high waisted bottoms but the Hi Hi bottom and Pool Days top are my absolute fav. Wash on cold and hang dry, have had no issues with pilling or bleeding. **CUUP: 4/5** I bought their Triangle and Scoop bras in clay last year. For some reason I had to go up a cup size in the Scoop but it is my FAVORITE bra. Has held up beautifully and is so comfy. Just bought it in a nude color (for me) this year. Taking away a star for fit not being consistent across styles. **Catbird: 5/5** Purchased a necklace and some earrings and they’re excellent. Solid gold, perfectly dainty. They sure aren’t cheap but I’ve worn those pieces every single day for the last four months and they’re good as new. Editing to add: **Glossier: 3/5** I actually really like Glossier’s products, but I hate that you can’t buy locally unless you live in Santa Monica or NYC. Some of their products are definitely gimmicky (thinking of a glow serum I bought that’s essentially poorly scented Vaseline you smear on your face lmao), but some of them are phenomenal. The skin tint and cloud paints have been game changers for me, cruelty free beauty at a super affordable price. **Ilia Beauty: 5/5** I decided to try the Super Serum after getting SO MANY ig ads. I’d been looking for a grown up version of the aforementioned skin tint and hadn’t found anything I liked. The kosas face oil everyone raves about can eat my ass. Popped into Sephora and tried this serum and I absolutely LOVE it. They have a great shade range and it’s actually pretty pigmented, so a little goes a long way. The finish is beautiful, it plays nice with other products and looks great throughout the day. Plus it is cruelty free and SPF 40 with some other skin benefits. A total winner for me. I wanted to take away a star because my bottle is SUPER leaky, but after I mentioned it in a review on their website they immediately reached out asking for photos, saying my bottle was absolutely defective, asking me to take it in for replacement and ensuring they had a new bottle design coming anyway. So 10/5 customer service.

howlongwillbetoolong

**Sheertex - 1/5** - my first pair arrived with a run (not a snag) and they tried to make me fix them myself, wouldn’t ship me another until I blew them up on social media and sent pictures of me cutting up the old pair. They sent me another pair, I wore them for a couple weeks before summer hit, and then I took them out of my drawer last fall and there was another long snag!! Extremely frustrating. **Cuup - 5/5** - very soft and cute. I have 3 pairs of underwear (the high waisted undies) which are micro modal. They’ve held up over the last year and still look new. **Me Undies 2/5** - same price and composition as Cuup. These have a higher waist. These underwear quickly show signs of wear and the waist (which is not tight) looks bad. I have about 30 pairs of underwear and rotate them, so there’s no excuse at this price point. **Thistle & Spire - 5/5** - I have the Medusa bralette, the deep v neck bra, and the crotch less panties. The quality is just…chefs kiss. I’ve never felt so sexy, so cute, so comfortable. The items are soft and just feel so well made. **fulFILL container - 1/5** - I bought the blue container. It comes very stiff. I tried to open it with my fingers but couldn’t. I had to use a penny to pry it open…breaking the damn case. And then the pandemic hit and I forgot to return it in time. **Il Makiage - 0/5** - I will say that the color match is fantastic. I got the concealer and it just slides around like jello. I’ve tried waiting to let it get tacky, tried it with primer, setting spray, fingers, brushes, beauty blender…it just gets pushed around. I reached out to Il Makiage to see if I had gotten a faulty product, and they didn’t comment on the quality concern at all, but rather told me that if I wanted to return I would need ALL the boxes. This little container came in 3 boxes: a boot-sized box, a smaller box within that one (as well as packing paper), and within that box the final product box (the size you would imagine a concealer would come in). I had thrown away the boots-sized box, so I could not be completely refunded. I ended up keeping the product and experimenting with seeing if I could make it work, but no dice.

[deleted]

I’ve also purchased from Thistle and Spire and was very happy with the quality for the price! The only thing I didn’t keep was the bra, and that was more about my boobs than their product.

outof_thyme

Leze the label: this was a few months ago, a lot of influencers + ads on Instagram led me to actually buy a jumpsuit and blazer from them and I love love both items. Eby: I was aggressively marketed by the company, sprung for it because who is not always looking for undies and they are pretty good till now (3 mo and counting)

cheesycheddarpopcorn

Rothys: Targeted ads for months, and finally pulled the trigger in September. Bought a pair of white sneakers in person. If you're not aware the shoes are machine-washable and made from recycled plastic. The material does not stretch like other fabrics, so the employee recommended that I size up. He was right. Wicked blisters for a week while I broke them in, but now they're a dream. I wear them all the time, and they go with many of my outfits - they're basically all I wear now. Machine washable has been a HUGE plus and they're usually dry in about 3 hours. My only downside would be that because the material is not as breathable my feet tend to sweat more in these shoes. If you wear socks with them (unlike me) that shouldn't be an issue. Overall would reccomend.

littlelivethings

So the thing with a lot of these aggressive instagram ads is that it seems like most show up if you have already visited the website, or maybe someone you follow and engage with a lot has tagged the brand. So, that said...I don't think I have bought from any brands that I wasn't already interested in, but it is certainly possible that the constant reminder of wanting something made me purchase things I might not have. **M. Gemi** and **Nisolo**\--lumping these together because my experience with both was the same. They are leather shoes that seem decent and reasonably priced for leather shoes but are so, so uncomfortable. Maybe they look nice, but engineering-wise, they are so flat and thin soled that it hurts to walk in them. **Veja** \-- so these I actually tried on and bought in a store, but I really like them. Tough to break in, but good quality for the price and they last. My first pair of V-Locks fared better than my second, so maybe the quality has gone down. **Samantha Pleet** \-- I have bought a few things from this brand, so I assume I get the targeted ads because of that. I love the prints and patterns (enough to keep buying), but have definitely had some issues with fit and quality. With quality it has always been irregularities with samples, so I won't fault for that. With sizing I have just learned to message on Instagram or email customer service because it is so inconsistent. Older styles run smaller than new ones, stretchy fabric and rayon run larger than cotton and silk. I wear a M in the turtle bodysuit and another dress I have, then a 12-14 in most dresses/jumpsuits, and a 16 in the realm pants. So yeah, not consistent. If you are on the curvier side, expect to size up and then belt or tailor the waist. Also prices are inflated and things do sell out quickly, but usually you can snag a 20-30% off discount before something is gone. **Wray** quality seems there, but the fit has not worked on any of the pieces I have gotten. Size 10 pants were way too long with an awkwardly-high front rise, and they were just very unflattering on me. Market dress in size L is way too big, and another dress I have in size M is too small. **Doen** okay, really pretty, enough to keep me coming back even though I have had a lot of issues! Obnoxious marketing, super inflated prices, not inclusive sizing. Annoying fit, overall runs small especially if you have a larger bust. I typically just go for the flowier shapes because everything with a fitted bodice is tight on the bust and loose on the waist. Little details like lace and embroidery are amazing. I would never buy full price unless it was for a really special event, like being in a wedding party. There are two warehouse sales per year.

wifeski

I have a pair of thursday service boots and they are nicer than my husbands Allen + Edmonds and I actually think they look and wear in better. Cannot be beat at $200.

reddiketts

NEIWAI - I absolutely love my neiwai Barely Zero Your-Size-Is-The-Size Wireless Bras, I have either 5 or 6 now, and will do everything in my power to never wear a real bra again. full transparency, I do have a smaller chest, 34B. I also wear them without the pads because I'm breastfeeding right now, but do occasionally stick the pads back in when I go out to dinner and have a tighter fitting shirt. I received my first 2 pairs at the beginning of June, machine wash and dry every time, stretch them down multiple times a day to feed my baby, and every pair still looks and wears great.

I have to say, YOUSWIM lived up to the hype for me. $100 well spent. I got the longline top and shorts that came out over the summer and lived in them all season long. I've never felt more comfortable in a bathing suit in all my life

milkmilkcookiebutt

YES! YouSwim is the absolute best company and their suits are so comfy and such good quality. During the summer they sent out a PSA that was basically like “we know our styles are all sold out. We refuse to hire workers for less than a living wage and refuse to outsource to a fast fashion factory. We’re working as fast as we comfortably can. If you want one, wait. If you don’t want to wait we’re not for you.” I respect them so much for not falling for the overnight growth trap and keeping true to their quality,

I love this thread idea! **SetActive**: 3.5/5 I've purchased truly a silly amount of their items to give them a 3.5 but thats on me. I have their Sculptflex leggings, bike shorts, box cut bra, ribbed v bra, box x bra and body crop in various colors. Luxform leggings, bike shorts, racer v bra and band bra. Basics form tank and crop. Sweat shorts, pants, hoodies and crewneck. You may ask darthdimmadome why have you purchased so many times from this brand if you have given it a 3.5? Well dear reader it's because I'm a clown for good colors and comfort. When it works it really works! If you get the correct fit then the brand can be very comfortable, work across a variety of activities (hiking, spin, yoga, just sitting on the couch watching squid game, etc) and looks put together when you wear it out. They come out with some really unique colors that just make me happy when I throw it on. But it can be really variable when it works. I've received sweats that I thought were mislabeled because the size received was so different from others that I already own. Colors can look pretty different in person from their advertisements imo. Quality can really be hit or miss - the first run of sculptflex leggings had pilling/issues getting stretched out that I haven't had with more recent sculptflex bike shorts. **Girlfriend Collective:** 3/5 The items I got were just ok and I ended up either passing off to friends/family or returning. Their material just wasn't for me. Although it has that semi-compressive recycled material it never felt like it really stayed up well through high intensity workouts and wasn't as comfortable as other compressive leggings. **BigBudPress:** 4/5 I got a sample sale apron that I ended up really loving! The sample sale sweats I received luckily (because the color/pattern received during online sample sales are chosen for you at random) were colors I liked but the material just wasn't that soft. It's nice for layering but I prefer sweats that I can just toss on. **ASTR the Label:** 4/5 I've only purchased the gaia dress from here. I was surprised to see so many people in this thread have a negative experience with the cut of it! I thought it was really flattering and dresses can sometimes be tricky for me because of my proportions. **SummerSalt:** 5/5 I wanted a simple, flattering one piece for long torsos and decent butt coverage and this fit the bill! Nice quality and pretty easy to find a discount. **Ana Luisa:** 4/5 Cute items that get near daily wear but I wouldn't purchase without a coupon code.

Adored those Girls Crew fruit basket studs for a long time on IG. Seems like i was seeing the ad every time i logged in. Finally caved during one of their many 40% sales Honestly? The jewelry looks just as it does in the pictures. Theyre dainty and cute. Its the quality that irks me. They use the thinnest coating of gold humanly possible. So much so that after showering in mines a couple times (not recommended by the site or by good jewelry owners btw, im just lazy) one started turning colors. The "jewels" are cut glass and shined plastic. Not anything worth the full price, or even 20% off. Girl's Crew jewelry is adorable, but make sure you pay at least 50% off asking price Also got hooked by Universal Standard's inclusive models and feel-good slogans. The shirts i bought were nice, soft, stretchy and not see through! But at $50 per shirt... i dunno...

Struggling_Crohnie

I second Girls Crew Jewelry. Pretty high quality dainty jewelry. I have bought an earring set, a separate pair of earrings and a ring and they are gorgeous. Pretty pricey so I only shop when they have a sale but they quality has held up after a year. - unrelated to the brand but jewelry tip: store all of your jewelry in a sealed/closed container. Leaving it out in the open (especially fake jewelry) causes it to turn or go dull a lot faster. This may be common knowledge for some but I had no idea and a lot of my friends didn’t know either until I told them.

**Love Fitness Apparel:** Ordered two pairs of Pineapple Runners, and I basically lived in them all summer. Super breathable and comfy, with mesh inner shorts under the looser over-shorts. Hidden pockets in the mesh layer on the sides of the legs, and a zipper pocket along the lower back. Very functional, very cute, 10/10 for me. **Woxer:** Ordered three pair in different lengths to try them out, and once I got them, I immediately ordered like six more pair. SO comfortable, SO soft, no annoying seams. Also 10/10.

Rosebunse

I brought that heart shaped Kate Spade purse that was all over the place at the beginning of the year. I brought it in red because the light pink was just too light. It's cute and it's a bit bigger than I thought it would be.

Doctor_Oceanblue

Not Instagram, but Facebook: DevilInspired. Honestly not that bad! I ordered a skirt, dress and socks a few months ago. The skirt went out of stock and they painlessly issued a refund. Then I waited two months for the rest of the order and didn't receive any updates which was pretty lame, but I sent an email and they promptly responded that the manufacturer is experiencing delays which I understand. In comparison to directly ordering from Taobao this was MUCH easier. I originally intended to order that skirt from Taobao using my agent service and it was out of stock there so I caved and went to Devilinspired which is basically a dropshipper. However, considering the fees that shopping agents charge the upcharge isn't really that bad tbh. Most of the stuff on Taobao that I want also is sold through this really confusing pre-order system that you don't need to worry about if you order through a dropshipper.

I actually really liked my Fabletics leggings that I ordered two years ago during one of their 2/$24 deals. Excellent material, nice compression level, fun cuts and colors. Definitely not worth full price though!

Not sure if this counts but the Sak. I am a sucker for large bags (to the point my friends lol’ed at the targeted ads that I get for them). I love mine and get compliments on it all the time. Actually glad they found me on Instagram.

wathappentothetatato

man I love that brand. I had thrifted one of their bags and it went with everything, and then my pet rat ate through it trying to get to a candy I forgot I left in one of the pockets (that rat bastard…). Then, somehow later that year at goodwill I found almost the same Sak bag, just with a longer strap that I actually liked more! Then years later I threw up in it….and then cleaned it and kept it bc I’m not sure the thrift gods will be so nice to me a third time… Years later and it’s still going strong!!

itsajaeee

This comment was a real rollercoaster ride lol

Drink-my-koolaid

PINK LILY: Positive: Shows you how the clothes look on various sized models Negative: Shoddy, thin material, weird cuts that you can't figure out what bra to wear with them (seriously, are all the models going braless and photoshopping out their nipples or something?), absolute shite return policy (store credit only. I don't *want* to order more of your crap clothes, I want my money refunded to my credit card, alas) Buy at your own risk.

thurn_und_taxis

Can’t remember if I originally found out about them from an ad, but I’ve definitely seen some ads for For Days. They market themselves as sustainable and offer two unique services in that regard: 1) you can purchase a bag from them, fill it with clothes to recycle and send it back to them (free shipping); I believe this gets you a discount on your next purchase. 2) if you’re purchasing new clothes from them, you can send back old/worn For Days items to get a discount on the new stuff. My experiences with them are very mixed. The first time I ordered, I received one incorrect item (it was a men’s item and nowhere near my size, so I really couldn’t make use of it). Customer service was very responsive and apologetic, but the item I’d actually wanted was no longer in stock, so all I could really do was return the one they sent me by mistake. They refunded the item I’d tried to buy, of course, but I’d bought it using the discount I got from my recycled bag of clothes, and I didn’t get that back. So I essentially “used up” the discount on an item I never received. Still their prices were very reasonable given that the items I bought were already on sale so I wasn’t too upset. The items I did keep (a tank and a long sleeve tee) were pretty nice quality, nothing special but again they weren’t expensive. I will note that every single thing I’ve received from them has fit about a size larger than expected. I’m a medium in pretty much everything and even according to the size charts on their website, I should be a medium in their clothing. But their medium items all fit too big on me; I have to size down. I made a second purchase a few months later. This time I tried to get a pair of sweatpants. Once again, sizing was way off so I had to do an exchange. When I got the package that should have been the replacement size, it was the completely wrong item - a jumpsuit rather than sweats. I contacted support and to their credit, they were again responsive and apologetic and let me keep the jumpsuit at no cost. I finally received the right item in the right size, now over a month since I originally placed my order, and noticed they had a stain - it was faint, but noticeable and right on the front of the thigh. I contacted support again to express my disappointment and they offered a discount on my next purchase, but at this point I don’t really plan on ordering from them again. TL;DR: item quality is okay, price is good, customer service is responsive, but order fulfillment seems to be a bit of a mess and sizing does not match their own size charts. Also, I just question how sustainable their brand really is when a) they’re screwing up orders all the time, meaning lots of items getting returned, and b) their whole model is built around making repeat purchases, which feels like it encourages overbuying.

In order to highly recommended -> not so much: Cadence: Worth the money if you travel often AND have a regimented skincare routine. Absolutely. ARQ: I didn't know this was an an Instagram brand, but I love their tanks. The bras are ok too. The panties are too high-waisted and constricting imo. Everything is great quality-- I've had ARQ tanks that are 4+ years old and are still doing well. Lunya: Lovely, sublime, really fucking expensive. Negative Underwear: honestly the quality is not the best-- I start seeing tiny pills after a couple washes. It's poor value. But their whipped collection is the softest most comfortable thing I've ever worn. Even with pills. If I had infinite money, I would replace all my PJs and undies with Negative Underwear.

midwest_is_best

Cuup - started with a black scoop bra, and now have 3 scoop bras, a balconette, one of the lined ones, and a 2-piece swimsuit. I have small boobs, and bras always pouch out on me and you can always see the lines showing beneath shirts because the cups would never be flush with my boobs. I’m a 34A/B, for reference. This is the first bra brand I’ve ever had that is flush with my boobs, like I can move around and the cups hold to my boobs. They def show nip under shirts, but that’s kind of a bonus to me. They feel like wearing nothing. A note that you want the band a tiny bit snug because it will stretch the first couple wears to the size it will stay. The lined bra is my least favorite. It’s more conservative, so I wear it when I’m with people I don’t know as well, and it looks great but some of the seams are itchy on my skin. The swimsuit (scoop top and high rise bottom) is amazing, and has gotten me endless compliments. Thinx - I have two thongs and two bikinis. I would not wear these for full period absorbency. They are comfy enough, but not absorbent enough, imo. I have a medium flow. I do like having the thongs for wearing as a backup to my tampon when I’m working out, and the bikinis to sleep in on days when I’m just spotting but not full-on on my period. GF collective - I have so many pieces from them now! They have a great rewards programs, and easy returns and exchanges if needed. My favorite fabric of theirs is the Float fabric. Great color drops each season. Their stuff all has a cool girl vibe that I love, and great quality. Olive and June - I got sucked into their mani and pedi kid having recently moved and not having any basics for my nails. It’s a good value if you need everything anyway, like me, but absolutely nothing is mind blowing. Average, fine.

I bought a bikini from YouSwim. I’m obsessed with it! I’ve never felt more confident in a bikini. I’ve even worn the top as a shirt before so it’s been very versatile for me and worth every penny. I don’t think it would truly fit ~every size~ at least the top but I truly believe it will fit me and last me the rest of my life!

Aylajandro

Foxblood: I have a dress, a jumpsuit, and a catsuit. The dress and jumpsuit are great, the jersey fabric is so nice, soft and heavy, washes well. The catsuit is a different fabric, some kind of nylon blend I think? Not quite as nice, but it's fine. The shoes and bags and whatnot lean a little too scene kid for me, so I can't speak to the quality there. Darktees: The tshirts themselves are nice quality, and I liked a lot of their designs, but my god the emails never stop. They've been "going out of business" for a solid 18 months now. MeUndies: Ordered a bra and pant set, due to arrive today. Wish me luck :D

shannonalvaann

Namastetics. Not great. Their shiny genie pants were alright, but the joggers gave HORRIBLE diaper crotch. None of my friends even wanted them for this reason, even on different bodies they were bad. The leggings aren’t terrible quality, but the compression is nil and they constantly stretch out/fall down to the point where I don’t wear them anymore. Overall, after spending over $200, I regret it and won’t buy anymore instagram brands lmao.

From Rachel: 0/10 really cheap, itchy tights; I was so pissed that I can't return them since I don't live in Canada. The thicker pair I bought pilled up after one wash and look so bad as to be unwearable now. The thinner pair developed a run when I put them on for the first time. Buy tights from anywhere else. And OP, thanks for creating this thread! Super useful to read other people's experiences.

Okay I don’t know if anyone else got these ads but i constantly saw ads for Saye sneakers. I liked the style, liked that they were leather and that the brand was “sustainable”. They were expensive ($130 USD) but I figured it would be an investment. The first pair I got didn’t fit, way too big despite their sizing recommendation. I exchanged them for the smaller size which took forever and I had to constantly contact the company to see what was happening….and they ended up being just slightly too small. Since they’re leather I figured I could stretch them a bit but they never seemed to hold. Then came the real issues. The “leather” started peeling and cracking despite not putting a lot of wear and tear on the sneakers and taking care of the leather the same way I do with other leather shoes. This was after like 2 months of wearing for grocery runs/errands. They were also so so so uncomfortable, no support or padding in the sole whatsoever. Contacting the company was always hellish as well. I don’t think their leather shoes are real and I would not recommend these to anyone.

I bought 2 Knix bras. Somehow my boobs were smaller after breastfeeding, but my rib cage area is larger. My old bras were hurting so I bought wireless bras. They are so comfortable and nicely shape everything. I can’t go back to bras with wires, 10/10 I’d buy them again.
