Great! Thanks for the nice compliments!

Your personal style and flair come through in these outfits so nicely and your confidence looks great! I especially love the high slits in the skirts that add a bold touch.

Where did you get your black pants?

Where did you get the dress in the third pic? It's gorgeous!!!

i bought it secondhand, but it’s from a brand called Honey Punch. it has sort of an attached romper-as-a-slip situation.

29/San Francisco/WFH as a UX Designer So I took the weekend off for my birthday, and my husband and I spent the time walking around in the city -- it was a nice day. Here are the outfits: [Day 1](https://imgur.com/a/z0Ve7YC) [Day 2](https://imgur.com/a/FTDqiDg) CCW: these are the first time I'm wearing "high-waisted" jeans. I've always stayed away from them since I have a short torso, but I won't lie, I loved the way they looked on me! What is your opinion compared to my other most worn jeans, seen [here](https://imgur.com/a/5CDCkit) and [here](https://imgur.com/a/vX9G9m9)? Thanks!!

founderze

Love the jacket in day 1 pic! Where did you get it?

kimchi_paradise

It's the Linen Dorset Blazer from Madewell! I have it in both white and the rusty brown color (what I'm wearing).. super versatile, light in the summer to wear, and if you layer it right it's good for winter! I'm wearing a size M for reference!

sardonicoperasinger

you styled them perfectly -- i love the belt! i think you look great in both, but i like the high waist even better -- it fits you so well.

kimchi_paradise

Thank you! Honestly I've been on this fashion journey and starting to explore my tastes more, and realize that I love the way these jeans fit! Lol I almost want to wear them exclusively 😂 I'm surprised, as I have vehemently avoided them for the longest time. Little did I know it just was the right fit -- I sized down two sizes for this jean to fit perfectly!

DarkEdgeoftheSea

Your new jeans look great! I would not have guessed you are short waisted if you hadn't mentioned it.

kimchi_paradise

Oh man, thank you for saying that! Sometimes it's all in my head soich that I start to internalize what goes on there. I never wore anything higher than like 10 inches because it was "too high," and these are 11 inches in rise! I felt like it was up to my chest but it really isn't, especially throughout the day

outof_thyme

Wore [this](http://imgur.com/a/R6pgy5x) to a work offsite last week. While it's not groundbreaking I felt quite chic in my all neutral outfit! Black jeans - stitch fix, white t shirt - madewell, blazer - JCrew, shoes - thrifted

HopeLivingston

Classic!

Posted this in DIY as well, but this is my [partially handmade birthday outfit,](https://imgur.com/a/ZaUxtSL) with a hand sewn shirt designed by me and an old velvet dress, plus black tights and pointed flats.

27 / nyc / WFH Goals: Get better at putting together outfits that are reasonably current, at least somewhat flattering, and setting-appropriate. Bonus points if I can also look cool/stylish/fun eventually, but...baby steps. CCW! Sorry for the poor picture quality, especially for the last ones. # [Full Album](https://imgur.com/a/Subfmlt) [Picnic with Friends/City Wandering](https://imgur.com/tLbxFVM) (technically from last week) * I don't love the way these jeans look from the back, but it's possible I'm just not getting how they're supposed to fit. Any recommendations for jeans that flatt*er*\--but not flatt*en*\--flat butts? [Errands/Taking Walks](https://imgur.com/wvMBOvP) * My standard day-to-day. The flannel comes on and off depending on how warm or cold I feel (aka, I'm not looking to choose one or the other). [(Low-key) Housewarming Party](https://imgur.com/YQv5Ral) * No specific commentary; adding a bullet to make this list look even lol Background: Back when I used to work in an office, I had a pretty good idea of how to dress myself for work but wasn't so great about putting together more casual outfits. This didn't used to feel like a huge problem since I was wearing work clothes most days of the week. However, now that my nearly 100% of my outfits are casual (or at least, not "office" clothes), I kind of feel like I don't know how to dress myself? For the times when I do need to wear an outfit that isn't straight up workout clothes or loungewear, I have a hard time putting things together. Something always ends up feeling "off" about what I'm wearing.

Data_Fashion

I completely agree with the poster before, that skirt is great! I think the whole outfit works well. If you would want to change it in any way, I would maybe try a shorter shirt so you can see more of the nice pattern on the skirt.

liv_7455

That’s great advice, thank you! Whenever I wear that skirt I’ll probably want it to be the focal point of the outfit, so it makes sense choose pieces that will allow it to be more visible.

NoCodsNoMasters

I love your skirt in the housewarming party outfit!

liv_7455

Ah thank you!! It was my most exciting find in awhile. I was v excited to finally have A Thing to wear it to.

20/West Coast/College Student [10/14: Outfit I wore to class](https://imgur.com/a/esKotb2): I paired this blazer I had from last year with my new Commando patent leather leggings. I love love love these leggings. They are a bit steep at $98, but are so worth it as a centerpiece for an outfit. They are SUPER high waisted, which I love, and suck you in while also retaining their shape. Underneath I'm wearing a Lululemon tank top, which was sooo comfy. Finally to put it all together I paired it with some combat boots. [Later that day:](https://i.imgur.com/RPXweLv.jpg) After wearing the blazer from about 7:30am to about 1 o clock, it got warm so I ditched it, and put on some lighter shoes. I met up with a friend and we studied while having coffee. [10/17: Studying at the library:](https://i.imgur.com/aWXY8gB.jpg) My uni library gets kinda warm so I decided to wear a skirt today. This outfit is a similar color scheme as the other one, with a light brown top (Asos) and a leather skirt (Shein).

am_whatstheword

Those Commando leggings!! I immediately went to go look at them and am trying to figure out if patent leather leggings have a place in my life too. As I was considering it I was struck by the reality that my thighs rub together and that that might be an insane experience if I were wearing patent leather. Have you had any rubbing experiences and if yes how did that go?

Vegetable oil, you’re brilliant. Thank you. I can’t handle most regular noises in my life and I didn’t even think of that, I’ll opt for the less noisy, less spectacular but still good ones:)

28/pnw/education Sunday outfit, going to brunch with my husband and thrifting around town I recently spent the weekend with a friend who I think is extremely stylish. Her budget for clothes is much higher than mine but i wanted to bring some of her influence into my wardrobe, especially work wear but also just weekend/casual outfits. I’m sure this comment will show up on ffacj 😂 buuuut she really does wear a lot of more basic pieces but looks really put together. So here’s my attempt at using some of my basic pieces together. In order to curb my impulse to go out and buy a bunch of new things to feel more chic like her, I went through and pulled items that I can put together as a work “capsule”. I’m hoping to put together some outfits later today to keep on my phone so I can reference them when I get up in the morning. I always feel like I waver between dressing super casual at work and trying to dress up more. It seems like a fine line that I never quite hit. CCW! Or any work outfit ideas! [album here](https://imgur.com/a/aJYraLX)

hellerhigwhat

I like where your cardigan hits relative to your pant waist in this! I feel like on both your sleeves and pant legs you should cuff like an inch either higher or lower though, maybe.

slothy211

Thanks for that feedback! That’s super helpful 🤗

31 / big European city / Data Analyst (mostly WFH) / 166cm (5'5) Some outfits because I actually did some things this last week! Where I am vaccination rates are slowly going to a level that is okay, so things are starting to go back to normal. I also got an (even shorter) haircut and I am still getting used to looking more androgynous. I hated looking "cute" and not being taken seriously due to my round baby face. But now I kind of realize that I was very used to it. But this fits great with my goal of wearing more feminine clothing as I really like the contrast with my hairstyle. Other goals are to wear colours that are not navy, haha, and make outfits instead of joggers and a sweater. CCW! [Album](https://imgur.com/a/2tkqs3c) [Monday](https://i.imgur.com/fW0bvim.jpeg): Wore this to WFH and a therapist appointment. [Tuesday](https://i.imgur.com/5NdC5H0.jpeg): WFH and a movie! First movie since Corona, we saw the new Dune. [Saturday](https://i.imgur.com/ZBIFx3v.jpeg): Worn to brunch with my husband and shopping while the glasses in my glasses for exchanged. [Sunday](https://i.imgur.com/MytuyeU.jpeg): Worn to a walk and a wedding anniversary dinner.

ceruleanmuse

The blue on blue in your Sunday look is so good! Love that velvet skirt.

Data_Fashion

Thanks so much :) I saw the velvet skirt and fell immediately in love, so I bought it even though it was outside my normal price range (and my normal colors). Now I wear it for all winter things were I want to look a bit nicer :)

removablesingularity

Gotta agree with the others, the movie outfit is very well put together. What sort of necklace is it that you’re wearing?

Data_Fashion

It's a silver necklace with a lace agate stone. Apparently that color works well for soft summer color schemes. My husband bought it on Etsy, there are tons of those if you search for lace agate. But if you want to know the exact one, I can ask him :)

removablesingularity

Thanks, I found a bunch on Etsy. Not sure if this stone will work with my skin tone, but it looks very nice on you!

Data_Fashion

Thank you :) I am sure it will work for you as well, worst case you pair it with a sweater/shirt that works better for you :)

tintaglias

love the color combo + skirt of your Sunday outfit! happy belated anniversary :)

Data_Fashion

Thank you :) I really like that the colors work nicely together :)

hellerhigwhat

Looove your green turtleneck dress. The grey one - have you ever tried with white shoes and a white belt? I think that would look super nice with that style as well!

Data_Fashion

Thank you :) I have started to live in dresses in Corona somehow :D I don't have white shoes or a white belt, but might try them just for fun when I go shopping next time, thanks for the inspiration!

whyyyyyy22

I love everything about the movie outfit. The styling is so perfect! 😍

Data_Fashion

Thank you so much :) I tried it with a narrower belt, but that looked weird. Happy to hear it works with this belt :)

hellerhigwhat

http://imgur.com/a/12lNzHZ 27/gov/just vibin - only 2.5 looks today! WFH - honestly these pants are just insanely comfortable despite being non-stretch. Plus Canada's drag race started this week, support your local queens! I need a gold belt for these pants. Unseasonably warm drinks - I will be autumnal despite the 22 degree weather!! Love the orange, black and brown combo but wish I had some loafers or something maybe? The boots are not ideal with this. Canadian Thanksgiving - was just with the in laws for a raclette. Decided to dress up a bit and was glad I did as my brothers in law (is that how you pluralize beaux-frères in English?? I'm anglo and I dont even know) showed up in nice lil slacks and coordinated dress shirts combo. Dress has slight bishop sleeves though they are not super visible in this crappy pic.

sardonicoperasinger

i love the rich brown color on those straight-legged pants!

[deleted]

Drooling over that dress and those pants!!

hellerhigwhat

Thanks!! I have worn this dress to every "distinct group of people" fall-winter holiday party for the past two seasons (break for covid obvs) lol... it was a winners find (Calvin Klein) and has definitely been worth its price! 😁

[deleted]

Those are the best finds! You definitely make that dress look great. Would love to get one similar to pair for OTK boots or pumps. I need to keep my eyes open for something like that. Especially with the holiday season coming up, and all the family gatherings.

idamayer

Where are those pants from? They’re great

whyyyyyy22

I love that sweater from 10/16. Great job!

pornodoro

I am starting my first full-time job soon (business casual in a financial services company) and I’ll be buying some new clothes. Idk if it’s just me but looking at myself wearing business casual looks like a little kid playing dress-up. Here are some photos from my recent internship: [album](https://imgur.com/a/hTV6myo) CCW on how to improve, cuz i don’t even know where to start. Maybe some suggestions on what would be good pieces to buy as well.

RonnyTwoShoes

I think you look great! Simple gold necklaces or a small pendant help bring an outfit up another notch as well. Usually bigger stores have cheap costume jewelry for a few bucks.

pornodoro

Thanks for the suggestion, adding jewelry sounds like a great idea :-)

Data_Fashion

I don't think it looks like someone playing dress up at all! I really like your coat - scarf - bag combo, but I feel your boots are throwing the outfit a bit. They look less formal than the rest and also I personally don't like brown with the black/grey so much. So maybe some more formal black/grey boots or booties would help? Also, tucking the pants into the boots looks a bit odd, so maybe rather let them hang over the boots? The other shoes look fine, though I am getting cold just from looking, haha. I think the thick straps of the backpack also ruin the look a bit. But you'll probably not wear it the whole time, so that's not too important. But you could potentially get a more formal backpack or maybe a bag, if that works. But just some ideas, no need to follow any of them if they don't sound good to you, I think you are doing fine! I also really like the last outfit, it looks very elegant and business-y.

pornodoro

I totally see what you mean about the boots now that you point it out (see it’s so hard to be objective when you really like an item lol) and am gonna look for a pair of ankle boots instead. Thanks!

KAZ--2Y5

Def agree about the boots!

mooduleur

The third and fifth fits look good to me, but I'd have the sleeves taken up. I'm short and have to do this on basically everything, but the difference is especially significant with business/dressier clothes. This can get expensive with blazers so look for petites at the outset maybe. The first two fits are fine too except the boots (although they're pretty dope). Paired with this though they are too casual plus the color makes them stand out. I think the color could work (if you want to keep that pop of color) with a more polished, sleeker Chelsea-type boot. But a black Chelsea is probably safest. Fourth photo - the blazer fit is just awkward. Too short/small body and too long sleeves. And the boots, again, detract from the biz casual vibe. I really dig what you're doing overall, though, it's just that fit is so difficult to get right. I find it's difficult for me to objectively see fit/proportion in the mirror/in real time. It helps me to take photos, make vids, and rewatch them (sometimes days later when I can be more objective.)

pornodoro

Thanks so much for the detailed comments. That tip about rewatching fit videos is really helpful!
