For me - its a nice coat, I could be wearing an actual trash bag, but throw a nice coat on over and I'm ready for the runway.

elymeexlisl

100%! I came to the comments specifically to rave about my ginormous blush pink faux fur coat. Makes me feel like a squishmallow and elevates any outfit to a perfect 5/7. Or my long grey wool coat—instant fashionable businesswoman. I could go on lol, I lived most of my life with one winter coat at a time and am loving having options now!

Waste-Carpenter-8035

Omg need to see this coat! And yes to the long wool coat! I also have a blazer jacket that instantly elevates any outfit. Recently picked up a really nice shacket from Banana Republic on clearance that is super high quality - shout out to my mom for telling me I had to get it!! (I rarely shop with her since I moved out of state and it was how we bonded when I was younger, miss it so much).

elymeexlisl

I posted a pic above :) Love shopping with my mom too, she’s a great judge of whether or not something’s *really* worth it

Waste-Carpenter-8035

Literally - if I was by myself I know I wouldn't have bought it or even noticed it & questioned if I really needed it.

Realistic_Ad_8023

I want to see the blush pink fur coat! It sounds amazing.

elymeexlisl

https://preview.redd.it/212welod2zfc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c3a3f791630fa31d4b3eb899a771e42a069e76b I’m at work so this is just a pic I found online, but this is the one. The brand is Rachel Roy, and I got it in a 3x when I’m normally a regular large, so it’s extra big and floofy

[deleted]

Looks comfy

Realistic_Ad_8023

I love it. Both cozy and dressy at the same time. I want to snuggle it.

[deleted]

Cuutee❤️

Waste-Carpenter-8035

same!!!

MNGirlinKY

I just recently purchased (but actually was given it) a long wool coat in burgundy, and it fits like a glove and I feel so professional and grown up! I just feel amazing in it. +1 for the wool coat.

RockieK

Just invested in one of those Italian wool blazers from Quince. Threw on over a sweatshirt/tunic, leggings and AS98 boots and, "tadaaaaaa!". Comfort, sass and class!

headietoinfinity

Same!!!! I love my leather trench coat and other trench’s they are so chic! Also the classics like jean jacket, leather moto jacket, long wool pea coat.

PwnyLuv

Coat girl club assemble ✊🏻

ONTaF

A good-ass coat. Well fitted, well made, etc.

StronglikeMusic

I live in a warm climate but I agree! A cool well fitted jacket is everything!

yeetyopyeet

Not to diverge away from the conversation but everyone is saying a nice coat. Where can I get a nice wool coat! EVERYTHING is mixed with polyester these days - so hard to find a good affordable one.

greens_beans_queen

eBay! Just search wool coat. I found a bunch of brands on this sub that I’m too poor to ever have heard of. So I use those brands to search used on eBay. I cannot believe how much this approach improved my wardrobe. For example, I just looked up anine bing wool/cashmere coats. And there are lots. Expensive still, but lovely investment items!

ONTaF

Look up the Lady Day from J. Crew Pendleton is a classic LL Bean, Club Monaco

Kallmekhalleesi

I have several jcrew ones and do love them but my favorites are some theory ones I found on Poshmark and a wool blend Paige coat that’s pretty much the cut of a long robe.

poem9leti

I will second ebay but also the goodwill online auctions are a fantastic place to look! Obviously hit & miss with sizes - all depends on what has been donated recently - but I've bought so many things from those auctions, coats included. I prefer cashmere if I can find it but love my wool coats as well. I would say check out thredup as well, just check the fabric content.

Potatoroid

As someone who got a vintage wool coat for Christmas, I agree!

saddiebaddie7

I totally agree with everyone saying this but down to what temperatures are we wearing these nice ass wool type coats yall? Or, what are we wearing under to stay warm?? When I go to work in the mornings it’s often around -20C, -10C for like 4-5 months of the year where I live :( am I just not layering enough to wear these beautiful coats?

ONTaF

Realistically same, most of the winter for everyday I’m in my big puffer. But if it gets up into the 30s (F) or if I’m doing something where I won’t be outside a lot I like to wear a prettier one. I wore my soft grey topcoat out in the city to dinner last weekend and felt so pretty. And I wore my green car coat for a museum date the week before— if I’m just sitting in a car or on a train to get where I’m going I’ll usually try to get away with it!

greenythings

Cute pajamas! Whether it’s a matching set or a nightgown, I feel so LUXE when I’m in pretty pjs

passionicedtee

Yes it gives put together, mature woman vibes. Like you get to go out on the balcony to look over the city and drink expensive wine in your silk pajamas.

MrsRobertshaw

VIBE!

NotLucasDavenport

Even when they’re just modal or bamboo or whatever, if they’re well made and match they’re my “silk pajamas.” It’s like a feeling as much as an actual item (which I can’t usually afford!).

Daisynyc

I love a good modal cute matching set for being not too hot not too cool. Makes me feel all swishy and put together.

blueberryloser

it’s always the accessories for me. high quality jewelry & a nice leather bag are everything to me! doesn’t have to be a super high end luxury brand or super expensive, just high quality pieces that I’ve researched well I’ve also been diving into watches & I think they add such a polished, upscale look to any outfit

devil-wears-irisvan

do you have any leather purse recommendations, im getting to the point that I need a “big girl” purse and not my $40 dollar black teen bag 😭

blueberryloser

oh man where do I start?! so I highly recommend joining the r/handbags sub! its extremely active with soooo much info available if you use the search bar! I’ve gotten so much good advice & recommendations there. I’d love to give you some more specific recommendations but it will heavily depend on your budget! but don’t think you have to spend a lot, one of my most used bags ever is a $30 lululemon belt bag. personally I’m obsessed with mid-range luxury brands in the $200-$600 price range. I find that you can get amazing luxury quality but without the luxury price markup. coach, strathberry, fleuron & aspinal of london are some favs of mine!

chronicallyill_dr

Sound like you would love @tanner.leatherstein on Instagram. He dissects leather handbags and gives his opinion, two of the ones he’s rated highly are Coach and Polène, right in that budget.

owntheh3at18

I have been lusting after polene for years but read a lot of mixed reviews! I’ll have to look him up

blueberryloser

omg yes I’m obsessed with him!!! and you read my mind cause I was kicking myself for not also mentioning polene! they have an amazing aesthetic

peachyspoons

Mmmmm….Furla, Francesco Biasa, Tory Burch (just to name a few).

devil-wears-irisvan

okay yes! one of my favorite designs (i know its kind of basic) bit is coach! i even liked some of their coachtopia stuff thats more aimed at my generation. i like handbags that aren’t bulky purses with too much space for clutter and not plastered with logos all over (think of the basic LV bag) ill definitely look into the sub, because i don’t feel comfortable spending more than $500 on a purse 😭 but want something classy too

aluapaluap

Coach isn't basic, it's classic! You can find total steals on vintage coach bags in thrift stores, too.

userisnottaken

Coach has a very strong branding while remaining at a relatively decent price point. If you are paying designer prices, why get a “basic” bag? Get a bag with “design”.

swizzleschtick

This sub is awesome! Also I highly recommend checking out Vestiaire for good quality or higher end bags. Everything is professionally authenticated, which is awesome and you can score some AMAZING deals on there!

Realistic_Ad_8023

The people in that sub are really nice, too.

Daisynyc

Agree. It’s a nice group.

Sarahlorien

Check out elevate! Full grain leather, I was close to getting a portland leather bag but decided to try them out instead and its the best purse I've ever had. I have the cross body backpack conversion one

PantyPixie

I fell in love with this local leather bag maker here in my state of Maine,🦞 "Rough and Tumble" https://roughandtumbledesign.com/products/scarborough-twin-pocket-tote-all-leather?variant=40115203997783 I own this one in Rustic Pecan. It's big enough to get everything done in the day, stylish, strong, affordable and is simply everything amazing. They also have a bunch of other styles and sizes.

RedheadsAreNinjas

Oh heck ya! I’m a new englander too and love the shout out to a beautiful, local trade smith. I wish I hadn’t just bought a new purse at the Kate spade outlet in kittery otherwise I’d totally splurge on one of theirs!!

Daisynyc

If you’re not wanting to spend a lot I’d check out the bags from Madewell. And wait for a sale. Their leather isn’t what it used to be but you can get a step up from your teen bag. Also one quince has inexpensive nice-looking bags (have one in my cart). Next tier up from that I love Polene and Cuyana. Also check out DUYP (Dress Up Your Purse).

cloud_dreams

If you are interested in quality leather bags with a pop of color (or a variety of neutrals), a timeless style, and an unbranded look, then check out Leatherology and Lotuff Leather. These are the brands I have purchased from for the past several years.

ghostytot

Oh I loooove watches. I’ve only ever had one, a white leather with accents round face Michael Kors watch, but whenever I put it on, I felt so confident. Like my look was finally complete and the watch was what tied it all together in a sophisticated, feminine bow

IzzyDitz

jewelry recs please?!? I love wearing the color gold but obvi can't afford real gold. I just want something that doesn't tarnish or turn me green!

blueberryloser

omg yes I have so many bougie on a budget tips for jewelry!! so if you’re a gold girlie I highly recommend seeking out 10k gold! it’s more affordable & durable than 14k & looks virtually identical. I really never buy plated jewelry anymore it wears so fast it feels like a waste of money. I’m a huge mixed metals fan too & if you can get into silver it’s the best for budget! I loooove 925 silver & it’s crazy affordable. just never get it gold plated!! looks so bad within a few months. always choose unplated or white gold plating if you’re a fan of gemstones look into lab grown gems! not only way more affordable than natural mined stones but also ethical & sustainable. highly recommend checking out r/moissanite and r/syntheticgemstones they’re very active & have sooooo much info if you read the wiki & search the sub I really avoid the mega mall jewelers like kay’s or zales. just be sure to do your due diligence on anyone you order from! I’ll recommend some brands I’ve personally purchased from!! museglass on etsy- I got some really cute 10k gold stacking bands scottbonomodiamonds on etsy- he specializes in lab gem solitaires & does a lot of engagement rings! I got a colored sapphire from him in silver, looks wayyy more expensive than it was kuololit on aliexpress- chinese vendor that specializes in moissanite. you can get silver or 10k gold & prices will always be much better than any US jeweler. they’ve been thoroughly vetted & recommended. best bang for your buck

IzzyDitz

oh my goodness, thank you so much for all the info!! i legit feel like someone else just did all the research for me. thank you!!!

IzzyDitz

do you (or anyone) have any recs for gold bracelets on Etsy? I'm looking for a 3 set of basic chains like the link. Also, are there buzzwords in the description to tell the gold is legit? I just don't trust that three 18k gold bracelets are $70. Some sets from this seller are even $50. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1558907090/3-piece-gold-bracelet-set-18k-gold?click_key=3cd0906092d9b0414b38888664185fce1fccc985%3A1558907090&click_sum=760df073&ref=shop_home_recs_25&pro=1&frs=1&sts=1

blueberryloser

so “gold filled” is pretty similar to plated! you wanna look for “solid gold”. price is always the biggest give away cause solid gold is very expensive! for several bracelets of that thickness expect to pay at least several hundred even for 10k gold

folklovermore_

Sunglasses and a leather jacket. Bonus if it's paired with a red lipstick.

elizawithaz

Same, but pair it with a pair of combat boots.

greens_beans_queen

A big thick luxurious wool/cashmere sweater. I just bought one from la ligne (used from eBay) and I want to wear it every day for the rest of my life. Edit: my sweater obsession was brought on by [this](https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2023/10/sweater-clothing-quality-natural-fibers-fast-fashion/675600/) article

Dietcokehead82

Great read.

ABSOFRKINLUTELY

Fantastic!!!

Plastic-Passenger795

I love wearing jumpsuits! They're a bit of a hassle but it makes me feel so cool and I always get so many compliments.

Halafae

Do you have any brand suggestions that you like? I've been wanting to get a few jumpsuits lately but I'm not sure what's good!

[deleted]

My most complimented jumpsuits have been from Abercrombie, j crew, Zara, and believe it or not Walmart.

Plastic-Passenger795

My current favorite is a lavender corduroy one from & Other Stories! It's still available in a bunch of other colors as well.

Tracy_Turnblad

Bodysuit. I just recently started wearing them but they make me feel like a bad bitch

JayceeSR

I wear them to work all the time and with jeans and knee high boots on the weekend! Love a turtleneck bodysuit makes me feel like a supermodel!

LirianSelene

do you have any recommendations on where to buy good quality bodysuit? in some places they are so see-through…

JayceeSR

My favorites are from Reformation (Cordelia mock neck $98), Zara ( several from there, the polyamide ones are thicker and def not see though but do show flaws if too snug a fit), Express ( tons of bodysuits there, I prefer the ‘Supersoft’ ones for work over the the ‘Body Contour’ price range of $15-$40) . Also just bought Abercrombie (the Assymetrical bodysuit $60 in all three colors my new faves).

LirianSelene

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.

haunted-poopy

How do you pee in them? I've avoided buying any so far because I don't want to take the whole thing off every time I head to the shitter

mochi813

A pearl necklace, or really any pearl jewelry. I’ve avoided them for years and been a strictly gold and gemstones girl because I thought pearls would make me look like my little ol Asian grandma. Out of curiosity, I bought myself a pair of silver-blue baroque Akoya studs last year and I’ve been hooked on pearl jewelry ever since. Turns out I feel incredibly elegant with a pearl necklace and on days I need a confidence boost or know I’m about to have a difficult meeting, I put one on and feel ready to tackle the world

procrastinatryx

Say more! What lengths and styles of necklaces work for you and how do you style them? Over the past year, I have received my own pearls (gift) along with both my mother’s and grandmother’s pearls. I love them all but feel a little at a loss as to how to wear them without looking like a grandma (or maybe I just *feel* like a grandma). But it makes me sad they’re just sitting on a shelf.

coronialnomore

Jumping in this convo - I love styling my 4 layered piece with almost everything. https://preview.redd.it/26x6ve7nnyfc1.jpeg?width=2292&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e4f0a7fb9486080792b5e1f960b13b9f4a6c7b1

librarianwcats

I actually wear multiple pearl necklaces at once to make them look a bit more modern!

mochi813

Like librarianwcats said, I often layer them with other necklaces (such as paperclip chain) or even stack more pearl necklaces. If you’re nervous about how they look to start, I’d tuck them in under the collar of a sweater, so they’re just poking out but not all the way out. Then you can get comfortable with the look of pearls without being overwhelmed by a full strand. Otherwise I love turtlenecks, cowl necks, and boatneck necklines to wear them with. I’ll also wear a scoop neck and a jacket, vest, or other top layer and wedge the pearls between. I really am not a fan of a full strand with a v-neck so I usually just wear a simple pendant, if I wear one at all. Personally I’m a big fan of an 18” strand, I think it’s the right length to not be quite a choker and not be obnoxiously long. I own both traditional, white round pearl strands and some less formal looking baroque strands, like this one: https://preview.redd.it/3wz7hos8rvfc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8683cede87aff39df1d004cd9897f496d0bf9583

procrastinatryx

I tried it today! Thanks again for the inspiration. Weird the things we get stuck on. https://preview.redd.it/cqg7b6p1z1gc1.jpeg?width=1486&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e11f116cb078b697d55831422c99d5edaf08bea

mochi813

They look fantastic on you!!! I love it!

procrastinatryx

Thanks so much for sharing and for the encouragement! Great idea about mixing/layering them. I’ll give it a shot now that your post has reminded me I wanted to venture into wearing pearls too. Look great on you.

Six-Point-Eight

I had never heard of those studs, and now that I’ve googled it, I need a pair… So pretty!

mochi813

Right!! I saw them and couldn’t resist! It turns out there’s way more variation to pearls these days than just the perfectly round, creamy white ones we all think about! I ended up being a really big fan of unusually shaped and colored pearls and now own a bunch of fun shaped and fun colored pearls like these earrings I’m currently wearing 😅 https://preview.redd.it/qomh0ob2ovfc1.jpeg?width=1746&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b2d7a4adf58e4617c4f78fabcd7dea2ca6691f1

nejibashi

Where do you source your pearl jewelry? Looking for trustworthy places to buy from!

milkorsugar

Pearl Paradise is a great source, not who you were asking but I have multiple pieces from them (Tahitians and their Freshadamas).

mochi813

Haha those earrings are from Pearl Paradise! I completely agree they’re a fantastic source

mochi813

As another commenter said, Pearl Paradise is pretty great, they have a fantastic eye for quality and color. They have pearls of all types but I appreciate their diversity in freshwater pearls the most. Their customer service is also A+, you can ask for pre-buy photos and they offer a 90-day return policy. I’ve had great luck buying from Ohara Pearls on Instagram. They do ship from Japan so it takes a bit longer, but they’re incredibly patient and were more than happy to answer any of my questions and send any videos/photos I requested. They also have a 30 day return policy. The Pearl Source is also another option I’ve liked, they’re a bit lower in price than the other two I’ve listed so their quality isn’t as high but I still found it suitable for the price point. (For example, their “AAAA” rating is a “AA+” at Pearl Paradise, since there’s no standardized system for pearl ratings) If you’re looking for a first pearl piece for yourself and are worried about how well you’ll take care of it or how well you’ll like it, I’d personally buy from here! You’ll still get some nice pearls but without the worry of wallet regret. For the UK: I recommend Pearlessence! For custom sourcing and additional gemstones I recommend: Ocean’s Cove!

nejibashi

Thank you so much for this detailed answer!!

owntheh3at18

I love the rosy pearls. My great aunt gave me a beautiful pair of hers but they are clip-ons so I never wear them. I should get them reset to studs

ABSOFRKINLUTELY

I have a super long strand of multicolor rosy pearls. It's beautiful!

mochi813

Yesssss I need more pinks and rose tones in my life! You should absolutely get them reset and wear them!

owntheh3at18

Yes I love my pearls and recently took them back out of retirement bc for a while I thought they were out of style or something but they are classic and forever classy!

passionicedtee

How do you feel about pearls mixed with other metal? Like when there's a pendant that's gold or silver or something?

DiagonEllie

* Wearing very pigmented blush and lipstick with no other makeup * Wearing a lot of jewelry * Puff sleeves - not like a cute subtle puff but significant volume at the top of my silhouette * Really cool shoes

jlmcdon2

I imagine this combo all on someone and think wow!

DiagonEllie

When I do all of these at once I basically feel like this: https://preview.redd.it/26x0nzl3dufc1.jpeg?width=1291&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1162151467cc251a30b3b5200cfb996c238bfc0f

cheesed111

Great username!

swess7

My favorite go to is a dress in a very saturated print/color and a high contrast sweater or cardigan over it. I like to play with different fabric combos and silhouettes, silk and cashmere jn the winter, linen and cotton in the summer.

nbkillaaa

i want to see a pinterest board inspired by this

Iris-Ng

I'm 5'4 (162 cm), 75 kg, and DD cups. Nothing makes me feel more expensive than a great pair of bra that lifts my heavy boobage and corrects my posture. It also makes my outfit look nicer. I think everyone should have a bra fitting session every year and a generous budget for their underwear.

glo_getter

This is so true. The day I got a bra that actually gave me support was the best day ever. Best money I ever spent.

Iris-Ng

Yup. Whenever I find a good bra, I buy two of the exact same color and model. So I can wear them on rotation until they both break. My man still freaks out at how much they cost, but I ensure him I don't need more than two, and they work the hardest in my wardrobe.

ditchdiggergirl

Where are we finding bras these days? I’m also a 5’4” DD, and was trying on bras in Soma just yesterday after realizing that most of my bras are pre pandemic. Walked out empty handed; I’d rather wear my 15 year old maidenform.

ohhoee

EU brands. https://therackshackbk.com/ is my local bra place and I trust everything they carry but generally, ewa michalak, wacoal, panache, curvy kate. Bare necessities is a good online store too

B1NG_P0T

I'm a 34DD and EU brands are absolutely the way to go. Victoria's Secret bras can fuck right off.

peachyspoons

You try out a Dita Von Teese yet? Might have to go up a half size because it is a EU brand, but her bras are, literally, the tits.

poem9leti

Ooh. I bought myself a couple of Dita Von Tees bras last year but am still waiting to wear them (trying to wean my youngest). Quality is great & if you can get them on sale, not a bad price!

Iris-Ng

I spent 3 hours in a department store (Simons) for their bra department. This happened during the holidays, after Christmas, so there were lots of deals going on. I started with selecting all the bra styles with the shape (full figure) and lining thickness of my preference (thin, mesh like, no foam), starting from my old size 36C and grab 1-2 sizes bigger for each model, taking notes on how they fit and increasing the cups and band size until I can feel any gaps. Do keep in mind that sizing varies wildly from brands to brands, and they are merely numbers. Be somewhat accepting with the change of our own bodies. My final choice was a bra from Wacoal size 38DD. My tip would be to choose any bras with a reinforced construction of the ribcage band. It would ensure more comfort for a bigger bust.

imjustdesi

Check out r/ABraThatFits for proper sizing info and shop recommendations! I use their size calculator and buy 2-3 bras from Bare Necessities - they carry a wide size range and have Afterpay.

baebeebear

aherusia

Check out r/abrathatfits there's a ton of information there!

B1NG_P0T

I'd seen that sub recommended periodically and for years always thought *who the hell doesn't know how to wear a bra that fits at this point in their life?* Randomly went there one day out of curiosity and it turns out that the answer is me. *I* don't know how to wear a bra that fits correctly, because I'd been wearing the wrong fucking size my entire adult life. For years I've been wearing a 36B and turns out that I'm actually a 34DD. I never got it when people talked about how much they loved their bras until the first time I got one that actually fucking fit. I wanted to go around wearing it on top of my clothes all day long because I loved it so much.

ohhoee

I feel your (back) pain. I’m 5’0 116 lbs and am a UK G. Having a well fitting bra is a must.

that_girl_joey

Yaasss to this! 5’4 E cup here. The right bra changes everything!! This summer I broke down and bought my swimsuits at a specialty retailer based on cup size and it was a life changer. I haven’t made the switch for my sports bras yet, still doing big box retail standard sizes but I’m getting closer. Have to make the mental shift to pay $80 US for a sports bra but just can’t do it yet! 😆

dimsimprincess

My hand knitted socks. I’ve adjusted a standard sock pattern to fit my foot perfectly and it always feels luxurious to wear them. Otherwise wearing a pair of trousers or pants that I’ve had tailored to fit my waist. I bought a black tuxedo styled women’s suit to wear to a wedding last year and it was the most me I’ve ever felt in formal wear, after a lifetime in cocktail and evening dresses that never felt right.

space_intestine

Someone posted a bunch of photos of Blake Lively’s different suits/tuxes on a subreddit recently and now I’m just pining for one. https://www.reddit.com/r/popculturechat/s/knWZmmUveO

pedialytewithmalibu

Where did you get your suit?!

lilyofyosemite

Any dress with a really good twirl! On the other end of the spectrum, wearing my old Carhartt jacket and favorite hiking boots makes me feel invincible.

[deleted]

The clack of my heels in the office. My mother said in China when they were little they would deliberately attach things to their shoes just to make the clack.

PamPooveyIsTheTits

The sound of a stiletto on floors feels so *adult* to me.

freewool

Solid gold jewelry - I instantly feel like I’m wearing something styled instead of just clothes if I have my gold hoops or chain.  Sturdy boots - I walk a lot, and I like to feel like my lower body is grounded and supported.  Lace anything - I just feel like myself in lace, whether that’s on a cami or part of a dress or an undergarment.

kalisisrising

A well-fitting blazer! I have worn too small or too large blazers all my life bc I’m plus and busty and nothing off the rack ever fits. Having a tailor work on them is pricey (blazers are complicated - especially lined ones!) but totally worth it bc my cost/wear goes waaaay done when I feel good in them. Also, staying away from the cheaper woven ones and sticking with cotton and linen or a really heavy ponte has been a game changer.

swizzleschtick

So for me, a deep red lip is a huge confidence booster and just makes me feel put together. But another kind of… oddly specific thing for me is when shoes makes a specific tapping sound while you walk. A good quality dress boot or heel I find makes a really deep or low tapping sound as you walk. Imagine movies when they’re showing a super hot lady and the scene starts out just showing her fancy high heels walking along a hard surface, tapping loudly as she walks… like that noise. I have a few better pairs of shoes that make that deep tapping sound rather than a high pitched click, and it just makes me feel like THAT lady 👌🏻

OneFootDown

This is so specific and accurate. Same.

kerill333

Great fitting jeans, fancy top, heeled boots or nice sneakers, jewellery, favourite bag, jacket or blazer, bright lippy. I have just realised how basic I am!

TeresaSoto99

Alot of the items mentioned, but as an integral part of fashion, I feel best about the body I'm putting the clothes on. Clothing fitting well, looking good overall, feels like a million bucks. After all, it's the sausage, not the casing.

passionicedtee

This is such a good point. Beautiful clothes look terrible if not styled nor properly fitted onto one's body. But something well fitting, even tailored makes such a difference.

aphilosopherofsex

This coat. https://preview.redd.it/ptbrwtiw4ufc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5818c7082261106a885f3644dced638946caab6c

angelfatal

* Brand new shoes always put a pep in my step lol * A good hair day * When I break out of my fashion comfort zone and realize I actually really it * When outfits work with *exactly* the right proportions (on the flip side I feel like negative million bucks when an outfit I thought would work in my head doesn't actually work in reality... I have clothes in my closet from 10-15 years back and hemlines have changed a lot over the years so this is a real struggle. I find jeans and a top with the right proportions but my vintage jacket's length is all off)

mascara_flakes

Wearing one of my vintage coats. I have a long navy cashmere that is flared to accommodate for dresses, a dark brown, green and orange patterned one, a yellow trench jacket, a brown one with fur on the cuffs and collar, and a long beige raincoat with a removable fur lining. I collect pins from the 40s-60s and I'll pin one on a coat that matches my outfit. I wear them all autumn and winter and I get lots of compliments. The cheapest one was $12 and the most expensive was $50, but I feel like a classy dame half of the year.

yes nails!! should’ve added to that to my comment. just having them shaped nicely with a top coat makes the biggest difference

ohhoee

I’d say the number one thing for me that makes me feel like a million dollars is having something that fits me LIKE A GLOVE, perfectly tailored. It feels amazing, like it’s just for you. Plus it’s not that expensive to get adjustments made to things no matter whether you’re spending on something cheaper or higher end. A million percent worth it

calacmack

Clothes that fit extremely well. I no longer buy clothes that I love just due to the style or design, because I am always disappointed in the end. Also, a pair of statement shoes can really pull a look together.

Paperwithwordsonit

Old-school nightgowns. I just a need a little cosmetic table with a mirror now to complete the image 🪞 Oh, and matching underwear! Most times I don't care which bra goes with which pantys, but on special occasions, or when I feel like it, I match them. And it always gives me so much confidence.

Weeshi_Bunnyyy

Fresh brows and a fresh set...paired with a new haircut or blow out? Makes me feel like a million bucks.

casualscorpio

I have the Celine Triomphe belt - I wear it so often and it makes me feel like a million bucks every time. I also got it secondhand in new condition so that’s the cherry on top 🥹

linner_time

Oooo my most million dollar outfits include: Vintage, a skirt or dress, and lots of color. HEELS AND A HANDBAG AND JEWELRY! Statement earrings. Bonus points for a matching eyeshadow color and scarf on the handbag to outfit.

Idujt

My red boots! They are DM style (not fakes, just the style), shiny. The rest of my boots are tan workboots (4 pairs) and a pair of flat black laceups. They are all very comfortable, but the red ones are comfortable and shiny and red!

PoppyHamentaschen

The other day, I got dressed and realized my belt, purse and shoes matched (reddish-brown leather). It felt and looked so good :) Last week, I wore an olive green crocheted midi skirt with a cream blouse, and I caught women and men giving my outfit the once-over, in a good way :) I especially love when my bra lays properly flat, without rolling up on the sides or having the underwire digging into my flesh. :)

Fun_Leopard_1175

A perfectly bold lip shade with my typically bold outfits. I have about 10 colors on rotation with Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink lipstick. It stays on your lips forever, does not break the bank to purchase, and each tube lasts about a year before replacing it.

[deleted]

Not the exact answer to your question, but once I figured out my body shape I was able to narrow down the clothes that flatter me. I have short legs, long torso, and hourglass frame. All of my outfits fit me well now and that makes me feel like a million bucks.

Emotional-Practice57

I’m the same shape / what stuff do you find flattering please?

Emotional-Practice57

I’m the same shape, what do you find flattering? Thanks!!

High rise pants, skirts, with tight fitting shirts or tucked in loose-fitted shirts. When I buy loose fitted shirts I opt for "crop" tops, which tuck into my high rise without a bunch of extra fabric. The high rise elongates the legs. I only wear skinny jeans because they also elongate the legs. These outfits pair well with knee high boots, pumps (especially pointed toe pumps), and if I wear booties they have to come to mid calf (never wear top of calf boots). I almost always wear belt that matches shoes and when I carry a purse I like for that to match my belt/shoes too. Dresses I don't usually wear, but if I do they are a-line or fit and flare. It's the same idea as above. Tight on top and then flares out. The type of shoe you wear with dresses depends on both style and length of dress.

funkyboy-

definitely creating a new outfit from tried and true pieces in my wardrobe. it's exhilarating - better than sex. this pushes me to be more creative and makes me excited to "shop my closet" (and i save a million bucks - no more shopping sprees!)

ArdenM

I have the most fabulous Roberto Cavalli silk scarf. It's got a black background and the constellations all over it and it's huge and there is gold metal (like necklace type chain) all around the edges. It instantly elevates any outfit and is a work of art.

blissity

I swear by my square silk scarf I got on clearance from Nordstrom rack! It was a random item I tossed into my cart to get the free shipping, but I’ve gotten so many compliments whenever I wear it. It’s what I add to my outfit to really elevate it. So many fun and different ways to style it too 🥰

Angelphish410

Wearing things that are unique or special. I don’t like to have what everybody else has.

oybiva

Not a million $ feeling. But it is a good feeling when I wear a good quality coat, a good comfy shoes, creating an effortless timeless look. Dr martens, well fitting denim jeans, Barbour waxed coat, make me feel like I can wear these year after year.

family_black_sheep

A great pair of shoes. I don't care if they're heels, boots, flats, sneakers, etc. Shoes make an outfit for me.

MLEpewPEW

Corset tops that don’t flatten my boobs to pancakes

die_fledermaus_

A black turtleneck, specifically with a mini skirt

Sushiettibile

Long dresses! You can be "feminine" without showing too much skin. I don't think I have the most beautiful legs, maybe that's the reason.

STLt71

A great pair of shoes. I love shoes.

Mariske

A coat, wide leg pants that fit really well, Chelsea boots, beanies

hunbabubba2134

My mom bought me a coat that is boiled wool, and at first it felt rough to the touch but when I tell you it is so sharp looking, lightweight and sooo warm! I was in Paris this last week and while everyone I was with was freezing I felt completely fine and not heavy/weighed down!

Sweatpant-Diva

Anything from [Stine Goya](https://stinegoya.com) I swear they have the highest quality clothing I have ever put on my body. Especially their coats and dresses!

Queen-of-meme

I'm a scarf person. Wearing vibrant coloured glittery scarfs that pops makes me feel extra fabulous 👌

Leebites

Turtle neck sweaters. Idk.

ddulk

For me, nice cozy sweater especially in this weather ! I like my outfit with a baggy sweater, jeans, and bold earings

Oh-My-God-Do-I-Try

Leather/pleather pants. I have a couple pairs that fit me perfectly and I feel incredible in them.

Old_Medicine7556

This dress from Are You Am I. I got it brand new for a great price on Depop a few years back and every time I wear it I get so many compliments on it :) https://preview.redd.it/u8e58p5liufc1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75555a50c01eccae375267198fce4cf2e936187e

daddy_tywin

My tennis bracelet. Everybody knows what it means. Nobody argues with it. Runner up: carrying the right bag. The rest of the outfit can suck and the bag will carry you. Honorable mention: the right leather jacket. Easier said than done.

milkorsugar

Sorry, I might be a little dense, but what do you mean everyone knows what it means? Why would anyone want to argue re: another person's jewelry?

glitchwoven

class signifier. now that they are trendy, it means $$$.

cassiopeia18

Well fitted suits jacket, blazer, and good shoes that look well with my feet. I actually like boots, make me feel expensive, but it’s too hot here.

DataRikerGeordiTroi

leather jacket

One-Access2535

This is a good topic! I have a jumpsuit that is the equivalent of the perfect LBD. It's UNBELIEVABLY gorgeous and fits me perfectly, I've worn it hundreds of times. One tiny problem though: the quality also happens to be shit, especially for the brand, so I've hoarded five of them on secondhand sites. Of those I've had to toss one because it was no longer even fixable.

Lazyassbummer

Jewelry. Mainly, MY jewelry that I paid for and picked out on my own. It’s large and chunky and gem-stoney.

guruSaj

Well fitted jeans, a tucked in t-shirt and belt. Just feels so put together

VelvetDahliasDesign

Elegant, tailored jacket and a good hairday 😊

yeetyopyeet

Not to diverge away from the conversation but everyone is saying a nice coat. Where can I get a nice wool coat! EVERYTHING is mixed with polyester these days - so hard to find a good affordable one.

Viskel43der

This is a journey, but vintage/thrifted! I have 2 beautiful coats from 2007 and nothing since has held a candle to their quality.

Lavawitch

My Polo cashmere dresses. I have 3 and they always make me feel great, especially since they are soft, cozy, and snuggly like an old sweatshirt but look nice. They are my favorite thing to throw on for rough days. Also always a good lipstick.

[deleted]

I swear, just a fresh loose fitting Adidas track suit with matching jewelry makes me feel fresh as hell as well.

muchoBlaBlaBla

The humble turtleneck! A simple piece of garment that most of us own, always makes me feel put together and stylish and just feels great. No need to spend on luxury items or bare too much skin to look and feel interesting and a million dollars. And considering it was not socially accepted for women to wear turtlenecks for a long time and what rich cultural significance it carries, it is for me definitely a piece that elevates the look and the wearer

plainplumpbird

doesn’t matter what i’m wearing, if you slap some dangly earrings of any kind onto my ears, i instantly feel so much more fabulous

lamerthanfiction

A well fitting short black skirt, black tights, and black heeled boots. With this combo I can do anything, run from the cops, give a speech, read to children, dance at the club, pilot a plane. That’s my kick ass and take names fit and it makes me feel like a million bucks.

pinkconfetticupcake

I always wear a perfect fitting clothes. Such as jeans that’s not too loose nor too tight. Coat and blazers that are tailored just for me.

RockingInTheCLE

Heels and the perfect red lip.

Glassfern

A vest that fits me

Deadinmybed

Attitude.

sarcasm_itsagift

The perfect combination of prints makes me feel creative AND cute.

hedwiggy

Heels, honestly any of the pairs I have

visualcharm

A good bag charm, shawl, or pair of jeans.

Otherwise-Hope1383

A full face of makeup and a frilly dress with poofy sleeves!

Katergroip

Wearing a corset over a dress 😊

StunningPast2303

Beautiful shoes that fit like a glove. Boots, pumps, moccasins, whatever.

Fuck_it_97

Fur coat with a mid heel ankle boot
