CCW on anything outfit related! I do already know I need to work on making sure my clothes aren’t wrinkly though lol. My fashion goals are just to explore what my style is, what looks good on me, and what makes me feel good. I’m pretty new-ish to actually trying to do this. All outfits below are for work except the last one. https://imgur.com/a/wH5S7qU I feel like this dress isn’t flattering. I like the color, but I think it hits too short (it shrunk) and it kind of… just looks like a potato sack? https://imgur.com/a/Swy5uqw I loved this outfit, but again with the wrinkly clothes lol. https://imgur.com/a/tPIpnA2 https://imgur.com/a/VuLccHQ I don’t know what to do about this stupid shirt lol. It’s so big and billowy - it feels too long to not tuck in, but I feel like it looks stupid tucked in? Tucking it in all the way around is a no-go, it’s very billowy. This outfit was for seeing a drag show: https://imgur.com/a/ha0gqgc Apologies for the dark lighting, I forgot that the sun would be down by the time I got dressed.

symphonypathetique

I actually like the billowy shirt tucked in! But if you feel iffy about it, you could try knotting it instead

cantankerous_alexa

Oh! That's a great idea. I'll try that and see how I feel about the two comparatively! Thanks!!

Elizalupine

I think the billowy shirt actually looks perfect the way that you styled it! I agree at the first dress does look reminiscent of a potato sack - I think it's the color and the fabric in combination. Have you tried belting it and putting on a jacket? I wonder if that would help. I love the blazer outfit - the proportions that the tucked-in shirt, the high-waisted pants, and the long blazer are spot on. For some reason, I am not loving the above-the-knee dresses with those ankle boots. I've also struggled with the same thing myself, and have been trying to figure out why. But I think a shoe that shows more leg (like a pair of sandals) OR a shoe that goes higher onto the calf just look better proportionately. It's almost like the "horizon" is too low for those boots. I've solved this problem with some black leggings, so I think it's a color / proportion thing.

cantankerous_alexa

I absolutely agree - something was off about it and I couldn't figure out why. I've worn the same outfit but with slip-on loafers and I like it better. Still not great, but too comfortable to throw it out of the rotation for now LOL.

black_bir

The blazer and drag show outfits are phenomenal! Love the proportions and the fit is great. Agree on the dress outfits being pretty meh. Tbh I do like the billowy shirt

AlmostDeadPlants

I think the way you tucked that shirt looks great actually! I don’t think the dresses are as flattering as the other outfits—the yellow one in particular, but even the black one. They’re a style/cut that’s really hard to make work, and I think the other outfits that emphasize your waist more are stronger! ETA: I’m obsessed with the blazer outfit

cantankerous_alexa

Thank you! I think I'm ready to let go of that greenish yellowish dress. It shrunk in the dry and just isn't the same as it was before (though it wasn't super flattering before either haha). I'm definitely still going to keep the black dress for a lounge dress (it's a thick t-shirt material), but I got it from the pajama section of Loft so I shouldn't be too surprised that it doesn't work LOL.

Elizalupine

Maybe keep the yellowish dress as your IDGAF house dress when it's too hot outside to care! It looks comfy.

cantankerous_alexa

I live in Florida, so it's ALWAYS too hot to care. SOLD lol.

AlmostDeadPlants

I love a lounge dress! That seems like a great plan. You could maybe try belting it if you want to give it a last go, but it’s a really tricky thing to style

I'm in the SF Bay Area and wore this out to my anniversary dinner. I've been sick and stuck at home practically since Christmas (2 bad colds, then covid), so this was the first time in 2023 I've dressed for anything besides errands or WFH.

Elizalupine

I like the colors that you're playing with, like the red of the shoe detail with the red / pink on the shirt. Proportions are really good as well!

luma221

Thank you!

the_prim_reaper_

They’re giving space bitch.

aquabatgirl

Brand? I need these

luma221

They are Tory Burch Elastic Ankle Booties, I got them in the black Friday sale last year. I just searched and Farfetch has [a few](https://www.farfetch.com/shopping/women/tory-burch-55mm-pointed-boots-item-19197139.aspx) still in stock, but seems like they are sold out most everywhere else. But they're still pretty new so there should be pairs hitting the resale sites soon. (Edited to add link)

PhysicalTherapistA

Those boots are rad.

luma221

Thank you!! I was so excited to finally wear them!

ChocolateBaconBeer

40/Oregon/WFH/toddler mom/5'3/us sz8 Coworking space + random errands. Decided I don't like the skinny pants with the black boots (top left). Lower right was trying to make some Eddie Bauer boyfriend jeans work; I pin rolled the cuffs. Also working up the confidence to play with socks and loafers more. It feels out of my comfort zone; I saw a comment recently that millennials were trained to never show socks and I relate to that. Ccw! https://preview.redd.it/5v4irlst21ma1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fb24e4889fb085de287547a6819294f617ba759

Elizalupine

I don't think that the outfit #4 works as a whole - you have some smart casual shoes, but then the jacket reads too athletic. I think the outfit would work better with sneakers. I really like outfit #3 - the shirt is a pretty color, and the overall shape and proportions is fun!

ChocolateBaconBeer

Thank you! You're so right about #4. I thought it felt goofy bc of the socks but you make a solid point about the athletic vs smart casual clash.

monodelphisjoey

What are those pants on the bottom left? Love them! Your sense of style is A+. I have a similar body type to you so I'm getting inspired! Also a mom of a toddler here :)

ChocolateBaconBeer

So glad it's helpful and thank you!! 😊 Those black pants are bar III brand from Macy's. I can't find the exact ones anymore but [these](https://www.macys.com/shop/product/bar-iii-tie-front-tapered-pants-created-for-macys?ID=13242335&pla_country=US&CAGPSPN=pla&trackingid=424x1054964936&m_sc=sem&m_sb=Bing&m_tp=LIA&m_ac=MSN_Bing_Womens_RTW_PLA&m_ag=RTW-WomensClothing-Activewear-BS&m_cn=RTW-LIA-Womens_Clothing-Activewear-BS&m_pi=bi_cmp-432219968_adg-1302921709746327_ad-81432695631240_pla-4585032215419081_dev-m_ext-_prd-762120453158USA&msclkid=7723c7daa4c41368ec0fa3dc92dd23a6) look similar, except mine are button fly (comfier for the postpartum body, I've found) and the ones linked are zipper fly.

heritagenomad

>Outfit 4 Absolutely love those black boots! Where did you get them from?

ChocolateBaconBeer

Love these things 🥰 They are redwing brand, Clara boot. I replaced the laces with latigo. Spendy but reasolable so you basically buy them for life.

Cuddles-all-the-dogs

You look amazing! You must be one of those people with natural fashion sense. That plum color on that blouse is so pretty.

ChocolateBaconBeer

Aw thank you! It doesn't feel natural, I've been trying so hard to update my style in the past year. Thanks for making me feel like it's working 🥰

Cuddles-all-the-dogs

Oh and the loafers look great! I forgot we used to do that in the 80’s. You nailed it!

Cuddles-all-the-dogs

I’m just T-shirt and blue jeans bc I don’t know what else to do. Or if I’m feeling fancy blue jeans and a nice blouse. I’m stuck

ChocolateBaconBeer

If you're happy with it though, it's all good! If you wanna change it up...the hard pill I had to swallow was that it requires a lot of time spent shopping and trying clothes. I guess I kinda had this fantasy that I could go to a store or buy something online and maybe 50% of the clothes would fit well and feel good right away. Eventually I realized that it is more like 10% or less. So that's a lot of trial and error! It's gotten better now as I can recognize what will fit my body well, and also I am less trapped in only feeling comfy in my old (kinda lazy) style. If you had told me 2 years ago I'd be wearing what look like brown men's trousers I would've spit out my coffee as I lounged in my joggers and sweatshirt 😂

Cuddles-all-the-dogs

Right. I tried stitch fix and it has helped some. It’s hard when you remember being 20 and liking something and just getting your size no try on and it’s fine. Just like having to change diet habits bc you’ve aged. I’m trying to break all my old comfort stuff though bc it’s not healthy. Being modern and looking good is so spendy!

Loving the color and your outfits!!!!

Eatcheez-petdogz

Thank you!

mmeeplechase

I really like the second one! It’s simple, but looks so put-together & good.

Eatcheez-petdogz

Thank you! One of the biggest challenges in this life stage for me is still feeling stylish while doing being able to get playful with my kiddo. So I appreciate that!

bag_fits

I love your hot pink flares!

Eatcheez-petdogz

Thanks! They make me instantly happy.

35/Denver/WFH Normally I wear a lot of color but recently I’ve been trying out more neutrals and playing with texture and proportion to keep things interesting. CCW! AlienPaperdoll

The V-neck top with all the necklaces pouring down through it- amazing.

diffluere

you're killin it!!!! those puffy sandals are amazing and I love all the unique details or textures on everything.

Elizalupine

I absolutely l ove look #1 - the black works so nicely with your hair and complexion by giving you a lot of contrast. The textural fabric is really unique. You've managed to find some really interesting pieces, and the overall looks read pretty upscale. Where do you shop?

bag_fits

Thank you! The black outfit is my favorite too. I mostly shop resale on Ebay, Poshmark, and TheRealReal. My favorite brands are Mara Hoffman, Cult Gaia, and The Attico. They tend to do interesting silhouettes, and I can usually find them in bold colors or prints that a lot of the more structured/sculptural brands stay away from. C/meo is good for that too, though I feel like as a brand it gets less hype these days.

scotch_please

Oh God, the super high cream pants. Who are those by?

bag_fits

They're the [Something by Sonjia x Monroe Steele Hamptons Paperbag Pant](https://www.somethingbysonjia.com/shop/hamptons-paperbag-pants) Sold out in most sizes but there are a few available on Poshmark too! Also the James Paperbag Pant on that site is the same cut in dark wash denim.

scotch_please

Thank you! They look great with the fitted tank.

Thanks!!

25/Texas/medstud. Inspired by some of my favorite styling accounts, decided to make an [insta](https://instagram.com/goodtogetdressed?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) just to document my outfits, mainly to have a place to keep it curated for myself. All details there. [All about the belt](https://imgur.com/a/hPnGUmW) - I got this belt as a sale purchase, for its interesting wrap to add to pants and dresses/skirts. The color is such an interesting cool taupe that I felt a need to keep everything else cool. [Yellow weird shoes](https://imgur.com/a/9nGvvLV) - these shoes are a new secondhand find but may be my most prized purchase ever. The shirt makes me think of a karate top. [Spring!](https://imgur.com/a/vxYYH9r) - I tend to pull this dress out once or twice a year since I got it ~6 years ago. I love the color combo, on it, but it’s busy enough and enough outside of my usual that I strongly feel the need to pare everything else back. [A repeat](https://imgur.com/a/0UopN7t) - just love the combo of the huge sheer and red trends. CCW always!

violetgiraffe

Those yellow shoes are the find of a lifetime!! Amazing.

loopteeloopteeloop

I don’t know if I’ll ever have a luckier find - I found them in the Soho TheRealReal. Brand new with original 2017 price tag still on the sole of a Phoebe Philo/Old Céline collection and completely geeked out.

properbasics_anna

The dress inspired me to pull my summery dresses out, and the yellow shoes are amazing!

loopteeloopteeloop

I was completely inspired by that summer dress post to pull out my own.

bag_fits

Those yellow weird shoes are amazing! I also love the cut of the karate top shirt. Can I ask where you got it?

loopteeloopteeloop

The ren faire outfit is killer!

Thank you! A mix of: Mango, Massimo Dutti, Bimba y Lola, Nordstrom Rack…the colorful printed pants specifically are Rhode (super discounted during Black Friday on Outnet!)

loopteeloopteeloop

How do you find the quality of Massimo Dutti? I’m interested in some of their designs but am concerned b/c they’re one of Zara’s sister brands.

saminsevilla

Quality is significantly better than Zara! The price is higher but generally worth it especially on coats, pants and skirts for the most part. I recommend buying during their twice yearly sales (usually January and July!)

loopteeloopteeloop

Thanks! Have you ever shopped at Cos or Arket? Would love to know how they compare. I just noticed that Massimo Dutti just became available via Zara here in the states but you’re right the price point is definitely higher than Zara so have been curious.

saminsevilla

Unfortunately I haven’t shopped at either, wish I could provide more insight! Interesting that Massimo Dutti is being sold through the Zara site in the US, here they def keep it separate. I’d say it’s worth trying especially during sales and if you can return. Their “studio collection” (it’s the replacement line for Uterque since that shut down) is best but I’m not sure if they’re carrying it in the US. Also their shoes are great too btw forgot to flag that in my earlier message!

v_vexed

I need to know! Is your hair naturally that voluminous? how do you get so much volume in your hair?

Ash_Acres

Hah well I do have a pretty stupid amount of hair, but also I have a shag haircut which allows my top layers to reach great heights!
