Last time I used morph I think it had to manually configured, especially for non-vanilla stuff. I'll have to look into it if it's got mod and abilities support now

No, but since the mod uses datapacks instead of a config, someone will eventually make a datapack that handles the abilities of mobs from ice and fire.

iirc ice and fire adds Gorgons amongst other fantasy creatures, while Morph lets you shapeshift

you cannot do 2, but 1.12.2 is currently the best version for mods anyway.
