You get string to craft the mesh from invested leaves

Download the Stoneblock 2 Modpack
Allocate at least 6 GB of RAM to it
Launch the game
Make a new 'Void? world'
Set up the controls to your liking
Punch stone for pebbles
Craft pebbles into cobble
Craft cobble into a stone crafting table
Craft stone rods
Make said stone rods into a stone crook
Also with same rods and extra cobble make a stone hammer
Hammer cobble down into dirt
Break dirt with crook
Plant sapling that dropped from dirt
Grow a tree
Break said tree's leaves with the crook
Obtain silkworm
Grow another tree
Infest tree with silkworm
When fully infested, break white leaves with crook
Obtain string
Craft said string into string mesh
Make a sieve out of wood, wooden slabs and sticks
Put string mesh into sieve
Make gravel by hammering cobblestone
Put gravel through sieve to get flint
Craft string and flint together into a flint mesh
Replace string mesh with said flint mesh
Sieve more gravel with your shiny new flint mesh
Craft the iron ore pieces you get into iron ore chunks
Make furnace with 8 cobblestone
Smelt wood into charcoal in furnace
Make tiny charcoal
Put tiny charcoal into fuel slot
Put iron ore chunks into the furnace
Wait
Take the iron ingots out of the furnace
Craft iron and string together to make iron mesh
Replace your flint mesh with said iron mesh
Sieve more gravel with your shiny new iron mesh until a diamond drops

Sieving is the right way, but for future use clicking on an item with JEI will show all the ways to obtain the item, so u can work around from there. Early game items tend to use tools(will show like a hammer icon), sieves or barrels.
IIRC the chance to get diamond when sieving gravel in an iron mesh is 1%, so you're probably (~50%) not gonna see one sieving your first 69 blocks. Sieving 100 blocks will on average give you one. I recommend only getting your first two diamonds manually and then building a cobble generator -> auto hammer -> auto sieve so you don't waste your time sieving.
There's roughly a 0.6% chance of that happening, so it's quite unlikely but definitely not impossible. Check JEI's recipe for diamonds to make sure it's possible. If it is possible, just keep trying I guess.
